It's been a long time since I've last gone to Goody Goody Gum Drop, and things have definitely changed. The candy selection is still great; however, I was definitely disappointed in how low the taffy assortment was on the day we visited. I remember there being countless unique and different flavors to mix and match in a bag, and there were maybe 10 total that day (none of which were super uncommon either). Amazing place. When I went here for my mothers birthday, there wasn't too many people there. I like the saltwater taffy and there are a lot of flavors for it. (Personally my favorite is bubblegum) There is a lot of candy here and it is hard to choose. It's a better candy place than any others in the Wisconsin dells. Goody Goody Gum Drop: The largest candy store in Wisconsin was founded in 1975, when Pete Helland decided to open a candy store in front of his family's amusement park Wisconsin Dells. It's second location in the heart of Downtown Dells wasn't opened until 1991 and features a massive lollipop sign that attracts sweet-toothed customers like a bug zapper light to insects. I've been visiting the store with each Dells vacation since I was a kid in the early 90s, and it continues to wow me to this day. Very cute, big candy store. There is a huge selection of candy. A lot of retro candy from when I was a kid. The staff was nice and friendly. I realize the store is in a tourist area but the prices are high. I actually put some candy back because it would have been $80! The small prepackaged bags of candy don't work well. Once you open the bags, there's no way to close them. The candy spills all over. I couldn't eat the turtles because the chocolate was so hard I was afraid I was going to break a tooth. Goody Goody Gum Drop Candy Kitchen is one of two sweet treat places I have come to when in this part of the Dells *on the same day*. I am here for the nostalgia of the rock candy typically, and whatever else piques my interest that day. There is an ice cream spot in the back. My friends and I enjoy sitting at a table in the back people watching and chatting to extend/end our Dells day trip days. we went in there the other day to get some candy and the front desk lady was rude, the building is full of foreigners working there, some lady next to us was checking her items out and she told the man that she had a coupon and was staying at a motel down the street, we were also staying at a motel down the street, we had a coupon to but forgot it in the hotel room in the coupon book. (gave from motel) we told her like 5 times we had a coupon and we spent over $60 there from the night before to, SHE completely ignored us!!! and didn't say a word, but when the cashier was helping out the lady with her coupon she got to be able to use it, when we weren't, also they are rude when asking for an time or when asking for gelato, although they have a wide variety and yummy chocolate!! read more

I want this place to be better but it is a huge nostalgia hit for me. I came here when I was a kid, so I had to go back to bring my own kid, too. There was a large selection of candy, dont get me wrong. But you could tell that the taffy selection in particular was lacking. So, maybe dont come here for that. I ended up getting old fashioned fruit slices - they have a ton of wild flavors! These are so hard for me to find anywhere, and the selection here was great. HOWEVER, it is pretty overpriced. We walked out and we'll take our $80 (I was going to get a bag too) and head to a normal candy shop. If I wanted a couple bags of prepackaged candies, I'd head to Walmart down the road. A touristy candy store located in the mecca of tourist destinations, Wisconsin Dells. This place also has a small ice cream store attached. You can't miss it as it is bright pink and looks like something from a children's nursery rhyme. I wasn't all that impressed with their selection - unless you are in the mood for every possible color of M&M's or Jelly Belly Jelly Beans. This is one of the three locations of Goody, Goody Gum Drop. One is in downtown Wisconsin Dells, one is right next to the zoo, and the last is located inside of one of the hotels at the Wilderness Resort area. All of them are relatively easy to get to if you're in the area where they're at. This one seems to be the easiest since it has its own parking lot and is visible from the street. Pros: -Tons of candy to choose from. I mean, tons. Rock candy, lots of jellybean flavors, typical candy flavors, toffees, cordials, chocolate-covered Oreos, truffles, bark, fudge, and TONS more. Insane amounts of candy. -An adorable store presentation. Everything is really organized, and it's really easy to find. -They have non-candy, impulse items to purchase as well. Nothing you'd come to the store to specifically buy, but it might be stuff you'd add on. Cons: -Prices are kinda expensive. Candy apples run at $9 each. Most candies are $12 a pound - including Hershey's Kisses. You have to watch how much you buy here because it adds up quickly. -Employees, while friendly, didn't seem particularly knowledgeable about what they sold. This shop has the typical tourist pricing of the shops in downtown (three ice cream cones came to almost $18) but that's not unexpected. My main observation though is that the staff doesn't seem to be happy working there. Overpriced ice cream & old chocolate This place relies too much in its good location (right beside Timbavati Animal Park) that it is able to overprice its ice cream. The whole store smells so good (chocolate-y and ice cream goodness) but the abundance of chocolate goods on display makes me wonder how fresh those bonbons or truffles are. We got ice cream: two orders of two-scoop cups at a little over $6 per cup. Yikes! Ice cream was ok. Nothing special about them. Tables are sticky, too. Staff are super nice. Kudos to them! I went to the store to buy candy they had truffles another chocolate covered candy in the display case at the counter. As I was browsing the store I noticed the guy behind the counter had plastic gloves on but he took his right hand and rubbed it over the top of his head fixing his hair. When I went to the counter to look at the candy he asked me what I wanted, I said I don't know but you're gonna have to change your clothes cause I saw you rub your head. And then I'm looking and I asked him about a sample and he kept telling me the price and no samples I said OK Then I said but you're gonna change your gloves right and he told me the price again, he didn't understand what I was saying obviously. While this place is cute with an adorable name, it's just in my opinion, wildly overpriced. I have a hard time justifying paying what they were asking for things I can get at the box stores. I know it's a cute novelty candy shop, but I guess I am just that cheap. They did have some good looking specialty items behind the counter in the cases and one kid was eating a really good looking caramel apple, but I didn't feel like waiting in the long lines and trying to maneuver in an out of the cramped and tight space. The candy store itself had a great selection of different candy. However, before entering there is a sign that says no bathrooms for use. We took our three small kids to pick out their own bag of candy. We helped them with that. My husband and I looked in the other cases for a treat for ourselves. A girl from behind the counter had to help with that. She was really rude and unfriendly. She looked annoyed that she had to help us. As we were paying my daughter had to go to the bathroom. Seeing the sign I and her attitude, I knew that was not a choice. After spending $76 on candy and a stuffed animal for my daughter I would expect a thank you. We did not get that. There are several candy stores along this strip of Wisconsin Dells. What got me into the door of Goody Goody Gum Drop was that they offered 27 different flavors of soft serve ice cream. Twenty-seven! Besides the soft serve there was the promise of salt-water taffy, and perhaps some chocolate, figured we'd need some sweets for the rest of our trip up North. The taffy was very good. I thought it was a little pricey--I want to say $13/pound, but I liked that I could choose the flavors and number of pieces I wanted--that helped with the price, as well as not getting stuck with some unwanted flavors. Like Grape--bubble gum ok, salt water taffy? that's too weird. The flavors I did choose were good--not overly sweet either. The ice cream (strawberry) was just OK. I was hoping for very creamy soft serve but it was more icy than creamy. The servings are huge though. I asked her for a kiddie size and it was still huge. Good strawberry flavor. We were so excited to have the experience Goody Goody promises. I brought my kids and we went to town. Unfortunately it was.aweful. 11.99 a pound. I bet the bins.haven't been turned since the summer. Salt Water Taffy was hard and had no taste at all. My wife loves chocolate she said hers needed to be sucked it was so hard. You couldn't bite through. Cute little place to stop in the Dells. We took the kiddos for some I've cream and loved looking at all of the candy and the cute train that runs on a track near the ceiling. Although I've grown into a responsible adult, I'm still a candy junkie at heart. I absolutely love this place!!! Every time we are in the dells, we stop here so I can drop waaaay too much money on overpriced candy by the pound - and let my kids go nuts and get their own pound, hence becoming the worlds best mom in their eyes and Michelle Obama's worst nightmare. What I love about this place is that I can pick my own gummi bears by COLOR/FLAVOR!!! Love that. Green, white and red, please!! Prices are quite high as someone has mentioned before but the selection is huge. Loose candy is 12.99/pound. You can find like 50 kinds of gummy products and a whole ton of chocolate covered items and all the novelty items (candy cigarettes etc) you can shake a stick at. Variety: There was a broad selection of candy, chocolate, and ice cream including gelato. Quality: The flavor of everything we bought was scrumptious and hit the spot. The Bad- Price: Every establishment needs to make a profit to stay in business, but this store gouges you. It became a joke while we were looking at the different items. "How much do you think this costs?" If you guessed about five times what it should you were usually in the ballpark. And the phrase "they nickel and dime you" came to mind. After having bought $100 dollars worth of candy, chocolate and ice cream, I asked if we could have a couple cups of water. The lady behind the counter held up a bottle of water with an indulgent smile. Service: They may have been having a bad day, but none of the staff seemed welcoming, friendly, or helpful. Amenities: Not that it's mandatory, but there is no public bathroom anywhere close. You'll have to drive elsewhere if your kids need to use the facilities after spending your money here. Conclusion- We make at least an annual trip to the Dells. While I find the shop to be appealing and the product well made, we won't be patronizing this business again because of it's price gouging, lack of service, and unwelcoming staff. read more

Overall was a nice candy store. We arrived about ten minutes before closing. While the four girls working there were starting to clean up we never felt rushed and they were more than helpful. While I agree with the other reviewers that the prices are outrageous, I don't know that I've ever seen a candy store whose prices I didn't feel we're outrageous, let alone one in a tourist town.
