Overalls for $0.50!
Michael S.

I need to save money. What better way than kids clothes at goodwill. They grow our of them so fast. I got 1 pair of overalls, 4 pairs if shorts, 2 pairs of jeans and 1 pair of pants for $9.11. Heck yeah!

Fantastic thrift shop that serves a wonderful purpose in New Braunfels!…read more Every single penny spent here goes directly to funding patient care assistance. We found so many cute and useful things ranging from medical equipment to brand new clothes. They have a donation station set up in the back of the store. If you wish to volunteer they have applications in the front of the store and you can drop them off at the main Hope Hospice building right next door. Everyone who runs this shop is extremely kind and helpful! It almost appears to be closed due to all the heavy construction on Walnut. I've been closely connected to the Hope Hospice program since they helped my grandpa and family when he was suffering from cancer. Please support!

I brought this concern to a volunteer while in the thrift shop, and she said, "We don't have anyone who can help with that, SWEETIE." I asked her to call me ma'am, but she doubled down and called me another patronizing name. Why are they there if they don't want to respect disabled people in all aspects? Isn't Hope Hospice about caring? Maybe the facility itself is, with its paid staff, but the volunteer-powered store is sorely lacking. The population is getting older and less able bodied; and damnit, we deserve some support and respect!

The day did not start off well as we were looking for a place called "Comal Tubes" and come to find…read moreout, it's in a rinky dink store called "The Family Exchange". We got there at 12:30pm as most tubing places open up early.. only to find that they did not open until 1pm. After waiting around for the store to open, the owner was extremely rude and we already wanted to go elsewhere. Since we bought a discount deal, we decided to just rent the tubes there. The owner explained that the shuttle comes very frequently and to wait out in the back of the shop. We went out back and waited an hour and a half in the hot sun for a shuttle! There were at least 70 people waiting and obviously no way we would all fit on one shuttle. When we went to ask when it would be coming, he said that he told us it would be 2 hours. If we had known this, we definitely would have gone elsewhere. This was a bad customer experience and we did not get on the river until 3pm! I never want to go back to that place again!! Next time, I will continue to go to "Rockin' R" and pay the more expensive price for better and faster service!!!!

Family Exchange & Comal Tubes are pretty much the same building. They claim they're "The Cheapest…read moreTube Rentals in New Braunfels!" Which might be true, but here you get what you pay for. These tubes are CHEAP and thin and look like something you could buy from Academy. They tear easily and are obviously not strong enough to withstand multiple trips down the river. The "optional" shuttle ride is $6 PER PERSON. Which brings the cost of renting one tube up to $18 + tax. Sure, you can choose not to take the shuttle and save $6. Your other "option" is to walk 1.5 miles to the river entrance, in 100 degree weather, while carrying your tube and ice chest. In the time we were waiting for the shuttle to arrive, we probably could have walked, actually. It took forever, there's no shade to wait in and we couldn't even get on the first one since there were so many people waiting. About 5 minutes after getting in the river, the bottom of one of our friend's tubes ripped out. After going down the first tube chute, my tube started loosing air. It probably tore from scraping against the concrete wall of the chute. We were already too far to go back to the shuttle, so I "floated" the 3 hour river on a half-inflated tube and had to stop several times to blow it back up. We waited under the green awnings to board the shuttle back and watched just about every other company's shuttles come and go, and ours still hadn't shown. There were about 30+ people waiting from Comal Tubes and I think they only had one shuttle working at the time. We finally got back and were planning on complaining about the deflated tube, but the business was closed, the doors locked. We did have a BuyWithMe deal from this place, but I wouldn't use Comal Tubes again even if it was free.
