Very responsive, up-to-date on latest issues and solutions, excellent educational programs for all…read morestaff. Very caring staff, answer calls immediately unlike some in town that roll in to leave a message at the tone and never call you back and others that never have even laid eyes on or touched their clients in a facility for two weeks but rely total on facility staff to do their job, for which staff is not trained nor expected to do! Vitas is A+

My dad received hospice care from VITAS. We were told when we first met with a coordinator that…read moresomeone was available 24/7. We loved our aide who came a few times a week to bathe my dad. She was wonderful and caring. Our nurse was ok but we did see a couple other nurses when ours wasn't available that were outstanding. The social worker who came when my dad passed away was so caring and helpful. Now about the 24/7 care...it was non existent. I called one evening at 6:42 and really needed help. We received a call back at 11:45. Almost 5 hours later. This happened more than once. After hours nurses never ever showed. I called about my dad being in pain at 9:00 on a Friday morning. At 1:00 no one had called me so I called again. I was told they would call in a prescription and a nurse would come and show us how to use it. No nurse ever came. No pain meds. The following Monday my dad had difficulty breathing and our regular nurse called to say he couldn't make it. My mom called and asked for someone else to come because he was really bad. She was told no one was available to come. I ended up calling, talked to a manager, and finally got someone to come. My dad passed away shortly after the nurse left. I thought the idea of hospice was to make the patient comfortable (no pain meds) and make things less stressful for the family. VITAS caused more stress at times with their inconsistent care.

If you are looking for a hospice company, run really far away from Vita. My husband signed on with…read morethem yesterday for his 95 year old father who is in really bad shape. Gets really bad seizures and he was supposed to be discharged from the hospital yesterday after being in for a week from one of his seizures. Well they were supposed to send the equipment to feed him through the peg tube and the liquids they were giving him at the hospital. Yesterday I called at 6 and they said it was sent and someone signed for it. We told them we were home as we also have mom (92) at home. Then she says oh I am sorry they will be delivered tomorrow sometime during the day. I had to calk the hospital and tell them to keep him overnight. He was discharged at 4 pm. At 6pm we called Vita and told them my father in law was home to send the nurse to show me how to use the feeding machine so we can feed him and give him his meds. Well here we are 9pm and we are still waiting for the call. The guy that took the call at 8 would only say like a parrot someone would be there tonight, someone would be there tonight. Run, run, run if this company Vita approaches you. They are horrible.

The tour was great. The promises were great. The reality was POOR. After several visits and tours,…read moreI placed my mother at the Bridges. Carers were there as a job. Not a vocation. They would "check in" on my mother, but then not come back to bathe her or assist as they promised . She went 6 days with no shower. I had to call. The room cleaning was a hit or miss. Picture a reluctant teen forced to do chores on a Saturday, then you understand. The "gourmet" food was soggy salad, cold main course and veg cooked so long it was no longer green. The dessert was yum. It occurred to me the second floor dining room may get hot food as they are served first. so if you are there, go upstairs. I witnessed residents complain about the food, some "lucky" patrons had their food reheated via the microwave. The server assigned to the area I was in was so rude to a resident that asked for a straw (several times) that I asked her if she was alright. I thought a bad day was the reason for her surliness. She informed me she was fine and that everyone wanted her to fetch stuff for them. (Like do her job?!?) I am still waiting for my beverage (I had to pay 17.00 for the privilege of dining with my mother) This was sad as many residents gathered up to an hour early to wait my dining doors to open. The van, a plus for me I thought, to take mother to the doctor, was never available. Even with 3 week notice. No doctor trips, no grocery store. Just used for outings that you had to sign up for. Limited capacity. Her medication was crazy. They promptly took it all away, reordered generic (she had not used the brand new 3 month supply yet) and of course billed us. I was confused. I asked. Still confused. So many meds were ordered and reordered. Why?!? The pool, nope. Cannot use. No life guard. They were refurbishing the pool for access, never saw that happen...yet they failed to mention this on the tour. The bright spots at the Bridges were the maintenance guy. He fixed and repaired and was so nice about it. The lovely woman who did the laundry. What a blessing she is. Kind and sweet. So I took my mother out of there. She was losing weight, was unhappy, was unclean, I was having to clean her room and still taking her places. I was still missing work. I was assisting the assisted living facility. Care: she was inside and safe. Best I can say.

I have to say I only came here because I was in a craft fair here…read more I must say from what I saw it was a beautiful place. The staff I dealt with were all very kind and friendly. The best part was meeting some of the residents. I so enjoyed talking with and spending time with those that came over to the fair. With my limited experience here, I would definitely recommend checking out this place if you or a loved one is n need of an assisted living facility.

Hospice patients are put in the oldest building on the campus directly next and under the helicopter flight path and landing area. Next to ambulance parking and loading docks. Noise non stop. Our "finest" room had one sofa to sleep on. I had to fight w charge nurse to move chairs to create a place to sleep next to my husband. No cleaning in room for six days. Inadequate saftey in bathroom and a communal shower! Total bio hazard! Save that one nurse the staff was wonderful, doctor caring but when I raised hell about the facility I was told improvements would be made but they would not be moving patients to any of their new construction or newly acquired buildings. They simply DO NOT CARE about dying patients. Its been a month since I requested from the hospice manager to be contacted by his direct boss. Nothing. My husband's remark when transfered " I worked hard all my life to die in a dump" My family is forever scarred by this place.

The description of services and the initial at home set up was nothing like we were told. When calling to notify we were home & we were told we'd get a tuck in visit, no one ever came. When calling the woman fumbled the phone & said she'd let someone know. The communication has been nonexistent. No call, no help getting us prepared at home. My Mother is pretty much bed bound & her husband needs guidance. Her meds were supposed to be in a "bubble wrap" set, easily labeled & prefilled syringes...this is not what we received. The at home hospital bed with special mattress looks ancient & doesn't have leg rails...not ideal. If this doesn't change I will be seeking a new provider very soon.
