Greedy/overpriced mechanics. Fine for an oil change but that's about it. Even with just an oil change they will always find a "problem" and make you feel like you HAVE TO fix this "problem" or your car will break down. Went in for an oil change ended up having to flush power steering fluid and replacing a motor mount. Ran me close to $800.00. Shame on me for going in a 2nd time because my brakes were making noise on a Friday night. So Saturday morning I called my local shop. They were busy and couldn't take me until Monday. I didn't want to drive to and from work with bad breaks so I called Goodyear knowing they were open Sundays and I could do without the car for the weekend. They called me back and said I had to completely change my rotors, new break pads and the whole shebang for both rear tires...I didn't want to drive with bad breaks so I went ahead with it for another $800.00+. When my car was ready for pick up I received a call saying my steering wheel was making a screeching noise when turning (which was NOT happening before I gave them the car). I was told my power steering pump was in terrible shape and it needed to be replaced, they quoted me $400.00+ for that which I refused. Upon refusal the mechanic made me feel I was making a terrible mistake. He took me to my car and had me turn the steering wheel and it sounded awful. I immediately knew something was fishy because it was such a loud scary noise that sounded like bad friction when my wheels turned. I still didn't want to give them any more of my business so I drove it home like that. I googled the noise and found it was the power steering fluid not getting into my system because the mechanic had topped off the fluid WAY over the "max" line under the hood. I dumped some of the fluid and turned my wheels to let the system pull in some of the fluid and it completely fixed the problem. Now my steering is smoother than ever. The only reason it gets the 2nd star is because they're open on Sundays so I can get work done and have my car back for work on Monday but it will be an absolute last resort. I've call other shops on Saturday morning and been told they were busy and couldn't take my car until Monday. Which would be fine if it weren't a major problem. End note for everyone, do a little bit of research before bringing your car here or agreeing to any work done. Know what you need and dont need to do to your car.If you walk in blind you will leave broke. read more

I popped a tire on my way home from work and they gave me a new one AND rotated them in less than 30 minutes!

I asked the mechanic to do me a favor and install in cabin air filter as I have shoulder problems and I had the filter with me. It was in a very uncomfortable location. He said ok and I gave him $5. A few days later AC was not working properly. Waited for Weekend to look and filter was never installed. The guy threw out the filter and the piece to seal off the area! I could only imagine the type of work I got on my brake fluid flush! Don't go to this place. Go to a real mechanic shop. read more

Went to this place back in 1999 and never returned. Be careful if you bring your car in for an inspection. They will look for any excuse to fail you so that you have to have your car serviced by them. They got me once, just once before I went somewhere else for an inspection. My car was in basically good condition. They called me to say that I needed my headlights aligned and that I should have the brake service done . How do headlights become un-aligned???? I asked what the brake service was, and they told me that they clean them and that makes them "better." Like a sucker, I went for the headlight re-align and the brake service. (BTW, no other repair shop has ever said I needed these services, before this event or ever since!) Every other place I bring my cars, it's just $37.00 for the inspection. This place, the inspections costs hundreds. The last straw was when I brought my car in for some other issues. They called me with a laundry list of parts to replace, so I went to an auto parts store, purchased the parts and brought them to Goodyear. Since I bought my own parts for installation, the manager, Luke, called me and asked me sarcastically if I bring my own eggs to a diner when I go in for breakfast. He said he'd do the repairs, but I should "throw him a bone" and let him replace at least one part because they apparently don't make enough money on the $75.00 per hour labor charge. I asked if they had started work yet (hoping to get my car out of there before they start) but they had already started. I went there to pick it up and they did a decent job BUT...all of a sudden, my car was running very rough once it warmed up. Brought it back to them (the next day), they said I needed an oxygen sensor. I have a feeling that they spitefully put a bad sensor in my engine to get back at me for not allowing them to put their own overpriced parts in. So, I had them put a "new" sensor in (it was probably my old, good one!). They got their way: They made me pay for a new part. Never went back. They really deserve negative 5 stars. read more

Bring my car in last weekend leaking coolant . Head tech .Calls me and says finds no leak bone dry underneath car. But does need a tranny service. Im like please check it again . And remember my car is their . Because i saw a coolant leak. So i know theirs something wrong already with my car. So he doesnt have too call me and try too sell me repairs. No he is more worried about selling me a tranny repair. Im like yeah i need a tranny service . But coolant leak please check again. So he calls me back im thinking he found leak . No its your cars ready. So i go pick it up. and ask too speak too him about leak . He goes oh you and that leak . And laughs. Like im on drugs or crazy. So soon as i get home coolant starts leaking . Guess what it was water pump and is at repair shop. Across the street . Jeep dealer ship .From what i gather goodyear doesn't have type of mechanic for serious repairs. What shop turns away money? Maybe they can stick too using drill gun and putting screws in sidewalls . And coming in and saying cant plug its a side wall. And your like when i came hear nail was in tread not sidewall . But too late your tires done now .Oh well New tire time. And you dont want too replace just one tire speech .Ive given you thousands over the years now im done. read more

Great overall experience. I took my car here for the oil change service & inspection on 7/26/15. They were very flexible accompanying my appointment day & time and I even was able to use a $10 off coupon. The worker at the front desk was very friendly and nice. He later called to tell me when my car would be ready & recommended one thing that needed to be done to my car but it was up to me, no pressure. Big difference from when I last took my car to Westbury Toyota and rather than give me an option they told me I needed $2,000 worth of work to be done to my car and every reason under the sun it should be done now & not to wait. So thank you Good Year for giving me such a positive experience at this location. read more

They took me last minute on fourth of July when I found a nail in my tire. Comfortable, clean waiting area and friendly, professional service. No charge - free tire repair. Never knew they also did oil changes and tunes ups. Will definitely be back. read more

Since I was in the area and needed an oil change before heading on vacation, I decided to give them a try. The oil change experience was fine and they rotated my tires for free...however, they cracked the lock nut on my rear right wheel and didn't offer to fix, etc. It wasn't cracked when I brought the car in and when I took a picture and showed it to my friend, it also seems they tightened it crooked, which caused the crack. Needless to say, I won't be going back and even though they try and upsell me at my local Subaru dealer, at least I know they can get the job done without screwing things up even further and costing me even more money. read more

I wanted to write this to tell everyone about how wonderful goodyear on Hempstead tpke is. I went in bc I was with my baby daughter and my tire had a huge hole and was leaking air... I was so upset and worried. I met with David Harrell, and he was truly amazing. He saw that I was upset and knew I had the baby with me and got me in and out. He went above and beyond to be kind to me when I was so upset. He was honest, considerate, and a compassionate professional. I can't thank him enough, and I truly appreciated what he did! read more

WATCH OUT!!!! I just needed to have four tire valves replaced (easy / quick job). Received four price quotes from local tire dealers. Goodyear was lowest at $50 labor and $1.50 per valve. Made an appointment for 8:00AM on Saturday (10/29/16). Walked in the door just behind another customer with an 8AM appointment. When entered into computer, the price of both the labor and parts were higher. When questioned, I was told it is the pricing in the system that I would be charged. They were now the highest of the four price quotes I received. When asked how long it would take, I was told 1 hour. The customer just ahead of me was done by 8:30. They did not take my vehicle until 8:45, and did not process me out until 9:30 (although my vehicle was done and sat in the bay for 15 minutes). I felt mislead on a number of issues. Good thing that just before leaving, I questioned as to whether the lug nut key was left in the car. It was not, as it was still in the shop drill. When I explained my dissatisfaction with the multiple issues, they responded with "Have a nice day". Not saying all Goodyear's are like this, but this location obviously has problems. Needless to say, neither of my three vehicle will be going back to this location. I'm sure you will get better service at either Firestone, Mineke or House of Tires, all within a 3 minute drive on Hempstead Turnpike. read more

Took my car here on 8/18/2015 for 4 tiresan alignment and inspection. Upon picking car up was told did not pass inspection that needed a ball joint replaced. Upon driving car home noticed that steering wheel was not centered it was to the left and car was pulling to the left. Next morning called Goodyear told them what happened they said bring car back they will fix alignment. Before going to Goodyear took car to different service station to get inspection and it passed. Took car to Goodyear for realignment. Upon picking car up was told ball joint needed to be replaced. That we knew. Drove car home and almost had a heart attack. Car was making loud banging noise coming from right front tire. Sounded like tire was going to fly off car. Nervously drove car home. Next day husband took car to mechanic was told ball joint was completely broken and so was right front shock. My car was not making any noises the 2 times I took it there. So I ask how does a shock break while in Goodyear. They broke it for me they thought they were dealing with a sucker and could pull a fast one. Please stay away from this place they are thieves. They will rob you. I will never go here again. Called Goodyear informed them about this store also contacted better business bureau. Hope this helps. And pray they don't do to someone else. read more
