I agree with the other reviewers, this is a classy and beautiful store. It is also such a force for good in the community since GV has been empowering women and the LGBT community for years. I tell everyone I can about this new location, not just because of their important mission, but also the wonderful job they did creating a clean and welcoming space. Also, the employees are extremely helpful and make sure you get exactly what you need without any sales pressure. I have been to this location twice and was treated very well and even given some interesting and valuable information. Coming here is a learning experience since the staff is so knowledgeable. Went in this morning when I figured it wouldn't be very busy. The sales associate there, I didn't catch her name, was very helpful in helping me pick out the things I was interested in and didn't make the situation feel awkward like I thought it would. i heard some talk about a GV opening on lakeshore a while back and was glad to see that they were able to open up shop last month. this location is more spacious than the one in berkeley. all associates offered their help without any pressure. parking can still be iffy since its located around metered parking, good thing its open kind of late! dont forget the stamp card - you get a stamp for every $10 you spend and $10 off when you collect 10 stamps. stuff adds up! read more

First off, this is the second adult store I've ever been to. The store is tucked into a very open spot and not in an alleyway or somewhere that looks like you should be ashamed of walking out of. It's like walking into a high end boutique with a great amount of products. The sale items are even really awesome! The selling point to this store though is how friendly the store representatives are. I was buying lingerie. They helped pick some things out, look for a different size and everything! We called Good Vibrations within the last 15 minutes of their opening hours on a Sunday night (for info on their products), and the despite the timing the sales person was really helpful and sweet. Went in the following morning to purchase aforementioned products and the salesperson (not sure if same or different person) was great. Products purchased were reasonably priced, shop was well laid out and very friendly (not shady/spooky like some other adult stores in Oakland). I have always been a fan of this business as I feel it performs a vital service, of sorts. I have most of the time gone to the store on San Pablo, Berkeley. I am aware that the origins of the establishment were initially for the female market. I have gone to this store at least three times since they opened this location. I have consistently seen the service deteriorate and the prices increase. I am an older guy reentering the social scene after several years. I thought I'd stock up on condoms, lube and other 'toys' for foreplay. While most stores don't mind having people looking around in their stores, I felt particularly unwelcome this visit. Not so other times. An older woman with short dark hair who I recognized from their flagship store was particularly unfriendly to me. I don't know if it was ageism or directed at my gender. I will never shop at this location again and maybe never Good Vibrations again after my experience this afternoon I walked in to address an issue I had with a very expensive product I purchased 3 weeks ago. The women who I learned is the manager was immediately so completely rude and continued to be rude with a bad attitude through our entire conversation. We here how all these small businesses and store are hurting, but what is the point of purchasing items in store if they are going to be rude and unhelpful in their stores. Visited here on a whim with my sister (for her birthday). It's a very classy joint and located in the busy downtown area of Lakeshore in Oakland (btw - my hometown and area I spent many hours since my mom has a beauty shop on lakeshore from 1964 to 1983). It's crazy how the area has changed in the last 20+ years and become such the place to be. This store is organized well and very open and spacious. Everything you can want in the way of sex toys etc is available but all displayed aesthetically and not trashy at all. The ladies that helped us were very helpful and informative. Any and all questions were answered without hesitation or making us feel embarrassed. I would definitely go back if I found myself in need of anything they have in stock. This place is great because it has such a calm vibe (no pun intended). Down to earth but not in your face. Not a creepy porn shop but more of a boutique. Valentine's Day is always a holiday Me and my husband never really got into because I'm a busy mom with 3 kids but i wanted to do something different this year. I'm so happy that I came to this location, the associate sofi greeted me with a warm smile and walked me through some really great options to spice things up for the special day, she even helped me pick out lingerie. She was incredibly knowledgeable and I didn't feel overwhelmed with anything even though I was nervous about being in a sex store. The staff at this good vibes followed me around the store during my short visit recently. They repeatedly asked if I needed help even though I kept saying "no" and there were multiple people in the store to attend to. Finally, a staff member asked if I wanted her to hold my things at the register. I had a candle and two small lube packets. There really wasn't much to hold, but I was tired of them bothering me. I first came here in 2012 when visiting California for the first time. I've been here quite a few times since moving here in 2014 and I have not been disappointed in the slightest. The staff is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The only complaint I have is I wish there was a bigger in store selection. There's quite a bit as there is, but I know I wish there was a little more in the way of bondage selection. There's a toy for every budget level. Went in with a friend to buy restraints and other toys for her and her new boyfriend. My first reaction upon entering was wow! Its so bright and colorful in here. I've visited GV on San Pablo, where I really appreciate the friendliness and great customer service. Too bad I can say the same about Lakeshore, at least the one employee that rang me up. She failed to acknowledge me (ignored me) as I stood at the register, even after I circled the area and made noise I had to ask her to ring me up. She made it obvious to me that she wasn't happy doing that. After ringing me up and hardly making eye contact she had the nerve to say "I hope you have a better day," as if I was the one with a stick stuck up my ***. Hell ya I was gonna have a "better day," you just saw what I bought, is what I wanted to say. Customer service is KEY! When I visit shops of this nature it's not just a product I'm buying, but also a feeling. The feeling of wanting to come back and spend more money there. I'll need to make trips out to San Pablo GV and drop my bills there, cause Miss Attitude at Lakeshore was far from just having a bad day. Don't take your frustration out on customers, they're the reason you have a paying job. And hey, not everyone is made for retail. Went to the Lakeshore location twice in the last few weeks, and was very underwhelmed with the customer service both times. While the two employees were loudly discussing what they'd be having for lunch later, they could have asked if we needed any help. While browsing the vibrator section, I found that many of the demo vibrators hadn't been charged, so it was not possible to get a good sense of the product. When I asked to see something in a display case, the sales person forgot the key when she came over, had to go back and get it. Just seemed like the staff didn't care all that much, were pretty much phoning it in. I'm new to the Bay Area from NY, and am used to shopping at Babeland, which has a better selection and enthusiastic staff that are both knowledgeable and helpful. Cashier, unfortunately I forgot her name (I'm not good with names), greeted me and other guests as soon as they walked in the door. She was very helpful. She allowed me to sample a few lubes and was able to tell me the pros and cons, and which ones were the best for their price. I ended up getting Please, it's a silicone lubricant and it felt the smoothest to me. A small amount seemed to go a long way, so I say it was money well spent. Also the batteries that they sell behind the counter are cheaper than the packs of batteries that are displayed next to the vibrators that are closest to the enterance.
