A nice way to see the city and learn about the history of Cleveland. I didn't think this would take 2 hours,, but the cruise goes at a leisurely pace with pre-recorded audio explaining the history of the city and buildings as we pass by. Informative and interesting. After the city views, the boat continues to cruise around in the lake, which is why this takes 2 hours. We started boarding around 2:30pm for a 3pm cruise. I would get there earlier to park in their lot. You can easily pay with credit card. Parking was around $14 for 2.5 hours. Perfect for a 2 hour cruise with a little buffer if you want to walk in the area for a bit after. The ship has three floors. The main floor you enter on is enclosed and has AC. On a hot afternoon, this was the place to be! Plenty of large windows to see the sights and large tables with chairs. I believe there is a ramp to enter onto the main floor. Making it accessible for wheelchairs too. Kid friendly as well. There is a canteen where you may purchase snacks. They allow you to bring a water bottle, but I believe no food unless you have medical reasons or it is for your child. We all got ice cream to enjoy during the cruise. Restrooms also on this floor. Take the stairs up (a little steep) and you'll be on level 2, which is open air. This floor has front seating, a bar area, and back area with tables and chairs. A nice option for those that want fresh air and prefer to be outside. I believe there is a third floor that is open as well. We did not venture further up as this was perfect. Staff was friendly. Gotta love a Good Time ... and this was! We took 17 people on the boat and had a great time, young to old. It was a two hour cruise. The Great Lakes part was slightly unpleasant for my sea sick prone self, but the river portion was calm and fun. You see a lot of canoes and bars along the way and they are always happy to see the GT3. They offer food, ice cream treats and drinks on various levels. The first level is enclosed, the second is open air (but covered) and the third is totally open. The first floor bathrooms are a very pleasant surprise. The sinks have soap, water and dryer all built in and touchless. The mirrors even let you control the brightness. What a fun and pleasant surprise. I was a little nervous about taking my son to the restroom on a boat, but all good! We've done this cruise a number if times. I love the scenery and history narration. The big problem is the background music: Please TURN IT DOWN!! This was terribly disorganized. I bought a VIP ticket that included a swag bag certain seating and a separate line for early entrance onto the boat. When I got there, no one had any idea what was going on, including the gentleman who had sent me the email during the day to inform me that that line was there for us to get in line to board early. I was repeatedly told that I would get my swag bag when I get off and they gave me a wooden nickel to hand it to it. When I got off the boat, there's no one to hand it to and the story had changed yet again to tell me that the swag bags would be mailed. Still haven't heard from anybody and we are now five days later. The cruise was a good time, so I would say this boat is properly named, but these people are very disorganized. They ran out of toilet paper, the bathrooms were not maintained during the boat and it was pretty gross. If you're looking to just get drunk and ride around on Lake Erie for a couple of hours then go for it but if you're looking for something that was promised to you by the management of good time three, go somewhere else. Entertaining and enjoyable experience! We paid for the 2 hour excursion online and I'm glad we did. Once we arrived at the ticket office, we just had to pick up our tickets at the will call window. We didn't need to wait in the ticket sales line. There was plenty of room on board for everyone on board. I never felt like it was too crowded as it was easy to move around the boat. If one chooses to listen to the narration, you can learn a lot about the history of Cleveland and the Cuyahoga River. This is an excellent experience for taking great photos if you are into photography. The staff was welcoming and friendly. We were thanked for riding on the Goodtime III! read more

We booked the dinner cruise with night sights that lasts all evening. When dinner was over we were rudely kicked off the boat and handed a ticket to get back on. Why? What was the point of having armed security force us off the boat, send us to the end of a 200+ person line all to be eventually let back on. Booked the Narrated Sightseeing Tour for Sunday at 3:30pm. We received a text 3 hours before only stating the tour was pushed back and will start at 4:30 (no explanation or refund or voucher offered). We show up 45 mins before (around 3:45-4:00pm to a chaotic line in front of the boat that made no sense and no employees were to be found anywhere. Several elderly people including my disabled mother standing for almost an hour in pain with no benches and not allowed to sit on board. Meanwhile we are 30 mins past boarding and no announcement why or employees explaining anything. We finally start to board at 4:45pm (we should have been on the boat and out of the port by then). Random employees who seemed to hate their job and themselves at the entrance not even directing traffic. On board there's just employees standing there again not directing traffic and people pushing through the people trying to actually board to get drinks etc. We sit there until almost 5:30pm and then the dreaded announcement which we knew was coming- they canceled the tour due to a mechanical error. Ok- stuff happens but I truly feel (and by the way the person explaining this over the loud speaker) that they knew the tour would not take place but allowed everyone on board in order to get alcohol and food orders/money. It just seemed very calculated. We then exit and have a bunch of teenage employees laughing at us as we left. We were told we would receive a refund and this would be confirmed in an email Monday. Monday has come and gone and I have no email, no refund. The entire operation is unprofessional, tacky and just shady. The boat and the employees were pathetic too. read more

From a professional, community supported friend: I would not recommend the Goodtime III. We decided to celebrate our 25th high school reunion on the Goodtime as we did for our 10 year reunion. This year we noticed very quickly that the music choice was different from what we typically hear during dinner cruises. We asked the DJ to speed it up and he said the captain told him he didn't want it to be "ghetto", therefore he was not allowed to play rap music. He said he could play line dances but not the Wobble because that is considered "ghetto". Needless to say, we were very offended. Our senior class is filled with professionals, from business owners to judges to doctors. To be labeled as ghetto was unbelievable. We went on the dinner/ dancing cruise. It was nice for the first half, until we returned to the dock to pick up the riff raff for the dancing portion. Way too much time spent at the dock. The security used the wand to scan the men getting on the boat, but not the women. Why not? They say they will not hold the boat for anyone, but that's a lie. I went on a Sunday afternoon cruise on 16 September 2018. I got a free ticket from a friend so I went with her (Joyce). The specific tour that I went on was a narrated sightseeing tour which occur Tuesdays through Sundays at 12:00pm and at 3:00pm. There are also lunch cruises and dinner cruises as well. Normal tickets for the tour I went on (sightseeing tour) is $20 for adults and then there are discounted tickets for Senior citizens, children, and groups over 20. EXPERIENCE - I had a fantastic time sailing through the Cuyahoga River and Laker Erie while learning a ton about the history of the region. Lake Erie is the 13th largest lake in the WORLD and the 4th largest of the 5 Great Lakes. Quick pop quiz (test): name all the 4 other Great Lakes. And GO! The views of downtown Cleveland from the Ship and just enjoying the cool afternoon breeze was spectacular. The entire cruise was 2 hours which is a good amount of time out on the lake. So grab a book to read, take plenty of photos, eat, or chat with a friend. You'll enjoy it. LAYOUT and FOOD - This quadruple-deck ship is large so there will be plenty of room for you to sit. The capacity is 1000 people. Each floor is laid out differently with a restroom on the bottom floor. I believe the first 2 floors are indoors with air conditioning. These floors are also where you can buy snacks (popcorn and maybe chips) as well as water and other drinks. I also noticed that burgers were on sale. The 2nd floor has an area where you can stand or sit outside the ship as well. The next 2 decks are open (no roof) so you can actually stand out and get a clear view of the Lake whilst taking beautiful photos. OVERALL & TIPS - This is a favourite summertime activity for many local residents and I'm so happy that I finally experienced a Goodtime III cruise. Browse the website (https://goodtimeiii.com) for any updated schedule information especially the new 2019 schedules. Also, arrive 10-15 mins early because the ships departs exactly ON TIME. There is a paid parking lot right where the ship docks and departs from so you won't have to park far unless you arrive late in which case there is a free parking lot behind the Cleveland Browns stadium. Service on this cruise was great and the narrator was very detailed in describing so many interesting facts about Cleveland. THIS WAS BY FAR THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH REGARDS TO A DINNER CRUISE!!! The East High School Class of 1980 decided that it would be a good idea to do a dinner cruise for our 45th Reunion. We paid almost $85 per person for what was supposed to be a cruise that started at 6:00pm and end at 11:00pm. To our surprise, it was only a TWO-HOUR dinner cruise. We were told that we had to get of the ship and stand in line to get back on. We weren't told this PRIOR to booking our reservations because we definitely would have considered another option!!! To top it off, the security officer that asked us to get off lacked tact, was very abrasive and was a complete jerk!!! Some of us decided to go other places to continue our celebration. My family is supposed to do the same dinner cruise at the end of July. I am going to reach out to our committee and advise them to come up with another alternative, if it's not too late!!! read more

We had the worst experience on the Goodtime III and will NEVER return, whether for a field trip or personal interest. We strongly advise everyone to avoid this boat. Upon arrival, Cheryl Colicchio, the office lead, was extremely rude at the window. Despite having paid our money and submitted all necessary information beforehand, we were treated poorly. Cheryl even mentioned in an email that "the payment might have gone to her boss because that happened something," which was confusing and unprofessional. Once on the boat, my well-behaved students were unfairly targeted. While other schools were talking, playing around, and singing happy birthday to one of my students, the owner, Rick Fryan, who I'm sure will see this message, singled out my kids and told them to be quiet. He later went around the boat addressing other groups, but only after realizing his mistake and trying to do damage control. Despite admitting that my students were well-behaved, his initial actions left us feeling angry and unwelcome. I was so angry and miserable the entire ride that I couldn't wait to get off the boat with my students. To avoid ruining their experience, I hid my frustration from them. However, all the chaperones and teachers who witnessed this disaster were equally upset. This was by far the most unpleasant field trip experience I've ever had. Save yourself the trouble and find a better option for your outings. If you decide to attend after this review, I hope you're treated better. This was the worst experience! read more

The boat is great. The views are fun. The food is horrible. I do love going on the Good Times III. It's sort or a Cleveland tradition. But each of the three times we've been on the dinner curse, the food has been worse than the last time. We went again on July 6th. The roast beef was salty to the point that someone must have accidentally poured a load of salt into the gravy or over the meat. The worst part was the cheesecake they had for dessert. Not only was it completely tasteless, but I couldn't figure out what fruit topping was supposedly on it. Strawberry? Raspberry? I couldn't figure it out. What a waste!! Hopefully they fix it! I have been living in Cleveland for 8 years now and I am surprised why I have not done this tour before! I LOVED it. My mom who was visiting us out of states also loved it too. So much good information is given about the history of Cleveland and how Cleveland went through the up and down times. The scenery is gorgeous and we have done Narrated Sightseeing tour at noon during the week so the boat was not crowded. The employees were friendly. I suggest to sit the front of the boat on the first floor to take better photos and listen more carefully. They told us to sit the left side of the boat so we can see the city on the first round and switch at the right side on the way back. During Narrated tour you can still buy beverages and yes they carry alcoholic beverages as well as coffee and pop. The prices are very affordable per cup of coffee and pop. read more

We took a lunch cruise this past Sunday. The boarding process went smoothly. We got down to the pier 10 minutes before boarding and we able to get right on the boat. The buffet is served right on the boarding deck at lunch is served between 11-12. They let each table know when they are able to go up, just like at a wedding. The food was just like standard wedding food, beef, chicken and pasta. The cruise was very informative. Been on the GoodTime before and love it!! We took the dinner cruise for our anniversary July 14. I surprised my wife and all she knew was what to wear and be ready by a certain time ;). We had a table on the 2nd floor and shared it with a couple of ladies. The main floor which is air conditioned and with live entertainment was sold out when I got my tickets. The website said to get tickets around 3 days prior to sailing. I ordered them a week out and still missed the main floor. It's ok because we had a great view. For dinner we had chicken, carved beef (yum), vegetables, potatoes, bread and dessert. The beef was so tender I went back for more. After dinner we went up top for a better view. Beautiful homes along the shore and was a great sunset this evening. I'm a sucker for a sunset so of course my camera was out ;). We got back to the 9th st pier and walked around a bit behind the Rock hall of fame. I love what had been done to the at area and will be back. read more

Great boat experience, the only problem is more young adults are going on Jazz night, so I would suggest being able to Listen to the Live band on the 2nd level as well as the 1st, you don't have too see Jazz but you can listen and still have enjoy the boat ride. First time on the dinner cruise. It was amazing. The staff was pleasant, the boat was clean and pretty. The dinner was fantastic - I'm gluten free and had no problems with the selections and was told that If I had said something they would have made me a special meal- but I didn't need it. Coffee water and iced tea was included with the meal plus a fairly well stocked bar. We cruised the breakwater and had a lovely time. When the second portion started we enjoyed the music Of the DJ and went down to visit the live band the Spazmatics for a bit. Went out on a Saturday 3:00pm, 2hr "sightseeing" cruise. Weather was perfect. Crew seemed to be doing a good job both with the boarding process and running the bar. The actual "sightseeing cruise" was a big FAIL. Got caught by the train bridge prior to entering the river. Waited for 15 mins. Once in the River we did about 15mins of touring (mostly seeing piles of sand and rocks) and then got caught by the train bridge again before leaving the river. Waited 30 mins this time due to there being two trains crossing. Total of 45 mins of the boat just sitting still. Once we got past the bridge, there was only 30 mins left and not enough time to do any real sightseeing. Instead of getting us back to the pier 20 mins early, the captain idled the boat all the way back so we got back at the scheduled time (since we weren't "sightseeing" anymore the trip back should have taken 10 mins instead of the 30 spent idling back. The "sightseeing" part of the cruise was only 30 mins total. I know the tour can't control the railroad schedule, but they need to have a contingency or do something for the customers when the tour gets severely messed up. The band was very good but too loud if you are on the first level on the boat and you cannot hear the band on the second level. The dinner left much to be desired. The menu reads well but taste is sadly lacking. The staff that dishes out the food in the buffet line just slaps the food on the dish like you see in prison movie food lines! This boat tour gets high reviews on things to do in Cleveland but I don't get it. It is a two hour boating cruise around the same stretch of the lake and river with a prerecorded tape playing in the background. Once the tape ends there is about 45 minutes of just cruising while listening to Steeley Dan, Bad Company, and Huey Lewis. You know what? I had a great time on the Goodtime III! Why? I love the history lesson, nerdtastic facts, industrial sights, access to dranks (and they take plastic!), nostalgic look, Cleveland skyline views and, well, it's great just being on a damn boat on a hot summer day. This straight of the 80's cruise tour of Cleveland, Lake Erie and the Flats via the Cuyahoga River is packed with info--which the inner nerd in my loves. Sorry if you hate a tour of the industrial, slightly abandoned Flats, but as a life-time Clevelander, I found it not only visually stimulating, but also extremely interesting. Then again, I also knew what to expect. You know, I'm thinking if you wanted a tour of nature you wouldn't take a downtown cruise ship tour of a rust belt city, but hey--that's just me using my common sense. Our trip was on a sunny Saturday afternoon and the boat itself was about 3/4ths full with random families and a few, larger family reunion groups. We didn't have a problem finding a seat at any/all of the levels. It started at the E. 9th pier so we snagged a metered parking spot in front of the Browns Stadium, easy peasy. Like the other Yelpers mentioned, it starts with a tour down the Cuyahoga with lovely tidbits of Cleveland ethnic history, talk of our historic bridges, progress and more. Then the boat turns around for a trip out onto Lake Erie which boasts gorgeous views of our city skyline, perfect for photo snapping, sipping cocktails and enjoying the lake breeze. The food is blegh, but it's a 2hr ride. Eat before or after. The cost is super cheap for a fun family activity or even a romantic evening out.
