I went in for nerve pain and myoclonus jerks as well as just the concern that my nerve pain and shingles were getting worse. I had PA John Luna who didn't even listen to my concerns. I told him I had shingles and I had already been to my regular doctor for it, I told him this was the first time I was being seen for it (we did mychart and phone calls with my PCP to diagnose it) but my pcp had been unable to get me in. John Luna told me he didn't have "the license" to prescribe Gabapentin and that it was a controlled substance ('very recently' he said which I thought was interesting, considering I was put on a trial prescription less than 6 weeks ago for the shingles pain and had my roommate pick it up). I did't go in looking for gaba to begin with, I was hoping for a second round of anti-virals, or tests to make sure that my nerves weren't dying. John Luna also put "pain and numbness" on my referral which the neurology department hardly wanted to even accept because they "don't treat pain" instead of mentioning anything about the shingles that are actively diagnosed and still on my body. I have an appointment in October, so I hope that my nerves aren't fried by then! I have never been treated so badly and I'll be filing a formal complaint as well.

I visited on 1/20/25 with an elbow injury and received good care, but that was the last of the good experiences with Duke City. I have Medicare and an excellent supplement through Blue Shield, and the combination of the two usually results in no cost care. I started receiving bills in April, indicating that Medicare had adjusted and paid a total of $107.45, leaving a balance of $97.71. Any normal provider would have then submitted the balance due to Blue Shield, and Duke City actually did this. After spending hours on phone calls with Duke City Billing and Blue Shield, I discovered that Blue Shield had written a check for $97.71 to Duke City on 2/14/25, and the check was deposited by Duke City on 4/1/25. They have apparently lost track of the payment, and they continue to bill me as recently as today. Blue Shield called them on 6/16/25 and gave them the payment information again. Since Duke City billed me again today, 7/7/25, I called their billing department for the fourth time. The agent noted that they had received all the payment information from Blue Shield, and she didn't understand why it had not been credited, and she indicated that a "supervisor" with access to banking records would need to look into this matter. This is the exact same answer that I received a month ago. Duke City also submitted duplicate claims to Blue Shield on 5/23/25 and 6/13/25 that were denied since they were already paid. If you have Medicare and a supplement, I would strongly suggest that you avoid Duke City Urgent Care at all costs. The billing problems far outweigh the excellent patient care that they provide. Very disappointing.

Never had a long wait and always got some kind of help, which is what you want in an emergency, or if you're in pain. NP Deana was fantastic, a huge smile behind her mask. Amber, at the front desk was, as well. I hope we never need to use places like this, but if we do, I don't miss the factory feel of some of the larger, busier ERs or Urgent Care places I've been to.
