Longtime Fillmore and Haight Street shopper and was in the neighborhood on recent 50% off Saturday and was surprised as to how clean, well stocked (especially womens clothes and shoes) and attentive the staff is! From Management down, everyone was friendly, helpful and lines moved fast! No dressing rooms and too few mirrors but unlike Salvation Army, Goodwill still accepts returns within five days with tags attached and receipt so not quite a loss if the item doesn't fit right when you get it home! Also, there are no shopping carts at this location (similar to Fillmore). I wish I lived closer to this location because it would easily become my "go to". read more

Not really thrift store prices anymore but this is a nationwide trend-- goodwill are contributors to inflation by upcharging donated clothing that they make a 100% profit from . Quality of clothing for me has been above average even if people say the area isn't great, I haven't noticed a correlation. read more

Yes I know it's a thrift store, but I was impressed nonetheless. The staff greeted me immediately as I walked through the door. The store looked organized and bright. Once I got in, I noticed that there were carts on the left side. So I asked if I could use one to help collect my things. Since the area has quite a few homeless people that sadly end up taking the carts, staff have to escort you with the cart in tow. Fortunately, the staff member that helped me out was friendly and appreciative. It was easy and probably one of the best experiences I've had at a donation center. Since I work nearby, I definitely will be back. read more

Friendliest Goodwill I've ever been to! I stumbled upon this spot killing time after I got stranded at Flora Grubb Gardens when my car battery died. I was impressed with the selection they had - it doesn't run as nice as the one in Lower Pac Heights, but there are still great finds (and great prices). However, the standout feature of this Goodwill is how friendly the staff is. I was asked multiple times if I wanted a basket for shopping, something that only happens to me at high-end boutiques (that deem I look rich enough to buy something). I noticed they offered the baskets to all other customers who walked in as well, which was really refreshing. It was also cool to see that this store has regulars - you know it's good when it does! They have a large home goods section with some interesting items (sake set, anyone) and a bookshelf with records. Some other cool finds are a Banana Republic trench coat and J.Crew hoodie. I will be back next time I'm in the area! read more

Date of visit: November 21, 2020 NOTE: Of course it's gonna be a low rating, only because I already know I am walking into a thrift store; a smelly place with items that are used, uncleaned, to be purchased. I wanted to let others know just not to have high expectations, etc. I don't go to Goodwill often because they are way pricier than regular thrift stores, but here I am just exploring. If you like thrifting, I recommend going to a regular thrift store instead. I have not gone thrifting in like, over a year or 2 now so here's my first time after a long time. *They had like 2 securities at the door. *Of course everyone has their masks on. *Items priced very pricey compared to the many other thrift stores I've been to. *Of course, more cleaner than the thrift stores I've been to. (Other thrift stores would be very grossly displayed, things just thrown in a huge nasty pile, idk sitting there for how long.) *They have huge mirrors in case you wanna try on something. (I only tried on blazers so I didn't need to go try out the fitting room, unsure if the fitting room was even open.) *Some items look like new items with original tags that were probably never worn but just donated to a Goodwill. (This happens sometimes.) *The lady who cashed us out told us to place our items at her desk then for us to stand behind that clear shield in front of her register for safety. *I had picked up a purse that didn't have a tag on it so I had let her know about it & she said she'll put a price on it. (Other purses were like so pricey like $10+, so I was hoping she put a very cheap price, which thankfully she did! $4!) *Employee/staff behavior was decent during my visit. Wasn't a lovely vibe but gladly wasn't a shitty vibe. *I had purchased a few things that my boyfriend picked up, so I bought a, I think she charged me 10 cents for a paper bag. My visit was mainly seeking blazers, but there weren't any to my liking so I end up with just that $4 purse for myself. A photo of the purse provided. I'd like to explore more thrift stores to collect cool accessories, decor or cool clothing pieces in the future. Not really Goodwill, but maybe "once in a while" visits if I'm feeling bored or seeking some "rare gem." Every time I visit a thrift store, I always feel dirty like I need a whole ass shower. I used to enjoy this store. The parking has gotten more challenging. The worst part is that when I went in with 3 boxes of new, unused items, there were 2 employees who refused to assist with lifting the boxes. I was instructed to place the boxes in an already-filled container. When I told them that there was another bin (that was empty but facing the wall) they told me to put the items in the white bin. As I was leaving I told the women that folks at the Mission Street facility used to help with boxes. Her response was "things have changed" and the other woman made a snide comment as she then walked away. That is the last time I will donate at this site! My donations pay their salaries!! And I am a lot older than either of those two ladies! read more

So I've gone to this Goodwill for I think 20+ yrs. it's decent except in the past 2 yrs, some of the prices Are ridiculously high. I've seen brand new clothes cheaper at Ross at times vs their used clothing. Even those obv new (manufacturer/high end store donations) they charge more than the brick n' mortar stores. Def not happy that I can't try on clothes there since Covid as I can't buy pants without trying on. You can grab a jacket, etc to try on but not blouses or pants. Taking my chance with Amazon since I can at least return if the fit is off. read more

One of the advantages to going on a Labor Fest event is that you might end up in a neighborhood you hadn't been to before. Yesterday's tour/lecture was given by a Hunters' Point native, Oscar James, who grew up and still lives there. After the tour I explored the nearby strip mall. Although I spent only a half an hour here my first impression was how neat, clean and organized it was. Plus the staff was friendly and welcoming. I immediately made a beeline to their DVD section. There were at least 300-400 used DVDs there. There were DVDs in all categories with plenty of kids' DVDs, comedy, tv shows,action, drama and others. The DVDs sell for $2.49. I ended up buying Coraline, Garden State, Charlie Chaplin shorts and 6 other titles. Look carefully, some discs are missing; I only found a couple that had missing discs. There was also a large selection of CDs and vinyls which I did not go through. I also bypassed the book section. There is a lot of housewares and for some reason lots of white cups, plates and serving dishes plus lots of glassware. The clothing section was also neat and well organized. I only took a quick look at the mens' s and children's stuff. I took a fast look at the women's clothing. I found a blue alpaca wool cardigan with cute llamas on it for $5! So for all the DVDs and sweater my total bill was about $20! I liked this Goodwill a lot. Unlike other thrift stores it was super clean (you can sit or kneel on the floor without needing to take a shower when you're done) and everything was neat and well organized (all the shelves and racks were tidy--nothing falling on the floor). The staff could not have been nicer. I applaud the staff for having such a clean, organized store and a super staff. read more

The best thing about this place is that they don't seem to have a staff member on hand who knows the good from the bad. Where else in the city can you find a plaid Burberry Suitcase for $6? I've never been disappointed at this store--my favorite day was when I asked to see a unicorn pin that was in the jewelry case and the sales guy goes, "You like unicorns? Check out my belt," and he lifted up his shirt to reveal a diamond-studded unicorn belt buckle. If you have a car, they have a parking lot. While you are out here, check out SCRAP (artist re-use store) and Ritual Gardens. read more

I agree with review I read elsewhere here that this Goodwill's customer service has greater improved after the "massive personnel change" that took place over a year ago. It's also seems more organized, and often they even provide a comfortable couch in the book area to sit and relax with a book. I still recall couple of years ago they had this guy, I recall they called him Danny, who acted like such a thug, and word is there were others who didn't want to go there because of him. For all I know, he may be back in jail by now or something. read more

I work right upstairs so I'm in here all the time! I have never seen such a plethora of name brand items at a goodwill before. When they had the $1 rack, you couldn't walk in here without scoring big time! Too bad they did away with that...but can you really beat hardly worn Banana Republic trousers for $4.49? I think not. This place is a bit off the beaten path, so you're less likely to find trendy clothes here, but every now and then you'll find a gem. I like this place because its not crowded full of ironic hipsters, or crowded much at all, really. Its a much better location for housewares (bought $10 of forks and spoons!), and random crap (how do i even begin to explain the mounted submarine miniature thing i got?!?) But I did find myself the most adorable little red sundress by accident, you'll do a lot better if you stick to stuff, and away from the clothes. read more

Great stuff, nicely displayed, clean. Uber friendly staff. My sister lives in SF & I consulted her about which was her number 1 fave thrift store. She told me 3rd & Evans. She included that she "almost exclusively" buys from this GW. So when I came from Sacramento to thrift shop with a friend visiting from Dallas, that store was our first stop. I'm so torn about giving up one of my most favorite top secret spots. Top secret because it's a rare breed that treks to the Bayview to hunt for treasure on a regular basis! Sigh. However, I want to give it the props it deserves. I hit this spot on my way home from the Flower Market in SF several times a month for two reasons: Treasures and ambiance. I have never been to a thrift store that makes me smile as much as this one does on a regular basis. First of all, they have, hands down, the best freaking soundtrack EVER. Old school soul and R&B without commercials. Love it. Love that at any given time at LEAST three employees are singing their hearts out and dancing to the songs while working. I never had that much fun at work ever. I kinda start singing too and no one stares at me which is a good thing. :) We all got a little TOO funky when some James Brown came on, but that's a totally different kind of post. So yeah, it's super fun music ALL the time, which takes away any, "Oh my God I'm sort of in the hood!" fears anyone could have. Treasure. Yes. Lots of it. But let me qualify this by saying it depends what you are looking for. I know they seem to get tons of name brands like Nine West, Burberry, Banana Republic, Seven, Levis, Lucky and so much more, but I'm usually on the hunt for furniture and cool old books. BUT, I did score my daughter an amazing vintage wool Peacoat for 4.99, a vintage leather cowboy belt for a dollar, and a hot ass pair of leather motorcycle boots for 12.99. Yeah, I know you're jealous but don't hate. Okay so the staff and the people that come in (including me?) are so worth a visit I can't even properly describe it. A couple weeks back I went in and there was a very small gentleman (4'?) who might possibly not be entirely free of drugs, and just maybe he might not always be of sane mind, but he was having a conversation with an equally small woman, who was quite possibly Lil' Kim (in incredible leopard spandex pants with a bleached blonde wig AND blue contact lenses), and they were discussing how he was training to compete in the next Olympics. As a boxer. In the heavyweight category. She was very impressed and was telling him all about her recording career in LA and how she was fixing to do a duet with some big time rapper whose name I have not yet heard (I'm a little out of touch). Anyway it was so awesome I could hardly bear it and wished I had a recording of the whole thing. And that happens ALL the time there! I bought a ton of shit that day just because of my good mood. I got a gorgeous antique table I've now refinished and sold, a giant mirror, two side tables and a shit-ton of great old books. Love it. Need it. Will never tire of it. read more

Nice selection but price are rather high! For a Goodwill! Take note that the vneighborhood is pretty sketchy. Parking is really tight with very cramped spaces. When I was leaving I was putting my kid in her car seat and some guy parked next to me came up to me and said you better not scratch my car I'll have to call your insurance company. I said don't worry I'm not going to do it. And my kid was still getting into her car and he was trying to close the door on her foot. Otherwise a good store but kind of scary area. If I'd known before I got there, I probably would have reconsidered going. read more

This Goodwill is one of the best Goodwills I have ever shopped at. Certainly, the store has character. The place feels very clean and tidy, attended by friendly staff, plays awesome soulful music every time, and has great clothes for awesome prices. The tidiness was a clue that this store also stocked items with a discerning eye. Every time I've been here, I've purchased something--including a soft knit cotton J Crew Hoodie, a few button down shirts, and a Banana Republic peacoat that was like new. Also, some Goodwills sometimes charge hefty prices for certain items, but this Goodwill is very reasonable. Thrifting here is a great way to stay stylish while saving money. This Goodwill should be a role model for other Goodwills. read more
