Our oldest, Peyton, has a history of just okay grooming visits. These experiences made grooming something of angst for our P girl. Since we started going to Poochies, Peyton's grooming demeanor has completely done a 360. Peyton genuinely enjoys her visits to Poochies and thrives in the safe space that the staff fosters there. We appreciate everyone, especially Savannah, for caring for our Peyton as if she were their own. Our youngest, Maggie, had her grooming/nail clipping debut here at Poochies and - wow - what an exceptional experience. Everyone was patient, kind, attentive, and so helpful in getting our Maggs comfortable with the grooming process. I would recommend Poochies to anyone in the North Shore! He ended up loving it and now every time I take him he gets so happy. Compared to other places, their prices are affordable and the staff is truly caring. Aside from a grooming salon, they have items such as leashes, bags, snacks/treats, ointments, dog clothes and more. Very fun and welcoming environment. The plaza where the shop is located has a free parking lot. The dogs are able to use the bathroom by the trash bins in the end.

Cost was $210 and when I picked her up there were bleeding grooming nicks on her neck, two on her legs, the top of her foot. Which all could be accidents or resulting from running over skin tags,( although we discussed this prior to the groom and was told they were charging for the extra care they had to take for the skin tags) BUT her nails were bleeding like they had cut into the nail beds. That's just cruel to cut into the nail beds. She still can not stand without her back legs shaking 3 days later, so not sure how much the extra person was supporting her. Probably fine for a younger dog, but this was not good for my dog. I can either believe the owner or my own eyes.

My experience at this establishment was highly disappointing even though I did receive a full…read morerefund, which was greatly appreciated and I felt was deserved. I entrusted my dog's grooming to an employee named Henry, whom I believe misled me regarding his capabilities. When giving specific instructions, Henry admitted he wasn't a professional groomer, but assured me he could handle the job even though I offered to pay a cancellation fee. He said he didn't want his time wasted and was very persistent that my dog get groomed. He said he would prep my dog for the certified groomer who would be doing the trim at the end. Upon picking up my dog, I was shocked and upset to find that she had received a full haircut instead of the requested trim, which was completely unsuitable for her breed (a woolly husky). The cut penetrated her undercoat which allows her to regulate temperature in the summer. Henry, rather than taking responsibility, argued that I had requested a haircut which was "appropriate for a husky", which is untrue. Fortunately, the groomer, Karyn, who understood the situation apologized sincerely. Upon closer inspection at home, I discovered that my dog still had matting, had a very uneven haircut, was unexpectedly covered in oil (which was not the case when I dropped her off), and her feet were still dirty,--issues Henry had claimed he would address but did not. Following my initial concerns, I had a phone call with the owner of the Dirty Doodle, which further highlighted their unprofessionalism and unwillingness to accept responsibility for the poor service. In conclusion, I cannot recommend this establishment, particularly for owners of long-haired dogs. It appears they may be better suited for grooming short-haired breeds. I had to get my dog groomed elsewhere same day.
