Since that time they have been offering patients and their families in Martin and St Lucie counties services related to end of life care by a team of physicians, nurses, nursing assistant, social workers, and chaplains. To fund their mission, Treasure Coast Hospice operates a thrift store in Stuart which I have previously reviewed and this newer location in Port St Lucie. The store is located in a strip mall. It is one large room with racks of clothing, small pieces of furniture, household goods, collectibles, holiday items, books, small appliances, jewelry, and accessories. Everything was neat, clean, and attractively arranged. Prices were very fair and they had an additional sale on green tag clothes which were an additional 50 percent off, 50 percent off shoes, and 20 percent off pictures. If you were lucky enough to find a yellow tag clothing item, they were only $1. They had some other sales as well so that almost everything in the store was additionally discounted. I really wish I had the room for the watermelon serving dish. I also loved the little doggie creamer. They had a lot of vintage items which also caught my eye. This is a great organization which you can come out and support by shopping their stores and donating to them. Also you can help save the planet by keeping items out of the landfill. Thrifting can do a community a lot of good.

The items were then given to the people who worked on them or were resold. Goodwill's philosophy is "a hand up, not a hand out". Today Goodwill has become a $5 billion nonprofit organization that provides job training, employment, and community programs for people who have disabilities that might prevent them from getting a job on their own. This Goodwill store is located in LaBelle. There are different extra discount days posted on the outside window. Inside the store are two rooms of used and new clothes, household goods, accessories, toys, art, and misc. I always like checking out the bric-a-brac. There were a number of new items here including inexpensive 2 for $1 party supplies, sheets, candles, and clothing and accessories. This store has a tiny furniture section but they sell new mattresses. There is a community outreach center right in the store. It is nice to know that this store is providing jobs and that the money raised here is helping the community.

The prices on the stuff I did check out were on the high side. They had toys, drugstore items, books, clothing, home goods, and a little bit of everything. The had several Day of Dead decorations and a cute snacklebox but those items didn't have prices. There is an adjacent antique store, Barn Door Antiques. I don't know if it is the same business or two separate businesses? I think they also buy gold? There is a lot going on here. In any case I didn't go over to the antique store. Amelia's Thriftique was a miss for me today but if you are feeling adventurous you may want to check them out.

She still managed to communicate to me that they were having a 50 percent off sale on furniture and clothes were buy one get one free. They had a small selection of furniture, home goods, toys, art, small appliances, books, clothing, and accessories. It is tight in here but it is worth the time to really look around. You may find a treasure or two among the fairly priced items. Instead of adding to the landfills consider shopping and donating here. You can save money and give new life to gently used items.

Not the Salvation Army you are used to, more of a mash-up between a high-end…read moreconsignment store (but without the consignment aspect) and a Junior League resale, this store has excellent furniture, homewares, decor, and apparel. Name brands from all of the best department and upscale stores: Saks, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Lilly Pulitzer, St. John. There is smaller store in the shopping mall to the east that has a more traditional thrift layout and more run of the mill merchandise. Prices: commensurate with the high dollar value of the items for sale. No real "bargains" here, but you will pay about 50% to 80% less for these items. Case in point, a St. John beaded knit dress for $90 that likely originally retailed for $500 or more. The rich old people of Naples have to kick the bucket some time, and it looks like a lot of their stuff ends up here. This would be a frequent haunt of mine if I lived in the area just for browsing alone! Note: if you look hard enough, you can find some exquisite vintage clothing and a few nice pieces of Danish MCM furniture. And an Enchanted Tiki Room-themed display.
