I needed two trees trimmed in my backyard - a cedar and a live oak. I was going to call around but I ended up getting service right when I called while other companies went to voicemail. They were able to schedule a quote visit for me the next day so I figured I'd just give them a try before calling another company too. The quoter was so nice! He said they could be out in the next week or so to do the work. I ended up getting a call the following evening that they could be out the next day. Everything was completed within 3 days! Got a bid of $2,500 to remove a dying tree in front yard. I thought the price was really high. I got 3 more bids from reputable companies and they were all between $800 - $1,200. The quality of their services might be good but pricing is crazy. Do your research before you commit. I used the H.O.W Foundation for $1200. They are insured. read more

Our back porch wrapped around a Red Oak, but the deep freeze last year killed that tree. Using Yelp, I got three quotes. Because the tree was so close to the house, I wanted a premium service provider. I like that the Good Guys have FULL insurance on their employees which is not required in Texas. Once we accepted the proposal, the tree was gone within a day. The crew did a great job of the clean-up. I will call the Good Guys again when the need arises. read more

Been a loyal customer for several years, but this year I need help with some dead trees from the great freeze. 1st I set a appointment and got a no call no show.. ok maybe they are busy so I call and set another. They come this time..the proposal is double what I've paid in the past for some extra work.. cut down 3 dead China berries..and the proposal includes trees I don't have? I call to inquire about why.. the person that setup the proposal did not call me back and suspect they will not..what gives? Loyalty means nothing? When things slow down it will. read more

We used Good Guys a few years back and they did a great job. We recently reached out to them to trim our Live Oaks. They have a communications problem. The main office didn't coordinate with the field workers. Field workers showed up unexpectedly and did an awful job. I tried to resolve it with their customer service people. We got notice that they would come to fix it. They never showed up nor responded to our communications. Will find someone else for our tree projects from now on. read more

I had these guys out today to remove 3 trees, clear a bunch of limbs to 5' around the perimeter of my home, and trim every tree on the property. They arrived with a big crew, and had the whole job knocked out in 75 minutes. Walked me around when they were done to ensure I was satisfied, and cleaned up after themselves, too. I had a great experience with Good Guys. A super nice certified arborist came to do a free estimate. He was really knowledgeable and had good reasons for all of his recommendations. About a week later, the team came. They were on time, fast, professional, did everything that was in the estimate exactly as stated, and cleaned up leaving almost no trace -- except great looking trees trimmed back from the roof and opening up the view on our backyard. We had a couple trees removed so a few days later the stump grinder came and took care of that. Everyone including the office staff is smart, friendly and professional. We've used Good Guys twice in the past few years and they did a good job, but we have encountered bad scheduling, access, and management this time around. Almost two weeks ago they no-showed a scheduled 1-5pm time window to trim our trees, without explanation, and the sales rep never returned our call. After five days of no response we called the office to reschedule with the office manager (who was unavailable in a meeting). No callback. We called again two days later, asking to speak to the owner and reschedule, and were told that the owner was unavailable, that we'd been rescheduled for the following week, and that we'd receive a reminder call prior to the appointment. They confirmed today's 1-5 pm time window yesterday, but today the crew arrived at 5:05 pm, as the sun was beginning to set. We received no notice that they were planning to arrive so late, or to discuss the feasibility of starting a job at dusk (nor have they proactively offered to call us tomorrow to reschedule...they are leaving that up to us, again). read more

Warning: the good guys will descend on your yard like an entire horde of tasmanian devils, and be gone just as fast, leaving only neatly-trimmed trees and shrubs behind, without a stick on the ground in their wake. It's pretty amazing. I mean, no sooner than my partner said, "they're here," I stepped outside, and the crew lead came over to say they were done. Phenomenal. But even better: they saved my huisache! I knew the poor tree needed some trimming, but then last weekend's storm split one of the major branches. When the arborist came out, he kinda shook his head and looked a little worried about it, but he said they'd do what they could. And sure enough, it wasn't sacrificed to the post-storm gods, but is still (mostly) there, doing its huisache springtime thing. If I'd had any clue these guys were that good (and holy moly FAST), I would've been using them long before now! read more

Job: Remove 2 Cedar elms in the front yard (potential disease issue) Cost: ~$1950 Pros: 1. The actual tree cutting was done on the scheduled day 2. Knowledgeable about city rules of tree removal Cons 1. Not proactive: Did not finish the job on the day they promised and failed to reach out to communicate that (I had to reach out to them) 2. Not reliable: Said the stump removal would be done the next day (they forgot). Got home that night and it had not been done (and again no communication to inform me). They also sent me a bill without completing the job 3. Delayed completion with minimal communication: The stumps were finally removed the following Monday after I sent an email and talked to Bob on the phone over the weekend I hired them based on the reviews here. Quite frankly, I don't know how they got so many good reviews and feel led astray by my fellow Yelpers. I have no comments on the price - maybe it is fair or not - you judge. read more

Our very large haywood tree cracked at the root and fell into our backyard during the ice storm. After spending lots of time trying to remove the tree myself, and failing, we got a quote from Good Guys Tree Service after seeing an ad. I was actually skeptical seeing so many high reviews on Google from a tree service. How could a tree service company service function so well? Well, they do. I have probably unreasonably high expectations of businesses too and Good Guys exceeded my expectations. Very professional, very easy to deal with, very responsive, very passionate about their work. James came out the next day we asked for a quote, obviously loves nature and speaks like he has a PhD in Forest Science and still loves everything about it, gave me a very reasonable quote, sent a team of six men out two days later, who were swinging from trees on cables, cutting up huge bases of tree like a hot knife through butter, carried it all out and done. They're definitely worthy of a five star review and I'll be using them for more of their services in the future. read more

We needed a large tree cut down in our front yard. Justin came out on schedule to give us a quote, and the price was very good. He was friendly and explained that the company had insurance and the crews were not day laborers, but regular employees. They came the next week on the day scheduled and cut down the tree, removing the wood, so nothing was left but a short stump. The tree was doing damage to the garage, but the crew was able to remove it without any further damage despite the close proximity of the the garage. read more

These guys showed up at 7am with a swarm of dudes. They were hired to remove a 20+" diameter tree in the front, a smaller tree in the back along with a few other smaller items. They were done by 8:30. Their price is in-line with other licensed, insured tree companies. read more

We hired Good Guys Tree Service and were very pleased with their process. They promptly came out and gave a competitive estimate to remove 5 large cedar trees and returned a few days later to do the job. They arrived first thing in the morning and brought a large truck, a chipper, plus ~8 men and got straight to work. Halfway through the job some of the guys took the truck offsite to empty the mulch, half stayed to continue working on cutting up tree trunks/limbs. When the truck returned they chipped the rest of the logs, cleaned up the area and were on their way. They were all very cordial, efficient and considerate of our property. The guys that came out for a quote were friendly and quoted a reasonable price. I called them mainly to cut the large dead cottonwood branches that were over my roof. As best I can remember, the conversation about the cottonwood, after they looked at it, went something like: GGTS: "We'll cut those three or four branches off." Me: "Wait, does that include the one up there that's dead?" GGTS: "Don't worry about it. We've got a small guy like a monkey - he'll clean up everything up there once he gets up there and can see it." Scheduling was a problem - I didn't hear back for over a week, then they called right as they were closing saying they'd come the next day. I rescheduled with them, but then they came at the wrong time and I wasn't there. They came in my yard and worked on some of the trees while I wasn't home. In the end, they did not cut off the highest dead cottonwood branch that was over the roof. The foreman put me on the phone with the owner of the company, who said it would be too dangerous. I was frustrated that there was still a large dead branch over the roof, since that was the principal reason I hired them. Understanding now that it was too dangerous, I made the point that it should have been made clear to me that they would not be getting all the branches. The owner said it had been made clear, and accused me of calling his best friend a liar and of trying to kill his workers. I am very unhappy with this interaction. There were a few other miscommunications that were annoying but not as big a deal. In light of these, the owner threw in an extra job (grinding a stump). The work that was completed was fine. The company was a pain in the ass. read more

I love this service. They know their trees, know their diseases, know if it needs a trim or not. They catch things I didn't see (like the HUGE dead branch way up high on my pecan that would have dropped and broken my fence), but they don't try to up sell you. They don't try to tell you more trees need trimming than do just to make more money off of you. Their staff is kind and courteous, they give you a quote. Staff call the day of, they show up on time, and were wearing masks. They trimmed my trees using ropes to keep the large dead one from falling willy nilly. They lightened up branches and cleared off branches from the roofs of both houses. I would def refer this service to my family, friends and neighbors. read more

We had 5 trees removed, and the team of men were done in roughly 30 minutes. They (without question) trimmed a few more branches during the final walkthrough because we wanted a bit more trimmed. I used them several times over the years and always referred them to other people who hired them as well. I can no longer do that in good conscience, they lost a customer for good when they quoted me $600 minimum regardless of the job with a $500 deposit. This during covid and right after a natural disaster. I honestly felt bad for the guy having to quote me this nonsense. I understand owner has since lowered it to $500 minimum starting per job. I did call back and they were willing to go down to $400 due to me being a prior customer but would get to me when they got to me kind of thing. Highly disappointed in this company, they were once very reasonable and their work was good. Needless to say, I found another highly rated company to complete the work the same day I had a quote done, took 2 men 30 minutes with their wood chipper. Not even close to being a $600 job. I'm very disappointed with "Good Guys Tree Service." I was kind of desperate to have my live oaks trimmed before the fall, so I called 3 companies to quote on 3 small/medium live oaks. Good guys was the quickest one to reply with the quote of $700 (Seven Hundred dollars) so I [stupidly] scheduled for them to come for the next morning. Their crew is quick, they did the job in about 2 hours, I feel that my trees were not trimmed enough, many of the trimming were not sealed, there were a lot of branches left that I had to clean myself. Some points of my review for you to consider before scheduling with them: * If I had waited A DAY I had saved $400!!! So they're ridiculously OVERPRICED! * I was expecting that they could trim all the trees very carefully and not in a hurry * My trees are still full and they don't look trimmed, one of the branches still reaches the top of my car read more

Good Guys came out to clean up our overgrown backyard. They were friendly, but we aren't thrilled with the result. They were far too aggressive in their pruning and took too much off our tress. I had specifically asked for some of the foliage to be left to screen our yard from our neighbors, but they removed all of the branches except for a puff of green at the top. :( Look up "lion tailing" and you will see what I am talking about. From what I have read, cedar trees can die if they are pruned to aggressively - I am crossing my fingers that ours won't. They arrived around 8:00 a.m. and were gone by 1:45 p.m. - not much time to spend carefully and systematically pruning about 20 trees. Also, we had 4 companies bid the job, they were BY FAR the most expensive. read more

I'm a bit late on my review, but last month I had these guys trim 3 large trees in my yard. They were very professional from the initial bid to the follow up call after the work was completed. You could tell everyone that works here knew their stuff. The time frame to schedule me in was within 48hrs after contact and the crew that came out was awesome! They let me know what exactly they were going to be doing (which was correct) and then they got to it. Very quick work for such a large job. YES I WATCHED. lol. I got a recommendation from one of my best friends who lives in our neighborhood for Good Guys Tree Service. Bobby went on and on about how easy they were to work with and were very affordable. When he used them last summer he just needed them to come layover a tree in his back yard. He called them, they came out and told him since all they were doing is making a few cuts would do it for $150. He then went on to explain that they showed up a day later and had his large oak tree on the ground in 30 mins and left. That was my expectation and hope. I got a different outcome at first. I put a complaint about The Good Guy Tree Service and was immediately called by the owner. He then wowed me by stopping by with in 10 mins. I am SOOOOOOO impressed with this company!!!! I called several tree companies looking for someone to help me tame my large overgrown yard. Matt called ahead on the day that the estimate was scheduled to let me know that he was on his way to my house and would be a few minutes late. After we walked the yard and came up with a strategy Matt gave me a VERY fair estimate for the work that was to be done. This morning Matt and his crew showed up bright and early. We reviewed our agreed upon plan and his crew went to work. They were all fast and efficient and had the job done in a little more than an hour! I didn't know what to expect relative to cost of having some dead trees removed and quite frankly was dreading to hear the $ amount. I was so pleasantly surprised at the estimate that I added on some additional services that I'd be holding off doing. I've had several other companies do work for me in the past and Good Guys seemed to be much more reasonable. We need trimming of our many large oak trees to clear the roof, raise clearance from the street/driveway, and remove dead branches. I obtained several bids, and Good Guys' was very competitive. We also appreciated Casey's knowledge and professionalism. The work was scheduled promptly (very important since oak wilt season will soon be here) and the crew arrived when scheduled. These guys were amazing! It was like watching a Cirque du Soleil performance with chain saws! The work was completed in a couple of hours, and they left the yard perfectly clean. Advised against something they could have charged us for that I thought we needed. Deep fertilization of a extra tree they decided at the last minute needed a little help. We had missed it during their first visit. On time both calls. Wore masks. Polite and caring. Husband is handicapped but they worked well with him.
