    Menu - Dec 2023

TL;DR version: Really nice ambiance interior decor, unclear reservation policy, and really mediocre Chinese food. Called about making a reservation for Christmas Eve and was told they don't take reservations that night which is why it was a little off-putting when we walked in that night and were asked if we had reservations so we had to wait 20-30 minutes for a table - and there was clearly a table reserved for a large party right in the center of the dining area. But it's fine, they have a nice bar area with TVs for waiting. Onto our meal - also Dec 2023 menu photos attached: - Roti Canai (Malaysian pancake): Crispy and went well with the curry sauce but the pancake itself was way too oily. - Cold Sesame Noodles: Decent, the fried wontons included ended up being more like spinach and cheese rangoons which was interesting and a first time seeing something like this served with sesame noodles but not bad. - Steamed Pork Dumplings: Bland, the dumpling filling and also the dipping sauce. - Singapore Rice Noodles: Bland - "light curry sauce" was a little bit too light. Could've used more sauce. - Mama's Fried Rice (chinese sausage, onion, scallions & eggs): Decent, still a little bland for my tastes - a more sweet than savory fried rice because of the sweetness of chinese sausage - but serviceable. - Kung Pao Chicken: Got this because saw it mentioned so frequently and looked promising. Just ok, nicely glazed. Presentable, nice thin crispy strips but also felt like more fried breading than chicken itself. - Tangerine Beef: Served on a shao bing/chinese flatbread. Sweetness overload. I couldn't even eat this. It was sickeningly sweet. My advice is don't do what we did and get this AND kung pao chicken. Too much sweet fried meat. - Eel Cucumber $9 & Shrimp Avocado Roll $7: Not too expensive but just average quality. I kind of expected more from a place with a more upscale ambiance. I can't comment on the raw fish as I was pregnant at the time of my visit but my MIL did order the tri-color sushi combo and the color/texture of the fish also looked equally mediocre as my rolls. FYI, they are semi-gluten-free friendly. For cooked dishes, they can make SOME GF but our server was also telling us not to/we couldn't get certain things which sounded like they just didn't want to make the dish fresh for us with temari (aka it might be pre-made already) and they will give you temari packets of soy sauce if you order sushi.

We were next door at Fine Wines of Westport when we spotted the Little Kitchen and headed in. Wow. This was a great choice. The place was large with many seating options. The waiter was extremely nice and very established as he created many customers in a familiar way. The service was provided by that same waiter and we really enjoyed having him. The food was excellent. The Roti Cani and Szechuan Dumplings in spicy peanut sauce were both delicious. The sauce for both was spot on with flavor. We ordered general Tao's and (per recommendation) these noodles (I don't remember the name) that had a little spice and a lot of flavor! The general Tao's was cut thin and beautifully saucy. We were beyond pleased with our meal and our service. We will definitely be going back!

We were going to go somewhere else, but they were closed and this popped up on Yelp so we decided to give it a try. Everything was so good - the tuna tartare was finely ground tuna and had an almost sweet flavor, served with a delicious chipotle sauce. Was a big portion for an app. The seaweed salad was also a pretty big portion and we ended up saving it for the next day. Gyoza was standard but good. The Mount Fuji was so good - a bunch of different types of seafood with a lot of flavor. I barely even added soy sauce because it overpowered the more gentle but present flavors of all the fish. For rolls, we got the pink lady roll, spicy girl roll, sex and the city roll, and yamafuji roll. Each one was better than the last and I'd get them all again! They were BIG and filling. Last thing we got was the sushi pizza which was SO GOOD. The "crust" was a scallion pancake and it had so much flavor. Would definitely order everything again!

Not a chain restaurant and not very big. As it turns out, it was a perfect combination for an UH-MAZ-ING meal! Literally, upon entering the front door, a curtain pulls to the side as we entered the restaurant. A nice little touch like you're entering a whole new world. It's a quaint little spot, maybe 20 or so tables total and some bar seating available. We had a small group of 7 and fit right along the far wall. Asked for some special favors from the hostess and she was more than accommodating. Our server, Julia was phenomenal. She gave us some time to socialize, choose our meals and looked after us as if we were her only table (while taking care of a couple other tables at the same time). Very personable and helpful along the way, not just someone who took our orders only never to be seen again. She had some great suggestions and was very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was spectacular! I initially ordered a few appetizers for the table. She suggested a Makimono dish which was a selection of the same items I requested and a few more! Perfect for sharing! We enjoyed a variety of entree selections from their menu including poke bowls, sushi and grilled meats and fish. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The desserts were a perfect casual finish to our meal! Can't say enough good things about our experience at OKO Kitchen. The service and food were spot on! Keep on Yelp'n!

We had the crab fried rice that was very tasty and a good portion- shareable when ordered with other items. We had an array of nigiri. It's a small restaurant with city vibes, friendly service. It was expensive and I'm not completely sure everything was worth the cost, for a special occasion, it is worth it.

Ive been there for dinner time as well, it's lively, loud in a good way, and immediately feels like somewhere you could stay for hours. I ordered the miso ramen, and it was honestly one of the most satisfying bowls of ramen I've had in Connecticut. The broth was the star of the dish its deep, rich, savory, and layered with that perfect balance of umami and subtle sweetness from the miso and a bit nitty form the sesame seeds. The noodles had the perfect texture: chewy, springy, and able to hold onto the broth beautifully. Nothing was overcooked or mushy . What impressed me most was how balanced the ramen was. Some ramen spots go overboard with salt or spice, but this bowl felt refined. Rich but not greasy. Flavorful but not overpowering. You could tell there was actual technique behind it. The portion size was also generous enough to leave completely full without feeling uncomfortable afterward. The service matched the food perfectly and so freaking sweet. It's acidic, savory and has the perfect crunch to it. The crab Rangoons are sooo good. They give you plenty of sauce and you can tell it's the good crab. The cold sesame noodles are perfect! A little bit of heat, a bunch of flavor. I'm drooling just thinking about it! The chili dumplings were good but a little too spicy for me! We also really enjoyed the kimchi carbonara and personally, I'm a sucker for udon noodles! And now the star of the show for me and something I've ordered three times now! The crab fried rice! The crab is so tender and buttery, like it actually melts in your mouth. And the pork belly chunks in it, also tender and delicious. I like dream of this dish every week! I think the first time I ate there was around 1986 or '87 as a kid, and honestly, it looks much the same today. Is it high-end dining? No. But that's never been the point. It's solid, reliable, family-friendly, and consistent. Where else can you get a salad, soup, a generous hibachi dinner, and a little entertainment from the chef for around $35 a person? Kids are under $20, too. In an era when a casual dinner out can easily cost twice that (or even a sandwich and coffee), it's refreshing to find a place that still delivers good value. Some restaurants spend decades chasing trends. Others figure out what works and stick with it. After more than 40 years, Sakura is still doing exactly that, and I'm glad it is.

Here's my opinion/experience on everything that others complained about. 1. Parking. There's a giant lot surrounding the restaurant and we were there at 7 PM on a Saturday. No issues. Parked right by the front door (the place was packed & parking was a non-issue). 2. Wait times. I called at 4 and made a reservation for a party of 4 at a hibachi table. They were able to give us a 7:15 reservation and we were sitting by 7:19. 3. The crowded lobby. Yes, it's crowded. They do a good job of trying to get people through and to their respective tables. 4. The food. I thought the food was amazing. My seven year old even tried things she normally does not. We all had an amazing dinner and the food was perfectly cooked. 5. Atmosphere. The hibachi room is loud (like really loud) when it's busy/full. This really was the only less than ideal part. There's like 8-10 hibachi tables in one room with low ceilings so it's a lot of stimulation. My grandma couldn't hear anything throughout dinner. And idk why anyone would say the place was looking aged/worn down. It looked perfectly fine to us. 6. Service. Absolutely amazing! And our hibachi chef was so entertaining. More entertaining than any hibachi I've had anywhere else. Overall, 5 stars! We will be back. Probably soon!

It is the kind of place that works perfectly for a casual date night or a comforting dinner when you are craving something rich and flavorful. We started with the agedashi tofu and Sapporo, which was a great way to ease into the meal. The tofu was lightly crisp on the outside and silky inside, sitting in a savory broth that balanced sweetness and umami nicely. Paired with a cold Sapporo, it set the tone for a solid evening. My girlfriend ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen, which came out steaming and fragrant. The broth was creamy and pork forward with a steady heat that built gradually without overwhelming the palate. The noodles had a nice chew and the toppings were well portioned. I went with the mazemen, which was bold and satisfying. Rich sauce coating thick noodles, topped with a perfectly jammy egg and fresh scallions for brightness. It was hearty and full of flavor, the kind of dish that leaves you full and content. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, with dim lighting and a laid back energy that encourages you to settle in. Service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The only reason this lands at four stars instead of five is that while everything was very good, it did not quite reach that unforgettable level.
