The Carmelcorn Shop is an old-fashioned confectionery shop that opened in Easton, Pennsylvania in 1931. It was founded by husband and wife John & Ruth Doherty. In addition to their signature housemade carmelcorn, the shop also specializes in popcorn, fresh roasted nuts, fudge, chocolates, gummies and old-fashioned hard candies. Richard Baskin purchased the shop from the Dohertys in 1985. He in turn sold the shop to husband and wife Tony and Sia Bassil in 1996 and they have owned it ever since. Sia had originally been hired to work behind the counter for the Dohertys in 1977, when she was just 14. She continued to work at the shop, on and off, for several years until she bought it with her husband. My family and I visited The Carmelcorn Shop this past summer while we were visiting relatives in the area. We were exploring Downtown Easton and noticed the storefront. It looked like a really cool place and we were shocked when we saw the sign that read "Since 1931". The shop is pretty small, but it has all sorts of novelty candies. The carmelcorn smelled great! We ended up getting some as well as some old-fashioned candies for our two boys. It's nice to know that there are still old-fashioned candy shops like this still in existence. I came in simply to browse the candy section -- the display caught my eye, and I wanted to look before deciding what to buy. Instead of being treated like any other customer, I felt singled out and watched in a way that made clear I was being racially profiled. What should have been a normal, pleasant shopping moment instead felt like harassment. I want to be clear: I wasn't doing anything wrong. Looking at merchandise before making a purchase is a completely normal part of shopping, and being treated with suspicion for doing so is not acceptable. It's left a genuinely sour taste in my mouth about visiting this location again. I'll also note that when I asked, staff told me they don't make any candy in-store except for the popcorn. read more

My mother worked here as a teenager in the 1940's. She used to love to tell the story of how Mr. Doherty "stole" her from the candy counter at Laubach's Department Store for an extra nickel an hour. She was there until the late 50's, had her five kids, and returned through the 70's and 80's. I always remember my Mom smelling like roasted nuts and carmelcorn when she came home from work. I always make sure I stop in when I return to Easton to reminisce with Sia and of course pick up some Almond Butter Crunch. read more

I grew up getting popcorn and candy from the Carmelcorn Shop and feel like I am transported back into the 90s every time I walk in the door. Not only is there popcorn and caramel corn out of this world, their old school candy is my favorite. I love yo go to this little shop that has been around longer than I have been. They specialize in homemade chocolates, roasted nuts and Carmel and popcorn. Everything is always fresh, staff is great and it is like walking into the past. Great place to go if your looking for candies from years ago or specialty items that are hard to find. They even gift wrap. They do have limited hours with COVID but definitely worth the trip. This is one small business worth supporting. Omg! This little candy shop will take you back to being a kid all over again. The only trick is the prices have changed from when we were kids in the early 70's-80's when candy shops candy was only a penny. But, it's not the Carmelcorn shop's fault prices went up everywhere. I give this candy shop a 5 Star if it could be a ten, I'd give it a ten! From fresh Carmel popcorn, to homemade chocolates, rock candy, to candy cigarettes and so much more. Fantastic place! It's family-owned by a very nice Lebanese family who make everything themselves. They were very nice to talk to and it was really nice to see such a nice small business in Easton. I only got to try some chocolate coconut clusters and an assortment of chocolate mint candies, but they were some of the best chocolates that I've ever had in my life. I'm definitely going to stop by again if I'm in the area again! read more

Have visited twice in past 5 months while on college tours with my daughter. The chocolates are delicious and we particularly liked the salted carmels, peanut butter bolsters and molasses chips. 1/2 pound box was only $7. A great little shop! read more

I frequent this store for special occasions or sometimes a treat for the kids. Extremely reasonable and quality. Very pleasant and conversational. I believe this establishment has been there for 80 years. I would recommend. Only downside is finding a parking space as it is on the Easton square. I have never purchased the Carmel corn so cannot comment on it. read more

Best store ever. From chocolate covered blueberries to dried apricots, this place has everything to make everybody smile. The nuts are prepared every day and they are fresh and delicious. The caramel corn is really good. The chocolate covered blueberries and really sweet and yummy. I love this place! The consistent -- and long -- family ownership makes it a trip back in time, with nut roasting methods and candy recipes as they always were, plus some up-to-date items like candied ginger. Freshly roasted nuts was a staple (particularly a New Jersey staple) at one time; now that the healthy quality of nuts is being increasingly appreciated everything old is nuts again. I haven't tried the dark roasted peanuts (something I've never seen anywhere else) -- first on my list for next time. read more

Went on Sat., while the Farmer's Market was being held in the square. Ordered caramel corn. They did not have any popcorn, ran out the day before! How ridiculous! No one in the shop knew how to pop the corn? This is the perfect example of why small businesses fail. read more
