Let me start with the good. The trip was great. The crew was wonderful. The music was fantastic. The views are beyond compare. The perfect way to spend a few hours on a hot summer afternoon. The experience was FIVE STARS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ But ... dealing with the sales office to get ON on the boat? ZERO STARS. We planned a 2-part surprise party - the first part was a ride on the Tiki Barge for 11 people early on Sunday afternoon, and the second part was a cookout after for another 16-18 people. We were told by the owners to make reservations in advance, which we did weeks ahead of time. Then we waited and waited and waited - but even though we had paid, we never got confirmation. I called the Monday before and was told that our trip had been cancelled because there weren't enough people (funny, that wasn't mentioned when we made the reservations). They said that they were planning on calling us "later in the week" to let us know. So, our early trip had been cancelled, but we were welcome to call off our 30-person cookout that afternoon and come on a trip later in the day. WHAT IN THE HELL WAS THE POINT OF MAKING RESERVATIONS?! So, we had less than a week to reschedule an entire event that had taken weeks to plan, because Tiki Barge apparently doesn't honor the reservations they tell you to make. If it had been up to me, I would have cancelled the whole trip and gone on the Goodtime III or something, but the birthday person had wanted to go on the boat for quite a while, so we went. The experience on the boat was FANTASTIC. I can't say enough good about the Captain, his Mate and the trip itself. But unless you buy out the entire boat, or if you're lucky and they don't cancel your reservation, it doesn't look like you can actually count on going. They offer "single ticket options" - but unless there are a lot of random strangers showing up at the same time, that doesn't seem likely. The Tiki Barge was fun. Twenty people were included. Three companies shared the cost since it was $800, plus food and drinks. These companies brought in wraps, petite sandwiches, a cheese and sausage tray and chips, which weren't eaten. One host made a tropical drink mix ahead of time for all who wanted. He brought extra pineapple juice if the rum was too strong. There was also an IPA and water. The view of Cleveland from the lake was beautiful. There are four Tiki Barges of different sizes. Note that the smallest boat doesn't go out on the lake. The different building styles were nice to see. Then we cruised the Cuyahoga River, which was amazing with its turns. The crew are funny, personable, and made me feel comfortable and taken care of. I was invited on the Large Barge as a guest, along with a party of about 30. It's BYOB which is nice, because I'm boujie when it comes to drinks and I want high quality ingredients and a well made cocktail. You give your drinks to the bartender, he keeps drinks safe and chilled behind the bar. He even stopped by at one point to check and see if I needed a refill. They provide cups and ice, which is nice. There's a bathroom on board with a flushing toilet. (Kind of like the kind in campers/RVs). This is a nice amenity!! The view of Cleveland is absolutely spectacular! It was such a relaxing and beautiful trip. Our party host put on some good tunes, and it was a vibe! I'm so glad I got to experience the tiki barge and I'd love to do it again in the future!!! This experience is a great way to celebrate, whether it's a bachelor/bachelorette party, birthday, just because... It also looks like they offer group rides open to the public on the largest boat. Basically, a floating tiki barge in Cleveland that comes with a bartender to serve you your drinks and a boat captain to pilot you around Lake Erie while you enjoy the many sights, including the Cleveland Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Great Lakes Science Center, Progressive Field, and FirstEnergy Stadium, among many others! This vessel is able to be rented for public cruises and private trips. Luckily, their website is very easy to use and pretty intuitive. You can do a public tiki cruise for ($40/ticket), a small group for 10 guests ($400), a medium group for 11-15 guests ($600), a large group for 16-20 guests ($700), and an extra-large group for 21 to 30 guests for $1,050. The vessel is BYOB, comes with a bluetooth (repurposed car speakers) sound system that YOU control, a bartender that will serve you the drinks you brought, and a bathroom on board! There is also a little table as well as seats and drink holders around the edge of the boat, and a bar that the bartender works at. The cruise was 2 hours long from 330-530, and I kind of wish that it was just an hour longer. It was a great time! The bartender was super nice and a great bartender, though we mostly brought cans/bottle of brews. Coolers were provided on the boat to keep your drinks nice and cold. There's a waiver that you have to fill out before boarding and lifejackets are provided on the boat! She briefly mentioned that if you get in the water, you need a lifejacket, but the boat never really stopped long enough to swim or anything, not that we were expecting to. We ended up booking the extra large group cruise for thirty people, which ends up being about $40 per person after taxes and such. I was surprised that it didn't feel crowded on the boat at all for 30 people and there was more than enough room to move around easily. The bathroom was basically the size of an airport bathroom but clean and nice that its included! My biggest issue with this boat is that they don't recycle! They just throw the cans and bottles away in the trash. Luckily, I had a bag and I was able to take the recycling home and recycle it myself but... it's 2021? Non-eco friendly businesses are NOT CUTE anymore. Ultimately, it was a super fun and chill experience. The boat is half shaded and has an area open to the sun. It was a great time to see a lot of Cleveland from Lake Erie, enjoy the sunshine, and drink while on a boat blasting Jimmy Buffet. I'd absolutely book with them again! Was great besides the fact that one of the parking attendants tried to fight my uber driver. This happened on 09-10-2022. I would find a new place to dock or find a new company. What a mess.. he literally was screaming the f word at my wife and I after we told him it was our uber driver. I felt extremely threatened and have no idea what caused this, but I feared for my wife and my safety. I would never recommend to anyone. read more
