One of the better Goodwill locations, the prices are fair (after considering it's a charitable organization). We love to locate these places because it's a win-win. Whether we're looking for clothes, dishes, housewares or even seasonal items; buying gently used benefits the charity and usually there's a break in the price from brand new. This location is clean enough and well organized. It's well stocked with items and again, most of the prices are fair. All the workers are friendly and most were understood. The children's book area was lacking with a selection of younger kids books, the staff was sparse and the lady at the front was not super charming. The prices weren't bad. I mean going into Goodwill like any thrift store you got to take a grain of salt If you're expecting great customer service, however, I recently tried to donate two items that I had cleaned and that were complete. They were not banned items or anything like that, but the person receiving them who I think might have been partially blind,felt them with his hands, and said he was not going to take because they were "dirty" and he did it with an attitude. I don't think I'm ever going to buy anything or donate to them again if that's how they're going to operate. Maybe they shouldn't have someone that's partially blind taking an items? Should change the name to GREEDwill. Their prices are RIDICULOUS. I mean really people shop at thrift stores to save money and get a deal and I've never left here feeling good, only cheated. I can't even tell you the number of dollar store items they have priced for 2.99. I found some Christmas decorations today that were a bit worn, but you could see their original price tags, which the store tried to scratch off and which said 3.99 and the item was priced at 6.99. My toddler found two small dinosaur toys and really wanted them and they wanted $4 each so I had to make him put one back and he was crying but they don't barter or budge on their sky high prices at all. DON'T DONATE HERE PEOPLE! There are other thrift stores with really great causes like SPCA or Thrift Depot. Goodwill just robs poor people. read more

Came here to donate twice in the last month. The employee's were lazy and super rude. Told me that next time I donate I need to sort everything because otherwise they have to sort it all (pretty sure that's their job??). Will not donate here again. Went to Catholic Charities today, they were extremely kind and grateful, plus everything they sell in their thrift stores, goes back into the community. read more

Horrible service. Overpriced. There were items in the store with original retail price still on & this store priced the item over the original price. lol There was a small sauce pan that was priced at $3.22. When I brought it up to ring up, the cashier rang me up for $3.99. I know it's not a big difference. But, it's the principle. She said that's not their typo pricing & would not honor the price. I spoke to a mgr. He was not only unapologetic about the discrepancy, but would not take responsibility for the error. He said, "I'm sure our employees did not make that pricing error. This goodwill is okay, I can usually find a thing or two that I'm looking for but it's pretty disorganized. The prices are also pretty expensive for used items. I was looking for a dress shirt and they were priced at $10-$16, which could get me a new shirt elsewhere. Especially considering all of the stuff they sell is donated for free. The staff can be a hit or miss. I asked an employee who was putting things away if they could help me get into a dressing room as she had keys with her. She rudely told me to go up front and ask someone at the register. However there was only one girl working the registers all by herself with a line of 10+ people. I know everywhere is hurting for staff right now but they seem to really be low. read more

This location is hit or miss for me. I personally won't come here alone due to the neighborhood and people that haggle in the parking lot as it makes me extremely uncomfortable. The store itself is quite large, but dirty. Staff are usually pretty friendly which is nice. Everything is fairly organized and priced decently. The furniture is hit or miss - sometimes in excellent condition and in other times I find myself wondering why it isn't on the bargain bin side next door. They do have a nice selection of clothing and books though. Household items are a little disorganized and messy, but you can usually find a good deal if you look hard enough. read more

OMG.. donations in the time of COVID-19.. Since my "go to" donation center in South Reno was temporarily closed, I drove to the Oddie donation center in Sparks with bag, books, and clock in hand. Not realizing that you have to line up and wait in your car in 100 degree weather, I stayed in my car, hoping my car didn't overheat while waiting in line. Caution, these folks stop taking donations at 3 pm. Yak - my next time donating will be after this COVID mess, when things may be a bit easier. Just pack up the donations, store them in a corner and try not to go back in the bag and dig everything out for those "maybe one day" items. The people working there were very nice though. I got lost a couple of times when I realized I had to drive around the building where you donate. It was way too hot for me to go in and browse and the last thing I needed to do was dump my %^&* and then buy new stuff to replace it. read more

Never been to this location before so I didn't know where the drop off was. I went in the front door of the store and was very impressed at the disinfecting they were doing and that they had a staff member right there. When I drove around the side to drop off what I was donating the setup was very efficient and very safe. The person staffing the area wore a mask and kept distance. You take the items out of your car yourself and put them in the drop off table. They had things set up so that even the cars were distanced. Thank you for doing such a great job! read more

The prices at both Goodwills in Reno on shoes are really ridiculous. Averaging $15+. Especially frustrating considering these things are donated, so comes to them free. Then if they don't sell them at the inflated price, they wind up at the Outlet store for $2 a pair. Wouldn't it be a better strategy to have them marked at a more reasonable price to begin with than the all or nothing approach they have now? They'd make lots more money and help lots more people. read more

This is my new favorite thrift! Such a hidden gem! How it works is, you walk in and its 1 person per "boat". You pay $1.25 per pound of items. They have many amazing clothing items, many new with tags and home decor items. You have to come with the right mindset and the capability/ time to treasure hunt and look through everything. If that doesn't excite you, then this probably won't be the best experience for you but give it a chance! read more

I love you guys, I really do but whoever is deciding the prices needs to have a reality check. You are WAY overpriced. You are asking brand new, retail prices for used merchandise. I can buy the exact same thing, for LESS MONEY brand new at a store. It's a frustrating experience to see items that should be under ten dollars be priced for $25 and up. Not all items but things like purses, activewear and some jewelry. It just isn't worth that much money. Dropped-off some good stuff today and one of the staff working in the back was having a pretty rough attitude. Wonder why? Anyways, I pulled up front and he asked me if I had a lot to drop off and I said, "yes" and told me, I had to wait 20 minutes because he's still busy sorting the items on the cart and all the big containers were full. Thank God didn't even take 5 minutes before he let me unload my donations. I had a bunch of sacks and 2 big suitcases filled with used clothes and some random stuff. I put it on the cart and he was like, "Open those for me! in an unfriendly manner and didn't even say please. And what pisses me off was, when he said "This is a lot of work for me Ma'am! ", right when I opened those suitcases. It's pretty clear that he doesn't like his job at all. He was complaining because I gave too much. I don't quite understand why Goodwill employs this man who doesn't even know how say "thank you" or "smile" to people dropping off donations. He should be thankful that he has a job, rather than complaining that it was a lot for him. Hey rude man, if you read this, be thankful for what you have. There are lots of people out there that are unemployed due to certain illnesses or anything that hinders them to work even if they really want to. Vesta and I have lived in Reno for going on six years now and from the very first week, we fell in love with the Bargain Bin on Oddie, next to the Goodwill Store, because it was a nice place for us to buy props and weird stuff for our photography. The place was neat and tidy, they organized everything very well, for example the men's coats would be all together on the same garment table. Baby's clothes, children's clothes, same thing. The books were in crates and multi-volumes were kept together, so if you wanted an old encyclopedia set set, you could get all the volumes. CD and Records were kept together too as was everything else. It was, like another Yelp reviewer has said here, a fun place to shop and we made friends quickly, because we'd see a lot of the same people in there. I remember these two elderly ladies who were voracious readers. They loved going through the books. Then one day the big wigs from Florida came in and told them they were doing things all wrong. They wanted this store to look like their others. Too much time was spent keeping the place clean. Too much time was spent treating the customers like people. Too much time was spent keeping everything in order. It was much easier to just throw everything onto these big blue tables and wheel them out. No need to separate anything. No need to keep lamp shades on lamps or printer cords with the printers or book volumes together and so what if everything gets broken. So that's what they did. Now they treat their customers like animals. Now the place is always filthy. Now the goods are mostly broken. And now the nice old ladies don't come in anymore. And it doesn't look like that's really working for them, because people who work there have told me they don't take in anywhere near the money they used to. Ah well, now it conforms to their other bargain stores and now it apparently reflects Goodwill's real attitude toward the goods they get for free and the customers who buy them. Like other Goodwills, if you are lucky, the local Walmart or Target has just dumped a bunch of inventory here and you can find some serious bargains. Sample: a brand new Magic Bullet for $25, regularly $50. And I'm going to be one of those jerks that will open up a taped box to make sure, "as is" or not, that it's got all its working bits attached. This store, out of all the thrift stores I frequent, actually has the nicest selection of new and used furniture I've seen. I come here whenever I need something for camping or Burning Man - the selection and prices are actually pretty good. And why pay full price for something that's just going to get used a handful of times or get dirty / destroyed / set on fire? read more

Use to be good. Pricing manager needs to be fired! How stingy are goodwills in Nevada! In Arizona they are every Sunday 50% off and every week they email you a 20% off purchase coupon. On the registers it says best prices best stuff, that couldn't be further from the truth! You are ripping off locals from locals donations! Shame on you! I've never been to a Goodwill Outlet and had no idea what was going to happen while visiting the store. I watched other people and saw plenty of people standing waiting for blue bins to be pushed out from the back stock room and then people literally went crazy and starting grabbing whatever they can get their hands on and discard whatever they deem worthless. It was very entertaining to watch. It's was $1.49 per pound for clothes and glassware was 49 cents per pound. Shoes I think were $2 per pair. Not sure what the other prices were. If, you want to come by here bring a pair of gloves, hand sanitizer, shopping bags (carts are not always available), and a mask if you have allergies. I spend a lot of time in thrift stores in Seattle, and especially Goodwill, so I wondered how Goodwill in Reno would stack up by comparison. The verdict: a really big store with tons of inventory, but not very organized or tidy, and ridiculously long lines. As you may be able to tell from the pictures, this is a really big store! There are tons of long aisles of clothing racks toward the front half of the store, and shelves of housewares, art, and other home stuff at the back. The huge selection means there's plenty to choose from if you're costume shopping or not looking for anything in particular, but it can also be kind of overwhelming. The store looked fairly messy on the day we were there, with stuff on the floor and clothing tossed over the racks, etc., and it didn't smell that great. There were also crazy lines at the register -- like 20 people waiting in line. So both of these problems may have been because they were extremely short-staffed that day or something, but still, it made for a less pleasant experience. I almost didn't buy my items because I didn't want to get in that huge line and make my friends wait. As another reviewer noted, there were a lot of "as is" small appliances and kitchen gadgets in taped-up boxes, enough duplicates of the same item that they seemed to be marked-out overstock or clearance stuff from another store. Don't be shy about opening these boxes to make sure the essential parts are in there! Goodwill doesn't always check boxed items to verify that they contain even the basic minimum of parts needed to put an item together, so you can't trust what it says on the box. Overall, not a bad store, and I'm willing to believe that they may have just been having a bad day when I was there. The prices were good and the selection is large, so it's definitely worth paying a visit if you're thrifting in Reno. read more

Went to drop off some almost new stuff and after waiting in line for 25 minutes was told they didn't want it. Took it to st Vincent and they were so happy to get it. Never donating to these picky people so the top guys can make millions in pay each year again. St.Vincent does more for the poor than these guys anyhow. read more

I have never felt more discriminated than I had on Saturday afternoon at the goodwill outlet store on oddie!! Patricia Jackson, who was the cashier, and I have bad history. Within 10 minutes I felt like I was surrounded by people wearing yellow vests, they made me feel like they thought I was going to steal, I MEAN REALLY? Steal from the "bargain bin", how pathetic would I be, anyway very unprofessional in my opinion. I had said something to the manager, I'm assuming, and again she was extremely rude. Maybe her and Patricia should take a course on people skills 101 because neither should be in customer service! AND you should maybe screen your employees a little better because patty steals from every place she has ever worked at and likes to smoke dope in the bathroom. If you have ever wondered what happens to items that are left unsold in thrift stores, this is where it ends up. I honestly felt that a lot of the stuff in the store was a bit overpriced for what it was. They have a good selection of books and music and tons of clothes, but not a lot of furniture. There's also a few bargains on your way to the checkout. This used to be a happy, friendly store but it's far from that now. Whoever the manager is, or whoever is making new policy decisions needs to be fired! They have taken advantage of the COVID issue by changing the store logistics as well as next door, which is a goodwill clearance store. They have removed all of the clearance bins and now it looks like a used furniture store and no more clearance items! What's more, anything you want to purchase on the clearance store has to be paid for in the other store. This may not seem to big a deal but the line to the register was all the way to the back of the store!!!! read more

I stopped in here to check out what was available. It was pretty disappointing. This place was doing a thrift shop version of the wild wild west. They had some absolutely ridiculous prices on a bunch of items here. Overpriced shoes, sporting goods, archery, and broken / incomplete toys. The selection of loathing was haphazard. The children's shoes were all over the place and not in a single area. Half of the furniture was broken as well or looked very substandard. Hell the bargain bin furniture of trash next store was much nicer than what they had here. I don't suggest this place. It is a very poor representation of a thrift shop. read more

This place is a complete zoo. Every time I've been here there have been unattended children running all over the place, fighting and throwing stuff at each other. I'm not really sure what Goodwill can do about this, but I suppose it'd be nice to read a warning on Yelp before walking into this place. This location has a side-by-side Goodwill Store and Goodwill Outlet. The Goodwill Store was nice, normal, had changing rooms & shopping carts and adequate staff. The staff has put in an above-average effort to organize the items nicely. The Goodwill Outlet is the pay-by-the-pound free-for-all over the big bins of random stuff that didn't sell at Goodwill. Not as nice as the store and no changing rooms (but that's normal for a Goodwill Outlet). This Outlet location had better staffing, more shopping carts available, and shorter lines than the Goodwill Outlet I normally visit. It was also cleaner. There's nothing wrong with the two Goodwill places at this location. In fact, they were slightly better than the norm. read more

I love the Reno goodwill stores (relative to other Reno thrift stores) because of the turnover in items. This one is not as good as the South Virginia store (maybe I don't hit it at the right times). The folks at the cash register are always friendly, especially if I have my daughter with me. Goodwill, if you''re reading this, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put a damn bathroom in this store! This place is crawling with kids (and adults) who need to take a leak or have their diapers changed. I should 1) not have to change my daughter on the floor of a damn fitting closet, and 2) not have to see a massive, stinky wet spot where someone has taken a piss on the carpeted floor in the corner of the fitting closet!!!! read more

The Goodwill Bargain Bin used to be a fun place to shop. Everything was organized. The store was clean. I used to go in once a week and I'd see a lot of the same people. It was a fun place. Not anymore. Now it' a mess. It's dirty. The goods are thrown on tables without regard as to what they are. So much stuff is broken just because of the way it's handled. It makes you want to cry. It's been two years since I've been in there and it's true a lot can change, but so much. Goodwill took a fun store and ruined it. read more

This review is NOT for the Bargain Bin next door. I went in that place once and I'll never go back - mostly because I'm not a fan of picking up contagious diseases while I'm shopping. This review is for the actual Goodwill store - where items are on racks and there is some kind of order to the inventory. This Goodwill is not in a great neighborhood at all. The Parking lot needs a lot of work and the old "Lowe's" sits next door and has been vacant for about 10 years now so expect weeds growing up through the asphalt. I typically try to park close to the doors when I come to this location. I won't shop for clothing at this location because it's dirtier than it should be. The only things I look at here are purses and art pieces. Once in awhile I'll head back to the furniture area just to see what they have but that section is always destroyed and covered in filth with broken items strewn about. I usually only spend about 15-20 minutes in this location and I usually leave empty handed because they don't typically have anything that catches my eye. I won't go out of my way to go this store but if I'm in the neighborhood I will stop by. A few years back I noticed a creeper following my daughter and I around so we left and didn't go back until recently - I haven't had any other creeper issues. Good store to waste some time bargain hunting. Not a good store to actually find real bargains. read more
