If it wasn't for their sharp intuition and ability to build a sick dance floor the venue would have ruined the wedding!!! These DJs built a fun and pumping dance floor and never relented!!! They had the floor going without fail until the end of the wedding!!! Every song they played was a home run. They didn't just follow a playlist like an ipod...they read their dance floor...knew what they wanted and gave it to them!! They did such a beautiful job and communication with them was great. We chose to have a DJ (Matt) and MC (James - voice smooth like butter!) with a drummer (Justin) and a sax player (Dave). These guys were a dream team. My guests still cannot stop raving about them! They all said they wanted to stay on the dance floor and felt like they could've done so for so much longer, and were so disappointed when it ended! The entire room was up dancing - young to old, there was something for everybody. James pumped up the crowd amazingly, Matt felt the crowd and played the best songs, Justin on the drums was throwing drumsticks and doing crazy things with the drums - people still talk about it, and Dave on the sax was also amazing. I would not hesitate to use them - they were referred to me by sister, who used them for bar/bat mitzvahs for her kids as well and loved them. Allison was very patient and always got back to us with answers to lots of questions that we had and was very accommodating, and was able to get us additional things such as lighting, which was done seamlessly. There was a small flub with the dj/mc but they were wonderful and helpful and it was all good, and they kept the party going all night! I would hire them again if there is ever a reason for me too. If you are just booking a DJ and and MC they are great and you can stop reading the review here! If you are booking live solo musicians though there is more. I am lowering the review not because of the DJ/MC, but because of the live solo musican we had booked as well. We booked violin and piano, and were told the musician can play anything reasonable that will have sheet music. My husband picked a classical piece, not an overly crazy one, it's one that most students can play, so for a professional it should be a non issue. But I heard from multiple guests (many of whom are also musicans...) that it sounded off and even I could tell it wasn't right as I walked down the aisle. We were told only a short time before the wedding that the violinist was having to practice the piece a lot, but not that they couldn't reliably play it at all, and if we knew earlier it couldn't be played, we would have gladly hired any QC student or a peer to do it instead (and for less money). The violinist was also the piano player, and for piano we had requested jazz music, which was pretty important to my musician husband. To our surprise when we walked into the cocktail hour we hear "beauty and the beast" on piano. Totally not our vibe at all, not what we asked for, and no one gave us any warning that it would be changed. Again, if we knew sooner that the pianist either wouldn't or couldn't do jazz, we would have found someone else, or we would have changed to a different genre, but definitely not sappy poppy love songs.... Just such a bummer. The piano killed the vibe for me completely and he and I were both so looking forward to it. Overall the player was nice and whatever, and I guess if you just want some basic piano covers it's fine, but we expected more of a professional service, like a heads up that the music was changed even. All in all I still definitely recommend the DJ and MC and the owner(?) is a pleasure to work with, but just letting people know if they have any sort of specific live music wishes aside from the most generic, to go elsewhere for that one aspect. The cocktail hour music not being at all what we discussed was a definite stain on the otherwise perfect night for us.

Embarrassing, and disappointing as can be on your wedding day. As a woman you wait your whole life for your first dance and it was ruined. Called me by the wrong name all night MC failed to entertain guests, didn't get guests up and moving. Had "after the tone" phone in hallway, failed to promote it throughout night. Led to us not having everyone's audio footage due to them not knowing. Provided song list for DJ of songs to play/not play. Didn't follow. Lost the paper, MOH had to scramble to find it behind the DJ booth. Just really disappointing and looking back on it.. I should have complained a lot more. It kinda feels as if we weren't officially married/didn't have a good wedding.

I had DJ Dominick, MC PJ, and Xander for Photobooth. Dominick's music was INCREDIBLE... he played every single song I asked for, timed all the music perfectly, and kept the party going all night... it was truly banger after banger. The crowd loved it and so did I. PJ was also an absolutely fantastic MC. He was so fun and really did a great job engaging the crowd to keep everyone partying all night! He did great job communicating with me about the schedule for the night too! Overall a 10/10 experience working with Tommy's Tunes. They are that good, and their price was totally reasonable. From the beginning, I knew we were in great hands. They provided us with DJ / MC / Sound / Lights / Video in one simple package, they even created a beautiful 250 pic video photo montage for us that was beautiful. They communicated with our other vendors through out the night and followed the planned script perfectly and played all music as previously selected as well as all the typical dance standards. The questionnaire used for planning was all online as well as their catalog of services provided. Ivan was super accommodating and played all the songs we requested. He was on point with the wedding day itinerary and helpful with suggestions. We had some guests who also DJ and they came up to me raving about how his song mixes/wordplay was spot on. The photo booth was a hit - highly recommend and you receive a link to all photos/gifs taken. We also added on the saxophonist and 8 ft robot. Rob was also fantastic and I'm so glad DUDJ's provided him as the MC. High energy, big smiles, and these two were able to read to crowd and perform accordingly. Their DJ light setup was soooo much better than other DJ's I vetted (not to mention the others were upselling this and Drive Up provides this as a standard). I would have zero hesitation booking this team again and will be recommending them to all friends/family for future events.

About three years ago, we attended the best-wedding-ever! It was the best-wedding-ever for a number…read moreof reasons; one of them being Vinny, the man behind High Voltage. So when we started planning our wedding, there was no doubt we would hire Vinny as our DJ (I would have changed the day of the wedding if he hadn't been available on our date). Why is he the best DJ, you ask? Vinny is a great guy (and not bad on the eyes too!). He is professional, but not in a stuffy way and is actually super friendly, it feels like he could be part of the family (he actually stuck around at the end of the evening, after everyone left, wasn't in a rush to leave, he seemed to enjoy our company and want to chat with us for a while). His prices are very reasonable. He doesn't require an arm and a leg as a deposit to book the date, and the balance is due the day of the wedding. He will give his brutally honest opinion when asked, based on what he has seen work and not work at other weddings. He knows his music. Give him do and don't play lists, and he'll fill in the blanks accordingly. He will not give the microphone to anyone who isn't pre-approved by the bride and groom (which saved us from what would have been a drunken karaoke moment by two childhood girlfriends, ha!). He is easy-going and flexible with last minute changes. And he is just fun! He isn't cheesy or obnoxious (I have seen that type of wedding DJ). He doesn't do too much talking (although he probably would do more talking if the bride and/or groom wants to give away the centerpiece, or throw the bouquet, etc..., which we did not do). He knows what makes people get out of their chairs. He listens to what we wanted, and checked in on us during the evening to make sure we were happy with everything. The weather was very hot that day, and when Vinny realized that the groom needed a little time to cool down (and dry down!), he made some adjustments to the usual "schedule", communicated with the right venue people, and no one noticed the delay! He was definitely a big help in making the whole evening run smoothly. He has connections with and can book musicians for cocktail hour or as an addition to the reception (drummer, guitarist, etc...). We booked a steal drummer (Howie Bongo!) through him for cocktail hour on the back deck. Howie was fantastic, and I'm sure Vinny's other recommended musicians would be just as good. Vinny received the Best of LI prize in 2009. I would definitely vote for him to get it again this year, he did such a fantastic job with our wedding. He definitely exceeded our expectations! I will be recommending him for years!

We wanted more of a "talking" wedding rather than a "dancing" wedding and after our first dances and about 20-25 minutes of fun dancing (swing dance and Sinatra) our wedding turned back into a cocktail hour, which is exactly what we hoped for. I'm sure DJ Pete can also throw down a really awesome and fun party, but we really appreciated that he did exactly what we asked. We had a multicultural and multigenerational wedding and the dance floor was full from the time it opened until the last song. Dinner wasn't even served yet and he had the place rocking.
