I left after browsing when I saw the cashier being rude & racist towards a customer at the register

I love the Goodwill and have found some good items here. new chair. tools, made in USA pure wool and cashmere jackets. I have donated some good stuff like guitar amps and furniture. Sometime they go to a central distribution. I saw one guy get in line with a bar stool. Then the other customers told him there are more matching the bar stool in the back so he got 4 like new leather bar stools. so it is a good vibe. read more

Goodwill Donation Center & Store - My perfect find. - Thrift Stores Near Me - Wilmington, North Carolina

This was a horrible experience. We were all excited to go visit and shop at this Goodwill. The parking lot was full, and more cars were pulling in, so we parked across the street. Not a problem. The store itself was a mess! The pricing was scribbled on the bottom of the home goods and impossible/hard to read. The pots and pans really should be placed in recycling. I couldn't find anything that looked like you would want to buy, bring home and cook with. The coatings were worn, bottoms were burned and handles weren't good. The shelves were completely disorganized and dirty in appearance. There are lots of clothing racks and there are huge piles of clothes on tabletops in heaps, which you would have to look through. They seem to have a large variety of clothes, VCR tapes, albums, and shoes. We didn't stay long. read more

I'm not terribly fond of this particular Goodwill location, but I always score here, even when I'm not looking. Two weeks ago I found a pair of 18 karat gold Van Cleef dangling earrings with two princess cut diamonds on each bale. They were two dollars. The only stuff I mess with at this location, because it's so disorganized, our the art, sometimes the shoes, dresses, jewelry and HomeGoods. Everything else is a disaster pile. Bring a bag because they don't have them unless you pay for them. And bring your headphones because you're gonna be online for a while. read more

This is one of my favorite stops in Wilmington to thrift. They have a decent selection of clothes, home goods, books etc and everything is pretty organized and neat. I also feel the area it is in, gets some pretty good finds. read more

People were right about this place the store smells like urine and I felt really dirty trying to sift through some of the clothing bins because just seemed like there could be bugs in there and other things. I did find a cool men's button down shirt made in India and that was $4.15 so the prices are not as cheap as they used to be. I won't return! read more

Oh my I'm just speechless standing here. First I enjoy coming to thrift stores, however this one here takes the cake . Smells like urine perhaps it may be some of the clothes not sure. The lines are extremely long with 16 or so just standing. One person at the register bless their heart. People walking out it's a mess. I do hope that they will reach out for help at the registers. Moving forward the store is not organized at all and I've been in many Goodwill stores. Clothes are just placed everywhere and even clothes that have large stains which should not even be on the floor to sell. Whomever is over this particular store really need to take a few days to clean, mop etc the store to make it more welcoming and enjoyable to shop. Also, some of the clothing still have the tags on the clothes brought in. Lastly the employee there this particular day should get an award for being calm and professional even when customers were making it known that they weren't happy. read more

I have been to alot of Goodwills around the country. and also have donated a huge about to these stores. I will no longer donate to the wilmington stores. understaffed, dirty. clothing racks to packed. Get rid of the bins other than for pillows. and replace with garment racks. These bins never get sorted full of all kinds of junk. lots of clothes are soiled or torn and should go the the rag business. Pants should be hung by the loops so buyers can see the size. go check out Salvation Army on Oleander for a store that is run properly. I understand the pay is pretty good at good will so there is no excuse on the mess these stores are run by. CLEAN IT UP. DONATORS' DO NOT DESERVE THIS DISRESPECT! read more

I haven't shopped here.. but donating was simple and it was very clean and very organized.

Beautiful building, large parking lot, and convenient area of town. Tiny to no furniture selection, large bins of unorganized clothing varieties, and hard to find staff members to inquire with. I've had some great experiences with Goodwill in the past and came here to drop off a donation and look for some furniture options. They had about 2 items, no joke, in the back right corner of the store which kids were jumping on and looked all tattered and beat up. The store was pretty un-clean and had clothes all over the floor and just kind of randomly everywhere. It definitely could have been an off day but there weren't but a few customers in the store at the time. When I've dropped off with Goodwill booths and centers in the past they've immediately thanked me, offered to help me unload, and asked if I needed a receipt. This time I grabbed my bags and walked into the drop off center area, dropped things in the donation carts that were packed to the brim and waited for the girls behind the door to come out.. but they continued their conversations so I just left. Moral of the review, not the greatest Goodwill I've ever been to and I wouldn't recommend. read more

UPDATE- 2/27/2020 I went back to give this store a second chance and the awful customer service did not disappoint! I spent a good 30 min picking out clothes that I wanted to purchase when the woman (who I'm fairly certain is the manager) came storming out of the back room yelling at everyone to leave immediately, that they were closing at 9:30 AM on a Thursday!! She would not let us pay for our items that we searched for. She just told us to leave with no explanation. She then locked the doors behind us. Incredibly frustrated. I definitely will not be coming back here ever again. And I highly recommend others to take their business and donations else where. This Goodwill is awful. I really expected it to be nice because of the area it is in but some of the employees who work there are down right rude. There is one woman who I'm assuming is the manager seems miserable. She scolded an employee for being friendly with a customer at the register who I overheard talking about reselling items. Also you will not find ANY items in the store New with tags, if you do they will rip them off in front of you at the register. It happened to me with two items I found that I was going to gift to my sister. When I asked that same grumpy lady why she was taking the tags off she said, "It's Goodwill policy not to sell items with tags on them because people resell them." 1. That is a lie. I've purchased new with tags items several times at many different Goodwill stores. 2. So what if people resell. Good for them! Isn't Goodwill having their items donated to them and reselling them? Aren't resellers paying full price at Goodwill for the item? I don't see the problem. They don't have carts. They don't play music, it's dead silent in there. And that women who I'm assuming is the manager puts such a horrible vibe in that store it's not worth shopping there. I'm very disappointed with the good wills in this area this store is not neat at all. Clothes throw in piles always dirty fitting rooms Salvation Army is well done good will is not books are damaged thrown all over. Good will never has a good selection besides but more the stores is not too clean. I've been too goodwills in other states or other side of NC and over here the stores are horrible and other states and other places in nc there nicer. read more

The store all in all is what you would expect from any Goodwill but It does have some flaws. First of all the prices are usually much higher at this store compared to the locations on Carolina Beach Road and Kerr Avenue. This goodwill has a tendency to price things out that should go together separately to make you pay more for the full set. Well it is their store and they can Price things however they wish it would be nice if they would try and be a little bit more consistent with the other two stores in town. Also this store has a cleanliness problem they tend to over stock the shelves to the point where items are left on the floor you have to be very careful walking around or you might trip while you were looking at some thing they also put way too many books out to the point where it is overwhelming to even try and look through them. Just in general things are very disorganized bookstore where the DVDs art glasses are where the electronics are clothes are in the toys bins etc. read more

The manager had me waiting for 25 minutes today june 22 only to tell me after having asked repetedly what is taking so long for an item to get priced. The bins are continually piled high and clothes strewn on the floor. It's obvious the donations are cherry-picked off the tops for their boutique stores and this store gets the leftovers. Nobody seems to care. Belts are hidden in the bins instead of being neatly organized like their older, better stores. The staff continually blames poor conditions on their corporate leaders and says their hands are tied. Corporate leaders tell customers, it's up to the local store. Who's telling the truth here? Recommendations made by shop personnel are ignored. When this store first opened, things seemed promising. It's in the high rent district and the conclusion is that they keep standards low to keep costs low. I spend as little time in this store as possible. read more

Terrible customer service. Store closes at 6 and we arrived at 5:50 with a load of donations. We live 2.5 hours away and even called to let them know we were otw. It didn't matter. They lock the doors 10 minutes early. No exceptions. We will take our business elsewhere in the future. read more

I go here to get new books because of how cheap they are. As i am scanning the shelves a worker shoved past me mumbling excuse me, keep in mind this is during COVID and workers are supposed to be following social distance guidelines. Not to mention her mask was so huge on her face it was practically hanging off, therefore not doing it's job to protect people. Proceeding to scan the shelves another worker yells at me that the store is now closed. Keep in mind it is 6 minutes until the store is supposed to be closing. Thinking she was talking to a person trying to enter i go back to looking. She yells at me again so i make my way to the register. I ask about the price of something and tells me that the price is on it when it was not. She then says she can't go look because the store is closed and we can not be shopping still. Once again it is still 5 minutes till the posted closing times. Not to mention when entering the store i was shouted at by a women who worked there that i was not allowed to bring my drink in, which i thought was reasonable but not handled correctly. Im incredibly unpleased with the experience and think the workers should take some notes on being respectful towards their customers. read more
