Ive been coming to Goodrich Optical for over 12 years! They're a small-local, family owned business and they extend that family sentiment on to their customers! From the front Desk, to the optometrist, Dr Bosak who makes the experience personable, and always has an adventure, recipe or a good podcast to share they are a great team!! Dave Goodrich broke me from my traditional black and brown frames back then, and it's been nothing but funky-fun frames since! Today I went in for what you could call a personal, mini trunk show and sale and was like a kid in the candy store! I tried on what must have been over 20+ frames with Karen who has the patience of a saint, and ordered some really fun frames for a really good deal! I wouldn't do business with anyone else! Maybe not insinuate the a patient is lying about a double charge or get hostile and say the person who is a supervisor from my bank could've been anyone and been hostile to them as well. This was my first experience with this company and my last. There was no need to get hostile. read more

I have gone there alot and loved it. Until today. The receptionist was being very very rude!!! The whole time i was on the phone with her and made me feel very unwanted. By far Goodrich Optical is one of the finest places not only in Michigan, but in all the states that I have ever used. If it was not difficult to fly from South Florida to Holt, Michigan I would have them do all my lenses for all my frames all the time. The Goodrich family runs by far one of the finest optical combination of eye testing and frames in the United States. Every time I call even though no one there knows me, they are extremely friendly and cooperative as if I was a family member calling to say hello. From Florida I have frequently had David Goodrich take care of my lens and frames when I was at my wits end with numerous Florida optical stores that did not have my chassis parts, poorly adjusted the glasses, poor measurements for lenses etc. The citizens of Holt are lucky to have such a complete and excellent optical experience with people who are so caring, knowledgeable, organized and informative. I only wish they had a facility in South Florida, but I am happy I am able to conduct business with Goodrich Optical for my lenses and chassis as if they were in Florida. Goodrich Optical are the only ones in the United States that have parts for my particular frames, I appreciate that I can get parts from them through the mail and they can make lenses for me by sending my old lens and frame with a new prescription. If it was not for Goodrich, I would have to had to replace my titanium frames from France years ago. read more

I have been going to Goodrich Optical for a few years. They are mostly functional, extremely overpriced like all retail eyeware outlets are now. Dr Bosak is good. The reason I give such a low rating here is the support staff: they get so busy that they don't have time to do their job all of the time. I got new insurance, a company that is not always easy to work with. But it is always a matter of time and effort to weave throught their online systems to register and have covered their patients. As soon as there was any problem with the insurance company's system the Goodrich employee decided they did not have time to help me. Instead of calling them she sent them an email and told me she would call me when they responded. I returned 3 hours later and asked if they had written back and she said they did, even though she didn't call me. She got on their system and had a problem and told me she didn't have time to call them. I offered to call them right then and she said I would need to exit the office to make that call. I got them on the phone and got additional information to expedite the order. I gave that information to the Goodrich employee and she got back into their system only to have another problem, again she refused to call them. I told her it only took me a few min to get their customer services on the phone and I could do that while she was helping others, she refused. She said she would have to follow up with them next week and call me, but I never heard from her. I took my business to Sears, where Dr Bosak also practices. The owner responded so i wanted to clarify what i hadn't in my first post. I made the statement about race because that's how i felt for a number of reason. I also believe any other reasonable person would have seen the same. It wasn't a jump to a conclusion it was actually a reasonable assumption being that I was the only person of color in the office at the time and others in the office had children touching things and my son was target out of all the children when he cleary is old enough to stand by my side and try on a pair of glasses. Again, there were other kids there that i even wanted to tell to have a seat and your staff did not because they were all to busy watching my child. I am not a fool, therefore i understand the repercussions for involving race into situations. I ONLY bring race (which a major issue in this country by the way) up for the fact that it was clearly the only difference i had with the other patients who were all treated kindly and sweet. My observation was not made out of a rush to judgement but in fact I gave your business an additional visit just to prove my point. I made it a point to observed the treatment of customers while i waited in your lobby . Even my greeting into the door was half-assed so please don't ever assume i NEED or have to play the race card. In my review i made it clear i thought you all were professional enough to do the job but if i can assist another person of color from feeling "less than" or even almost watched like a hawk the entire time there in your business ..then i will. I've been going to Goodrich for many years now. Their service and knowledge far surpasses those that I've found in private practice. I find the reviews I've read to be puzzling. I've never seen them treat one customer differently from another, including blacks, asians, hispanics. When I was there last week, a mother was in with her children; one boy was running around, touching this and that..nothing was said, no one was chastised, and he was a black child. As far as being greeted when I come in..I'm not greeted any differently than anyone else.. no one is. They also know the various insurances, they know your deductible's, they know the optical business and everything is checked and verified and relayed to you before you purchase your glasses. They're fair, honest, dependable and friendly. People have been going to them for years for a reason...they're great to work with, they're very kind and helpful, and above all else, they're honest and considerate. read more

In addition to wearing regular glasses, I also wear computer glasses and only they have made glasses that really work for me. I went here just to get new lenses for my existing glasses because they were scratched. Simple, right? No. They first tried to get me to buy a new frame for the lenses (the frame was fine). Next apparently it takes 7-10 days to get new lenses installed, and they need your frames to do this. So after another week I finally get the glasses back, but they put in thick plastic lenses, not the thin type lenses that were in previously. The thickness of the plastic distorted the vision terribly and gave me a monster headache. I've changed out my lenses before on this frame without any issues, so why they decided to install a different lens material is confusing. Therefore, I had to wait another 10 days for them to make new lenses again. This time however, the vision was still distorted, which I can only attribute to the doctor giving me the wrong prescription. My vision is still distorted even after a week of using the new lenses. I would go back and argue with the staff about a full refund, but since they were so severely passive-aggressive, I would do better to just lose the money and not deal with jerky people. Oh, and this is my first yelp review, that's how strongly I feel about this experience. read more

Goodrich Optical is a family business, employing multiple generations. Spending your money here means you're helping send their kids to college and put food on their table. They certainly earn your money! They're very friendly, smart, beyond competent, and truly caring. I was worried going in, as I hadn't read reviews and it's not the most cosmopolitan section of Lansing. I walked out and immediately called a friend to discuss the amazing experience. This is a family business. Parents and children are opticians and managers of this eyeglass shop. I am new to the area. I accidentally stepped on my glasses and twisted them. They were in terrible shape, and I presumed that I would have to buy a new pair. I don't have that kind of money, and I needed them repaired quickly. Goodrich has a large ad in the Yellow Pages. I bought my glasses at Walmart in Flint, but knew that I would have no luck getting them repaired there. Goodrich's told me to come in; they made no promises, but said that they would see what they could do. Dr. Goodrich, Sr., (I believe), worked on my glasses for 20 minutes and fixed them. After the repair, he just said, "come and visit us again." I believe his wife is the office manager. They are quiet and professional people. Really, this is one of the friendliest and helpful businesses I have encountered in Lansing. I will definitely visit Goodrich Optical again. They inspired a great deal of confidence; while I am naturally cautious, I would trust this business with the care of my eyes, having observed the care that they took with a simpler matter. read more
