We got a puppy a few months ago and decided to try this vet. Overall, Dr Savage is really a great doctor, but the person working the front desk is awful. I called the day before my appointment to tell them I needed to change my appointment as something came up for work. The minute I said it, she was like well you're not getting in until the end of June (one month away). I explained to her that I just needed one more shot for my series of vaccines. She says... we don't have any appointments and you'll have to start the series of vaccines all over again. Obviously I'm not going to do that so I got her records and called another vet. They were more than accommodating and squeezed me in one day later. It's too bad that I'll never go back... Dr Savage is really a great doctor. I really liked her, but I'm not going to deal with some nasty person at the front desk. read more

Dear Diane H. As stated to the representative on the phone, my dogs were vaccinated in February in Missouri. Full exams, vaccines and tests and they passed with flying colors. I gave their weight range, 2 in the up to 25 range and another in the 26-50 range. The rep seemed uninterested in speaking with me or in answering my questions. I found via Facebook that we know an employee at this practice. Because of that we would have picked Goodison had the receptionist not have had a poor attitude and insisted in not listening to a word we said. Thanks for your time. read more

I have been taking my dogs to Goodison Vet for close to 6 years now. Dr Doug always takes my concerns into consideration and respect my views on over medicating or vaccinating. He doesnt push more procedures onto me just so they can make more money. A few years back my Shih Tzu came in for a routine check up and he immediately noticed something to be off with here eyes, and he found a ophthalmologist that day for me to go to and even made the appointment for me. He still gave her an exam and we decided not to do vaccines since she needed to be seen by the ophthalmologist. Turns out she had Progressive Rental Atrophy, Cataracts and Dry Eye. The great thing is, is i wasn't even charge an office visit. He truly does care about me and my dogs. I highly recommend him and his staff. They are all wonderful. read more

A colleague recommended Dr. angel for my cats tooth surgery. They were so sweet and accommodating and I felt comfortable leaving my sweet kitty there for surgery. Thank God for this Goodison Veterinarian. Dr. Catalina is amazing!! BEWARE Of Parker Veterinarian in Oxford MI. Anyone who knows us, knows we love our fur babies very much. WE take them to the vet regularly, we spend more for the better food, and they are spoiled very much. Since Bear has been abut 5 months old we have questioned on at least a monthly basis with Parker Veterinarian about a clicking in his back leg, every time we voiced our concerns about it we were told that its nothing, and almost like it was a bother that we inquired. Last week we took Max in. He is losing a noticeable amount of weight. The vet appointment confirmed that he was losing weight, in a 10 day period he lost 10 pounds. You would think that the vet would be concerned, not Parker Vet! We were told that he STILL looks healthy so there is no need to address it. REALLY, your going to wait until he is not doing well to address an obvious problem. After demanding that he be tested for what they thought could be the problem, the vet finally agreed to do blood work, but did not say what they are testing for. After the blood was drawn, I left messages for 4 days with no return call. I finally went into the clinic, Dr. Holly came out with Max's chart and asked rudely "What do you want?" I advised him that I have been leaving messages for 4 days to get my dogs results, he stated " well I am busy" to which my reply was "So am I", he replied with "congratulations to you " I then stated I wanted to get my dogs results and he stated " Who are you, I don't know you or your dog" (remember he has my dogs chart in hand) I replied " I would like to know what you tested him for, did you check his thyroid?" He stated "WOW, I am so glad you know how to do my job" I replied" I want my dogs results" He stated that " I dont want to give them to you" I asked for the medical records he stated NO. I advised him that I can easily have the charge reversed for the blood work and get a new vet, he stated " I suggest you do all of that" I DID!!! We made an appointment with Goodison Vet in Rochester! Dr. Catalina was amazing!! She took the time to make the dogs comfortable first, not like the production line we had become accustom to. It turns out that Bear has Hip Dysplasia. The sad thing is if it is caught before 7 months, there is a simple procedure for the dog that saves them a lot of pain and issues in life. Due to the negligence of Parker Veterinarian clinic we lost out on that opportunity. Now our options are medication for life, including pain meds, and lots of pain for him, or hip replacement surgery. It makes me angry to think of how much Bear has to suffer due to their incompetence. Max was lost more weight in that time period. We had to take him back on Tuesday for fasting blood work that includes to see if he can absorb nutrients, Addisons disease, Kidney disease, and the dreaded word cancer. The great thing was regardless of the disturbing news from Goodison Vet, they had our babies best interest at heart and started testing and treating immediately. I am putting this out there so your pets health is not compromised by sub par care at Parker Vet. read more

Extremely disappointed. My girlfriend and I took in 3 dogs to be spayed (one was being spayed and having teeth extracted). After the surgery, we had complications on 2 of the 3 dogs. The dog with a spray and teeth removal came down with pancreatitis, pneumonia, and esophagitis. She was was hospitalized for about a week. She is currently still recovering. Our other dog is almost 5 years old and had kidney failure after the spay. We informed Dr Catalina that she experienced a kidney failure the year prior. We were later informed by other vets that the anesthesia and medication (metacam) that we're used by Dr Catalina we're likely what triggered this kidney failure, and should have either used medication with less impact on the kidneys or been declined as a candidate for surgery to begin with. As of now we have been informed that she only has a few months to live now and that's with her having to eat a kidney specific diet, daily medication, and having to keep her hydrated via a needle and bag of fluids fluids daily. All of this has cause almost $20k in expenses for a simple spay. This has caused significant levels of stress both emotionally and financially. read more

Sometimes you have the pleasure of meeting a person who truly has a calling for the job they do. On Monday, my husband and I took our sweet kitty, Tiger, in to see Dr. Catalina. The day before we had found him hiding in our basement, not interested in eating or drinking, with very labored breath. We knew the situation was most likely dire but obviously hoped for the best. Dr. Catalina did a physical exam and gave us the sad news that he appeared to be in congenital heart failure. She gave us all of our options but let us know the prognosis wasn't good even with all the intervention she could offer. She shared her own story of losing her cat to heart failure a year ago and shared how she would choose to go about it if she had to do it over again. In a moment of absolute despair and sadness, she was a bright light. She gave us all the information we needed to make our decision, told us exactly what to expect throughout the entire process, and gave us as much time as we needed to say goodbye to our family member. I felt her compassion and I know that if there had been anything she could have done to save our boy, she would have told us. As difficult as the decision is to put a pet down, knowing you are doing the best thing for them makes it just a little bit easier. Dr. Catalina is an angel on Earth and someone who is doing exactly what she should be doing in this life. I couldn't have been more comforted if my own mom had been holding my hand through this. I will absolutely continue to bring my babies to her and would recommend 1000% that anyone else do the same. read more

What's not to love in this place? We've been going here for 7 years for our two kitty cats. I was impressed at how big and roomy this place is. Very clean also. They have a good team of Vets here. Snickers and Shadow are now seeing Dr. Jill Savage and she is just wonderful. She is really good with them. They cost a little more compared to the other ones around the area but they are definitely worth it:) Definitely recommend this place. read more

Today was my second time taking my 1 year old cat there and I was so impressed with them! She had an abscess on her face and wasn't acting like herself so I was very concerned. The vet double booked an appointment for me just so she could treat my cat before the weekend came! She addressed the issue quickly and walked me through all the steps and what needed to be ordered/ informed me about prices before doing them! They are very caring, professional and intelligent. Not just the vets but the overall staff! I've been to other vets and no one is as caring and supportive. They are a little more expensive compared to the previous vet I've been to but it's worth it because they actually address the problem and help instead of multiple visits trying to figure things out! Which leads to the animal suffering and vet bills adding up! Thank you to the vets at Goodison I only trust them to care for my cats! read more

This was our first time at Goodison. We found them online while looking for a dental specific vet. Our 13 year old chihuahua needed extractions and we didn't want to take any chances with her care. The doctor and staff were exceptional. Dr. Molly met with us before the procedure and explained everything in great detail. We knew exactly what to expect and felt extremely comfortable with leaving our pet in their care. The dental procedure went exactly as the doctor told us to expect it would. The review after the procedure was very thorough and highly informative. We saw detailed photos and x-rays of every aspect before and after. The instructions and prescriptions were prepared with great care. 2 days after her surgery our little git is doing fantastic. We will definitely be returning for our dental care in the future. Great veterinary clinic. It is important to note that you may find the fees to be a bit higher than your average vet. But, we feel the cost was worth the peace of mind we received due to the quality of care and exceptional medical staff. read more

I have been taking my maltese here since he was 8 weeks old. I can not say enough good things about Dr. Yee. She is very knowledgable and understanding. She makes you feel at ease from the moment you meet her. There have been several occasions where I have had to bring my puppy in because he was either sick or needed immediate care and every time the staff has fit me in that very day within a couple hours of calling. It is true that you get what you pay for with a vet. Although Goodison is a little more expensive than other clinics the quality of care way surpasses other clinics. I moved to the area about a year ago and I had to find a new vet. This office has been nothing short of amazing. They have always taken exceptional care of me and my Corgi puppy. They've been thorough with every question I've asked and have always made us feel welcome. If you're on the fence about this place, don't be. This office is the place to go for your pets medical needs, the staff and doctors are super friendly and are just genuinely great people. If there's an emergency or I feel like something is wrong, they have always told me to head up there and they accommodate accordingly. I have nothing but praise for this place. read more

We took our dog to get a second opinion at Goodison when our regular vet told us that our dog needed his 4th premolar extracted from a fracture. We spoke with doctor Molly about the different options. Today Gino got a root canal, although there was a minor complication of not being able to get into the third root of the tooth, she called us to give us another set of options in the middle of surgery. She then was able to remove the one bad root and still save his tooth. Below the pictures are attached, she did a phenomenal job. We have a very nervous dog, and she was very personable and made sure we knew every step of the procedure, like I said, while she ran into a roadblock she still made sure to do whatever she could for our dog. I highly recommend this vet to anybody who is looking for someone who specializes in dentistry! Thank you Dr. Molly!! Ps. This review is entirely for Dr. Jennifer Catalina who is gross incompetent and should have her license taken away, I took my 3 miniature schnauzers and all of them ended up sick 2 of them in critical condition. For a regular spay you would expect them to know what they are doing, clearly they are not. All of them were prescribed Metacam an overdose of it, causing my 9 year old to be in the hospital for 10 days with aspiration pneumonia, pancreatitis, esophigitis, etc. She is now at home thanks to professionals at Blue Pearl, my other baby had a previous history of kidney failure, later that I knew Metacam could be fatal for this condition, and yet she was prescribed that as well, she is been released today with Stage 4 of Kidney Failure with hope of only a few months to live.... "Dr" Catalina gets the daily report and have not even called once, what an incompetent "Dr" and horrible human being. Goodison Veterinary you should investigate further!!!! You are supposed to help not to put honest owners who trust you under all this emotional and financial stress. read more

This is a place which loves your money more so than your pet or your personal love and concern for your pets well being. I understand this is a business however our most recent experience with this facility has left our family looking for a new veterinary clinic so please be extremely cautious if you plan on continuing to take your pet here or if this may be your first experience. Let me explain, we took our dog in for routine grooming and the receptionist indicated our pet was due for a series of scheduled shots to which we granted authorization to administer. When it came time to pick our pet back up we were floored by the bill and all the additional add on charges which they took the liberty to perform on our pet without our consent. When it came time to pay my wife was literally in tears in their lobby since she wasn't present to be with our pet during the unauthorized exam and blood work ...etc. she asked to see the pet to which the reply was our policy is to receive payment before we can release the pet back to the owner. REALLY? How sympathetic is this to a pet owner's concern for their beloved pet. Moral of the story here is this could be you so watch for the upsell ... even car repair shops seem to have more integrity & compassion then this facility. I know the word has been out on the streets of Oakland Twp/Lake Orion .., etc. and friends and neighbors have already been taking their pets to other vets for years for this very same reason. It's a shame because the vet is good yet their business model is a cash grab. Hopefully through social media this may change over time but until then please be careful if you continue or are considering Goodi$on vet. read more

I brought my dog in following a fight with another dog. The vet examined my dog and sent him home with an antibiotic and eye cream for a bite wound above his eye. Later that evening, I noticed fluid oozing out of two large puncture wounds on his throat. I called Goodison Veterinary and was told to bring the dog back in to have a technician shave his throat or to just shave it myself. During the initial examination, I had informed the vet that there must be puncture wounds on my dog's throat because there had been bleeding immediately after the fight. I am disappointed in the level of care my dog received. I think the vet passed over my dog's injuries too quickly. My dog's throat should have been shaved and the bite wounds examined in the initial office visit. read more

I had been going to Goodison Vet for many years and always loved the vets there. I always thought that their prices were very high, but considered it a get what you pay for. When I brought my dog in to have 2 teeth removed I was astounded to find out it was over $500. A people dentist doesn't charge that much. At that visit I was informed that there was a possibility that Dr. Molly could do a root canal on the teeth - really! Interesting, Dr. Molly specializes in animal dentistry and it would cost more than the extraction. When I asked if the dog would be hampered by 2 missing teeth I was told no - which he wasn't and opted for the removal. I then took my cat in thinking she had an abscessed canine a couple years later. It was at that time we saw a new doctor they had just hired. Within 20 seconds of looking in her mouth said "She's got feline resorption syndrome." There is no cure and often the recommendation is to have all her teeth pulled - to the tune of about $400-500. She wouldn't even give her an antibiotic - said it would only clear it up for a week or two and the infection would be back. Needless to say, that was the day I terminated my relationship with that office. I took my cat in to another vet for a second opinion and they said she just needed her teeth cleaned - no FSR. Gave her an antibiotic. She was back in the office a few days later, had her teeth cleaned and is just fine - oh, and it cost $100 for all of that. It's not that I would never take my pets back there - just found a more reasonably priced vet who I feel does just as good a job as them. read more
