I hired Goodroad Landscaping for a project to improve our front yard. I had a few ideas, but I needed help from someone with inspiration and skills. I met with Robbie and it was clear she had those talents. The project was started on time, completed on time, and far surpassed my expectations - not only during the day but the nighttime lighting is exceptional as well. Really couldn't have been better. Goodroads was the last step in a huge and frustrating 2 year project. From first contact, layout, pre-work check, the work and post look over it was organized and detail oriented in ways no other landscaping company I've ever dealt with was. Even payment has modern options. The vision we had was understood and followed. Leaving a small pile of stones to cover an unfinished area. Robbie (identified herself as the owner) was the estimator and I would not recommend her. This company may do good work; however, we would never hire them based on our experience with her. Within minutes of explaining the plans we wanted for our backyard, it quickly became clear she judges a homeowner's pocketbook by the appearance of their home. She had the nerve to stand in our backyard and tell us that "based on the look of your house, you will not be able to afford to do what you want". She actually mentioned this several times during her short stay. How sad that she judges a book by it's cover. She didn't ask nor does it matter, but we are in the middle of bringing life back to an ole, neglected home. We had our rock, pavers, grass and trees picked out, but with each item we expressed interest in, she advised us, "you don't want that, you want this....". By the time she was done, the backyard we wanted was no longer what we should have. I am open to suggestions from professionals, but to completely change the homeowner's plan is unprofessional. She did give us the courtesy of providing 2 proposals - 1 with what we requested and 1 with what she thought we could afford. Interestingly enough, both bids are more than double or triple the bids we have received from others with the plan we expressed we wanted. Unless you have a beautiful home that expresses a healthy pocketbook, I would not recommend Goodroad Landscaping. read more

18 years ago we had Goodroad Landscaping design and install our desert landscaping when we built our home. Every few years we will have them come and "freshen" and clean up our property. We had a well dug that they had to dig up our front area to make all the connections, so we had to get the Goodroad crew out to clean up the mess. Usually when you use a company that charges a lot, you get excellent customer service which includes a willingness to make things right when there is a dispute. This was not my experience with Goodroad who, after adjusting watering times on my drip system clock, refused to accept that the reason all my plants died was because they had programmed the timer incorrectly. Robbie continued to push back even after I demonstrated to her that the unit was functioning fine but had faulty programming. She blamed dust storms, power outages, timer firmware, and even my reluctance to change the backup battery several times a year. "Computers do funny things" she told me. Yeah, I'm a tech geek - you're not going to pull that one over on me. Eventually she reluctantly claimed to take responsibility for the error and agreed to replace the dead plants which were barely a month old. The low point to this fiasco was when I saw her at Sprinkler World (she didn't see me) and overheard her talking trash about me and the dead plant situation. She suggested to the staff that I had somehow altered the programming in the timer after she left in order to get her to have to replace $300 worth of plants. Right - I'd lie to get her to replace perfectly good plants because that somehow benefits me. Coincidentally, my bill was $300 above average the month that she agreed to replace the plants for free. There hasn't been a problem with the timer since all this happened. With a remodel underway and a new baby coming in January I haven't made the time to replace Goodroad, but I plan to. It's too bad - she has a knack for putting together a great looking yard. Robbie is very creative, but you pay top dollar for it and you don't get professionalism if you end up in a dispute. We love our yard! Robbie sketched out a design for our water feature within minutes of meeting us and discussing our vision. We were ready to have guests over to enjoy the new yard within the week. She even went inside the house, adding indoor pots with plants throughout. Our water feature is the highlight of our yard now, and everyone comments on how much they love our little oasis. We couldn't be happier. They were on time, the crew was professional, and we had no problems. Although we went a little above our budget, I can tell you, it was was worth it! I agree 100% with Josh K. I just hired Goodroad to do a clean up and perform monthly maintenance services at my property. I would have expected with the amount that she charges her customers that her customer service would be reciprocal with her high price tag. SUCH IS NOT THE CASE! My experience with Goodroad when I brought up issues I had with my now dying lawn was anything but, what one would call good customer service. Plants and a lawn that was thriving is now bald and dead. Her lack of willingness to correct things when there is a dispute and flipping the script like it is the clients fault is atrocious. When I brought this to the attention of her assistant she had Robbie call me to further discuss. Well there was no discussion by Robbie. She had the audacity to tell me that my lawn was "in bad shape and probably was diseased" when she arrived at my property a month and a half prior, despite the fact that I had photographs of my yard, including the lawn, to show it lush and green and never had any such problems prior. She refused to admit to any wrongdoing by her or her staff. When I informed her that what she was telling me was incorrect and not warranted, that I even had images to further support my gripe she then stated that my irrigation system had probably failed. I told her I never had a problem with it not watering the plants/lawn prior. It was clear that her staff adjusted the watering times on my drip system clock, as I hardly ever saw the system go on like I did previously. She refused to take any accountability for the fact that my lawn died when they had reprogrammed the watering timer. It is a shame. Robbie expects her clients to pay her top dollar for her services and you do not receive the same top dollar professionalism in return if you end up having issue. Nothing is ever her fault, even when it clearly is. read more
