I took everything home to give it a fair shot, so here we go: Mashed Potatoes - Definitely better with gravy. The homestyle potatoes, with the peel included, were a nice touch. Without gravy, they needed salt and pepper. The gravy itself had a brown mushroom flavor that gave the potatoes some much-needed taste. Hushpuppies - Crispy on the outside, soft and full on the inside. No complaints here. Baked Beans - A complete miss. No flavor at all--just bland, straight-out-of-the-can vibes. Ribs - They pulled apart easily, but despite the light saucing, they had no real flavor. Brisket - Had a nice smoky taste, but definitely needed sauce. Unfortunately, the vinegar-based sauce they provided was a mistake--thin, watery, and just bad. Chicken - The best thing I tried. Lightly sauced, with a good smoky flavor that actually carried through the meat. I found them at the Piedmont Farmers Market in Concord when I was in the area. They do come down to Charlotte too, but it seems like they're in the Concord area a lot. I really appreciate that they have a good variety of interesting non-chocolate flavors. I got 3 flavors: lemon cookie crunch, golden cookies 'n cream, and cake batter. All three are very good. The cake batter was out of this world. It literally tasted like I was eating funfetti cake batter. The golden cookies 'n cream was my second favorite. It had huge chunks of golden Oreos. The consistency of their ice cream is different. It's kind of gooey and creamy. I love it. I will say, it's a little pricey. They have what seems like half pints and for the three I got it was $21. It was so good that it was worth it for a treat though. If you haven't tried their ice cream, you're missing out!

They said the order had just been put out and she assumed someone else must have picked up our order. Personally I think they just dropped our order and said someone else had picked it up so they didn't seem responsible for forgetting us. I could be wrong and they just gave it to someone without checking their ticket/receipt though, which is still not efficient. They remake it and got it wrong: my husband ordered fries but they gave him tots and at this point we're already late to where we're supposed to be so he just ate them. I also got tots and be warned you get the tiniest little cluster of less than a dozen of them and mine were somehow cold. Then as we left I asked for a refill of the diet Cherry Lemon Sundrop I ordered at the beginning and saw her put cherry Fanta in it (not diet) so I mentioned that and she said that's how they do diet CLS: it's half diet sundrop and half cherry Fanta. Yet when I asked when I ordered my drink if they had diet CLS, she said yes, which is a lie, so if you order that be prepared that it's half cherry Fanta instead and plan on the extra calories. Overall very frustrated with the portion sizes, the extreme wait, the lack of system for checking tickets before giving out food, and the fact that we only got a half hearted apology for all their mistakes.

Chocolate and peanut butter, super thick and creamy! Tots were cooked perfectly as well. It's not the prettiest spot inside nor does it have a ton of seating but the food, prices and service highly make up for it!! It was clean and the vibe was welcoming!
