I am really saddened by what I am seeing in Goodwill. There was a time when you could get some…read moreserious bargains, and nice items for very low, affordable prices. You still can, but more and more of their items are very highly priced. I came in looking for some art, plus other items. Prices for some of the bigger art, were in the $39.99 to $49.00 range! I wish this was an exaggeration. Handbags were the same. Most of them were $10 and over, with many of them priced upward of $15.99. Needless to say, I did not purchase anything during this trip. This is a thrift store. They get their inventory for free from donations. And although, their purpose is to provide job training and employment based opportunities, they are still a thrift store, known for being inexpensive and selling used donated goods. I will say the only thing that stood out for me in the store during my stop, was the service. The store staff worked hard, were courteous, and extremely patient given the amount of shoppers in the store.

Boysville Auxiliary Thrift is a spot that I frequent a lot. I would say I come to this spot maybe…read morethree or four times a month. It is big and they have a variety of goods to sell. My favorite thrift in the spot is the books. They are very reasonably priced and you can get quite a few or under a dollar, which is pretty impossible in a lot of other thrift stores. The staff here is friendly and helpful. They have a little boutique section in the front where they keep the newer clothing with tags, and more designer wise items. I do think some of their prices are on the higher end, which is disappointing when you're trying to get some affordable items. Clothing, however, it's usually reduced, so along with the books a good purchase. Not so much their purses, and some of their other accessories. It's worth a visit to search through their treasures and find some good thrifts. This is not my favorite thrift store, but it will be some of the goodwill prices in a pinch.

I realize thrift stores rely on donations, but several items we picked up were marked boutique but appeared more than lightly worn. Many of the clothing items were heavily worn and not in good repair. A necklace behind the counter was missing more than a few gems. The store is organized by categories but the lighting is awful, and makes it seem dirty even if it isn't, and there are dead ends/blocked aisles that require you to turn around and go the other way. Staff seemed friendly enough. I interacted 3 times with a young male teen and he seemed pretty low key minimal interaction but by the 3rd chat we hit it off to to speak. He's probably just slow to warm up. I did try on a few clothing items that I purchased. My friend also found something. But I don't think we will add this to our list of shops to frequent.

The ladies in the store were very helpful, professional, friendly, and accommodating. They had a wide range of clothing in all different sizes neatly arranged. I also loved the designer handbags plan to go back and maybe get me one or two to go with my collection They had furniture as well in the store, seemingly high-quality everything in the store was very nice quality. Further back in the store, they had a few items that may have been there a little long because they did have that old pungent smell. Which stands to reason that they might. They also had a counter where there was jewelry in the front and also in the back of the store. The prices I thought were very good. The skirts that I purchased were $19 so I'm very happy with that. They were very stylish. I've already worn two of them. I'm looking forward to going back. I live a little ways away, but I think it would be worth the drive. What I really liked about the store was that there was a variety of workers from young to middle age to more mature ladies, and a diversity of ladies and cultures that really impressed me. As an example, a Special Edition Collection of Downton Abbey CDs was selling for $24.00. Online, I found a new one sealed for $25.00 and it was one of a few in the $25-28 range. Books varied, but many were priced similar to half price bookstores, as opposed to other thrift stores. My belief is that thrift stores should always err on the cheaper side, thus the name, thrift. I tried on a few cute hats that were really inexpensive! There is aa second room of furniture and other treasures. I found a new pack of needles for $1, a sweet crochet purse for $3 and the staff/owner sold me a slightly in need of love German pyramid music box for $10. I left very happy with my purchases. There is lots to look for here and worth a stop if you are a thrift shopper. It's a cute shop, larger than it seems and friendly staff with good prices.

SCAMMERS! Save yourself the time and shop online or at least somewhere where the owner has some…read morecommon sense. I bought a watch Saturday and was interested in a couple more. Specifically an old fossil listed for $50, a gold plated Nixon priced at $150 and a momentum m1 diver the st moritz edition priced all the way at $250! On Saturday when I was buying the watch I noticed the stop watch seconds dial wasn't working properly. Instead of resetting to 60 (0) the hand wouldn't go past 9 seconds. It wasn't too bid of a deal to me as I won't be doing much timing with the watch it was more for aesthetic purposes, so I told the employee I'd take it for 25. The strap needed to be replaced on it and obviously some gears weren't working in it. She called the owner and the owner told me to come back Monday that they would have it fixed and she wasn't going to go below 40. I show up Monday in between appointments and meet the owner. She's extremely rude to me off the back and acts like it's my fault that I don't speak Spanish (she doesn't speak English). She showed me the fossil and the stop watch dial wasn't still broken. In fact it was a little worse. She called her husband who I guess worked on it and he basically insinuated that I was lying and to give the phone to his wife to verify it wasn't working. She told him exactly what I did and they told me to come back tomorrow. No apology for wasting my time or anything. I tell her I want to talk about the m1 diver that I'm interested in it, that it was just over priced. I asked how she got her pricing and she said she did her own research. I also asked how long the watch had been in the case and she said it wasn't important. I thought this was a pawn shop where haggling is acceptable. A quick photo search of that watch told me 150 on eBay. The gold Nixon was only 112.50 brand new online! I tried to show her this but she just rudely brushed me off and told me 200 was the lowest she'll go. I told her I'm a repeat customer who's looking to buy a couple of things if she would just work with me. I guess she didn't want my money. ‍
