In addition to their signature housemade carmelcorn, the shop also specializes in popcorn, fresh roasted nuts, fudge, chocolates, gummies and old-fashioned hard candies. Richard Baskin purchased the shop from the Dohertys in 1985. He in turn sold the shop to husband and wife Tony and Sia Bassil in 1996 and they have owned it ever since. Sia had originally been hired to work behind the counter for the Dohertys in 1977, when she was just 14. She continued to work at the shop, on and off, for several years until she bought it with her husband. My family and I visited The Carmelcorn Shop this past summer while we were visiting relatives in the area. We were exploring Downtown Easton and noticed the storefront. It looked like a really cool place and we were shocked when we saw the sign that read "Since 1931". The shop is pretty small, but it has all sorts of novelty candies. The carmelcorn smelled great! We ended up getting some as well as some old-fashioned candies for our two boys. It's nice to know that there are still old-fashioned candy shops like this still in existence. If you're visiting Downtown Easton, then we recommend that you take a stop at the Carmelcorn Shop for a trip down memory lane.

She was there until the late 50's, had her five kids, and returned through the 70's and 80's. I always remember my Mom smelling like roasted nuts and carmelcorn when she came home from work. I always make sure I stop in when I return to Easton to reminisce with Sia and of course pick up some Almond Butter Crunch.

The market itself was still open and some places were still open but many were closed. It seems the trend is not to post your hours per stand- so less accessible. That healthy activity ended up being over a 50 mile drive one way. I was going back to this area Sunday. So I was finally able to buy what I wanted. The stand is part of a well established market in the posher section of downtown Easton. It was my friend's first time in this market and apparently this section had gentrified recently. The vegan chicken salad, vegan bologna. And vegan pepperoni are all top notch. All from Butterhead. They also sell the last two at VegOut but I am not sure about the first. The vegan bologna did not taste like bologna to me at all, but what it did taste like was some new kind of "meat" I had never had before. Butterhead food products and events are very accessible and I am so happy that Highmark Farmstand carries them. At least update hours on your IG Highmark if you aren't able to get the help you need or just generally speaking it's good to post hours or even post that you "open when you want to" if that is the case. Highmark as a name sounds prominent except that I also think of BCBS insurance when I hear that name lol. Parking is street parking and all pay- that is no fault of the market.

G&E is so convenient. Right in downtown, with nearly as much selection as any big grocery. How they fit so much in that space is amazing! It's clean and well-organized. Recently there was a snowstorm. Everything else was closed. Nobody delivering. Guess who was still there? G&E for a cup of hot coffee, some snacks, and some deli. A friendly store you can count on for all your basic groceries, right in downtown? i call that a win.
