Initially I…read morewas setting them at 4 stars until I pulled my covers back on the first night to find several hairs on the sheets. I was disgusted and immediately called reception to notify them. They stated they were going to change my room...but when they came up they only had the suites available on they had a house keeping colleague come in and change the whole bed and review all the cleaning. I was exhausted by this point. Then more and more things start to unfold so they are now just at a 1 star. A Lady guest walked into my room. backstory is she was a new guest and received her key from the front desk from one lady and then she stated it didn't work came back down and told another colleague the incorrect number and without checking to see if the guest was correct about the room number she gave her the new key card to my room...just imagine how shocked I was when some random woman walks in my room...that is a safety hazard. I called and walked down to complain and all they kept saying were sorry. (Would it only had been sorry if something happened to me?...not a good feeling at all.) Not all the equipment in their small gym works. The last safety certificate on the wall in the gym is from 2011. They also do not have any type of cleaning wipes to properly wipe down the equipment in the gym. There is just hand sanitizer by the window seal. There is a TV and a remote but I didn't try to turn it on due to them not having wipes to wipe down the equipment. The railing in the elevator just randomly broke when another guest put their hand on it while awaiting to get to the ground level. They do serve breakfast. It's a traditional English breakfast. Pork sausage, ham, beans, hashbrowns, scrambled eggs, grilled tomatoes, white or brown toast (also have gluten free toast that is wrapped) , yogurts, some fruits, mushrooms and there are pastries as well. It's a open Buffet style here. If you are trying to be close to central London you may want to try another hotel as this one is about 30 mins away in a car without traffic to central. With traffic and going through the tunnel it can take well over an hour. I do have to say that there is one housekeeping lady which I am going to get her name, she is beyond amazing! She is thorough and prompt about getting what is needed. She is so polite as well! All in all if this wasn't a booking that was placed for me, I would have left sooner.

The tv remote was under the telly ythough so if you are navigating around with a wheelchair make sure you find it before getting settled, same with the air con. In all honestly we didn't spend a whole lot of time in here, more just to lay our heads for the night before seeing some friends local to here, then galavanting around London and seeing Lizzie! Rooms are basic as you expect, they have a tv and your usual 'kitchen' products - a kettle and 2 mugs, and then some tea & coffee. Bedding was clean which is a big deal as some places are lazy on this. Unless you're staying in your room or the hotel for a prolonged period, Travelodge standard does the job quite comfortably in my eyes!

I booked 1x double bed for two using the Hilton Honors app, but I was upgraded in the days leading up to my stay. Thanks, Hilton. My flight arrived late on the 22nd, so I used the app to inform the hotel that I would be checking in late. The hotel was easy to find, and although I checked in really late (after midnight), the hotel staff was friendly and welcoming. The room was a bit small, but it was sufficient. The bathroom was clean, but there were no wash cloths available, and since I was leaving that same day, I didn't even bother asking for one. I love that they have large bottles of body wash, shampoo & conditioner, and hand soap for guest use instead of single use toiletries. The complementary breakfast was amazing. I had mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, ham, and hashbrowns. There was also this egg roll looking vegetable log. It was delicious. There was also a cereal bar and a waffles maker. The coffee maker had options for various coffees, teas, and hot beverages. I think the breakfast was the best part of my stay.

I judge hotels based on their showers & mattresses. This place came out very well on both accounts. The rooms were fairly small but adequate with a king sized bed. The bathroom was adequately appointed. The included breakfast was okay but least impressive of the 4 hotels we stayed at. It price was good & it was centrally located, if you can say anything is centrally located in England. I recommend this place in Croydon/Norbury.

We also had dinner there which was super tasty, they have great selection of draft beers and wine. Breakfast was included in our rate, we were offered coffee and juice straight away, I ordered avocado and poached eggs, and that did not dissappoint either. I should mention as well that the staff there is very friendly you can tell they enjoy working there. Great vibes! I will highly recommend Tulse Hill Hotel, we really enjoyed our stay.

There wasn't much variation on what we could order - seemed that most folk went for steak or burger so it would've been nice to have been allowed to venture onto the main menu instead. I had the rib eye steak. It tasted fine but I have had better. A friend had the burger, and although it looked nice, it certainly didn't warrant the cost! All in all though the bar felt comfortable, the garden area to the rear had plenty of seating and space to sit at the front too. Music was good and at the right level, and conversations were easily had. Will definitely go back at some point - can't not really as it's fairly local.

As a single woman travelling alone in London I was very relieved to be welcomed by Toni at the Astra - nothing was too much trouble for her and she showed me to a room that was small but lovely and clean and cosy. Breakfast was a make it yourself affair in the small kitchen which suited me fine but if you want waitress service then this might not suit you. I would definitely stay here again and I think the Astra offers value for money in a place that feels a bit more like someone's home than an impersonal hotel.
