There are a mix of West African and Caribbean products. There is a whole room dedicated to bulk rices and grains. A large seafood department offering swordfish and shark among others is located in the back. The produce section is not as extensive as one would think for a place like this, but they have incredible prices for example, organic ginger for $1.99 a pound. My neighborhood supermarket is offering that for $7.99 a pound! Well, many people do their regular shopping here. It does appear to be set up for bulk purchases. There are health and beauty products by the registers and that's why I usually go because they have incredible prices on moisturizers and deodorants. Not only that, they import the international versions of domestic items like Dove for Men deodorant. You can tell because the labels are all in French!

The owner is decently pleasant but I wouldn't neccesarily call him friendly, so just don't go in asking a bunch of silly questions and you'll be fine. The selection of fish is very broad and you can buy whole fresh fish to take home after picking your own, or choose from fillets. You can shop 2 ways here: pick, pay, and leave, or pick, pay, and have them steam cook it for an extra $1 per lb. I always have them steam my fish and add their blend of sliced potatoes, onions, corn, broccoli and carrots which is the best way to go, every time! The ladies who steam are freaking experts with seasoning! I recommend that you get your order steamed and ask for everything which includes seasoned salt, garlic powder, pepper and red pepper flakes. They squirt your fish with lemon juice and then rinse it, followed by generous amounts of seasoning (I've never had it be too salty, they just get it right somehow) and put everything in a big plastic bags for steaming. and when your fish is done (13 minutes) they put a big dollop of butter (actually a "buttery blend" but it's still very good, just roll with it!) in the bag, close it up and put it in an aluminum container with plastic lid. I mention the packaging because it does an incredible job of keeping everything hot for at least 90 minutes after you buy it. You'll spend about $12-20 easily but you will LOOOOVE IT!!

BlueFish I bought two Blue Fish at $3.99 per pound and when I arrived home I was disappointed that it was not cleaned, heads off and tails on as I requested, but the weekend is here so I could deal with that, however once the fish was seasoned and fried, the fish tasted bitter in certain spots and this is a sure sign that these Blue Fish were not fresh. Return policy. I didn't find out about the return policy until I left the store. You can not return seafood that is cooked or seasoned and it must be returned on the same day. I bought Blue Fish around 7pm in the evening,cooked it around 9pm? The market closes at 7pm....How is a same day return possible? Disappointing. I will not be back, the fish was stale and the customer service lacked a lot, there's a better fish market on Fulton Street and Nostrand Avenue that I normally patronize, however I was in such a rush I visited this merchant, because it was close to home. BIG MISTAKE. Fish was STALE. Disappointing. Go somewhere else.
