Horrible experience with this company. Poor attention to detail allowed 7 of our mature plants to die because they "forgot " to turn on the water after they supposedly fixed our irrigation system. The crew apparently didn't notice that the plants were dying and we had to call it to their attention. Owner wouldn't return calls to discuss and crew supervisor was equally unresponsive. We have been a customer of this company since 2020 and have spent $43,871.98 on various landscape/irrigation projects with them over that time period. In addition we have also used them for our yard's monthly maintenance. HOWEVER, we have just fired them due to their new management's fraudulent practices. (They were bought out a year or two ago by a private equity investment group). My experience: They recently sent out an email blast that stated "Many communities and insurance policies now require homeowners to be Firewise certified annually. This program helps protect properties from wildfire damage during Arizona's sizzling hot summers. Desert Foothills Landscape is a Firewise certified provider. We do onsite assessments and implement any needed landscape and perimeter area clean-up to meet Firewise codes. Upon the completion of any work required, we provide the verification you will need to include in your HOA or insurance compliance submission paperwork." (Note we have already spent $5314.83 with them over the past 3 yrs to routinely do firewise type clean up around our home, but because our HOA is now trying to get our whole neighborhood Firewise certified with the fire department, we contacted Desert Foothills' eblast author to ask about this service). We were told by the firewise Supervisor that they would assess our property, do all the necessary clean up according to fire codes, and give us a certificate upon completion to present to our HOA and/or Insurance company that we are Firewise compliant. They assessed our property to cost $3722.43 to bring it up to meet fire codes (even though we had already spent the above $5314.83 for this and have maintained our property on a monthly basis with them for the past 6 yrs). Nevertheless we agreed for them to do this work and expected to get some sort of a certificate we could present to our HOA and/or Insurance company. However, upon completion we only got an invoice from them, no certificate or verification of being firewise compliant at all. We called their office and were told they do not issue certificates for this kind of work and never have. We were told to just send their invoice to our HOA/Insurance company. This is NOT what their email blast says, nor what the firewise Supervisor told me on several occasions. Their management will not correct the situation, nor even return calls or emails. To be treated this way after being a loyal customer for 6 yrs and having spent so much money with this company, it is incomprehensible to me this company would do this. I would suggest anyone looking to do business with this company to look elsewhere. If they treated us this way, they will treat you this way, too. read more

Scam Alert. Tried to get a landscape plan form them. Provided what I wanted and had to provide $2,000 Landscape Design fee. However, they never listened to when I wanted done for a completed front and backyard design. It took over a month to finally get the initial plan. It was nothing like what I wanted and they added over 3 times the amount of plants than I wanted. The 2nd plan wasn't much better. They refused to do a 3 plan (which the feed covered a plan and 2 revisions They only want to do what they want and not what the customer wants. I requested a refund and they refused stating it is non-refundable. They stated that what they are providing is only what the HOA would approve. This is false as another provider did provide what I wanted and it was approved by the HOA. So this is nothing more than a scam to over provide the high quantity of plants and only a design they want. If that is not what the customer want they just keep your $2,000. Don't make the same mistake I made. read more

Terrible company. A big scam. Continues to send bills and does very little work. For example, they claim to be checking the lighting in my yard and charges $85 for doing nothing, even when I ask them to please leave! Or they claim to be checking the irrigation. Or they claim to be fertilizing! They do none of it! Then one time, with out warning, they even dumped a pile of dirt in my driveway saying they were going to redo my brand new front yard! I was shocked! I asked them to remove the dirt. I had no idea what they were doing! I never signed any contract to perform any work to my front yard other than monthly maintenance, which was supposed to be a flat rate of $205 a month. This company is a complete sham. read more

This Company is terrible...they charge/month for every other week service and are suppose to be here for at least an hour each time! They are typically here for MAYBE 1/2 hr And don't even notice or attend to fallen bushes, dying plants (we have lots a lot on their watch). They will charge you a lot of money to maintain your property and then show up and just blow off your driveway. They will then lie and tell you they are doing everything they are supposed to do. Desert Foothills Landscape is just finishing a job at our home in Anthem CC. To say we are pleased is an understatement. Let me tell you all the good things about this company... 1. We chose this company primarily because of their design center on Cave Creek Road. It looked like a successful company. Many of the ones we researched on the internet, looked good at a first glance but often if you checked out the address on google, it was a home or a very modest building. We knew they were just contractors who subbed everything which gives you less control. 2. We met with Jake (one of their designers) who is very personable. He seemed to have a good knowledge of what was needed and he listened to things that we wanted (saguaros, yuccas, minimal flowering plants, etc.). 3. We met with Jake to go over the final plans. This at first was a disappointment since we were expecting these elaborate drawings. In hindsight, we realize that a lot of money goes into drawings (takes labor) instead of in the ground. Not having worked with this company, the question begged "are we going to get what we really like without seeing a rendition on paper?" Well, it is a resounding YES and more that what we expected. We can now say to any potential customer, Desert Foothills will perform and you don't need the expensive renderings. 4. The workmen that showed up were friendly, extremely competent and very hard working. Being a California weather wimp, I do not understand how they can work in this heat. All in all, we are very pleased customers. Jake has already gotten an inquiry on this company's services from a neighbor of ours who likes our yard. We recently spent over $10,000 on landscape installation and maintenance services with this company. When we raised concerns about the quality of their maintenance services, they abruptly discontinued their service even though there were outstanding warranty issues on some of the landscape installation. Repeated attempts to contact and get the items rectified have been ignored. Stay away from this company. We will have to end up litigating this to get the matter resolved. read more

Hi, I have known and worked with Desert Foothills for over 10 years. They are the most talented as far as design, than anyone else in the North Valley. The main reason I do prefer them is that they do their design is a much larger grander scale. I have also had the pleasure of working with "Cole" and in my opinion he is my favorite!! I live in a single family home in a guard gated community and I expect to spend $15-25k on this project. I needed irrigation, lighting, hardscaping, and a landscape design and planting in the front, sides, and back yards (around the existing flagstone patio). Cole from Desert Foothills Landscaping came out and spent at least 90 minutes, discussing what needed to be done and his ideas for the project, and taking pictures. I realize that I don't have a huge multimillion dollar home and giant yard but he assured me I had plenty to work with. A couple days later I got a letter that based on their work load they would only take jobs with "adequate budget". Why didn't he just say that up front and not waste my time? I told them up front where I lived and he could see that for himself when I arrived. If you call make sure you clarify with them up front what their minimum budget is before you waste time! I still don't know what they consider an "adequate" budget. read more
