I always seem to get a cart- though they suck and have terrible wheels they get the job done. I have mixed experiences when I'm here- I've been 4 times alone and once with my two younger daughters- we stay together because there can be a crowd at times. We don't re sale, we come looking for things we need and can use or wear. We have gotten a few books that weren't trashed and aren't old library returns, we have found several outfits and a bunch of shoes we like. My favorites have been my REEF sandals that weren't trashed- even brand new. They try to put rubber bands around the shoes but stupid people pull them apart and toss them so it's hard to locate the other one sometimes which sucks. We have found several newer baby items like a seat cover for a car seat, a shopping cart cover for my granddaughter- I wear yard working gloves because the bottom of the bins tends to have broken pieces like sharp glass or sometimes needles eek- also we have found used diapers and soiled underwear... yuck! The smaller baby and infant clothing is hit or miss- some are adorable and others have a lot of stains. Always check jacket zippers and buttons- pants as well- we have gotten home excited and washed things only to realize they are missing those things or zippers don't work. There are people that hoard a bunch of stuff and park all the carts full of their crap on the edges and cover them with blankets... I personally don't think this should be allowed, others would like carts esp coming with smaller children! I have had to bring my own large Costco bag. I purchased a nice soft sleeping bag in great condition and when the gal was whipping it around on the scale snagged it and by the time I got home I have a four inch slice down the soft bag & stuffing coming out! I had to buy a patch repair kit... not a lot of care at the register. When new bins come out you'd think it was 2020 and people were fighting for the last toilet paper on earth- shoving and pushing etc- GROW UP! It's used clothing ffs.... It's ridiculous to act like that- we just wait til they're done acting like morons then stroll over and still find some awesome stuff- my girls love Squishmallows and if you don't mind filthy ones you can grab them for cheap- then we sanitize the hell out of them when you get home. I love the shoes when I can actually find a matching set! LOL I even got a nice leather pair of platforms I'm wearing to my daughter's wedding. Just needed a buff and polish. Fun to go to but iffy area with a lot of homeless all over begging and living in tents nearby. That scared my young girls who haven't seen that before, I turned it into being a great lesson on why not to use drugs.... Besides the area and creepy location, we have had some great scores and other times left with nothing but a headache & bottle of sanitizer. Cool if you're looking for a thrift shop cheaper than DI and a little more fun picking through things and finding some cool prizes.... It's worth a shot if you want to see it- I'd go during the day- evening is when a lot of creepers are out in the area :/ Also they have locked bathrooms but will unlock them for you- nice if you have kids!! At the Goodwill Outlet, we will circle around the large bins of miscellanea-clothing of all sorts and sizes, books, household items-all mixed together for the thrill of the hunt. We don't go here looking for something specific, but rather let the treasures make themselves known. It can take a bit of looking, but if we're lucky we will find something great. Periodically, the staff brings out new bins. At that time, the old ones will be rolled away and the hoards of people who are standing by eagerly will pounce on the new bins when they are declared available. Thrifting extreme! If you want to compete with resellers and find the "last chances" of the Salt Lake City Goodwills, this experience is for you ... and I will say experience. This isn't shopping! This is digging, close quarters, bins, rope drop runs. Think Black Friday multiple times an hour. The advantage to your hunt is cheap pricing. On the Saturday we went, the clothes were $1.99/lb. I used to really enjoy donating and shopping with Goodwill, but in recent years, they have been making that difficult and based on this online purchase, I'm going to provide feedback that hopefully encourages change. In general, I have two issues with Goodwill. 1) Pricing. Items used to be affordable and as of late, items cost far more than reasonable. Should never see anything used at Goodwill that I know I could find new at Costco for a competitive price 2) limited discounts. I found another thrift store in my area that does exactly what Goodwill lshould. When you donate to them, you get a coupon for either 10% or 15% off. Great incentive to have people come in to donate. It tells me you value my donation and purchase. For this purchase my concern was the slow, lazy, sloppy handling of my auction item. In other Goodwill auctions, I paid for my item and it shipped in 24 hours. In this case, I reached out after 3 days and got a reply that standards handing was 5 days. My item did ship the following day, most likely based on my ticket, but this is my gripe. As someone who has spent decades in logistics, it's clear to me this is an amateur operation. Any efficient seller would package and stage the items after taking photos, that way, when the auctions closes and payment is tendered, all you have to do is apply a label and hand it off to the carrier. That is same day shipping made easy. The true burn is Goodwill charges a handling fee. Who charges handling fees anymore, it's a scam! If you charge to handle my items, I certainly expect you to expedite them, with delay, otherwise you are just padding profits. Here is the problem, If I don't bid, item's don't sell for as much, which means less money to Goodwill, so do us both a favor, when I pay 3x of the auction starting price and you charge me for handling, and I pay the minute that auction closes, my item better ship next day, or I'll never bid on another auction. Goodwill is always literally begging for community support, I provide it through purchases and donations and never get anything less than a hassle. Recently, I bought an item that was mismarked, the size on the ticket didn't match the label. I bought it based on the ticket assuming it was correct, when I attempted to return it, I was told it had to go back to the original store of purchase, because it was out of district for my local store. Isn't Goodwill, Goodwill? I'd hope you could return to any store and if accounting is that tight, charge back the return to that location. Again, Goodwill is earning a reputation for being less than accommodating, and I don't think they can afford that public profile. read more

I've been to a few Goodwill Outlet locations. This one was the cleanest I've been to. It had nice staff and the lines were short The place was busy. We got there midday and like all other locations, the carts were taken already. People were standing around (waiting for new bins, I assume) and some were digging through the bins. Bring your own bags is my advice We stayed about 45 mins, never saw a new bin come out so I assume they rotate every hour or more. They had more bins then I'm used to. The bins weren't as organized as other locations (housewares vs clothing vs shoes). They were all kinda intermixed. The place was pretty warm (temp was over 100 outside). read more

A Horrible experience. I asked them to pack the item with care and what I got was the items thrown into a box. I wrote to the location BEFORE it was shipped and was assured by the person replying: Reply On 5/30/2024: "We will pack with extra bubble wrap and cardboard to avoid damages". Look at the photo - Do you see any bubble wrap? Do you see any protective packing material anywhere? Does this look it was packed WITH CARE? Does it look like this location cares about how they treat customers? It doesn't look that way to me. It's your time and money - use it well! read more

Are literally the cheapest you can come by and B. Are not able to ridiculously mark up ANYTHING. This store was really strange. This is an absolute last resort type of place. This is where you go if you absolutely NEED some cheap clothes (trust me, that's all that's there), and would rather dig through big blue bins that are full of them. Your cart is weighed by the pound, and that's what they charge you. Sort of a "flat rate" store. The thing is, this is a great concept, but the one here in SLC was less than pleasant. It was very scattered, everything was everywhere. You really had to dig through them to find anything. As I said, it's all in big blue bins, which would have been fine, if there were CATEGORIES. Nope, you can find ratty mens socks in the same bin as Levi's skinny jeans. There is a simple solution to this, which is to separate mens stuff from womens stuff, separate tops from bottoms, separate shorts from pants, separate outerwear from inner wear, etc. The store was super dirty, everything was everywhere, and I will never unsmell the bathrooms. Not a pleasant experience. By the way, there are four other Goodwills in the area that are so much nicer. The best one was the Goodwill Store in West Jordan, on 6980 S Redwood Road. That one was clean, organized, and had super helpful staff. Go to that one, it's much nicer. read more

I decided to stop by this thrift store while running some errands. I'm not a big thrifter, but every once in a while I like to check out the thrift stores to see if they have any good items or things I need. This place is basically a big warehouse with giant garbage bins full of items. I believe this is the place that has one of the cheapest prices and that is the main point of this thrift store. It's not for looks or for service, but for the price! I walked around the bins for a little while and I realized you definitely have to DIG through those bins to find something good. Even if this place has little to no service or any sort of dignity, it would help if there were a few easy changes to the place. I found it difficult to locate anything. It would be nice if there could be some paper signs on the garbage bins as to what the bin mostly consists of, like "men's clothes" or "children's clothes". I also feel like it would be nice if there could be a sort of dignity to the place. It almost felt like people were digging through the trash. It is pretty dimly lit inside the building and there is no sort of "welcoming feeling", maybe some color to the place would help make it feel more like an establishment rather than a place of homelessness. I believe this place helps many people with finding things they need for an affordable price and that is awesome! However, some small changes might help the atmosphere of the place and make it seem a bit more inviting. read more

Ever wonder where the stuff goes that doesn't sell at the Goodwill? Yes, it goes to third world countries. But, where does it go before that? To this warehouse where they bring everything out in huge bins and you dig through it all, fill your cart, and pay by the pound. A lot of it is crap, but you can clothe your family for pennies if you need to. They pretty much have all the same stuff that a normal Goodwill sells including the occasional pair of designer jeans, but consider this like the "scratch and dent" stuff comparatively, or the stuff that just didn't quite meet their "stringent" quality controls. Not sure why because some of it is pretty decent. Anyways, most bins stay out for a specific period of time - long enough to give everyone a chance to pick through them, then they take them back and bring out new bins and everyone attacks like jungle piranha. Dig deep enough and and you will find plenty to take home. I found an Ed Sheeran t shirt, some good clean toddler size clothes for my nephew, a near mint condition Tonka bulldozer and a Nikon 35mm camera all for $9. I don't care about Ed Sheeran, so I sold the shirt on eBay for $8 and got most of my money back already. I didn't even wash it. Man, I'm a jerk. read more

I heard about this place from many friends and friends at school and so me and two of my other friends decided to go our older sister, or his older sister was taking us and we showed up there and I really liked the idea of it because of instead of it, being like savers, where people will come and clear everything out, you kinda have an equal chance basically, the idea of that is that when they bring bins out, people are able to stand behind a kind of caution taped off-line, and when that line is brought back, people are able to go and look for the stuff. Everybody's kind of just very aggressive but it's nothing personal. It's just them wanting a thrift, after the bin had been cleared out on all the good stuff had been found they would tell everybody to get back behind the caution, tape lines, and they would switch the bin they had brought out with a brand new bin in the back room they brought it out and then they counted down and everybody ran to find the new thrift stuff you can see the video I found some Carhart jeans of vintage Nike jacket and some corduroy Levi'sI was very impressed with what I found and I felt nice cause usually when I go to savers or Goodwill I don't really find all that much but this felt like I had a good chance. First the guy who said the stuff here is things that didn't meet Goodwill standards is wrong. 'The bins' are over flow. Stuff that didn't sell at Goodwill and they needed to move out to make room for new inventory in the store. I found a mink coat today. So yeah... there more to it than things being 'scratch and dent.' I'm even seeing some DI tags there and I know the church sells off stuff they don't sell after having it sit around in their store... so wondering if Goodwill is buying it. That said... welcome to Covid 19, 2020. In other states Goodwill Outlet is being very conscious as to limiting the people in the store, social distancing, etc. Here they obviously care nothing for their customers. Though the have signs up about social distancing, nothing is being enforced. Monday they at least had bins spaced ab bit. Today? Nadda. They even had a group of people who weren't even shopping but sat in camp chairs in a group of three hour, blocking three of the bins and the isle do no one could get through. One of them actually laid down in the bins and the other had his large dog sitting in one. I'm sorry but what the ... ? Most people aren't wearing masks and yeah, it's the Wild West out there. Kids were even running around with a Nerf type gun shooting each other and anyone who got in the way. I know it's filthy dirty Goodwill Outlet where you can find people's dirty underwear that GW threw in. But seriously maybe at least some moderation from management? Some logic? Some sense of trying to make it even a little safe? Maybe have the male appendages enough at least to ask that people not nap in the bins and perhaps find somewhere else to loiter? I usually love the bins but i went today with a bag of my personal clothes worth 1000$ and i asked if i could keep it behind the counter so they could watch it till i found a cart, i come back 45 minutes later with a cart and my bag is gone. so i freak out and talk to management and they say they don't have it but they will look and that it most likely was thrown into the trash compactor? They search and nothing, i later asked a worker if he saw a bag behind the counter would he throw it into the trash compactor and he said if the bag was behind the counter he would leave it till its picked up and if not by the end of the day put it in the back, sorry i know this is a long story but I'm wondering what to do? read more

I usually only write reviews when the customer service has been exceptional or absolutely awful. In this situation, IT WAS AWFUL. First of all, get some signs posted if you guys have rules. Tiffany was so rude about their rules that we were just supposed to know by walking in there once? No. I'm not okay with the way she treated us at all. She needs to be talked to about the way she's treating people. I get it can be tough to work in a situation like goodwill and have swarms of people but the least they could do is say, "hey we are trying to switch the bins out we ask that everybody stay to the sides until we have them switched out & when we say you're good, you're good" but being our first time in we had no idea what was going on. So ??? No need to be rude, Tiffany. I've lost faith in humanity at this point. The rest of the workers were pleasant to work with. And I got 3 tote bags if you love to recycle and reduce use, and are in the area come here I totally recommend it in total I spent 40 dollars on my clothes. This goodwill store is poorly managed and customer service is abysmal. They sell a lot of their higher-end items on ShopGoodwill.com along with the entire country's goodwill stores who are on to this selling technique. My experience with them, for the first and last time, has been with ONE item. For the past four months, I have been communicating with a mystery person who will not identify themselves. You can imagine the sordid details in an anonymous person's emails when they don't think they need to be responsible for their actions, inactions, inappropriate behavior and lack of any professionalism in representing this retail store. It bothers me a lot since all of these goodwills state that they are selling their high-end donations to help train those in their community that needs a helping hand. Makes me wonder who's training, evaluating and monitoring the management of this store. This "person" blocked me from participating in any auction they have on this site telling me that I used foul language in a previous communication. So, I looked at my entire history of emails I've sent to all goodwills who use this site to sell their high-end donations. I found one, asking them why they have me blocked for using "disrespectful" and "foul" language in a previous communication. Problem is, there isn't any previous email communication that I've ever sent to them. They continue to ignore my requests for proof of their claim and I never hear back at all.
