We visit this store often for those hidden gems at a great price and today was no exception. I purchased a golf carry bag that works great when traveling off island for a third of the price. There was also a fantastic Kate Spade purse and a great hard cover book from John Grisham. The people who work there are awesome and the place is clean and well organized and maintained. And the most important thing is the funds help our community! It's a win-win. In the picture below explains where the money goes and how it is used. Reuse...recycle...reality As we all go through phases so does some of our items and as much as I don't want to part with any of them it does make room for a much more calmer space. Here at Goodwill I know it will go to good and though I'm not fully aware of the exact process but it will go to a good home versus the trash. The power to reuse item does help support the community in so many ways places like these are resources for some that I've known in the past. It's amazing the amount of items I do find here not just clothing, bags, sporting goods and CD's but a walker for someone in need or a chair just to sit on you never how the level of appreciation a single item can bring and I appreciate the care it shows here. Pretty underrated Goodwill, IMO. I've done enough shopping to know when it's in Target, give it two months and it should end up at Ross or goodwill at a much cheaper price. But, I guess with overconsumption happening and companies trying to capitalize on whatever they can mass produce, I've noticed that timeline go from two months to one month with my very eyes at this goodwill. All summer, Target was pushing all kinds of random summer stuff in Bullseye's playground. I didn't want any of it, and neither did the general public it seems, BUT the organization containers looked well worth it. I bought some for Target's price, but could you believe my shock to see the same drawers I bought a month later to end up at this goodwill for half price?! I didn't feel like I wasted money, because I'm using the drawers now, but I do wish I SAVED money just waiting a month...and this is the second time this has happened! Trust me when I say this, if it's at Target, wait for it for a month or two to end up at Ross or Goodwill for cheaper! And this goodwill has a good Target supplier. Other than that, the employees are nice, the store is clean (it's the stuff people donated that needs cleaning), and the selections change up every week! They also have a good amount of military surrounding the area so it's more than likely during PCS season for some great gently used household goods and clothes and furniture! Thrift Shopping in Aiea, O'ahu, Hawaii... One person's trash is another person's treasure! Since I was on this side of the island, I decided to take a look at the Goodwill store. Located at the front left of the Harbor Center entrance, Goodwill is visible from Kamehameha Highway. This is one of the larger Goodwill stores. It's a warehouse type of environment with high ceilings and fluorescent lighting. The 50% items are indicated by a specific color. The color changes every Monday. Also, there are $1.99 items (last chance) and the tag color is different from the 50% items. I've been lucky and have found designer dresses for $10 and even $5. This time, I found a Christmas dove to place on the wreath at my mom's house. Note: Mom was looking for red birds at Ben Franklin, but wasn't able to find any. I thought that this might be a good substitute. Anyway, you can join the Rewards Program with your phone number and get more discounts with each purchase! It's for a good cause! I like Goodwill and all they do. I'm troubled by the attitude of the people collecting the donations. They seem angry and upset. No smiles. No thank you. It's almost like they're doing the people donating items a favor by accepting the donations. I'm almost to the point of just throwing the stuff away instead of wasting my time and gas to drop off items. It's unfortunate because Goodwill is a good and worthwhile organization. read more

So far this is the best Goodwill I've gone to on Oahu. I support buying used when you can, yes I am looking for a deal, however there are many items going into land fields that are perfectly useable. We have purchased part of our wall art from Goodwill. Prints matted and framed. We have even discovered a number of the pieces were worth a great deal more than what we paid. 2 at $16 listed on line at 2 for $300. We have purchased anything from walker, puzzles, houseware, clothing, decorations, blow dryer, etc. When we have specific needs we will travel the extra miles to this location. Been here twice. Both times we were rushed out because they were closing "soon." They wouldn't let up try on clothes because they were closing in 20 minutes. They were actually closing in 40 minutes from when we were denied. The worker offered us an alternative reason why there was an execution to the 20 minute no try on rule. She told us they just wanted everyone out. Some good finds. Some not. It's the goodwill. read more

If you are a felon don't bother on applying. I was interviewed last Monday, got hired on the spot by the manager carol. Signed w2 and other forms. Gave them a call on Wednesday to follow up, was told that they were still processing my papers. Finally got a call back from goodwill l, they told me that I don't qualify for the cashier position. They got me excited to start working for nothing. I didn't lie during my interview I actually told the manager that I'm a felon and she told me "it's alright, it's all about second chances". Carol hired me on the spot because of my potential and qualifications. Kinda like oops I take that back... we don't want you cause of your criminal background check, crime I did 12 years ago. I ask for a copy of my background check but was told they don't have it. In conclusion if you are a felon who is trying to better yourself and do good. 27 November 2020 Downsizing continues! I thought I already wrote a review from a previous visit but, I guess I did not so, here it is. I have been meaning to get rid of a lot of items I no longer use. I typically try to donate items I have not worn in 3-6 months; I consider myself a semi-minimalist so it's not like I buy an excessive amount of clothes to begin with. Although this year has been a bit of an anomaly and I have not been out much to need 'outside clothes', I think it is especially necessary now. Maybe my donated items can be more useful to someone else at a low cost or will just be good enough for textile recycling (the last resting place for clothes if Goodwill is unable to sell them). Both my mother and I boxed up a lot of clothes and shoes that we have not worn and took them to Goodwill. I guess the employees (or are they volunteers?!?) there will sort items and determine what is in good enough condition to sell at the adjoining story and what goes tp other Goodwill locations on the island. Speaking of employees, every time I have gone, they just give me a hand wave indicating "just leave it there"! No other form of acknowledgement! Has this been everyone else's experience? I understand they are busy but gawd! Anyway, whenever the donation center is open, it looks like complete chaos. There are a ton of bins out front of the store and boxes, bags, and other containers of assumingly donated items that are stacked up out front. It is a bit of a nightmare considering the parking lot is so small and always busy. It is often a challenge to navigate the parking lot. On this particular visit, there was a Goodwill truck being loaded with palletized items. The truck added further obstruction to traffic in the parking lot. I cannot speak to the condition of the store since I have never been inside so this review and the rating is strictly for the donation center and the parking situation. read more

OPEN HOURS: 10am - 6pm Monday - Sunday DONATION HOURS: 9am-5pm Daily Goodwill has multiple locations on Oahu but this review is for their Pearl City facility. I've been going to this Goodwill for many years to shop and to donate my items. I enjoy thrifting and bargain shopping so I drop a visit when ever I can. They're located between Best Buy and Cutter Ford in Pearl City and easy to find. You can see the store front from the main road. Parking can be tight but there's usually plenty of stalls available. They share the parking lot with the customers of other stores in the same area so it can get crowded. Entrance to the store is the door on the right and the garage doors on the left is where you go to donate items. Once you enter, there's a table with hand sanitizer, restrooms to the immediate left and snack machines to the immediate right. Your cash registers and customer service counter lines the left wall and there's plenty of organized clothes racks everywhere. Women's clothing are directly in the front and go all the way to the back wall. Children and men's clothing are to the right side of the building. Accessories, purses, belts, shoes and dressing rooms are on the right side farther in the store. Dressing rooms are finally open for use but were closed for a while due to covid. On the left in the back corner, you'll find housewares, furniture, kitchen and office items, decorations, toys, travel luggage and more. Prices range depending on the type of item it is. They don't put actual prices on the clothing tags anymore and posts signs everywhere that show you prices of each type. For example in the women's section, lingerie/sleep wear costs $4.99 each, pants are $6.99 a pair, dresses and outerwear are $9.99 each and so on. You'll find housewares, furniture, supplies, etc. with price tags on them and range between $1.99 - $50+. Also, pay attention to the announcements made on the speakers for other discounts or upcoming events. Discounts are dependent on what color is chosen for that day and posted on the signs above the clothing racks. You can gain between 20-50% off each item with that discount color. Every Monday is $1.99 sales for certain tag colors that rotate each week. In the past, they've offered 20% off your whole bill for seniors on Tuesdays, Military on Wednesdays and Students on Sundays but I'm not sure if that's still valid at this location. I didn't see any signs advertising these discounts anymore but other locations still do have these discounts. Ask an associate to confirm. If you become a program member, you can earn points with every purchase that can count as discounts for future purchases so take advantage of that if you're a regular shopper. My overall rating for this store is ok. I love the variety they carry and I can always find office clothes for work in great condition or cool decorations for my desk and for the holidays. The prices are alright but some items can be priced over their original value which sucks but that's business I guess. The organization of the store is great and everything is easy to find. Some of the houseware item shelves are a bit messy though and could use regular clean ups. Majority of the items they put out on the shelves are in good condition. There are a few items I've found that were brand new with original tag still attached too. The cleanliness isn't the greatest but it's a thrift store and people drop off old and dusty items all the time so if you have bad allergies, I wouldn't come here because I do feel like I have to shower after shopping. I always douse my hands in hand sanitizer when I'm done and wash clothing items I buy immediately when I get home. The dressing rooms could use a good sweep since I've found hair balls, dust bunnies and clothing that have been tried on but not put away still in the stalls. Store associates are helpful when needed but I've experienced a few with a bit of attitude and the warehouse itself is warm inside. I don't think there's any AC running. They do play music and store advertisements while you shop and I still come to visit from time to time but not as often as I used to. read more

My family loves supporting charities like Goodwill. Good people doing good things. We recently visited the location in Pearl Ridge, and it was a great experience. It's a fairly large store, that is well lit and clean. Each section of the store is well marked and organized. When we went, they had lots of women's items...a really great selection of clothes and shoes. They didn't have a large selection of men's shoes, but I know that depends on what they get in. The highlight of our visit was meeting employee Kanani. She was so wonderful! Kanani was checking us out, when we told her it was our first visit. That's all it took for her to take us under her wing and show us the highlights of the store. She showed us where to look for daily specials. She showed us what to look for on each item's tag. She signed us up for the 'members club'. Our experience was great because of her and we will return because of her! read more

Five stars. While on lock down with the COVID-19 pandemic, cleaning house was the goal of the year. Cleaned out a lot of old goods, such as shoes, clothes, and stuff around the house. Basically, Kon-Mari'ed the house. Figured to hit Goodwill on a Saturday, but forgot it was the day businesses reopened and boy, it was a long line. Getting there was a chore on Kamehameha Highway due to the construction into one lane, and waiting in a congested parking lot was not really fun. BUT, to clean the house and contribute to a good cause overcame all. Dropping off the bags of goods really made me feel good to clean up. The man at Goodwill was friendly and helpful. Even got a paper for tax time with all the items donated to Goodwill. Didn't go shopping inside, but only dropped off stuff. If you ever feel a need to clean up the horde at home, stop by Goodwill to drop off your goods. read more

Sadly, i'd have to agree with other fellow yelpers...Poor customer service and regular/higher retail priced items = -2 stars. Don't expect to be greeted or helped when unloading 10+ bags for donation.. I was browsing around and found a worn down cami, it was priced at $6.99. At Jeanswarehouse, it's 4.99 and Papaya 2.99 brand new unused! Who is pricing your items!? That wasn't the only item I spotted. 298 yen for HK curtains holders but sold for 2.99...garsh. Thrift shopping aka treasure hunting is supposed to be fun.. For the most part, clothes are semi categorized into women, men, and kids, down to the sizes of xs,s,m,L,xl,2x and 3x. By semi I mean that customers ran sack this place so expect to find sizes mixed up..There are aisles full of household goods and random items. My latest visit I passed a couple of workers with no interaction.. Gail rang me up and asked if I was part of the rewards program. I signed up immediately as I am currently into living a sustainable lifestyle. My mission was to find leopard printed tops and baby items. I found some baby clothes that were a bit pricey to be sold at Goodwill.. Luckily certain colored tags had an additional discount that day. I stopped by to drop off some items for donation because I had it sitting at home for over a month. I normally go to the Salvation Army, but there was none near to my house. They have an enormous warehouse here with lots of donations! It's great to see the amount of people that donate rather than throw away perfectly usable things. I should have taken a picture of some of the questionable things I saw though, but at the time, I was just too baffled. First of all, I feel that some of the items are way over priced, for things that they are pretty much getting for free! Here's just a few things I disagreed with: - A half used bottle of Dove lotion for $3! That's not only disgusting, but very unsanitary. - A Woolworth photo frame for $3. It still had the original price on it, which was $2.50! - and things from target dollar section, being sold for the same price target was selling it for? Hmmm... Anyway, just my thoughts. I came here with hubby before picking up our daughter from school. Parking was limited and luckily we found a spot close. As I entered, I didn't like the fact that there was no air conditioning. I literally almost passed out from sweating without my hydro flask. I always bring it to work because I do sweat and get dehydrated but they do turn on the ac much later as the morning gets warm. This is unacceptable. I can't survive in that much heat and humidity. Second issue was the quality of clothing. I typically don't shop for clothing at a second hand store just because I noticed oil stains and holes in some of the clothing. Hubby scored some clothing for our daughter mostly jeans and a sweatshirt. I still rather buy a few clothing items at Savers. I don't typically hit up second hand stores but when I do, I consider the quality of the clothes and if there's ac and people do end up passing out of extreme heat and if one is not hydrated, the body can go into dehydration mode. Went to drop off some donations a couple days ago and holy moly! They are overflowing with them! Even as we were getting in to drop off, there's a line of cars forming to get theirs in too. I guess everyone has more time on their hands and cleaning/purging is on the list. I'm glad they are open now to accept, but I feel so bad for them having to deal with all of it at once. I have only been in the store once or twice. I remember I got my white high shool graduation dress here. I never wear white and I never wore dresses back then. It was the perfect solution to purchase 2nd hand and very inexpensive. That is the only time I've ever purchased anything here. I strictly donate. The last thing I need is to be roaming around a store where I could potentially repurchase items I've given away! Lol! And also in general I don't care to shop at thrift stores... I love the idea of the R's, reduce, repurpose, reuse, etc... Its just that I grew up an "only child" so I don't share and I don't use other peoples things. I do believe in picking up others "vibes", if you will. I really don't have the time nor patience to sage EVERYTHING, more than I already do! I know, its crazy. Things that are given by people with bad intentions are definitely trashed or saged to all heck!!! So, now that that's out there, I do not and will not shop here or at any other Goodwill for that matter. I will definitely continue to donate though. The location is alright, its the parking lot that can be weird. If the lot is full, there is no real area to turn around. I normally drop off my donations at Savers in Kalihi, however I was on standby for work and did not want to drive into town. I had about 7 bags of very good condition items (some with tags still on) that I dropped off. Parking is really easy to find but that is unfortunately where the pleasantness ended. The man in charge of receiving donations is extremely rude. I parked my car and wanted to ask where to drop my donations off and he proceeded to hold his hand up to my face and told me to wait. Ok whatever, you're busy and I get it. Finally he bust out his receipt book and asked how many things I dropped off. I told him that I still had my items in my car and wanted to know where the best place to put them where and he just pointed around and said wherever. I'm all for helping out the less fortunate, but this guy does not represent the goodness that Goodwill is about. They should seriously take some customer service lessons from Savers who actually appreciate any donation you bring in without any attitude at all. Not to mention that I browsed around for maybe two minutes and I had to leave. The store is very dirty and I was starting to get dust mite bites. You also get a 20% coupon for dropping off a donation but it's only good for 2 weeks. Savers coupons are good for the rest of the year. I have to remind myself to read my own reviews before returning to stores again. read more

The parking lot can be somewhat of a challenge to navigate because there is only one way in and out with a lot of businesses surrounding the store. The store is big inside and well organized. The prices are a bit higher than what I expected, but they do offer 20% off discount days for Seniors (Tuesdays), Military who have a valid ID (Wednesdays), and students with a valid college ID (Sundays). I was charged $3.99 each for boys underwear! Didn't notice until I got all the way home. I was visiting from San Diego. I goto this Goodwill store quite a bit to buy things as I love to thrift alot. One day i noticed a person not wearing a mask and I went to an employee and they said that was the Manager of the store so she doesnt have to wear a mask. Hmmmm, I got to think, wow what an example the store manager puts on for their employees by choosing not to wear a mask because they are the store manager. I have been in numerous times and seen the Manager not wearing her mask when dealing with customers whom all have their mask on. Parking sucks, the staff only seems to be there to either stock the shelves or man the register, don't expect any assistance with anything. I love to rummage through gift-shops, but in 4 years of stopping by here, have yet to find anything worth buying. Judging by the amount of stuff people donate, they should have a mountain of pickings, but when I go inside, all I find is ugly shirts and shoes, and damaged furniture from Target (but not at Goodwill prices). I actually decided to just not waste time here anymore. What do they do with all the stuff people drop off? Sell it online? Do the workers get first dibs? Now that we're allowed to get out and go, the shopping bug within me was fully biting. Not to say that I haven't been helping stimulate the US's economy (even though I still haven't received a stimulus check ). Lord knows they know me on Mercari and Amazon, but I digress. Since Ross wasn't open, the next best place for me to go to possibly find everything in one place was Goodwill. I was grabbing footage for my podcast and YouTube channel, which Kapolei had zero problem with. Pearl City on the other hand was another story. From the door they expressed displeasure in my recording even telling me not to take pictures. Regardless, I put my equipment away and began my thrifting. Their layout is very large and very spacious. They have rows and rows of everything from houseware to hats. It truly amazes me what you're able to come across under one roof. The prices were on par with those of Waipahu but more expenses then Kapolei. With volume comes variety so you can find either exactly what you set out to find or something that you never knew you needed. And anytime you go somewhere so large you give yourself the best chance to trip over something amazing. So save for the inexperienced customer service when it came to addressing media restrictions, always a good stop. Especially if you have time to thumb through stuff. read more

Went to go donate some items and had the WORST experience ever. As I was unloading the car there were two workers a male and female. The male worker was assisting with my items and then the female worker goes, "there's a smell, there's a smell." The male worker smelt the packages I had and said the items were fine. The female worker proceeded with her comments about the smell and stated how the smell wasn't there before I had arrived. The male worker told her it wasn't me or my items. She wouldn't stop complaining and I didn't appreciate her accusations. I understand that sometimes they receive items that may be more "well used" than they'd like. However once her coworker confirmed the items was fine she should have stopped. Next time I'll take my donation elsewhere. I'm very disappointed by the experience I had here. read more

When people stereotype thrift stores as being dirty and filled with junk, this is the type of place they're talking about. I'm not saying that in a bad way; I enjoy this store and location, you're sure to find a treasure! Just be warned it isn't a brightly lit modern facility like other large thrift shops on the island. Along Kamehameha Highway in Aiea, it's a very commercial area filled with old buildings and warehouses. Goodwill is accessible heading either direction. Parking is free and outside, but it can be busy and cramped with all the people dropping off donations. The store entrance is at the front with cash registers immediately inside. The movies, collectibles, video games, and jewelry are kept at the case at the front. It is here I usually find my treasures as the sorters know what the good stuff is. Toys and children's clothing are in the next room, with brighter lighting. The main floor has the adult clothing, shoes along the back wall, and all the rest (home goods, records, furniture, kitchen, etc.) in the other part of the room at the back left. Fitting rooms and books are along the left wall as well. Prices here are typically good, some things are priced higher than they should be. Staff is always friendly and often has multiple registers open. Be sure to take note of the color of the day for sales. read more

We haven't been here for awhile, so when we came in today, I was surprised how everything was renovated, wayyyyy better! I also liked the dressing room. I have never used their dressing room in the past because it was dirty. Now that they had renovated their store, I used their dressing room! I also love the fact that they have more selection on houseware/housegood/stationary etc. Halloween is coming soon, and I was very happy to find a NEW teenage mutant ninja turtle costume for my son that he's been wanting for halloween. And it was way cheaper than Walmart. In the toy section, I also found a toy that my son been wanting that no longer in stores because its an old item. Was suppose to order it online for xmas buy found the toy he wanted. Missing a couple accessories, but it was in mint condition & a good price. I normally dont buy clothes from their because their size was all over their place, even though theirs a divider. I actually bought 2 clothes! Cons: Browsing through their clothes & bags, kinda pricey for it being used/donated. They do have discounts posted for certain color tags, but still kinda pricey just because its a donated/free item to the store. Fitting rooms need to be maintained. Im pretty sure people steal in there just because I saw price tags shoved in a wall that had a hole in it. Hangers with no clothes was in it. I got asked if I had a point card. I said no, and the cashier proceeded to ring up my item. I was curious to know what it was so I had to ask what it is. He just said whenever you make a purchase you get a point. Then I had to ask what does the point do? He just says you can use them. Umm ok....So I just thought to myself its a point rewards card like walgreens since I didnt want to keep asking. Definitely they need to train their employees telling the basic about the card and especially suggesting them to apply if they dont have one, because I do plan on coming here when im in the area since I live in town Overally I gave them 4stars because the store looks way better, but 4 stars instead of 5 because most of their clothes/bags is overally priced, they you can find the same amount *new* in other stores. read more
