3 Sept. 2026 There are not enough words to describe how substandard our meal was at Good Hope Dumpling and Ramen House. We were so hopeful, as the Yelp ratings were competitive; other patrons were there dining when we arrived; and several people came for takeout orders. We ordered chives pork dumplings and Tan Tan Ramen. All standard fare. Both were completely inedible. The filling for the chive pork dumplings looked undercooked; the appetizer was presented in a haphazard fashion; the dipping sauce lacked flavor; and the dumplings themselves were fried on one side and soggy and undercooked on the other. We managed a nibble. The Tan Tan Ramen was even worse. (They must buy stock photographs online to represent their dishes. The Tan Tan Ramen in person looks nothing like the pictures online.) The "broth" was completely insipid, with no depth of flavor. It was actually watery, and my lunch company described it as "tomato sauce diluted with water." We were shocked at how bad it was. It's a very small shop, and it was uncomfortable because the workers were essentially watching us as we ate. We do not like to hurt people's feelings, and so we got everything to go. After we left, we threw everything away and were left with a metallic, awful aftertaste from having tried some of the Tan Tan Ramen and sharp stomach pains from what we suspect were the pork dumplings. Part of the issue may be that this is a kind of Pan-Asian or Asian-fusion place. It seemed more Chinese than anything else. Maybe the Chines dishes are good. The Ramen should be taken off the menu immediately. They have "ramen" and "dumpling" in their name, suggesting that they have mastered these two dishes. They most certainly have not. Avoid. This. Place. (Also, just drive to New Haven's The Loop and compare.) read more

Came here on a Friday afternoon. Open seating. Very nice woman served us. We loved the spicy Sichuan dumplings (that she recommended) were our favorite - that sauce! But the pan fried dumplings and soup dumplings were also good. The pickled daikon was another favorite. And the chicken bao topped us off. It was our first time and Good Hope Dumpling and we will surely be back. It is a small restaurant/ take out. We were warmly greeted and seated at once. Our waiter was so kind and helpful. Food was excellent. First we had Bubble tea ( I like mine unsweetened) , strawberry Chinese soda ( fun), and coke. Service was excellent. We started with pork Soup Dumplings- super! Nicely done. We had delicious spring rolls with a mildly sweet sauce. Then we had Chicken Stir Fry Ramen. Nicely done with good pieces of chicken. Excellent. My husband can't eat spicy and it was great. This is the "hole in the wall" style ramen joint you've been looking for. I took a chance while on the hunt solo for something to eat and popped into this place. I ordered one of the special Ramen dishes and it crushed it. Excellent work! Just the right amount of spice - I think it was called volcano - but it wasn't overly spicy, it was perfect. Noodles were good, pork was good, the broth was excellent. The people working there were very nice. I enjoyed the food so much that I actually ended up ordering a noodle dish and some dumplings to go. And I added a mochi for dessert. So if you're out and about and hungry and could really use a warming bowl of Ramen, Good Hope is a good choice. read more

I only like the wonton and dumplings here. (4 stars) We tried other dishes and didn't like them. However, they hurt my personal feelings.... ‍ I was indirectly being scold by the owner because I ordered through yelp for a pickup order instead of calling them directly, since they have to pay yelp 30%. Now they are not making money and i pay more (that's the message passed back to me loud and clear) i was the blame. (But, they put that button made it available to place order / delivery...why do that if you dont want to pay the fee?) .....Your business did not get hurt by me ordering through this app, if this is the case it's because you accept yelp's term. Please don't blame me for that, kindly see if you can ask yelp to take that feature out ? So over the family dinner it became the topic on how i should have just called them to order. OK,FINE..... Small little place right next to Valencia, this shop can hardly host more than 10 people, so mostly a take out place. It's a mixture of Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese cuisines and picked the best menu items from those countries. I have tried their dumplings, Ramen and surprise surprise, even Pho! and all have been consistently good. They do have a decent menu, ranging from Dumplings, Shumai, Ramen, Pho, Boba, Thai Iced Tea and even Crepes. Parking can be tough as its on a Main street and the spots compete with several other restaurants in that block and across from it. They are my go to Pho and Ramen place these days. read more

There's hope in Good Hope! This is a Global 3 star rating and a four.5 for the area. Smackalakin handmade dumplings and stars of the show. Mala wings too small and needed more salt, msg, and mala! The ramen broth shows patience and care in its preparation. The variations are ample but not extensive. Everyone easily found a good fit. And the dumplings are also a must even in you think a bowl of ramen will do. We paid Good Hope Dumpling and Ramen House a visit when we visited Norwalk for the first time and just got lucky. Coming back from shopping and brutally cold outside. Time for Ramen and Dumplings. My friend and I shared an order of pan-fried pork, shrimp and cubed dumpling. It was freshly made and fillings was not a paste but distinct pin pork and shrimp. We also order the Good Hope Ramen which had braised beef and bok choy. It was spicy but really warming in this cold. Braised beef was generous chunks of tender beef and smoke collagen. Their lemon iced tea was just right and not too sweet. The place was cozy with cute cushions of dogs and koalas along the banquette. It's a small shop with only 2-3 people that greeted you warmly and answered readily any questions. I'm not sure who were the owners before but the food was excellent. We were throughly impressed with the food. We ordered the beef pho, chicken stir fried dish and the steamed chicken dumplings. This is very small restaurant but cozy with comfy chairs not like this other restaurant we visited where the chairs were like sitting on a bucket of rocks. Parking was a breeze and Good Hope customer service was superb. We went with it was very cold but the seating area was nice and toasty however when I went to the bathroom, it was as if I went outside. It was freezing. read more

I went with the Good Hope Ramen and the pan-seared Chicken Dumplings. The ramen was simply incredible--the perfect level of spice, with braised beef and broth seasoned to perfection. The dumplings were excellent, too, and came with a delicious dipping sauce that you have to ask for (unless you order the pork dumplings). The attention to detail and flavors here are exceptional. Stopped in for a snack. The staff speaks Chinese, and we tried a few things. The pork dumpling with Szechuan sauce had too much ginger in the meat, and the sauce should've been a bit sweeter instead of as spicy. The bubble tea was ok, chewy bubbles but the tea was one I didn't like (like a flowery Jasmine). The chicken stir fry taken was excellent though. I highly recommend. While some bits of chicken could have been warmer and used some marination, the noodles were chewy and well flavored. Jackpot! Wow! What a great place for takeout or dining in. We were passing through Norwalk and I saw the positive reviews for this restaurant. I live a long way from Norwalk, however I pass through on a regular basis heading to NYC. This will now be a detour and only five minutes from 95. Forget the environment. You have tables and chairs and hopefully you get a seat when you arrive. They make their own dumplings and have a "secret sauce" to accompany it. We got the chicken dumplings. They were excellent. Loved the "secret sauce". We didn't stop there with appetizers. We also got the pork soup dumplings that were delicious. Still not done with appetizers- We also had the roast pork buns. Large size and again, excellent. Entrees: I had Shrimp Stir-fry Ramen. It was better than Lo Mein. Very tasty. Loved it. The noodles were very fresh and the thickness was just right. Next time I would try the chicken. The shrimp were good but small and I didn't taste them. Also ordered was Pork Tonkutsu. I was told it was very tasty. The owner was very friendly and the service was very quick. We will definitely include this great place with our travels. Check it out. It's worth the drive. read more
