I was expecting to see a variety of used items much like a thrift store, so I was surprised to see a mixture of new and used items. Most everything they sold was in some way or another a home improvement item, be it actual building materials or items to add to your decor. While the inventory was quite varied and expansive, I felt the prices were a bit high for the offerings. Sure, some were priced just right, but I didn't find anything that was such a steal I just had to buy it. I suppose I can add this place to my list of thrift stores, especially if I want a used door, window, or cabinetry item, but I'll search elsewhere for other items.

However, over the last few months they've been changing their pricing. Items that used to cost under $7 are now over $10. There are some items that they list at what would be typical MSRP. For example, an Under Armor hoodie with a big stain on it was listed for $20. This doesn't limit itself to clothes, I found several single quart Rubbermaid containers for $5 when a pack of 4 is around that. It seems like they only pay attention to the name of the brand and then ignore the condition of the items. The workers are always nice and the service is good. It sucks that they adjusted the prices on everything.

If you thought the restroom situation could not get worse, check the pictures out for yourself. The entire hour I was there, the speaker kept calling for assistance in the restrooms and when I entered, I was absolutely speechless. There was actual on the toilet bowl, no locks on any stalls, and you can expect for there to be no toilet paper or hand soap. I can't even begin to imagine what the men's looks like. I left appalled by my entire experience and encourage someone who has some knowledge in cleanliness to take care of this issue above all else.

One hundred percent of the proceeds of items sold at this shop funds the Helotes Humane Society located right next door. The old house is the thrift shop. A driveway with a sign for drop off will direct you to the back of the house. A large sign is posted on the fence of items they do not accept. All the items sold at the thrift shop are well organized and labeled nicely. There are so many good finds! Lots of antiques and vintage items too. The ladies that work at the shop are very kind, friendly, and helpful. I bought a vintage knit nativity scene that I absolutely love, Christmas lights, coasters, and a tree skirt. They offer military discount on Thursday and senior discount on Friday. I had a blast at this shop and will be back. Besides the Helotes Humane society next door, there's also a small dog park behind it.

The shop is well organized, doesn't smell bad like other thrift shops I've been. The merchandise is organized and clean. They have a very good and clean bathroom and fitting room. I am a regular thrift store hound. I love shopping for boutique clothes and bargains. I understand…read morethat the people who work at these places do not get paid very much, and I don't expect a whole lot, but common courtesy would really be appreciated. I was standing in line at the Goodwill on Potranco Rd. There were three registers open. I guess it was break time for one of the ladies because when she finished waiting on a customer, she just left. I had started to move forward but realized that she was leaving and so I backed up. That was no acknowledgment saying, "so-and-so will be with you in just a moment." There was no one behind me so I backed up behind the pole that showed where you're supposed to stand. 10 minutes later I'm still in line. One of the ladies finished with her customer, I asked, "Should I come forward?" She ignored me. I started to move forward a little bit and then realized she was still cleaning her counter space. At this time there were five people in line with their families behind me. I could not back up so I stood slightly in front of the pole, but still at least 6 ft away from both of the registers. Idela, who was working the other register looks up at me and says, "You need to back up. We expect people to stand behind the pole." I turn around and look at the line behind me, and she says that they all need to back up. Well, I don't see how I'm going to make this happen so I just stand there. Nobody says we'll be with you in a minute. No smiles. No courtesy. Another employee comes back from her break, is standing behind the register and playing with a scarf twirling around and making jokes. Then she opens her register. Finally, they call me forward and the lady at the first register called somebody else forward because she is finally finished putting away hangers. Look, somebody needs to train these employees in just common courtesy with their customers. An, "I'll be with you in a moment," or a smile, "sorry we're taking so long." Just anything to indicate that they understand that we're waiting, that they have noticed us and will get to us as soon as they can. A little courtesy goes a long long way.

Shoe and purse selection was great. Almost all of the items were priced right. I found a bunch of canvas art and prints in nice frames, metal art pieces and amateur oil paintings. If you look hard and use your imagination you can decorate your whole house for a reasonable price. Checking out was an extremely pleasant experience. The clerk wrapped all breakables. She should of gotten a 10 minute break after ringing up our purchases. Because we purchased so much at once we needed a rolling cart and an attendant to escort us to our car. Great experience from start to finish.

I did not take any photos here because I did not plan to review, but after thinking about my visit…read moreand chatting with my friend who was with me, I decided to make a few comments. I realize thrift stores rely on donations, but several items we picked up were marked boutique but appeared more than lightly worn. Many of the clothing items were heavily worn and not in good repair. A necklace behind the counter was missing more than a few gems. The store is organized by categories but the lighting is awful, and makes it seem dirty even if it isn't, and there are dead ends/blocked aisles that require you to turn around and go the other way. Staff seemed friendly enough. I interacted 3 times with a young male teen and he seemed pretty low key minimal interaction but by the 3rd chat we hit it off to to speak. He's probably just slow to warm up. I did try on a few clothing items that I purchased. My friend also found something. But I don't think we will add this to our list of shops to frequent.
