    Shoyu and miso ramen

This place was surprisingly good! The char siu buns were perfect - and it's hard to find these so I was really excited to get them. The ramen bowls are a nice portion size (I couldn't quite finish it), nice and hot, and tasted great! It's not cheap (I mean what is anymore?) but it's really good quality food at a mall. Can't wait to go back!

The food is good. I wish they had better service. The service is strange. I ordered a spicy ramen and and asked for an additional bowl. The guy at the register gave me a paper tray. When I asked again - he said that paper tray was the bowl. He had small takeout bowls which he was unwilling to part with. The paper tray leaked all over. Strange.

Good prices. Very quick food served. Hot. The karaage fried chicken was hot and tasty. The Tempura Shrimp Udon was good too.

The ramen noodles are thick and tasty, and there are plenty of good additional things. The broth tastes really good, too. The food came out quickly, and the staff were very friendly.

Quick and easy. Good enough if craving ramen. May be nice if there's a little more meat with the soup but we really didn't expect much considering it's located inside a mall with a fast food feel. They have a plain ramen option so kids were happy with that.

    Spicy Ramen

The Spicy Ramen was not a good choice. The noodles weren't fully cooked and when discussed with the owner he did not bother to replace with any other dish or side dish, no refund, nothing. They fail in providing any decent customer service. Save yourself the disappointment and go to nearby food spots for better customer service and quality of products.

Ive been there for dinner time as well, it's lively, loud in a good way, and immediately feels like somewhere you could stay for hours. I ordered the miso ramen, and it was honestly one of the most satisfying bowls of ramen I've had in Connecticut. The broth was the star of the dish its deep, rich, savory, and layered with that perfect balance of umami and subtle sweetness from the miso and a bit nitty form the sesame seeds. The noodles had the perfect texture: chewy, springy, and able to hold onto the broth beautifully. Nothing was overcooked or mushy . What impressed me most was how balanced the ramen was. Some ramen spots go overboard with salt or spice, but this bowl felt refined. Rich but not greasy. Flavorful but not overpowering. You could tell there was actual technique behind it. The portion size was also generous enough to leave completely full without feeling uncomfortable afterward. The service matched the food perfectly and so freaking sweet. I have trying to rec this all my coworkers

ORIGIN: Chef/Owner Jeff Taibe initially opened Taproot in…read moresuburban Bethel with wife Steph Sweeney (Owner/Manager), but found a good percent of their innovation-seeking customers travel from Connecticut's shoreline to visit. After they became aware of the availability of a large space restaurant in the city of Norwalk, the restaurant migrated to its present spot. LOCATION: The restaurant is in a lively location, with a movie theater across the street and a convenient parking lot in the back. ATMOSPHERE: The space, which is divided by walls into three dining areas, has a "shabby chic" aesthetic and is lit by tall and wide paned industrial windows. EXPERIENCE: I've visited for brunch and Happy Hour with friends who live or work in Norwalk. Chef Taibe is creative and skillful, and I'm forever impressed by the dishes he serves. As a result, it comes as no surprise that the restaurant was recognized as best in Fairfield County during the Connecticut Restaurant Association's 2023 Crazies award ceremony. (Chef Taibe was finalist for best chef in all of the state the very same year.) The pimento cheese starter topped with Benton ham jam (happy hour/dinner) and smoked brisket hash (brunch) highlight how Chef Jeff Taibe transforms and elevates common menu items into ones that are memorable and crave-inducing. TIPS: Adding to the menu variety, specials are available between 5-9 pm as follows: Tuesdays: Burger plus Beer combo ($18); Wednesdays: Seafood discounts and specials; Thursdays: Smoked Prime Rib ($65); Fridays: Fossil Farm Game specials. It appears that walk ins are always seated in bar dining area, regardless of whether the central dining area appears free. If you rather not sit on a high top bench or stool, a reservation is recommended. The restaurant is also accessible via a back parking lot entrance.
