I was leaving on a two week vacation and, very last minute, the person who was watching my one-year-old puppy (Lexapro, Lexi for short) bailed on me. I was absolutely frantic trying to find a daycare for her. I sent a message to mcgrupps, and got an almost immediate response from the owner, Megan. She walked me through the steps of what I would need to do in order to board my pup and got me in very quickly to do an assessment. My dog is very anxious and Megan and the staff knew exactly how to handle her. They answered all of my questions and helped me feel at ease about leaving my dog for the first time. While I was away, the wonderful staff posted pictures of my dog every day on Instagram so that I could see what she was up to, which made me feel so much more at ease. I even called for an update a couple of times (crazy dog mom, i know) and the staff were so kind and took her time to talk to me about my girl. When I came to pick her up, she was bathed and ready to go. Being at the daycare, I can see that Lexi has opened up and made tons of friends. She didn't even need her anxiety medication because of how well she was taken care of. Our one year old dog Oliver was a customer at McGrupps long before his Addison's disease diagnosis (this needs to be mentioned because he was very anxious and fearful & I was so impressed by the staffs dedication and compassion for him)! Since diagnosis Oliver has been doing much better and we are so excited for him to be healthy enough to return to McGrupps. Angela remembered Oliver and his entire situation which as a dog mom was so incredibly comforting!!!!! My pup, Taser LOVES this place. The girls there really love him and make him feel at home. A couple of days ago, I suddenly lost my home and most of its contents to an incident. The next day, I dropped Taser off at daycare so that I could get things situated with insurance, etc. When I picked him up last night at closing time, the girls surprised me with a bed, blanket, double door crate, large bag of dog food, and two bags of treats from the owners! Disclaimer: I rarely write reviews but felt I had to in this case. I was very disappointed by management at McGrupps on how they handled a situation. My wife and I moved to our new Home and needed a new daycare for our dog from time to time. Our small dog was pre-screened by employees and attended from time to time when I was on business trips. While attending, we were told that he would hump other dogs. Our dog did not do this at his old daycare, dog park, or when friends dogs were at our house but I understand the concern they had. My issue was that they never explained the behavior report (any escalation process) that my wife asked about and had to sign and were told "they were just for informational purposes". Then this past week when my wife went to drop him off was told he was not allowed to attend the daycare anymore. This was an issue as I was away, my wife driving to work and we had booked his daycare appointment weeks ago. As a result, McGrupps allowed him to stay that day but then was banned from daycare going forward. As a result my wife had our dog attend his old daycare (50 min in opposite direction of work) the rest of the week where no issues were reported and staff at other daycare said he had a great days. Long story short, I am not disputing my dogs reported behavior but rather the unprofessional way McGrupps handled the situation. Our dogs "ban" was never communicated to us and resulted in many inconveniences. A simple explanation of the escalation of behavior reports and also contacting us in advance (as we had an appointment) would have been nice so my wife did not find out in person and have to scramble for the rest of the week. I hope McGrupps can learn from this as they obviously have good reviews and have been named "best of ..." multiple times. read more

Such amazing accommodations, that I'd spend my day there if i didn't have to work! McGrupp's is very responsible with their fury friends, making sure size and temperaments are matched for each play area. There are restful lounges with Animal Planet playing in the background, active play areas, outdoor play areas, on site grooming, exceptional safety protocols, and amazing treats, supplements and skin/coat care products specially for mutated by the owners through years of experience and research! McGrupp's is clean, welcoming and all staff is high professional, well trained at their jobs as well as in pet care, and incredible friendly. During the Covid-19 pandemic the owners stepped up to help emergency responders have care and peace of mind for their pets. The cleaning, drop off, and pick up protocols were immediately adapted to be as safe as possible. Additionally they worked tirelessly to donate PPEs as frequently as possible. I have been waiting for Mcgrupps to come onto Yelp so I can review them!!! Omg what a space. Our dog Apollo, loves coming here. He attends daycare once or twice a week, depending entirely on my schedule (he would go everyday if I let him). As someone who has been sending her pup to daycare since he was 4 months old, I am very biased on where he goes and who I allow to care for my baby. The moment I met Shannon, Scott and their team, I knew this was the place for him. They have a huge outdoor play area, a temperature controlled indoor area (for those extra gross, can't go outside days) and then additional rooms for the dogs to play. They typically play with small dogs in one room and big dogs in the other and although Apollo is 40 pounds, he would much prefer to chill with his 100+ pound friends!! (This space used to be for a child's daycare, so the sectioned areas are huge and beautifully decorated). I know he's safe, always. They're wonderful about alerting me if anything has happened or bringing something to my attention. During the summer, they offer frozen PB play dates where you spent pennies extra in order to have a frozen peanut butter kong given to your pup during "social hour". You can't make up something THAT adorable. They also offer grooming (and thank God, I'm so sick of wearing my bathing suit to wash him in the bathtub while he cowers in fear and gets my entire house wet!!). Chelsee is a godsend and she makes him look all clean and sparkly, as well as trims his nails in order for us to not hear the lovely clicking down our hallways. He always leaves relaxed, tired and full of love after a full day of daycare. He loves Ms. Shannon, Brittany, Jeff and Chelsee so much and wants to spread the love with all his puppy friends. So be sure to check them out (oh and the price is right on average target - $25/day and daycare packages as well, same as many places Apollo used to go when we lived on Cape). Can't say enough about this place! My pup can be nervous around other dogs and has not felt comfortable at some local daycares, but she LOVES McGrupp's! There is a huge outdoor play area which most places don't have, and the indoor space is comfy and cozy with couches so the pups feel at home. There are few things I take as seriously as the welfare of my 1 1/2 year old pup, Lucky. Of course my first dog had to be a problem child, but through two surgeries and a near six month recovery period, McGrupps has been my saving grace! She plays all day, and I know I can count on the crew to tell me at the end of the day whether she's been looking a bit sore (those are the days I see pictures of her lounging on the sofas like a potato!), or been a little fresh pup who's apparently feeling at 100%! It's such a relief knowing that on the 2/3 days a week Lucky attends, she's happy and safe, and that she'll be as exhausted as I am at the end of the day. And on top of everything else, on those weeks she's played a little extra hard or I've taken her swimming and she's toeing the line of being a smelly pup, I can have her groomed sometime during the day! When she gets bathed she always comes out smelling great, and when they grind/trim her nails, they're always rounded and smooth! Not to mention, before I'd discovered McGrupps I would take her to Petsmart to be groomed, and even now, almost a year after her last visit, she refuses to walk into the glass door to their grooming room - at McGrupps, she ditches me and clamors to get out of my car in the morning! (I've also had the privilege of seeing her in the grooming room one evening where was was calmly sleeping - did I mention she's lazy? - in front of the dryer, where as at home the sight of a broom makes her go running!) It's safe to say Lucky will be headed to McGrupps until she's old and curmudgeonly and stops playing well with others. And if I ever did have to board her in an emergency, there's no place or people I'd trust more than McGrupps (Shannon, Brittany & Chelsee are the main three I normally see!) to take care of her. read more

Unfortunately, while my 6-month puppy was in the care of McGrupp's he was attacked by another dog and suffered a deep wound. Before I move on with this review, I would like to state that I fully understand that this type of situation can happen in any doggy day care setting (dogs will be dogs) and the attack itself does not impact this review. However, the way the staff at McGrupp's handled this incident was concerning and, in my opinion, unacceptable. After the attack, my dog was separated and placed in a room all by himself. I can only imagine how scared and alone he must have felt. Also, the staff at McGrupp's did not contact me to inform me of the incident or his injury. Instead, I was informed at the end of the day when I went to pick him up. I am sure any dog parent would agree that I should have been contacted immediately. Upon first sight I knew something was wrong because he looked frightened, and the staff neglected to put on his safety harness. McGrupp's brings all dogs outside in the parking lot (right off a main road) upon pick up. Because they did not put his safety harness on my puppy wiggled out of his collar and ran loose around the parking lot as he was anxious from the events of the day. Luckily, a fellow dog owner was able to catch him before he ran into the road. Once I got a hold of him again and secured him myself in his harness I was informed of the attack by the manager and presented with the "occurrence report" documenting the incident in detail. I inspected my puppy and saw a very large gash that in my opinion (as a medical professional) required stitches. I expressed my concern and asked the McGrupp's staff why I was not notified earlier? I was told that they did not think it was a "big deal" and that they did not want to contact me as they thought I would worry. Instead, they thought it would be best to tell me at 5:30pm on Friday upon pick up (his veterinarian's office closes at 5:00pm and does not reopen until 9:00 on Monday) leaving me with very few options for his medical care (we were forced to take him to an expensive 24-hour emergency clinic to receive his stiches). I should have been contacted right away so I could evaluate the situation and attend to his wounds properly to ensure he received the best outcome. To me the way McGrupp's handled this incident to me is not only unacceptable, but also unethical. This incident could have happened anywhere, but it should have been handled better. I should have been notified immediately and they should have done more to attend to my puppy until I arrived. I trusted McGrupp's with the care of my beloved dog and they betrayed/broke that trust. I can confirm they have lost my business. read more

I feel bad that it took me so long to get around to writing this review. We have been thrilled with how good they have been to our dog. Due to our schedules we are only able to take him here once each week. If it were up to him he would be at McGrupp's every day. If anyone in the house even says McGrupp's he starts running around and barking in excitement. He can't get in the car fast enough. We also recently had our dog groomed at McGrupp's and they did a great job. My family thought he looked like a puppy again. I highly recommend McGrupp's to anyone who loves their dog. read more

My dogs are my babies and Shannon is the only person that I trust with them. I bring them in for daycare during the day and board them when I need to go away to NYC or FL. Shannon, Brittany and the crew are enthusiastic and knowledgeable about dogs and you can tell at the end of the day when they report back to you about something they've noticed that they truly care and watch out for your "baby" They have an excellent set up where they can separate the bigs from the littles and the crazies from the cools. And the options for sleep overs and boarding make it a great place to leave our guy at a place he is already used to when we go away. They keep things fun and update their F-book page often so you can get a glimpse of what your pup is up to. Does NOT pay employees on time instead buys and Audi and a nice ring to wear. The girls working upfront make only 1 dollar more than the other girls which is $12.00 CRAP!! Scott and Shannon run a horrible business and I would never even recommend my worst enemy to go there. within an hour of my puppy's first day there, he got bit by another dog. I was called to pick him up and get him medical attention. The owner made it clear that she does not cover vet bills and I was not able to retrieve the other owners information. I found out that the biting dog was still at the daycare and the owners were not notified and I found it extremely unfair when my dog ended up with 7 stitches and I was stuck with the $700 vet bill. A few weeks later I received a phone call from the owner and we got to really discuss both sides and came to a financial agreement. While I do not agree with the policies that were in place, I do commend the owner for reaching out to me after everything was said and done and willing to put a close to this unfortunate situation. read more

Shannon and her team are really phenomenal with the dogs. My two dogs, Marty and Zoey are as different as could be but they both love it here. Marty is elderly with terrible anxiety and Zoey is a happy go lucky puppy. During the non-winter months they have a spacious, shaded outdoor area. In the winter, they are indoors but have different play spaces where they can separate dogs as needed. They are very kind and really get to know each dog and try to accommodate their special needs. We do doggie daycare twice a week which seems to be enough to keep them socialized and tired. I have also left them overnight and they have a variety of sleeping options. They also get their grooming done there and the prices are competitive. All in all a great facility and staff. Highly recommend. read more

I can't say enough about the owners and staff at McGrupp's Doggy Daycare. I started taking my dog about a year ago. From the first day I went to check it out, Shannon and Scott made me feel completely comfortable. They showed me around the entire complex and were extremely friendly. They have several rooms indoors to separate different size dogs and a large outdoor area where dogs can run, relax in the shade or play in a pool of water if it's hot out. I have always felt comfortable leaving my dog for the day or overnight. I know they care about my dog and they are excellent at what they do. I would rate it 10 stars if I could. read more

McGrupps Doggie Daycare is by far the absolute best care I could ever imagine for my dog. The facility is immaculate and gorgeous!! Any dog would be lucky to stay here. My Samoyed Bruin plays on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. When I pick him up, he's happy and exhausted. He's also stayed overnight in a gorgeous suite!!!! Where do I even begin? I truly cannot say enough good things about McGrupp's. Some may say I have an unhealthy attachment to my dog, Millie, and am super over protective of her.... and they would be correct! Knowing that she is with Shan, Britt, and the rest of the staff makes me feel so comfortable and stress free. I never have to worry about her during the day because I know that they treat her as if she were their own. When we arrive at "school" (as we playfully call it) Millie can barely contain her excitement, she whines and cries and runs as fast as she can to the door. Not only is the facility gorgeous and spotless but the setup is so fun and welcoming for the dogs that they feel right at home. There are beds and couches and a wonderfully spacious outdoor area with a pool!! Every holiday Millie comes home with a special card or treat, even on random days too. They just care so much about all the dogs and it truly shows with their actions and gestures. Millie is very attached to me (since I work remotely from home) so she gets anxious without us. Shan and the staff work so hard on finding Millie's comfort zone and the type of play she is comfortable with. It means the world that they continue to watch her closely and make sure she is happy and enjoying herself....and i am pleased to say that she isn't nervous there. Millie was recently groomed and let me tell you, I can't stop smelling her!! She looked amazing and smelled even better! She typically doesn't like anyone touching her feet, so cutting her nails tends to be very difficult. We normally pick her up at the groomer to find that they cut one or two nails on each foot... but not at McGrupp's, every nail was perfectly trimmed and every hair in place!! She will never be groomed anywhere else, that's for sure! I am so grateful for McGrupp's... and thankful that we live so close (Although I would drive an hour to bring Millie here!!) I have recently started bringing my new puppy here for socializing with other dogs. I called around and they were the only doggy daycare in the area that would take young puppies. This is so important because puppies need a lot of socializing before 12 weeks old. The other day cares wouldn't accept puppies until 12 or 16 weeks. I find the staff very friendly and knowledgeable about dogs. They take the time to do some training with them. The hours are fantastic because I have to work early and they open at 6:30am. They have many areas for the dogs with couches and TV's. I am so happy to have found s place for Max while I'm working. read more
