    Nachos with spicy chicken

Great place for a casual lunch or drinks! A downtown Dartmouth staple, Battery Park is a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere with plenty of beer and great food. My dad is a regular here, and I popped in for a quick lunch. Service was quick and everyone is so friendly. It's a reliable place to have a good meal and a drink. I had the Nachos, which were pulled high and well seasoned. They are unlike most nachos and include smoked cheddar, Gouda and a queso.

We came for the mussels (which sounded delicious from an old menu we found), but we were told that they had to reduce the menu due to COVID. While we didn't try any food, we did try a flight of some of Nova Scotia's local beers. Highly recommended to all beer lovers!

Funny street, fun place! We stayed in the bar mostly, though there appears to be a restaurant portion orv deck in the back. Not the best place for small children though sure to the lack of booster seats, but if you have your own, you're good. Food was quite good. We had a fried fish sandwich, which was basically fish and chips but on a bun, with peas and curry as toppers. We also had a donair burger, which, you guessed it, was a donair but built on a hamburger bun. Both were great, though the hamburger bun itself was a little weak - they could stand to use a better roll. But it was still good. Beer! This place has wine and cocktails, and 18 taps of beer, at least. Want to try the local brews? This is the place to go, because they have them all, figuratively speaking. Great service, prompt and friendly. This is the place to try the local beer scene!

    Fish tacos and fries

Me and my friend decided to have a water front picnic. We got fish tacos and fries. A huge portion, super filling. The fries were cooked so well, and exactly the kind of fries you'd want to eat with fish tacos. The tacos were everything I wanted them to be.Damn it now I'm craving fish tacos again so guess I'll be coming back soon. You gotta try them

Given my passion for microbrewers and craft beer, this place has been on my list to try for a while. It was a dark grey, cold February, with a storm on the way and I was looking for some HRM-hygge. The Nano brewery tap takeover- where a bunch of the smaller NS breweries (like one step up from home brewing) got to showcase their wares- seemed like a good time to try. Comparisons to Stillwell Beer Bar, across the harbour, are inevitable. One thing I liked right away is how much easier it was to park by Battery Park. I found a spot pretty much out front and it wasn't even metered. Bonus. On the Halifax-side with all the construction, and limited spots, I have to spend 20 minutes looking for parking that's a 10 minute walk away. *Insert joke about working off beer here*. IF I am lucky. The place is on two levels with a brewery/retail place in the bottom and bar upstairs. Right away I liked the decor. It is less industrial than Stillwell with more wood, softer lighting and less metal. The beer-kitsch decorations (empty beer bottles over the bar) further soften the edges. There was plenty of seating at the bar and I thought I saw some small tables for the less communial seating inclined. The bartender knew her stuff and was only too happy to give samples. I counted an impressive 16 beer taps plus a cask and cider. I could have been happily snowed in here. I saw the heads of a couple of NS breweries at the bar as well. The bar tender said it is usual occurrence. It was late afternoon and I hadn't had lunch yet so eagerly checked out the menu. The options were pretty pricey- $17 for the burger platter, $$9.5 for a hotdog. I went with the special- a "slider" burger ($4) and a small fries with harrisa mayo ($3.5). I was so hungry, I didn't stop to take a picture I'm afraid. The fries were hand-cut, skin on and perfectly hot and crispy. While the burger was tasty it was only two bites. I felt like $4 for it was wallet gouging. Two for $6 or something would have been more reasonable. I look forward to imbibing here again to fight off the Winter blahs. I can already picture taking the ferry across in the Summer and enjoying their rear patio.

I went here the other night after wanting to check out this stop since it opened up. First impression, very cool spot. Great selection of local beer and good food. This isn't much of a surprise since it is a partnership between the owners of Brooklyn Warehouse and North Brewing Company. Well done... The space is pretty busy during the weekends, from a discussion with the staff the weekends are pretty much full up, with lineups out the door in the early hours of the evening. We were lucky as we got in just as a table was leaving. Decor was great, with exposed beams and chalkboards showcasing beer and food. The staff was also really great. Friendly and full of suggestions. There are lots of drinks to choose from and they really know how to recommend beverages that will delight. Great spot for someone living in Downtown Dartmouth, or someone that wants to check out the scene on that side of the harbour. Fantastic addition to the city and the neighbourhood.

What a GREAT find! Not sure if many tourists can find this…read moreplace, 1 mile out of the way; but worth the visit in my opinion. Quality/Quantity - ESB, closest they had to a red and it fulfilled my needs. Atmosphere - Cool decor and art. See pictures. There is also an arcade here, but it was closed when we arrived. Indoor/outdoor spaces. Dog friendly. Full service or a to-go area. Open 7 days a week from noon until 8pm, 10pm, or midnight. See picture. Yelp's and their website's hours differ slightly. Service - 6 stars. Sorry, I forgot his name, as it has been almost 3 months since I visited. Yes, I am very behind on my Yelps due to my extensive travels. He was so patient, a GREAT ambassador of the brand. Sampled a few beers for me, etc. He even offered and brought out a blanket for my wife when he noticed she was cold and I prefer to sit outside rather than inside. Thank you again! Price - Reasonable price + generous tip, especially since we are out of the tourist areas. Owner Suggestion - Congrats on your success since 1997 with our 4+ locations and since 2013 with this location. I am so glad that John's (the founder) first beer was the ESB which was the one I got.

The room is cozy and classy, with darkly-painted wainscoting, warm wallpaper and just enough lighting to set the mood without straining the eyes of its older clientele (re. me) . That's not to say it's all blue hairs here, but there's definitely a different crowd here than the latest, trendy spot. Looking to satiate our hunger after a long day, the menu had a lot of tempting options for my wife and I. They've got a commendable handful of bar bites - pickles, pickled eggs, sweet and spicy nuts, and a few assorted carbs - but we were feeling something more substantial. The mains are probably the most traditional part of the menu, which utilizes the plus sign instead of an ampersand or the word 'and', so they stay cool that way. I kid, and I dig traditional pub food; all the more so when it gets a more creative touch in composition and execution than your typical pub, which Quinn's menu definitely seems to be going for. I went for the minced beef + cheese pie, while my other half chose the bangers + mash. The ol' plus sign really reads better on a menu. With a limited crowd, it didn't take long for our food to arrive. Savoury pastries can be a double-edged sword, and since my youthful days of microwaved Pizza Pockets (TM) (I've grown to bake them as the mature adult with discerning tastes that I am), I have learned nothing. A hungry man is not a patient one, and I have the mouth burns to prove it. The menu states that the pie is made from beef blade, caramelized onions and an HP + cheddar sauce, but when this all combined in the hot mess of a pie, while delicious, it mainly came off as rich and salty. Not fake gravy salty, but still pretty salty. And this is coming from an avowed lover of salty foods. I appreciated that the roasted garlic mashed potatoes didn't pull any punches and had a big hit of vampire repellent. The charred broccoli was a subtle green flag - steamed and boiled veg (often from frozen) is a telltale sign of a restaurant that isn't even trying, so even this small tweak to the preparation makes a meaningful difference. My wife's meal was quite similar to mine, but two large sausages took the place of my pie. Chorizo sausages tagged in for whatever the standard British sausage is, and the flavour and mild hit of spice was a welcome upgrade. Service was easy going and attentive throughout our meal. Quinpool Road has an eclectic assortment of restaurants and having a pub that's putting in some effort is a great little anchor for the neighbourhood's food scene.

Even though we knew about where it was, we walked right past the beautiful two-story historic house initially. We knew by taking a look at the website they do not accept reservations, which was fine with us. We were, however, going on a Friday night. On walking into the main entry, that space was packed wall-to-wall. Within a few short minutes, one of the staff greeted us. They don't exactly have a formal wait list here, from what I could tell. The staff member offered us the drinks menu and asked if we'd like to order something while we waited on a table. We ordered up a couple of pints, then looked around for some open space to stand. They have two standing bar rails, one in the main area near the bar itself and another one in the middle dining area. This place has about the most creative layout of booths and tables I've ever seen. They do have an outdoor patio out back, but we didn't take a look at that. They have quite a few very comfy two-person booths around the interior. It appeared the way the wait list worked was that they either have a phenomenal memory, or they actually use the bar tab you open to work like a wait list. It seems to really be more about how many you have in your party, and the exact size of any tables/booths that open up. We might have waited about 30 minutes or so for our table for two up in the front of the main dining room. Every single person on the wait staff here is amazing. Let me just get that out of the way. The beer list is great, loaded up with so many good local and Nova Scotia craft beer options. The food menu is what really makes this place special, though. We were on vacation, so we may have a tendency for our eyes to be bigger than our stomachs can handle. There was just so many amazing looking dishes. We started out with a pickle jar, fried taters, and the tomatoes appetizers. I have to say, and my wife agrees, the tomatoes dish was the best of everything we had. Its made up of sliced cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, shallots, capers, and garlic chips. All that is sitting on top of creme fraiche. By the time you're finishing the dish, you start thinking about a straw to finish up that creme fraiche. Good grief, that was so good. Don't pass on the fried taters, though. Those seemed to be mashed potatoes formed into rectangular big fries, cooked almost like panko and served with horseradish sour cream. After all that, we could only muster splitting the deli style chop salad with cold water shrimp on it. Our great waitress talked us into an order of the brown bread, a very soft kind of Irish soda bread I believe. That bread just melts in your mouth. If you decide to venture out to The Narrows, you're in for a total experience. You'll feel like you stepped back in time to a real British pub... the house must be from somewhere around the mid 1800s. Every room is warm and cozy, with beautiful woodwork and curious antiques in all sorts of nooks and crannies. You may have quite a long wait depending on the size of your party and how busy the place is, but trust me... its worth every minute.
