First off, this is the second adult store I've ever been to. The store is tucked into a very open spot and not in an alleyway or somewhere that looks like you should be ashamed of walking out of. I will never shop at this location again and maybe never Good Vibrations again after my experience this afternoon I walked in to address an issue I had with a very expensive product I purchased 3 weeks ago. The women who I learned is the manager was immediately so completely rude and continued to be rude with a bad attitude through our entire conversation. We here how all these small businesses and store are hurting, but what is the point of purchasing items in store if they are going to be rude and unhelpful in their stores. Visited here on a whim with my sister (for her birthday). It's a very classy joint and located in the busy downtown area of Lakeshore in Oakland (btw - my hometown and area I spent many hours since my mom has a beauty shop on lakeshore from 1964 to 1983). It's crazy how the area has changed in the last 20+ years and become such the place to be. This store is organized well and very open and spacious. The staff at this good vibes followed me around the store during my short visit recently. They repeatedly asked if I needed help even though I kept saying "no" and there were multiple people in the store to attend to. I first came here in 2012 when visiting California for the first time. I've been here quite a few times since moving here in 2014 and I have not been disappointed in the slightest. The staff is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The only complaint I have is I wish there was a bigger in store selection. I've visited GV on San Pablo, where I really appreciate the friendliness and great customer service. Too bad I can say the same about Lakeshore, at least the one employee that rang me up. She failed to acknowledge me (ignored me) as I stood at the register, even after I circled the area and made noise I had to ask her to ring me up. She made it obvious to me that she wasn't happy doing that. After ringing me up and hardly making eye contact she had the nerve to say "I hope you have a better day," as if I was the one with a stick stuck up my ***. When I visit shops of this nature it's not just a product I'm buying, but also a feeling. The feeling of wanting to come back and spend more money there. Went to the Lakeshore location twice in the last few weeks, and was very underwhelmed with the customer service both times. While the two employees were loudly discussing what they'd be having for lunch later, they could have asked if we needed any help. While browsing the vibrator section, I found that many of the demo vibrators hadn't been charged, so it was not possible to get a good sense of the product. When I asked to see something in a display case, the sales person forgot the key when she came over, had to go back and get it. Just seemed like the staff didn't care all that much, were pretty much phoning it in. I'm new to the Bay Area from NY, and am used to shopping at Babeland, which has a better selection and enthusiastic staff that are both knowledgeable and helpful. She allowed me to sample a few lubes and was able to tell me the pros and cons, and which ones were the best for their price. I ended up getting Please, it's a silicone lubricant and it felt the smoothest to me. A small amount seemed to go a long way, so I say it was money well spent.
