Lots of games retros and consoles and dvds blue rays and books in the back sure theres manga and figurines at the entrence but if you explore youll find really cool selections and a japanese section I found ps3,ps5, nintendo ds consoles and games and the cheapest being 3$ and some as high as 180$, i liked finding gameboy games the loose cartridges hanging side to side, and you can.sell dtuff here too! Its maybe 5-10 cents an item i think i sold like 8 blue rays got 1$ back about, but ykno they sell things at good prices plus clearance! We were in the area and wanted to search on YELP for a place to WALK what we just had for LUNCH. It's conveniently located in the MITSUWA PLAZA. I always look forward to seeing the SHEET MUSIC SECTION... Every time I come here it seems like the SECTION gets MOVED AROUND. Maybe because I don't come here to often so they must have re arranged the place... I NOTICED that there seems to be more selections of MANGA DISPLAYS. They look pretty cool but, the PRICE mo really HIGH... SHEET MUSIC: There was a very SMALL selection of sheet music for piano. I was almost tempted to buy it but, the pricing was still on the HIGH SIDE meaning it's PRICED too closely to a NEW VERSION of the same book. I would definitely consider doing a price check before buying the USED VERSION... SERVICE: 8/10 They seem friendly but, I'm sure they preferred to be unbothered which was the perception I got based on the expressions and attitude... I remember visiting Bookoff in NYC for the first time 25+ years ago and it blew my mind. That feeling kind of never goes away in any Bookoff. Of course it's even more intense in Japan where it feels like you're in a labyrinth and may never make it out. I always feel like I need to inspect everything closely so I won't miss anything that could change my life lol When I first visited this Bookoff 3 years ago, they didn't have ANY Japanese music. Japanese music is the entire reason I go to Bookoff (and a lifelong passion for me) so this physically hurt me. Japan has the second largest music industry in the world, and this is a Japanese store! I couldn't believe it, I even asked the staff at the time (who were very friendly and helpful, and they still are!) and they confirmed that they had nothing. I know Kpop has basically always been more popular globally but come on y'all. They do play both Jpop and Kpop in the store BGM. Anyway, I'm very happy to report that they have a small section now. It really could be larger considering, but I guess this is what they get sold to them. I didn't recognize a lot of artists in the records (the CDs were too high up for me to browse easily) which just means it's an opportunity for discovery. There's no way to try the records so I'll have to come back with Google and some headphones. I walked out with ひばり美空 & おニャン子クラブ records, lol. I saw 2 イルカ records but didn't bite. Many reviews complain about the pricing. My records were $9 each which is fair but I did notice some were $30-40. About the pricing, all I can say is that they're a specialty brick & mortar store in Socal so they need to survive. And the items sold here cannot be obtained anywhere else easily except for the internet, where you can guarantee many of them would be more expensive. For people like me, I would never complain about the prices no matter what - Bookoff is invaluable. But I get it if a book costs more used than new, that doesn't make sense. They are pricing used, sometimes damaged books, for the SAME price as brand new from the publisher. The pricing here is outrageous and it's only getting worse. You can buy these books for brand new cheaper at Target, Walmart, or even Barnes and Noble, as well as online retailers. This is a used book store. These are NOT used book store prices. This store is taking it's customers for a ride, banking on them not checking the prices in the book. Please I implore you to check the prices before you buy. All I gotta say is we tried to sell a book here but they couldn't help us, because it was a college text book. I told the lady this before we even went, had I known exactly where she was taking me, I could have called first and saved us a trip. I can't count the times she has not listened to me. But then again, she'd say the same about me perhaps.. At least we were already in the area. We also had some older Disney dvds but of course they weren't interested. Can't say we didn't try. My son wanted to sell some of his books so he could buy more books. There aren't many places that still do that. We've come to bookoff a few times to do this. The first time we sold around 30 books and received around $9. This was about a year ago. We we went back a few months later and we took about 20 more books and were offered less than $2. They were kind enough to say one book they would increase to $0.25 since it was a special edition. We took his books and left. For that, I'd rather donate them to someone who could actually use them or find a neighborhood library. We won't be selling more books here. We do visit as my son can find the manga he likes, but I also think it's wrong when a book is listed as $9.99, to ring it up as a straight $10. This place kind of rubs me the wrong way. read more

I took a look through the store and found the exact books I had priced at $5 or more. This is a pretty organized Bookoff with some good selections of Japanese books and bargain English books, CDs, figurines, DVDs and alike. I was disappointed by how moldy and mildewed the store smelled. It was nice to see many selections of Miyuki Miyabe books spanning from her early 1990s booms all the way to late 2010s. The Japanese manga collection doesn't have many Shoujyo mangas (e.g., Ribbon, etc), but good amounts of Shonen mangas. I wouldn't mind swinging by just to see what they have if I'm in the area again but wouldn't go out of my way to visit. Also, the parking spaces are pretty tight and spaces were limited when I went on a late Saturday afternoon. Something to keep in mind if you drive an SUV bigger than a RAV4, etc. My Model 3 barely fit into spaces and my door got dinged. read more

Wow! Sooo much stuff here I could spend hours. If I did spend hours, however, I'd likely find way too many things I'd want to purchase. Which is good and bad LOL!! So many books at decent prices, and they had lots of mystery and thriller titles (my favorite genres). Around $5.50-7.50. They also have a great selection of 1-2 dollar books, unfortunately not the thrillers, but worth checking out. Good service too, workers to help you find things and answer questions. I love this place and could spend hours in here. As a librarian in an elementary school I love coming here to see if I can find books to fill gaps in my series, replacements for lost books or extra copies of very popular books. I mostly have to limit myself to the fabulous $1-$2 book section or else I'd spend way too much money. I love it though because it's like a scavenger hunt and when I find some that I'm looking for I'm like a kid in a candy store. This last time I came I found 17 books! I've also gone there to sell books that I couldn't use in the library and with the money they gave me bought some I did need. I came in search of anime figures and I will say that the selection was VAST albeit very chaotic in its organization. Their manga selection was large and very well organized. They also have a large selection of Japanese manga too which I've not seen at other stores and was cool to see! We browsed their games and Pokemon cards as well. They had a lot of consoles and handhelds. They had a lot of dvds and blueray. Their regular book selection was extensive though I didn't look too much as it wasn't why I was there and my husband and kids were wanting to go get dinner. Overall while it was a very cool place, I feel like the pricing left a lot to be desired. Most of the manga I came across that I was interested in were priced very close to or at MSRP and the figures were disappointing bc every single one that I recognized and happened to know the going price on was significantly higher than it should be -- even super used ones that had no box were priced higher than you could get them for brand new! Normally I love coming to Book Off with my kids. However, the last couple of times I've seen a significant increase in their prices. Normally my kids manga books were 6.99, then they went up to 8.99. Today they were $11, normal price of the book was $13. For a used book this isn't what the price should be. I brought up their price increases and was told that they can fluctuate. I think they should just call it what it is, they increased their prices. I also brought in a box of graphic novels and fiction books to sell. For over 20 books I got a little over $8, which I know they will turn around and sell at a higher price especially since they raised their prices. THIS PLACE ISN'T JUST FOR BOOKS!! (5 stars) Buy and Sell kind of place. Simplifying my life and found an unpacked box from SF from years ago in my garage storage. Opened it and it was a box of old books and dvds. I was planning to donate everything at the closest Salvation Army but something told me to try and sell it first. When I searched online this place came up first. I called and they told me to come on it. Location can be tough depending the time of day and day. It's in one of the Convoy Plazas and although there is a parking lot, we all know trying to secure any parking in Convoy is ridic. The minute you walk in, it's overwhelming with THINGS. Figurines, games, books, movies, etc. rows and rows of them. The staff are friendly and very quick to help get you In and out. I dropped off my box and they said 20 minutes. I stayed in the store and looked around. 20 minutes later I got a text and was told I get $27.93. I'll take any dollar over no dollar! Picked up my cash and I was on my way. BUT THE STORE... has so much to offer if you are into anime, video games, music records, and books. A lot of used stuff that are in very good shape. They even sell used vintage GameBoy games and I saw one for $119. Very cool to see. Worth a stop in to just browse. But yes to selling old books and dvds and whatever. read more

Didn't know this place existed next to mitsuwa! It is buy and sell allll kinds of things not just books. CDs, cassettes, character goods, $1 books, Japanese books, games, legos, so many things! Just be aware that not everything is a deal breaker- some of the games and legos were pricier than buying new! We did find some cute Japanese books though and I got the kids some new kanji workbooks. I thought my family should've brought my old books they donated here but then they said they offer between 5-70 cents depending on the book so... I guess it's not nothing but it would've also been a lot of effort to get it sorted! read more

Pricing is an absolute scam. I'm going to talk exclusively about Gunpla, as I understand the market for the kits. For a kit that is CURRENTLY being sold on P-Bandai's site for $75, they are charging $120. This pattern repeats all throughout their inventory. Kits that are $60-70 retail they are charging 2-3x the price for. A regular Gundam Barbatos kit with an MSRP of $64 had a $140 price tag on it, a kit that is seeing a reprint this quarter. The only people buying their kits here are either grossly misinformed or incredibly impatient. read more

One of my favorite places to go on a day off is a book store. I wanted to fill my home library with some books, so decided to see what BookOff had. I was sorely disappointed by how they marked their prices - it's more than a new book on Amazon? If they don't start pricing things correctly, they're going to be the next Blockbuster because this is exactly what happened - they got overtaken by streaming services & still priced things inadequately (they were unwilling to change). I strongly suggest they develop better pricing strategies because I found myself just ordering everything off Amazon instead, with multiple used book purchases through Mercari or Pango rather than purchasing here. It's just really stupid how they priced severely damaged books? The books I'm showing in the photos are actually very damaged & used with multiple scratch marks, so $5.50 for them still seems quite ridiculous to me, considering they might have been bought off someone else for $1 or a couple cents. If they need to purchase books off people & price them correctly, maybe offer a drop off donation book service instead so they can still profit because I have no clue who is dumb enough to buy for these prices & if buyers want immediate physical copies - they can buy new ones from B&N or Target which is literally down a block? This place is an amazing treasure trove and remarkably organized! I have been here several times for movies and books. Even though all our streaming devices have lots of shows, there are those rare moments you need a gem from your memory bank and this is the place to go. Recently my 20 year old daughter couldn't get an old memory out of her mind regarding a Barbie movie from her childhood. Before sending her back to college, what a treat it was to be able to call the store, ask if they had the movie, and go pick it up. While there I went through their very well alphabetized movie list and found a few other gems. Next week I'm heading out to Vegas to be poolside and will need some books. I do t want to deal with the library, so this will be a great place to get books super cheap and then drop them off in a neighborhood book drop box. Every time I've gone the staff have been efficient and friendly. The patrons range from thrift shopping teens, to nerds on the hunt for a game finds, and everyone in between. It is a good environment in what seems like could be a Sanford and Son type experience. It is so very well organized and they k ow their inventory, which is remarkable for a place like this. Last shot out, I have had a VHS recording of Elmos holiday for decades now. Every store like this I have been too I have searched and never found it. This trip, walla, it was there. This place is amazing... I told myself I'd stop buying BlueRays but this place has inexpensive used dvds I couldn't resist. They have books, blue rays, dvd, lots of anime, and figurines. I picked up five blue rays and a book on my first visit. I was disappointed that the value you get only $.10 or so for selling back your dvds. Which is nothing. They do give you 30 days to return in the event the devs are damaged. Luckily I had no issues with mine. Unfortunately they don't keep inventory of books on hand but sure you'll find good read. It's good to go with an idea/ list otherwise you could be there awhile. Will definitely be back for more dvds and books. read more

Went to sell a few DVDs and Blu-rays. Wasn't expecting a lot but one of the DVDs that was turned away was because the hard case had a crack. Insert and dvd were brand new (opened to check the actual disc and make sure it was okay previously) and the dvd goes for $20.00 and isn't easy to find. I've seen some of their inventory look worse than the dvd in question but they said they wouldn't accept it. I feel like I've been turned away more and more every time I go here. This was my last hurrah. Decided not to sell any of them because the one turned away would've gotten the most for a single dvd/bluray I brought. read more
