My coffee mug with my initial "A" & a baseball planter for my plant my mom gave me for my apt
    Anna R.

First time shopping here and just wanted to drop in to see what they had. I went thru every aisle and before I knew it my cart was full! The cashier that checked me out was super friendly and even wrapped my coffee mug & porcelain planter! Thanks Halo! Well done. I will return with the next paycheck!! lol

I know I wrote a review for this once and somehow it disappeared- annoying! Anyway.... Love this location. Very well organized and TONS of merchandise and commercial salvage. Housewares has a lot of interesting items that other 2nd hand shops in town don't have very much of. I am inclined to think some of their clothing items are being barged in from the lower 48 because there is so much stuff you just don't see here in Alaska. They have a nice DVD and VHS and book section as well. They also always do a seasonal section for the holidays. My one complaint is that like all the other 2nd hand shops in town, sometimes their items are more expensive than their are new at their original stores such as Walmart since their use a flat rate fee schedule.

Huge find on jazz vinyl and in pristine condition for something from 1972!

This store is a weekly destination for me on Mondays or Tuesdays to see if any new arrivals came in on vinyl. This Goodwill on the south side of Anchorage is located in the shopping center hub off of Dimond and Old Seward next to Duluth Trading Co. and the Texas Roadhouse opposite the Dimond Center. The retail floor is organized and the employees are friendly whenever I stop in. The selection of vinyl is minimal which is a surprise since this is the larger of the two locations here in town. When this store opened over a year ago, there was an entire shelf section full of vinyl in the media area. As the months have gone by, the records have been dwindling progressively to the point where they only occupy two small shelves. This is puzzling since the midtown location has had new arrivals weekly and new ones show up every two or three weeks here. There are good finds every now and then, but I've been leaving without buying frequently due to the poor selection and deteriorated condition of the records in stock. Hopefully, this slow trend will change soon and more will come in towards summer.

My husband and I for more than two years we always choose goodwill for our donations. for the good service it presents, but I was very disappointed in the situation that happened to me. On Saturday May 20, my husband by mistake donated a bag with all my sweaters and jackets (since we are moving), 20 minutes after realizing it, we went to Goodwill and they told us that due to issues that they had already closed so was nothing the store could do, but if it was okay, they could fill out an application for them to look for the bag and they would call us. On Sunday, May 21, I told my husband to go and ask because many of the sweaters in that bag were memories from my mom who passed away a few years ago. but how the manager's response said that "you had to wait for our call". The next day I went back and asked them if they could look since they were important and I only received indifference and just "we called you". I asked how long they thought they were putting the clothes in and they said a couple of days, I went again on Wednesday May 24 but I didn't see anything, but today Friday May 26 the first thing I saw was two of the sweaters that were in that bag. my impotence made me ask that for goodwill we are only an income of money, but nothing more. The manager who attended me today was cordial but I know he's not going to do anything because I already know they were sold. really I just want tell you this because I want goodwill alaska to do something for these cases everyone makes mistakes.

Drop off was easy. Drive to the back and there is someone there to help unload out of the snow or rain.

I am in Alaska for vacation and since most of my vacations incorporate some thrifting/antiquing…read moreshopping I decided to Yelp some nearby locations. This store popped up and we decided to stop by. FYI there is a coffee/soda shop next door (another review for that place also done). This store was in a plaza, plenty of parking spots. At first entrance once inside, it looks tiny and the way things are set up, I was thinking that prices were going to be expensive. Don't be fooled, it may look small but there are a lot of great finds. This particular store is focused on women clothing, accessories and some home knick knacks. There is also another FashionPact that is HUGE and has kids and mens clothing, books, home goods, etc... But back to this location...everything is organized by sizes, they are inclusive and also have a plus section. FashionPact has a section by the front door that features items that they have posted on their social media accounts. If you fell in love with the item, you can come into the store and purchase or also they can ship the item to you. Check out their accounts to get details. At first, you think this is like all other thrift stores but two cool things that make their store stand out. They have dynamic pricing. You see the price of the item listed at the top of the tag, then if the item is not sold by the date listed, the price is reduced. If the item is still not sold, then the third price listed is the final purchase price. Such a simple concept, but it made me realize that their purpose is to sell merchandise and leave space available for new donations. Plus, in selling then money could be donated which brings me to the second cool thing about this store. As a buyer, you can pick which local organization gets a percentage of your total purchase. If you donate clothes, you also get to choose. Shopping and choosing where to donate makes you feel good. They have a screen at the top of the register that shows the local organizations, but if you want to know more about the groups, they have an iPad next to the register so you can read more about the groups. They have the organizations divided by categories such as, animals, arts, education, etc. There are so many choices and all groups are local! How awesome is this! If you are not too busy shopping, all throughout the store, you can spot the thank you cards/letters/drawings from these organizations for the donations. I went twice, back to back to this location and got so many good deals. Scratch that, steals. Good clothing and accessories for under $10, but most were under $5. My brag from this store was a Columbia pink fleece zip up jacket with tags for $5, wow!!!!!! The other items that I also purchased were used but in excellent condition or with tags. The sales associate was sorting through donations and when I came back the next day, there was a lot of new items in my size section. SOOOOOOO sad that there is not a store like this in the Bay Area. I did tell them they should open one up and they said that they have friends in SF that have told them the same thing. Sadly, rent would be a killer around here. Staff was so nice. I know this place is not touristy but for sure this is a dream store for any thrift store lover. I joked that I could come to Anchorage with an empty luggage and challenge my self to only use clothes bought from any of the FashionPact locations. If you live in the area, lucky you. Stop and donate or shop, you will be helping the local community.

**July 2024: Saturday Afternoon Visit**…read more I almost don't want to review so that I can keep this gem all to myself; however the mission of this thrift shop is so heart warming that it would be a crime not to share. It's a nice boutique and everything is sorted by garment type and size. There is a fitting room for patrons to try on outfits and good music to keep you in a good mood. Pricing is very fair and there's two prices listed on each tag. After a certain date the price cuts to half. On my visit my mom and I were able to snag a couple of half priced items and two full priced ones, which was still a steal. My coat was $10, blouse $5, and I think my mom got two wrap dresses, and a blazer with everything being under $50. Now if that doesn't make you feel great the proceeds go towards a charity in Alaska and you can pick which one your purchases goes towards. We chose the zoo and hope everyone will go support this little shop when visiting Anchorage.

There are a ton of stuff in here you might need 30+ minutes if you're really looking. They have an array of items you can by. Mostly furniture, DIY materials and stuff people hand make, crafts, clothes, dishes, Alaska stuff, jewelry. Etc. random stuff. Things I have bought: a car trash bag, dryer balls, laundry detergent strips, sticker, I forget what else really. They have a small kids area with toys and clothes, women's clothes upstairs, a few rooms with dishes, an Alaskan section, a reusable item section, a craft room, and space for volunteers to repurpose stuff before they sell it. They also do craft classes here but I'd check the website for up to date info. They also have a cafe now that rotates who is cooking. I have never seen the coffee bar operational they have nobody that runs it. I dont know if the lady working in Remade would make you a coffee or not if you asked. They are located between Huffman and de Armond road on old Seward. Usually open 11-5 and closed sundays.

Get kids books, chapter books, or cookbooks. Some clothing is doable, some sweatshirts are priced high. You should never pay $20 for a used shirt. The toys often are filthy dirty, broken, and they don't come with all the pieces. Go elsewhere for kids toys(Once upon) I did find a kids learning tower for $25 when they go for 80-100 online.
