This is a review for drop-off via the drive-through. Super quick & fast - we had 5 bags of clothing and shoes, and we were in and out within 2 minutes. Our season of love is around the corner, people donate your gently used goods and share some love! I really liked this Goodwill because it offers super easy donation drop off option in the back of the store! Donation drop off is located at the back of the store so look for the back entrance, not main. I originally came to the front of the store, but you have to get out of the plaza and make a loop to get into the back of the store. It is one way entrance, so that can be slightly tricky, but it is easy to figure out. Just follow the drop off signs! I did go inside the store, and it was pretty spacious and organized. I saw some decent shoes from nordstrom and ninewest, so maybe you could find some quality items here. I myself donated a lot of gently worn decent clothes, and I am planning on donating more house goods including new and like new items. Also, dont forget to ask for your tax slip! read more

I want to give this place 4 stars, but I really can't. First the good: 1. Donations at this location are easy as pie. Drive up. They will help you unload and give you a receipt if you want one. MUCH easier than at the Glebe Rd. location which can be a giant cluster. 2. The dressing rooms are usually very clean. 3. It's a pretty big store, so you can probably find what you're looking for. From furniture to wedding gowns, this place usually has a great selection. Sometimes you can even find something special. 4. This particular location has been in a new space for more than a year, and the new space is bigger and brighter than their old space. 5. The employees have always been helpful. 6. If you have a CapitalOne card, you get a 10% discount. But there are some major drawbacks to this particular store: First, even though they have a bigger space, the aisles are inexplicably narrow. One aisle even has a pole at the end of it, so it is impossible to get a shopping cart through that aisle. There is usually something blocking most of the other aisles, as well. This cannot possibly be ADA compliant, and it makes for a much too tight shopping experience. Second, items are not as well organized as they are at other Goodwill locations, so you really have to hunt. The clothing doesn't appear to be organized in any fashion other than shirts are on one rack, pants on another, etc. But the clothing isn't organized by size, and unlike other Goodwill stores, it barely seems to be organized by color, either. The "art" section is always a total chaotic mess, and even though they have shelves labelled "Glassware," etc., you will find these items at other, unmarked locations throughout the store. It can be very confusing. Finally, like all other Goodwill stores in the area, this place marks items up *if* the people sorting donations recognize the brand or otherwise consider the items special in some way. And like all other Goodwill stores in the area, this leads to somewhat erratic & unpredictable pricing. For example, I saw stained women's suits from Ann Taylor and Perry Ellis marked up to $20-25 (regular Goodwill price for a suit is $10.98), while on the same trip there was a Tommy Hilfiger men's wool blazer in pristine condition for normal price, and I got a great Tommy Hilfiger sweater for less than $5. They will mark up shoes & put them in the display case up front, but somehow they'll miss the gorgeous Ferragamo heels, marked at only $7.98. While I understand marking prices up from regular prices to support Goodwill's important mission, I think the "boutique" pricing would work best if they reserved it for the truly special items, and didn't simply slap a higher price on something because the label says Ann Taylor or Calvin Klein. Unless the item is really great, they should just price everything using their standard prices. read more

I try to distribute things I do not need anymore to a wide number of charitable organizations. I will alternate the charity I donate everything to annually and today it was Goodwill's turn. I have not lived in this area long so was delighted to find how close this Goodwill is to my house. It is set up in the easiest way to donate a lot of stuff. You just drive around to the back and pull your car right up to their receiving door. The young man who helped me unload my trunk was extremely friendly and sweet, and he had that attitude on a day of extreme heat, humidity and poor air quality! They are quite busy so this day was clearly going to be physically miserable for him. Anyone who puts on a can do attitude and is warm and friendly in that environment gets my admiration. If you wish, they will give you a receipt to fill out for your taxes. The store was huge and well lit with a well organized great selection. The food truck in the parking lot in front is an added bonus. Based on the number of cars donating and how much I saw going in during my donation, I would tell people looking for bargains to go frequently because the goods are always coming in here. I donated some fancy stuff, like 4 Anthropologie matching curtain panels in like new condition that were quite expensive when I purchased them. I moved and they did not work in my new home so there they will hopefully put a smile on someone's face who can get them dirt cheap! read more

Drop-off review. Effortless way to donate your things. They have a drive-thru sort of set-up. You just follow the arrows around the building, pull up, park, and hand your things over to the volunteer stocking the warehouse. It took under 2 minutes to donate 6 bags of clothing and shoes. Doesn't really get much easier than that. read more

Definitely not the best Goodwill around, but decent enough. It's well laid-out, with women's clothing right up front. They've got a separate room for furniture and housewares. I didn't see anything close to desirable among the furniture options and I felt like prices were still a little high for what you're getting. Clothing selections were much better, with an entire wall dedicated to dresses and a well-organized shoe section. For me it's not worth making the trek out to Rockville, I'll stick to my DC Goodwills, but if I was in the area I'd make it a point to at least stop by and see what they've got. read more

This is my favorite Goodwill in terms of selection and size, the only problem being the fact that it is way out in the middle of nowhere for those of us living in DC. It's kind of a hike from the Metro at White Flint but you can combo that up with a trip to the Mega Mart (see my review)on the way home for a great latino grocery store. This place also has the best prices of any Goodwill in the area, with some sort of half price red tag system in place. They also have a surprising selection of records in this location and a ton of furniture and housewares of all shapes and sizes, we got a great glass vase here, Crate & Barrel style, for $1. read more

This is one of the best, if not the best, thrift stores I've been to in the DC area. It's decently-sized, clean, and has a ton of great finds. I've found a silk tote, floral skirt, Asian top, cute red H&M shoes, and some books by Margaret Atwood and Maya Angelou, just to name a few of my finds. If I had regular access to a car I'd go here more frequently. This store is not Metro-accessible and is easier to get to via car. It's hidden in a strip mall on a back street. read more

This Goodwill is very well organized and stocked with quality clothes. I was very pleased with my purchases. My only downside is I was charged extra for a leather coat and did not see the sign indicating the extra cost. It was a substantial price difference. Overall the crowd at the store and the workers were pleasant. There's clean dressing rooms, and clean restrooms. I took my time and found more than what I expected. I'd recommend getting to know the staff to determine when the sale dates are and when items are stocked. I dry-clean all clothes before I wear them. I really loved my selections and will frequent this store often! I'd recommend this store to the fashionable thrifty shoppers. read more

I'm a bit of a packrat so I've recently been frequenting local thrift stores. Visited this Goodwill today and I found an awesome Brenthaven laptop bag for $5. Looked through some of the menswear and didn't really see anything I'd want to buy. However, this seems to be the case with every thrift store I've been to this week. I've been looking for t-shirts, long sleeve button ups, and shoes. I enjoyed myself looking through all their stuff. Isn't that where all the fun is anyways? We dropped off some donations at 5:45pm on a Sunday. Staff was really nice and friendly - not what I was expecting from reading the previous yelp reviews. Note - the drop off apparently closes at 5:30 on Sundays while the store itself closes at 6:00pm. The only reason they were still there was they were processing a large donation ahead of us. Very busy location with only a few checkout counters. Anticipate waiting in line for a good amount of time. Decent array kitchenware, glassware, and old electronics. I picked up a few vases that were all $3. Clothing is worn but not tattered. Definitely would not go to this location exclusively for women's clothing or shoes. It's alright. Clothes aren't organized as well as they could be, so it takes patience to go through the racks to see the style and size of each item. Their Boutique section is overloaded with items that really shouldn't be there. For what I'm looking for, I've found that the quality and style of clothing items isn't as high as other thrift stores. I've had the most luck here with furniture and housewares -- scored a great set of Mediterranean-style plates, sauces and bowls and a Pottery Barn bench/chair. In the end, it's worth a visit because you never know what you'll find! read more

This is strictly a review for the drop-off aspect. I've donated a HUMONGOUS amount of items there in recent years. First - four years ago - when I moved my mother out of her house of 47 1/2 years to an apartment, and again - 8 1/2 months ago - when I moved my mother to Pikesville. I was back there again eight and ten days ago, once again bringing entire carloads of items (this time it was only clothes) from my recently-deceased aunt's apartment. The employees at the drop-off location have always been pleasant enough, but this time the guy was particularly nice. Also; the suburban location makes it particularly easy to drop off donations (vs. - for example - Housing Works in NYC, where I frequently donate and where it's rather arduous to carry tons of stuff into the stores). read more

Great place to donate everything from clothing to house ware! The employees are a big help as well! Drive up to the side of the store and simply drop it off to an attendant. I hit up this Goodwill for any and all themed parties I get invited to! Great variety of stuff, and Tuesdays are 25% discount days (apparel only). Happy donating and shopping! read more

Never plan to donate to Goodwill again after the inefficiency and lack of customer engagement shown this year. First tried to go to VA store where I was rejected at 315 because donations stopped at 3 (though they were still serving others). Then tried calling this location the following morning to confirm availability and hours. Got auto response message with no info of use, so drove there and found a line of cars at least 20-25 cars long. How you can let this happen without a tweet or voice mail informing people of long wait is puzzling. Further it looked like many of the cars were donating just a few small items. I had a car full of items, including some big ticket items in good condition like a playpen. They might want to consider having a separate donation area to prioritize large / major items, versus people just trying to get a small tax write-off for near-junk. Since there was no staff able to answer on an expected wait time outside, I just drove away and my goods ended up at a nearby consignment shop and donation bin. read more

Like others have previously mentioned each time I have come here there are tons of people by the back doors waiting for stuff to come out. They immediately push you out of the way, grab everything and sort through it in their carts while looking up each item on their phone. Last weekend I saw an employee bringing out items from the back to one of the regulars who is probably reselling items. I won't be donating or shopping at this store anymore. read more

I donate and also shop at this location. Donating is easy and convenient. Over the years, I have only experienced long wait times around the end of the year, which is understandable. The staff is friendly. I also like to shop here, the store is clean and organized. Note that sometimes there are lines for checkout however, waiting for checkout may be a downside. There is always an assortment of interesting things you can find here. Overall, an efficient place for returning used things into circulation. read more

Although it's not my favorite thrift store in the area, I probably go to this Goodwill the most. Their hours are great and their shelves are always well-stocked with treasures. I've bought CDs, retro sheet sets, vintage dishes and a new Timbuk2 bag here. However, the furniture at this store is way overpriced. I don't know who they think is going to spend $250 on a ugly pleather sofa or $15 on a food-stained Ikea lack side table. Though it all seems to magically disappear in a few weeks. Their clothes are priced a little steep in my book, too. I think it's about $5 per item. But, if you look hard enough, you'll can sometimes find nice brand name pieces that will make it worth it. I have to say, something needs to be done at this location... I love this store, they have great selections, I find the best items here! However, on multiple occasions, as soon as the back door opens-when they are bringing out new racks of items, people literally run, stampede over others and will push you over! Really... this is Goodwill for goodness sake! I've even seen people peep through the back door to see what's coming out next. Groups of the SAME people whom are clearly resellers hoard by the back door so it makes it impossible to even look at the items towards the back. It's a danger/hazard zone once you get near the furniture section. People just stand in your way and will not even move when you say excuse me. They are so busy looking at their phones to look up items or other sites to see how much money they can make! Goodwill needs to possibly not even bring out racks at this location.. perhaps the workers from the back can just bring things out in hand, on hangers and them they can immediately place them on the racks and give everyone the same opportunity versus being pushed upon. Yes, I'm aware it could be wire work for the employees but safety first! It's dangerous and something needs to be done about it-management needs to talk to the regulars and tell them to chill out!! read more

I had the same terrible experience a lot of other people seem to have had with this place. I drove to Goodwill to donate a dog pen-- I know a lot of people facing hard financial times have trouble paying for pet supplies, and it was important to me to donate it. I parked and started to carry the pen towards the donation drop out. As I did, a man SCREAMED at me (I am using the word _screamed_) that there was a line of cars and what was I doing. Well, I can understand being frustrated with one's job on what was probably a pretty busy Saturday. And I can understand being frustrated with new people like me who haven't memorized the layout of the Rockville Goodwill. But I can't understand screaming at someone who was trying to donate something to your center. Also, I sincerely don't understand why it would have been any trouble for me to leave something in the drop-off area? I wasn't asking for help carrying anything and didn't want a receipt-- I just wanted to leave the dog pen and go about my day. In the end, I just sort of stared at the guy in disbelief and got back in my car. It really shook me up to be honest. There's a Montgomery County thrift store nearby and I guess that's where I'll be going with my donations from now on. read more

I drop-off a lot of things from my kids. The experience in Gaithersburg was very good. People are friendly and professional. Well orginized.

They opened a new store down the end of the plaza. It's bigger, cleaner and better. Better organized as well. I was able to find great items here, and it seemed like they had a better selection on higher end items. Only problem is there is nowhere for a line to form. So when it's really busy, the line gets long and unorganized. I've been cut in a line multiple times because of this. But the cashiers are nice and get you in and out with no problem. read more

This is a review for just their drop-off donations. The drop off is located in the back of the building. I came here on a Sunday and there were about 3 cars ahead of me, but the line moved quickly. Just pull up to the drop off entrance, pop open your trunk, hand them your donations and they'll give you a receipt, if you need one. It couldn't have been any easier. Quick and friendly. read more

The car goes around the back and I drop the stuff into the donate piles, grab my receipt and pull away. I pull the car around the front, park and go inside. I check the housewares...the men's department...NEVER THE SHOES (EWWWWW) and then back to the housewares! I love this store. The clothes are clean and it does not smell like the other Goodwills that I have been to in the past! I am SHOCKED with the selection of designer clothes. I have picked up excellent Ralph Lauren Polo shirts for $2.50. Excellent stuff in great condition. I have also known that the store needs to be in a ritzy neighborhood to get the good stuff! I can't wait to go back! My first visit on Saturday was strictly for housewares, which this Goodwill has in abundance. Plants for potting, dishes for serving and baking, lots of kitchen gadgets in good repair, loads of books and a decent selection of furniture (especially bookcases!). I didn't have time for the clothing, but it looked like a goldmine, filled with a mix of vintage and new pieces. Drool. read more

I wanted to give this store another try and in my subsequent visit to the store, I spoke with Kamala and the cashier together regarding my experience. The cashier remembered and acknowledged helping me with the coat purchase. However, Kamala never apologized for the way she handled the situation. It wasn't until I pointed out to her that she reluctantly said "sorry." I still don't think she gets it. My patronage to Goodwill is to support their mission to provide job training to those who need it. I'm not sure the money spent is going towards that. read more

This place is perfectly fine. There is a good selection of clothes, but the men's section is smallish. There were still some good finds though. There was an unusually large assortment of glasswear and home goods. I did find a nice briefcase, but it is mostly hit or miss. read more

This goodwill does pricing based on type of clothing (formal dresses are a higher price than casual, etc). It gets pretty packed on the weekend and has long lines. There's only three changing rooms. read more

I've been able to find a few reasonably priced items here, which were in very good, clean condition. The housewares section is a bit jumbled, but otherwise easy to pick thru to find what you need. I've found 2, brand new with tags, clothing items in perfect condition, for a steal. I come back every few months when I'm in the area, just to check out what's new. read more
