I have been coming here for many years and stop in whenever in town. The shop is located in the artsy part of the redeveloping original downtown and is a part of and reflects perfectly the downtown's eclectic character. The store is located in a great, older retail shop with a covered corner entry that lets them showcase some eye catching pieces to entice you inside. The vibe is slightly cluttered chic with distinct sections and it's easy to peruse based on what you might be looking for or discover things you weren't. I personally like that they are not too worried about "staging" like some places and just get the stuff out there. I am never disappointed at the amazing and eclectic collection of furniture, furnishings, decorations, art, books--almost anything you can think of and many things you wouldn't but glad you saw and bought. I always find something fun, useful, maybe even historical from some perspective, to take home. The owners are super friendly, very good humored (we usually have a yuck about something), and just nice to interact with. Depending on the piece, they may even be willing to entertain offers which is such smart business in this business. All-in-all this place is just fun and I always walk away feeling good about my purchase from both a value and price perspective but also from an interacting with the owners perspective. Check this place out!

My personal favorite is the Indiana state park side which is the east side. The photos included in this review are of the east side which is considered the state park. This is my favorite place to watch the sunset. There are several Great hikes. If you visit the visitor center and walk along the beach for a few minutes west, you will see a really large tower. This is a place where you can go up and have a look at birds (I think it's actually a birdwatching tower) and there is a beautiful hike through a pretty wildflower field south west of this tower. We saw cacti, so many native plants, more monarch butterflies than I could count in such a variety of birds. We stayed until the sunset. Do you want to make sure to get there 20 minutes before the sunset and find a place to sit down and just enjoy it. You will have an enjoyable time for about 45 minutes watching the sky change colors over the water. It is hard to believe that you were in Indiana because the waves sound just like the ocean. I am so glad that this area has been preserved by the national park service and the state park system. It is truly a treasure for the state of Indiana.

There is a free theater on site that shares dunes history and current facts on a continuous loop. Gift shop is great. You might find National Park logo gear, local distillery non alcoholic merch and a small satellite Fluid Coffee Shop. There are a few park rangers on site to give advice on walking/hiking trails. They are also happy to answer any questions about the Indiana Dunes National Park. The lakeshore has two separate parks - a National Park and a State Park. Each park has a lot of similar attractions and a few different. If you have a yearly National Park Pass, I recommend going to the National Park. If you are an Indiana resident the State Park is a $7 admission per vehicle or $20 for out of state visitors.
