And I'm so glad I did, for 2 key reasons: 1.) IT WORKS: From a purely functional perspective, the treatment definitely helps keep pests at bay. For the first few weeks after we moved into the house, spiders, ants, and palmetto bugs were nearly everyday occurrences (as they tend to be in Florida). After Royal Palm treated, it felt like we had our house back. We pay for quarterly treatments, and while they offer free interim treatments if we notice an uptick in pests in the home, we've never had to avail ourselves of that offer. If we ever see an insect in the house, it's rare, and they've usually given up the ghost by the time we find them. 2.) CUSTOMER SERVICE IS SPECTACULAR: They always call US to schedule our quarterly treatments, which is a nice perk because I'd never remember. They're always friendly and professional. And our technician (Craig) is a super nice guy. Very efficient, always on time, AND he wears booties over his shoes when he comes into the house, which is such a nice touch. We like to maintain a "shoe-free" home to keep the floors clean, but we don't typically ask guests to remove their shoes because we don't want to make folks feel uncomfortable. So the fact that he wears paper booties over his shoes as a matter of course is just an incredibly thoughtful thing to do. Again, highly recommended!

We called them initially to manage silverfish we discovered in a bathroom. They were placing a powdered substance at the baseboards. All they managed to do was chase the silverfish all over the house until we finally told them to spray something that would kill the silverfish or be fired. The technician complained saying he wouldn't want that chemical in his house which, of course, was not helpful. Maybe he doesn't mind living with bugs but we do!

The inside of the house, garage, attic, and lanai were not inspected. After the inspection, I called and spoke with a manager because I was surprised that the inside had not been inspected. I was told that I needed to specifically request that the inside be inspected. That is not something I would have expected to have to request when paying for an inspection. I also had a small ant issue near a water spigot. When I asked the technician if he could take a quick look at it, I was told, "No, I can't look at it. That's not part of the inspection." After 33 years of doing business with this company, I found that response very disappointing. I wasn't asking for extensive additional work--I simply hoped someone would take a moment to look at a small pest issue. My husband and I have recently lost both sets of our parents and have taken on several rental properties. We were actually hoping to simplify things by putting all of our properties under one termite and pest-control company. Unfortunately, after this experience, it will not be Bug-Guard. What disappointed me almost as much as the inspection itself was the way my concerns were handled. The responses I received felt filled with corporate language and upselling rather than genuine customer service.
