Still amazing after all these years! Plates, nachos, asada fries, tacos, burritos? Yes! AND, their breakfast burritos are bomb. They're open 7 days a week right now, breakfast only served until 11. Super kind people working and whether it's to-go or eat there, their food will always hit.

Still the best shrimp in town! It's been years since I was in town and I am happy to report that they still have it! I asked what the cashier's favorite shrimp dish is and was pointed toward taquitos. Holy moly those are good. The chicken tacos were bomb Tom. We got come in a bottle next door and Carrie's it all home for a feat for for royalty. Great service, great salsa bar and excellent food!

    Birria quesadilla

The quesadilla with birria was soooo good! They have a salsa bar with salsa verde, habanero salsa, jalapeños, limes and radishes. The salsa is SPICY and tasty. Staff were friendly and all around great spot for takeout.

    Nice painting

Glowing reviews from devoted fans, allusions that shrimp burritos were the best in town, that they could do no wrong, etc etc. Curiosity and the chance of finding the one Mexican place to outdo the rest made my lovely companion and not so lovely me drive to Gordo Burrito. First impressions at around 12:30 PM: busy (which is always a good thing) patrons coming and going, a nice outfit of what appeared an all women crew in constant preparation, and knowing that when it comes to good food there are no barriers I ordered from a congenial attendant named Jose the Shrimp Burrito for around $14. Tried to encourage them to make it count, meaning pretty darn good! Even went as far to insinuate I came from headquarters, whatever the heck that meant. Turns out there is a convenience store right beside Gordo. Not a bad option. Burrito arrived wrapped in aluminum foil, not an impressive sight in size. One half went to the beauty, gave her the smallest of the two, the other for the beast not much bigger. Removed the wrapping, looked inside and did not see but one or two shrimp, certainly not whole ones. The bulk of this relatively small burrito was no surprise: rice and refried beans, about 94% of it. This is the sad reality in the world of burritos making, load it with everything but almost never with the main star. My small half tasted good, and apparently my companion's also did, as she decimated her half rapidly. Their green salsa and fresh diced cucumbers helped. Yes, prices have gone up, I get that but the best in Chico? No way, Jose. Edible, at $7 a small half you bet your hot jalapeños! 3.8 Stars.

It was a sendoff worthy of mariachi music and a frozen margarita toast. Let's start with the food: fire-grilled shrimp sizzling over peppers and onions, the kind of skillet that turns heads when it hits the table. The birria tacos were rich, cheesy, and golden-seared to perfection, with a deeply savory consommé for dipping every bite a messy, magnificent win. The combo plates brought it all together: classic rice and beans, fresh pico, guac, sour cream, and cheese so generous it should've paid rent. The place is full of charm, too. Walking through the doors is like stepping into a vibrant fiesta bright papel picado overhead, carved wooden benches, tiled floors that feel like abuela's house, and cheerful service that made us feel like family. I especially loved the colorful little photo-op corner by the entrance perfect for capturing the last California memory before heading east. It's not fancy. It's real. The kind of restaurant where flavors speak louder than trends, and you leave with a full belly and a bigger smile. Whether you're rolling through Chico or you're lucky enough to call it home, La Fiesta deserves a spot on your regular rotation. And if you're heading out of town like I was, this is the kind of farewell feast that sticks with you right next to the taste of lime and roasted onion. #LaFiestaChico #BirriaTacos #SizzlingShrimp #ChicoEats #ItsTheLittleThings #ThePuddingCreekTrestle #FoodieFuel #GuacAndRoll #TacoJoy #FlavorTrip

Also, I dont give 5 stars easily and this was easily a 5 star Tacos: my buddy got the tacos cause he said he wasnt that hungry. Tbf, still looks good, idk his opinions on it Super burrito: so no wet burritos on the menu, you have to pay 3$ extra to make a burrito of your choice to be wet. All I said was I want a wet burrito and guy gave me a super burrito and made it wet. Taste wise it was delicious, can't really mess up a burrito. The sauce surrounding it was pretty darn good too. It was kinda tough to eat it though, with a knife and fork. Surprisingly didnt spill too much and fork could pick up the residue pretty well. I had to slice it and then cut that slice in half just to fit it in my mouth. I still prefer dry burrito over wet though and would get dry next time but even with the added 3$, it was still very worth. Chips and salsa: how could I forget about the chips and salsa. Mexican restaurants love their free chips and salsa and this is no exception. They not only have a salsa bar with many different sauces, but they also got a fat metal box with tons of chips for you to scoop yourself, it was amazing. Not only that but they got lids for the sauces and take out bags on the counter if you didnt finish them either. Extra Wish I took pic of menu but I was with friend 5/5 would go again
