Chili oil dumplings with the oil on the side There is cilantro on them
Jen C.

This was the only place packed on the street. Little did we know it was happy hour so half price on their munchie section plus half off sake. Mon-Fri 3-6pm. The ambiance is nice clean and lots of old, young, all kinds of people. The staff are super nice and the food is tasty! We got the egg rolls, sweet and sour ribs, the chili oil dumplings. Kale salad - this was a little too much dressing. Get the dressing on the side is better. We also got side of avocado for the salad which was great they gave us such big portions! The food was excellent, some items on the spicy side. I like the mix of pho, Thai, sushi, ramen on the menu. Lots of items with lemongrass and cilantro. Their Thai tea bubble tea was very good too. Hit the sweet spot.

It is very dangerous to have Mecha Noodle bar so close to me, as previously I would had to plan a trip to Fairfield, but now being so close to home, I might find myself signing up for their Frequent Pho Plan, Pho Sure. The menu is small but very appropriate and more importantly the food is consistently good. Their mushroom dumplings with the marvelous sauce is the best appetizer, and you can't go wrong with any of the pho's. Prices are great, staff is all consistently good and the cool vibe makes it an ideal place to meet up with friends and enjoy the Vietnamese fusion food.

This place always delivers. So yummy and warming! The service was really quick and friendly. They offered advice if you need it or are unfamiliar with the menu. The inside of the restaurant is so pretty and very Asian inspired Decor! The inside is really clean and they have bar spaces and also a tables, but they also have tables that are technically called community tables so you might be sitting next to people if it's really busy

Stumbled upon this ramen place on a random trip up to Norwalk. Pretty good ramen and bao buns. Nice service and ambiance. Really liked the vibe of the place.

The food is seasoned well albeit with a liberal hand in sodium ~ I didn't mind but my companion couldn't eat hers.

Tonkotsu 3.0 with a side of chili oil.

I haven't had soup this good in quite some time. This isn't my first trip to Mecha and it won't be my last. I had the tonkotsu this time, and loved it. I've never had a bad dish here. My only complaint are the low stools that did a number on this tall person's back, but now that I know that, I'll pick a different seat.

Washington Street, the small strip in SoNo where restaurants are not known to survive, Mecha is not only standing the test of time, but thriving as one of the most, if not THE most popular restaurant downtown...and it's very apparent to see why. I started the meal off with two pork belly bao buns and it set the tone of the night because the pork was perfectly cooked. The ramen has been reliable since the day they opened so I usually get the Tonkotsu, but wanted something different so the waiter recommended I swapping the pork for the beef. 10/10 suggestion. The drinks here are delicious and pack a decent punch as well. With this type of quality across the board, it makes sense why Mecha is always packed and continues to expand to other locations.

Food: 10/10 get the baos, get the pho, get the dry pho bowl too! Service: 10/10 Nothing special but also nothing bad! Ambiance: 10/10 love the vibes and decor!

I loved the miso the noodles were great, the spicy tuna roll was also great. A but too much on the sodium side with both soups, add more sides to even it out.

This is my boyfriend's favorite restaurant. We have come at least four times and have ordered to go as well. The spicy beef ramen is by far my favorite dish. The broth is rich and flavorful, the noodles were a great medium thickness and not very starchy. Edamame and Kim chi rice taste amazing. A thing I greatly enjoy with Mecha is the consistency of the great tasting food great service. Every experience has exceeded expectations. The staff is super friendly, attentive to detail and thoughtful. Thanks :)

One of my favorite spots. I come once a year - tradition - and the food is always perfect. Steve at the front bar/table has been there every year for the last 4 years and always provides the best suggestions and best service!!!! I really think the food is one of the best around.

They are in a waitlist system but have nowhere for you to wait. Went to the Japanese place next door. They're much less shitty.

I wouldn't recommend the Yaki Onigiri, despite reading positive reviews for it. The fried rice was way too heavy and didn't taste good. The greasiness was competing with the strong taste of the salmon. Some servers knew their job well, and greeted us at the door. A newer server wasn't as knowledgeable on gluten free options there and also didn't take away our used appetizer plates before serving us the mains. Not a huge deal, but it does make a difference in your dining experience and how the flow of your meal goes.

"Comforting Bowls and a Cozy Izakaya Feel"…read more Haruki Ramen & Izakaya delivers a warm and inviting ramen experience that feels both relaxed and satisfying. It is the kind of place that works perfectly for a casual date night or a comforting dinner when you are craving something rich and flavorful. We started with the agedashi tofu and Sapporo, which was a great way to ease into the meal. The tofu was lightly crisp on the outside and silky inside, sitting in a savory broth that balanced sweetness and umami nicely. Paired with a cold Sapporo, it set the tone for a solid evening. My girlfriend ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen, which came out steaming and fragrant. The broth was creamy and pork forward with a steady heat that built gradually without overwhelming the palate. The noodles had a nice chew and the toppings were well portioned. I went with the mazemen, which was bold and satisfying. Rich sauce coating thick noodles, topped with a perfectly jammy egg and fresh scallions for brightness. It was hearty and full of flavor, the kind of dish that leaves you full and content. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, with dim lighting and a laid back energy that encourages you to settle in. Service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The only reason this lands at four stars instead of five is that while everything was very good, it did not quite reach that unforgettable level. Still, it is a dependable spot for quality ramen in Norwalk.

Had Bun Xao and Pho Ga, and my son meant to order rare beef pho but accidentally ordered beef stew, but he had zero regrets it was delicious with huge chunks of beef. I've never had Vietnamese beef stew before but it was very much like American except with vermicelli noodles. My Pho was excellent, but I would have appreciated a bit more protein and it seemed to be lacking a little in saltiness could have been light on salt, soy or fish sauce. Easily remedied at the table. The bun xao also would have appreciated a bit more protein. I cant emphasize enough these were minor issues. Pricing was very good, no complaints.

Service was friendly and helpful and the establishment was very clean including the restrooms. We started out with a pot of hot tea which was so welcomed. The beef stew pho was excellent, warming, and fresh. The fried rice was delicious. Parking can be challenging to find, but other than that we would highly recommend. We are looking forward to trying many more dishes here.

We had to ask for a bigger table and was led towards the end. Very interesting menu, we had the pu'er tea, which is not very commonly offered in the Chinese restaurants in the area. Love the teapot presentation and overall the branding effort. We tried to order the soup dumpling but was told something wasn't working properly and it's going to take over an hour so next time. Got wontons in chili oil, love the flavor. The mushu pork, a little bit too sweet for me. And the beef chow fun, just can't go wrong with that, and the szichuan pot with cumin lamp. I think this more authentic Chinese but my husband felt the lamb was too oily. I requested to get the little cute cat cup for my daughter's lemonade order and they said yes, so it was a very cute touch. Very happy with the visit definitely a lot of potential we will be back.

Ive been there for dinner time as well, it's lively, loud in a good way, and immediately feels like somewhere you could stay for hours. I ordered the miso ramen, and it was honestly one of the most satisfying bowls of ramen I've had in Connecticut. The broth was the star of the dish its deep, rich, savory, and layered with that perfect balance of umami and subtle sweetness from the miso and a bit nitty form the sesame seeds. The noodles had the perfect texture: chewy, springy, and able to hold onto the broth beautifully. Nothing was overcooked or mushy . What impressed me most was how balanced the ramen was. Some ramen spots go overboard with salt or spice, but this bowl felt refined. Rich but not greasy. Flavorful but not overpowering. You could tell there was actual technique behind it. The portion size was also generous enough to leave completely full without feeling uncomfortable afterward. The service matched the food perfectly and so freaking sweet. It's acidic, savory and has the perfect crunch to it. The crab Rangoons are sooo good. They give you plenty of sauce and you can tell it's the good crab. The cold sesame noodles are perfect! A little bit of heat, a bunch of flavor. I'm drooling just thinking about it! The chili dumplings were good but a little too spicy for me! We also really enjoyed the kimchi carbonara and personally, I'm a sucker for udon noodles! And now the star of the show for me and something I've ordered three times now! The crab fried rice! The crab is so tender and buttery, like it actually melts in your mouth. And the pork belly chunks in it, also tender and delicious. I like dream of this dish every week! After they became aware of the availability of a large space restaurant in the city of Norwalk, the restaurant migrated to its present spot. LOCATION: The restaurant is in a lively location, with a movie theater across the street and a convenient parking lot in the back. ATMOSPHERE: The space, which is divided by walls into three dining areas, has a "shabby chic" aesthetic and is lit by tall and wide paned industrial windows. EXPERIENCE: I've visited for brunch and Happy Hour with friends who live or work in Norwalk. Chef Taibe is creative and skillful, and I'm forever impressed by the dishes he serves. As a result, it comes as no surprise that the restaurant was recognized as best in Fairfield County during the Connecticut Restaurant Association's 2023 Crazies award ceremony. (Chef Taibe was finalist for best chef in all of the state the very same year.) The pimento cheese starter topped with Benton ham jam (happy hour/dinner) and smoked brisket hash (brunch) highlight how Chef Jeff Taibe transforms and elevates common menu items into ones that are memorable and crave-inducing. TIPS: Adding to the menu variety, specials are available between 5-9 pm as follows: Tuesdays: Burger plus Beer combo ($18); Wednesdays: Seafood discounts and specials; Thursdays: Smoked Prime Rib ($65); Fridays: Fossil Farm Game specials. It appears that walk ins are always seated in bar dining area, regardless of whether the central dining area appears free. If you rather not sit on a high top bench or stool, a reservation is recommended. The restaurant is also accessible via a back parking lot entrance.
