They change up their tasting menu's often, so you never know what you'll be experiencing. Today featured Spanish wines from Celler De Roure. The experience was pleasing with the wine being displayed in top notch Spiegelau wine glasses. It definitely elevated the experience. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the moment we walked in. Rather than greeting us or welcoming us, the employee immediately said, "Hey guys, by the way, we close in two minutes." There was no hello or friendly interaction. As we ordered, one member of our party asked to sample a couple of flavors, and the employee seemed visibly inconvenienced. When I asked if they had caramel drizzle, her response was simply, "No," with no warmth or attempt to offer an alternative. I completely understand that arriving close to closing can be frustrating for employees, and we were mindful of the time. However, the doors were still open, the posted business hours indicated the shop was open until 11:00 p.m., and we were respectful customers who knew what we wanted and intended to order quickly. What was most disappointing wasn't that they were closing soon--it was how unwelcome we were made to feel. As first-time visitors to Charlotte and Ballantyne, this wasn't the hospitality we expected. Customer service matters just as much during the last few minutes of business as it does throughout the rest of the day. I hope this feedback is taken as an opportunity to remind staff that every customer deserves to feel welcomed, regardless of when they walk through the door during posted business hours.

I ordered the cheesecake and it was garnished with caramel popcorn, which added a nice touch to look at, but the popcorn was stale so I don't really think it was necessary, but it did make the plate look pretty. Recently I visited the shop and was popular surprise that they were offering shop made ice cream. Although brownies are not currently on the menu until next month I was able to purchase their vanilla based ice cream that was full of brownie pieces and dark chocolate. I have nothing but good things to say about chocolatier Blair Potts and his friendly wife Margo. Because this is a chocolatier shop and everything is made from scratch, of course the costs are not the same as your average candy store or supermarket. Everything I've ever purchased from that shop was absolutely amazing and worth every penny.

I wasn't aware it had a time limit, if I had know I would've thought twice about gifting from this establishment. It's embarrassing for us to give a gift that was ultimately unusable. I understand running a small business is challenging, but I wish I would've at least been made aware of their gift card policy in advance.
