I joined a friend to run errands and this was one of her stops. She previously purchased some flooring/tile here and wanted to see what was in stock today. I was shocked at how huge the store was. Some of the items were pretty pricey, but most of what I saw was in great condition. Lots of light fixtures , couches , some refrigerators, and even a HUMONGOUS bed. I ended up leaving with a TV for $45. Can't beat that. Before checking out the volunteers plugged it in and made sure it worked before selling it to me. I definitely appreciated that. The volunteer even insisted she carry the TV out to the car for me. Very unexpected! read more

i loved our finds! we were able to get a nice couch for $40 and dining table for $60, after their 20% storewide discount. the staff were super helpful, and even helped us squish our couch into a sedan. we couldn't get the table apart, but the staff were very responsive and patient, as we were asking for different tools. highly recommend a thrift trip here for household goods! read more

I would rate this experience as poor for furniture donation. H for H connected us with a "mover" who rented a small truck, too small for all of the furniture. They came unprepared to move the furniture - no dollies, no handcarts, no moving blankets. They scratched the floor. They were confused about how to complete the move. In the end, they didn't even take the furniture to ReSupply. They brought the furniture to Wider Circle. The movers were frustrated that they did not have a point of contact. I was frustrated that I could not speak with a human at Habitat for Humanity. ​I had to hire another mover to remove the remaining furniture that could not fit into the small rented truck. read more

I called today to schedule a pickup for a few boxes of home goods items. All was going smoothly until they asked for payment over the phone for $350.00 as a gas surcharge for pickup of 10 boxes. Visited this store for the first time today. Parking can be a little tight, but I found a spot on the side of the store. The store was larger than I expected. It was well organized and clean and there were several staff available if you had questions. They carry an assortment of art, furniture, and lots of glassware. There is also tools, paint, and lots of cabinets in the back. Pricing was a bit higher than other thrist stores and I didn't find anything. read more

I enjoy this store, and I have visited it multiple times. I was there about ten days ago, and I brought a friend, who had never seen the facility. I reside in a new, three-year old apartment building, and the construction makes the apartments, very difficult to feel "cozy." When I enter ReStore, the atmosphere is cozy, more than likely, because there is such a variety of furniture, and I can tell that many of the items, from cut-glass goblets to lamps, were loved, before they were donated. What also makes this place special, is the storehouse of building materials, perfect for someone who is renovating a home, or redecorating, for a good price. I will be returning. read more

Save yourself the time and gas. First of the customer service is great, very nice and helpful employees work here. However this place is worse than any donation type store. The furniture here screams 70s or 80s!! Omg like I saw some stuff that my auntie had in the late 80s... the wood furniture is very heavy and scratched up. Like there is no friend or fam tats gonna want to haul that mess out... they had old non working grandfather clocks. Like why?? The prices are outrageous. It's a shame . People donate this only for it to marked up outrageously. The inside of the store is very musty and dusty. The store isn't clean. If you have dust allergies this isn't the place for you. read more

I'm a little ticked off at the moment. I arrived a little before closing at 5:00 PM. I wanted to make a donation. There was no markings at the loading dock area or anywhere else marking where donations should be made. I parked & went into the store. To be told that I was to take my items to the loading dock. I did but trucks were in the bays and no one was around. I said, "Hello" a few times. a woman came to the bay door & told me it was after 5:00 so I couldn't make my donation. It was one bag of soffit slightly heavy for me to have taken out of the back of my truck, brought to the loading dock & to then have to take back & put back into my truck. I'm a small 65 year old female. It was only a couple of minutes after 5:00 PM, I don't think it would have killed her to just accept it & send me on my way. To these reviews, I'd like to add a word of caution... Several weeks ago, after spending quite some time searching, I found the perfect bookcase at Restore, made of sturdy plywood with a warm-colored varnish, just the right size for the number of books it would hold. That day, in fact, there happened to be two mostly identical bookcases--the one I chose had four shelves stacked on a shelf midway; the other had no shelves, just the basic frame. I bought my shelf, saw to it that the volunteer who assisted me put a "sold" sign on it, and planned to return with our truck the next day to retrieve it. Imagine my shock and disappointment when, the next day, the other bookcase had been purchased AND the shelves to mine had disappeared. Fortunately, the store refunded my money. If you buy something at Restore, retrieve it ASAP and take any loose parts (unattached shelves, for example) with you as you leave the store the first time. I really wish the volunteer had warned me about this, since theft like this apparently happens now and then at this store. And, yes, in general, things are overpriced at this store. read more

This is the most spacious thrift store I have ever been to. It does not feel cluttered or claustrophobic and there is plenty of space to look at items. It's largely furniture, lights, home appliances, and other building related items (light bulbs, nails, screws, tools, etc). While they have a wonderful variety of items, I generally feel that the furniture is priced much higher than at other local thrift stores. I have had success finding specific light bulbs that otherwise would have been significantly more expensive if I had purchased them directly from Home Depot, and if I need to expand my tool box I'll probably check here before going to a hardware store. If you're in the area it makes sense to look because sometimes they do have gems, but generally the price isn't what I'm looking for. read more

I'll start by getting the altruistic stuff out of the way. Habit for Humanity is a great charity. I respect what they do, and it feels good to contribute to their mission. The rest of this review is all about ME, ME, ME! I love buying secondhand, and this is a great store. Compared to any other secondhand store in the area, Habitat for Humanity ReStore has a much bigger selection of furniture. They have a lot of chairs and sofas. They also have dressers, armoires, cabinets, bookshelves, etc. Everything is in fairly good shape; I haven't seen much junk there. Habitat ReStore also offers lots of appliances like washers, dryers, stoves, microwaves, dishwashers, refrigerators, etc. The prices can be excellent. I believe they test appliances before they sell them, but if I were buying one, I would ask. ReStore has a small case of collectables, and a (thankfully) smallish area with miscellaneous household shi... er... stuff. If you want building materials like cabinetry, sinks, or lighting, Habitat ReStore has you covered. It's not a huge selection, but more than any other secondhand store. Merchandise at Habitat ReStore turns over frequently, so any time you go, you are sure to find something new. TIP: If you see something you like, take it to the register and make arrangements right away to buy it. I once saw three people arguing over a steamer trunk: "I was going to buy that!" "No, I saw it first!" "No, I did!" It wasn't pretty. My only gripe about Habitat ReStore is that I think their hours are dumb. They are open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 to 5:00. This means that if you have a job, the only time you can shop there is at lunchtime or on Saturday. I'm docking them one star for dumb hours. read more

Thank you Yelp for helping me find this place. I have driven by it so many times and had no idea it was a thrift store before Yelping it. Easy parking right out front and inside was a thrifter's wonderland. Shelves upon shelves of dishes, glassware, lamps etc. Furniture, from sofas, china cabinets and dressers to desks and side tables. Huge selection of light fixtures and light covers, gallons of deck stain and wall paint, tools, rugs, cabinetry and even tiny antique dolls. I was amazed at the selection and I do realize proceeds go to a great cause, however, prices were a tad steep compared to Goodwill and other thrift stores. Even so, the choices were amazing. Very cheerful cashiers and an email sign up sheet so they can email the weekly specials. Whoot! I love specials. I will be going back here often. read more

We needed a new couch - fast. With the COVID delays the only couches we found in local stores that we liked and would fit are on at 12 week back order (best case scenario). I really went here in desperation not really expecting to find anything that I like, that would fit, and that was in "really" good condition. I immediately found something that suited all my needs, was super cute and was 50% off! The customer service was amazing especially the Store Manager Kiera who recommended a local pick up/delivery service. I was able to call the hauling service from the floor of the store before I left and set up pick up from the store and delivery to my home within a couple of hours of purchase! You simply can't beat that for service. Love my new couch so much I don't even think I'm going to bother spending several thousand dollars on a new one to replace it. read more

So many problems. (1) There is no way to identify volunteers or new staff (who do not know store policies and procedures) from regular staff/managers who do. Example: When purchasing an item I was told was discounted (and therefore I took time to stand in line to purchase), I got the hairy eyeball by "the manager" when I try to proceed with discounted price as I was informed. Yes, I got the price but only after being forced to wait an extended time, which very much came across as "punishment" for being a "bad" customer. (2) The "checkout" is a tablet so it is impossible to follow what numbers are being entered and crunched. Furthermore, the ability to do basic math seems to be generally eroded with individual's dependent on technology rather than their brains. Person checking me out could not understand why I wouldn't accept $2.75 as the 50% off price from $5. (3) Men seem to be treated more respectfully and as more knowledgeable than women. (Perspective from woman who does not wear a sign "Yes, I have a workshop and am handy.") (4) And as much as I hate to say this, it seems that my demographic (older white woman) is treated especially disrespectfully, like I'm trying to get away with something when I'm trying to follow poorly communicated store policies, such as those which were "wrongly" interpreted by new/volunteer staff, see #1 above. (5) Over decades of going to the store (from previous location to current location) I've learned to never ask for a price on an item that is unmarked. A single look at me (white woman, reasonably dressed) and ad hoc price given is *very* high. Yes, higher than price actually marked on item when I check back later. (6) There's a 10% off veterans discount which I only heard of because a man in line in front of me asked for it. Not advertised at register or seemingly elsewhere in store (and not listed on any of the VA generated lists of store discounts). (7) A lot of donations are refused or tossed. One of my contractors doesn't bother to call anymore since they don't accept the usable items he offers. A lot of what is received is thrown away rather than priced lower and sold. (Per enlightening conversation with a volunteer regarding an orphan part of a piece of furniture which was not for sale and heading to the dumpster.) (8) I support the Habitat for Humanity mission but so rarely find anything useful and priced well at this location that I only stop by once or twice a year now; the previous location generated many more finds and I went a few times a month. Yes, I'm looking for quirky stuff, not just cheaper than what may be found in a "real" store. read more

Staff tried to tell me a couch wasn't broken when the springs were clearly going every which way under the couch. When they flipped it over and saw the underside, they just walked away to another customer. I might have been willing to buy it if it was reparable and discounted for that reason. But they just ghosted me right there in the store. These people should not be working in customer service. read more

I seriously never thought I would ever shop at a thrift store. Ever. But I also have to admit I have found some amazing things here to re-purpose for home decor and crafts, like frames, door knobs, or wood shutters that would cost a boat load at a barn sale or local hardware store but are dollars here. I would def come here if you are in search of spare home repair parts or furniture, but not for clothing. This place def has dedicated itself to more of a home furnishings place. Don't expect any spectacular customer service, but everyone that I have encountered has been pleasant to deal with and helpful. read more

I am NOT impressed with Restore. Their prices are really high! I don't know if it's the new location, but I saw a rug I currently own and I got it for less...brand new! I also inquired about buying a chest of drawers that they were using for display and the woman I asked not only was very rude--but didn't budge. Wouldn't sell me the piece. Wouldn't even entertain an offer. I love the idea behind Restore and Habitat for Humanity and have purchased things at their old Gaithersburg location--but I won't go back to the new Rockville location. Not worth it. read more

There's a decent array of mostly-used items for sale here. It differs from Salvation Army and Goodwill in that this place has far more furniture and less other stuff. I do like this place, but the staff is so rude. Every time I have been there, I have gotten yelled at for some sin that I was unaware I was committing, or I ha e witnessed someone else getting yelled at. It's very uncomfortable. Updated September 2019: was just there a couple of weekends ago and they were so much more friendly and I didn't get yelled at once. I didn't witness any volunteers getting yelled at either. Recently the front desk service has deteriorated. The last few times that I have been there the cashier has not been upfront and someone had to go looking for her. I was there Saturday afternoon Sept 25 around 4:30 pm and had to wait yet again. I've donated here, and that was pretty straightforward. However, from a buying standpoint, the prices are too high. It's because they use eBay to price items. I have seen them do it when I needed a price before. They look up the items in question on eBay and then price stuff based on what they see the items listed for there. And in my case, they lost the sale, because they asked too much for it. read more

The concept of these Habitat ReStores are pretty cool. Basically how these places work is if you are working on a Habitat for Humanity project anything in the store is yours for the taking. The stock in the stores in supplied by local builders, contractors, or regular joe's who have found themselves with something un-needed or left over from a home constrution event. For the regular schmoe, you can go in and buy whatever you want and the proceeds benefit Habitat projects. A win-win all the way around really. And the prices are GREAT! I have bought HUGE (wall size) mirrors for our home gym for $15 - $25 each. Last week I bought a cool, funky dresser for $25. Its organized but not fancy. It's dusty and dirty. Some of the stuff is pretty funk. BUT, there are deals to be had! They have everything home related - windows/doors/applicances/furniture/fixtures (plumbing & lighting)/tile/paint/etc. And news stuff comes in daily. Tell your friends. Go yourself. It supports a great cause. These stores are nationwide too, so if you are reading this and you do not live in the area, do a yellow page search! read more

Love this store. It helps that I live nearby, because you have to visit on a regular basis to find the best deals. Their inventory turns fast, so when you see what you want, there's no time to meditate over it. You buy it. I saw a fabulous green leather chair that I thought about, came back, and was sad for it. Having moved into a newer, larger house, I wanted to furnish it without bankrupting myself, and I've bought piece by piece very high quality furniture from restore. Life happens and I found myself in a new place to live with only my clothes. This place helped give me new looking furniture. The couch set I got was a designer set manufactured in 2014. The kitchen table and chairs were definitely used, but looked new with a coat of varnish. The day I bought the couch, I found out at the register that all orange tags were 75% off, so the couch set, a bargain at $320, was now down to $80! I also found a new light fixture and a set of dishes. I arranged for pickup using their recommended service. He actually was able to pickup a day earlier than planned. Not cheap, but having just dealt with IKEA, delivery is not cheap these days. Me and my friends are definitely too old for the pick it up yourself route. read more

I'm sorry to say, I had a disappointing experience here. I've always supported Habitat and after a move, I had a large amount of household items to donate. I read their website to make sure everything was within their guidelines, packed it all up in carrier bags and set off. I found the store and looked for the receiving area to drop off items. Couldn't find it. I inquired of a passing employee who was wearing a Habitat shirt and he directed me to a ramp, telling me to back my car up on this ramp and there would be someone inside to help me unload my stuff for donation. So I did. This ramp was narrow and I didn't feel terribly confident backing up and so it took awhile. When I exited my vehicle and opened the rear, there was nobody in the unloading area. I walked into the rear of the store and had trouble finding anyone but eventually did, only to be told by some Habitat person that I should! not! have! used! that! ramp! for! dropping! off! donations! I was icily informed that I would have to drive my car to another area to drop off donations. Well, forget you; I unloaded the heavy bags from the car myself, dumping them in the receiving area and left. Seems this place could be better organized and the employees/volunteers better trained. Also the signage on the building was faded and confusing. If you depend on the goodwill of people as your business model (volunteering in your store, donating your merchandise which you sell for profit), then perhaps you could treat them better? read more

I checked their website and it said they accept windows and plumbing fixtures. Went to drop off a very lightly use Kohler pedestal sink and two windows which were also in good shape. I asked where I could unload them and the rude volunteer said they don't accept donations for items order than 5 years old. Just the housing prices in this country isn't nearly as bad as they make it out to be and I felt terrible driving the items to the dump and throwing them in the dumpster. read more

So this place is great if you need furniture, or need some cheap additions to your home or rental unit. Additions as in lighting/tile/building type stuff. I don't think they're the cheapest for furniture, but the fact that they have a TON makes up for it. Not as cheap as Craig's List, but way better, and you don't have to contact random skeevy people on line. Get on their mailing list and they frequently post free stuff. We LOVE the Habitat for Humanity stores, we've had such great finds at all of them, but this is actually the worst one in the DMV area. I'm not talking about customer service wise, there's nothing wrong with the employees as far as I can tell, they definitely aren't as cool as the other stores, this one is just the most expensive. I get it that they don't want bargain hunters coming in and trying to haggle over every little thing here but the prices they put on things are downright ridiculous and are in no way priced to sell. We saw a lot of things that we actually wanted and would have picked up had they not been so cost prohibitive. In the end, we ended up with one mid century modern magazine end table for $45. Considering that everything in the store is donated by other people, what the heck? A tool for $15, what looked like some kind of butter churn thing for $250, a piece of ceramic art for $195, old, used board games for more or just as much as what you can find at Wal-Mart, what gives? We love going thrifting on the weekends, but we skip this location even if they do have the better quality stuff. read more

I had the most awful experience at the Gudy Drive, Rockville location today.While looking at $7 used drill bits an employee standing next to me asked if I wanted a bag for purchases.I responded no.Manager later approached me asking the same thing.When I asked what she was referring to she said the drill bits I had in my pocket.I was very upset at the accusation and emptied my pockets in front of her with other customers looking on.Of course there was nothing there and she apologized but I still feel horrible and embarrassed.Her apology doesn't erase the way she made me feel. read more

I will donate future items ANYWHERE but here... just dropped off a valuable antique piece among other things -- something that sells online for $700-$1,000. The person who "accepted" our donation was stunningly rude. She grabbed the items out of our hands, essentially threw the furniture on the dock, turned her back to us, and generally acted like she was massively inconvenienced by our charitable donation. Go figure... The Restore in Virginia is leaps and bounds kinder, more accommodating, and more thankful for our donations. If you're into Habitat, dinate there instead. read more
