I like this Goodwill a lot. It doesn't feel like a goodwill when you walk in. The decorating and the "color coordinated" displays are a great touch. They have a lot of cute clothes, plenty of books! The staff was nice, they ask you if you qualify for any 10% discounts before you pay. I got 4 pretty tops for less than $30! Definitely fun to see what they have new come in stock. read more

Came here to check out the books. You can tell this goodwill location is much more curated and selective of the products they display. Some clothes, home decor, accessories, toys, books, etc... with that said, the prices are a NO for me. I definitely expected cheaper prices. Especially for books, many of which appear to have been donated from libraries bc they still had the labels. But there's a price guide and i was surprised they charged like $5.99 for a hardcover. For comparison, books at a Goodwill a couple miles away were prices at $1! read more

Helpful in donating items. They were kind enough to help take out heavy items from my car to donate.

Why even donate? Today I became fed up because after the fifth time I tried to donate to this location they turned me away saying they didn't have space. Whether it was a single bag or many they would refuse my donations. So why try? Management has also been consistently rude simply looking at what I am attempting to donate and saying "No, we won't take that". Go to East H Street they are friendlier and have never refused an item. read more

I had been driving around for a few weeks now with some clothes in my trunk set for donation. I kept for getting to drop it off, and one day after having lunch nearby, low and behold there was a Goodwill right across the parking lot. This time I did not tarry and hit the place up right away after lunch. I was a little skeptical give this place is titles as a Goodwill "Bookstore" but was happy to learn when I walked in that they not only had them books in the back but clothing and such as well. I came in the wrong side and was quickly directed by one of the staff members to the back entrance of the store for dropping item off. The young gent in the back was friendly enough but not much for conversation. I think he just wanted me to get out of there. A few years ago I wasn't a fan of this goodwill as it was small, mostly books and seemed overpriced. On a whim, I swung in here last week and it was packed. The store is still small but they have a lot more than just books...mostly organized by color, which makes for an interesting shopping experience. They now have trinkets, décor items, knickknacks you don't need....hey someone else's junk is now your treasure! I was pleasantly surprised at checkout that they also offer a 10% military discount to anyone with an i.d....including retirees and their dependents. They also don't charge tax so I got two cool items for less than 20 bucks and when I googled my one knickknack discovered I could double my money if I sold it on ebay. My niece told a funny story about shopping at goodwill last year and finding the coat she had just donated the month before on the sales rack. So hey you can double benefit from Goodwill if you choose. read more

OmG!! This is my ultimate favorite goodwill to shop for purse or bags. I love this place I totally have my favorite and this place is truly in my top 3. I have specific goodwills I go to for specific items. For example; I love the goodwill at the board because I can always go here and find sweaters. The one on E H street I get my sweaters and gently use cloths for me and my daughter. They also offer military discount. The only second hand store I will not step foot in is Anvets due to the smell of the place and everything I found in this store was obviously and wore out. read more

A Goodwill in Eastlake? I never thought I'd see the day. Don't get too excited now, it's just a Bookstore. And quite a fancy one at that. One of the first absurdities you may notice is the 60"+ flat screen hung up on the wall. What kind of Goodwill, or even bookstore, uses a huge flat screen tv? It was turned off at the time. The selection range is what you would expect at any Goodwill. Plenty of children's books, lots of mystery, some political autobiographies and a ton of books on Christianity. I picked up three books: El Coran (the Koran in Spanish), Transmission of Light and the I Ching. That took up about half of the Eastern Religion section. Oh yeah, I spotted a "The Islamic Invasion-What you need to know about the largest growing religion" book published by a Christian church in Louisiana. I correctly filed it under the Christian Fiction section. You can also pick up some CDs, DVDs and video games. But they are very limited as the stores main focus is books. The walls are painted fairly ugly. It looked like the super clearance paint from Easter two years ago. Prices are great. You can even join the book club for free. Saves 10% on all purchases, plus you are emailed a coupon four times a year. This location also serves as a Donation Center and Document Destruction?? read more

Great used bookstore. The only aspect of this establishment that is as good or better than the used book selection is the staff. They are helpful and knowledgeable about the store and have a good attitude about their customer service. Prices are a little higher than other second hand book stores I've been too, but perhaps it's the Eastlake area or it could have to do with the VERY LARGE flat screen tv hanging on the wall playing movies! Walked in and seen 4 cases of comIc books . Asked for the manager and asked how much if I just wanted to just buy them all out right. Instead of me wasting both our times of me spreading out about 200 comics. I spend about $200 a week at goodwill. I will show proof if you need it. I politely asked one of the managers "how much would the price be for all the comic books? I usually go through them 1 by 1 but I feel froggy" her "$1 each. Im going by the sticker" then walks away. That's all. Left me high and dry. Very rude. I wanted to buy them. I love goodwill and love helping them out by buying things. I felt very disrespected. read more

went to donate only one trash bag of clothes, my 11 year old daughter looked online and told me it said closing time 7pm. We get there at 530p and I open my trunk and the lady at the donation site clearly saw ONE bag and said they're closed for donations. I told her online said closing time 7 but she said that's the store hours. I could understand if I had a van full of donations but I told her it was only one bag and she still wouldn't take it!!!!!!!! what ever happened to being kind. My boyfriend and I decided to come to this place in hopes of finding some vinyl for our collection. I usually browse the books while I let him check the records. He has found some pretty good ones, from the Flashdance soundtrack labeled in Spanish to Wonderwall Music by George Harrison. The downside is that one of the guys who works there has been doing research on the records people donate and decides to overprice the ones he finds are worth a lot. This is a thrift store, not M-Theory. They also have some kitchenware but they are also overpriced, as well as the DVDs. I understand they need to make money but their items are donated. I usually don't pay too much attention to those. Okay, too much ranting! They do have a wide selection of books, I could spend all day reading here. The price for most of these books is significantly cheap and in excellent condition, that way I don't have to spend a lot on a brand new one. They sometimes also carry stuffed animals, I recently found Remy and Emile from Ratatouille. I'm giving them four stars since they do carry a lot of great items and it's close to home. read more

Been here a few times and this is my go to place for books. Its not just a bookstore. They have clothes and shoes but just for women and the selection isn't so extensive. Never seen mens clothing. They also have trinkets and stuff on top of the bookshelves, but I only go for the books. They have classics, bios, history, kid books, young adult books, mysteries, etc. Great selection. I have always found books I wanted to read. Prices are fair. Love how the place is setup. Very clean and well organized. The books are in great shape. They have a book rack for low priced books. Those aren't in the greatest shape, they're all mass market paperbacks that have been read many times. Friendly staff. I have bought 9 books from here and will buy more. Took my kids here yesterday. The prices were definitely reasonable. The only down side it seems that the children's books are not labeled with pricing so you have to guesstimate what your spending. Other than that there are so many option for children and adults. Plus they have the nick nacks in the store which are always fun to look at. read more

LOVE coming here. I go next door to eat or check our mail....always sneak over to the bookstore...and always wind up with a purchase. Love getting books at a fraction of the cost. Very clean inside. I don't recommend this Goodwill and it's because of a few reasons. They claim to be a donation store that "helps people get jobs and are thankful for donations.. Wrong. The employees here will actually throw out a lot of donations into black bins if they don't think it's nice enough for the store and they also tend to over price some items which I find greedy. Because uhh, isn't everything donated anyway? Lol. I do not actually believe they are a non profit organization since I heard the owners keep most profits. If you want to get rid of some old junk/items than I guess donate them but I would prefer donating to organizations that actually help good causes or homeless people. Eh, sure this place will say they help people find jobs but they really only hire people temporarily & than let them go. The manager Maria is also really rude to her employees. You can hear her yelling in the backroom while you shop sometimes. This store gets cool donations and has an awesome book selection but it's def disappointing that the managers seem to be greedy especially with pricing and also rude/picky when they get donations. This bookstore has a great selection of children's books and DVDs. I saw many children's novels that brought me back--Charlotte's Web, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Harry Potter, etc. As a young adult fiction junkie, I wish there was a greater selection of novels (namely John Green novels). A lot of the short paperback books I saw were $3.99. The staff is friendly and there's a 10% discount if you have a military/student ID. I've been a regular customer here for years and a formal employee & I'm still a huge fan of this store. Whenever I'm in the area I love to see if I can find some cool items. This location started off as mainly a book store back when they first opened. Im a little bummed a lot of people found out about this spot because it does get more packed now vs in thto past. /: They have a big selection of different books, dvds, vinyls, cool kids toys, clothes, home decor and other typical random stuff you find at other thrift stores. Also a clean store vs other thrift stores I've been to. this goodwill is more on the tiny side so don't expect walking into a huge store like the other thrift stores in old Chula Vista area! This Goodwill is super convenient to drop off things. HOWEVER, their customer service is terrible! I rarely write yelp reviews but as others have said as well this location is not about customer service. This is not the first time they have been rude but this time was the last straw. I called to verify hours of drop off and the person that answered the phone said they closed at 5 but to drop off before 4 to be sure to have donations accepted. So, we loaded the car and made it there before 4 only to be told they were full and would not accept our donations. We even let them know we called and what the person said on the phone and they rudely replied that they were full, try again another day. I got on the phone to find another location that was still accepting and got transferred to the Otay Mesa location which is a warehouse. They were closing at 4:30 but said they were still accepting donations. We barely got there in time and then turned in the wrong driveway since it is so big. We arrived a couple of minutes past 4:30 and they were so nice and took our donations even though they were technically closed. Totally worth it to drive a little further and be treated with kindness especially when we are donating things that they are going to turn around and sell for profit. read more
