Overall, I would come back here. The food was very good and seemed very authentic. I got the number three breakfast burrito and it was massive. I was not expecting this much food, especially for the price that it was which I felt was very reasonable. I love that they have salsa in the corner that you can take to go And peppers service was pretty quick and it seemed pretty clean on the inside. I used the bathroom and that was pretty clean too. First thing, just wanted to say, Mexican restaurants got it down, never had a bad experience with mexican restaurants. Also, I dont give 5 stars easily and this was easily a 5 star Tacos: my buddy got the tacos cause he said he wasnt that hungry. Tbf, still looks good, idk his opinions on it Super burrito: so no wet burritos on the menu, you have to pay 3$ extra to make a burrito of your choice to be wet. All I said was I want a wet burrito and guy gave me a super burrito and made it wet. Taste wise it was delicious, can't really mess up a burrito. The sauce surrounding it was pretty darn good too. It was kinda tough to eat it though, with a knife and fork. Surprisingly didnt spill too much and fork could pick up the residue pretty well. I had to slice it and then cut that slice in half just to fit it in my mouth. I still prefer dry burrito over wet though and would get dry next time but even with the added 3$, it was still very worth. Chips and salsa: how could I forget about the chips and salsa. Mexican restaurants love their free chips and salsa and this is no exception. They not only have a salsa bar with many different sauces, but they also got a fat metal box with tons of chips for you to scoop yourself, it was amazing. Chips and salsa bar is always the first thing I look for and glad they had it. My asada fries were really good ( I don't eat meat so asked for no carne). La Perla is a solid casual Mexican restaurant downtown! They're quick, kind, and the food or homemade ice cold horchata never disappoints. Mind you, I've only tried the supreme asada burrito, asada street tacos, rice/beans, and vegetarian tostada. I don't tend to stray away since I know what I like! Got a Carne asada taco and a Pollo asado quesadilla via doordash the other night. Surprisingly, the taco showed up in one piece and looked like it had been hand delivered from the kitchen. The taco was OK, but probably wouldn't order again. Not a ton of flavor and the salsa was on the bland side. The quesadilla looked super tasty and the chicken was very moist, but I kept biting into chunks of bone. This happened 3x in one quesadilla. Not the biggest deal ever, but I've had a lot of chicken tacos/burritos/quesadillas that didn't have chunks of bone in them, so I know it's possible. Having a mouth full of food and having to reach on into the mix to pick out bone is not my favorite. Also, requested their spiciest Roja salsa and all I got was bland ol pico de Gallo. Where's all the salsa de molcajete at? Maybe some Salsa de Cacahaute? There's a strong chance I'll try their food again and will update if it hits better. Until then, on to the next spot read more

Best burritos I've had in Chico So far. I had the chile reaño super wet burrito. My boyfriend had the super cabeza burrito. The red sauce is fairly rich in flavor. I think its made with either beef or pork rendering so it tastes more authentic than any of the jar sauces other restaurants use which suck. Also, chili reaño is actually battered and fried in the burrito which is exactly what i wanted. some places just put a chili inside... Next time i may as for extra salsa because i like my burrito a little heavier in the onion/cilantro flavor. Will definitely come back. read more

One star for having carrots in their salsa bar (I love those things) and for being accommodating by making me new tortillas when asked. I got one shrimp and one fish taco, my tortillas were dripping WET (inside and on bottom, so much so that the wetness seeped through the paper liner on my plate) and disintegrated around the filling, which was mostly lettuce and pico. The fish was bland, but the shrimp was flavorful. Also their "vegetarian" options include rice, but their rice is made with chicken base (just a heads up for anyone who might want to know). My meat loving fella really enjoyed his meal however, so that earned them another star. They were very nice, the service was quick and I won't be back, but he surely will. read more

Probably gets my vote for favorite Mexican food in Chico. I had a chicken burrito, my husband got Carne Asada. Really giant portions, so he was a fan of that. The chicken was better than what I've had downtown at Aca Taco, although they have bowls there and La Perla doesn't (at least not that I saw) so it kinda depends what you want. Lots of other selections though, it's a big menu. The salsa in the burrito wasn't great BUT they have a self serve salsa and chip station with a bunch of options and some of those were excellent. I called in a couple different burritos, a Chorizo Chimichanga & an order of Carne Asada fries yesterday around 2:30pm. I have never been here before but my friend is obsessed with the Carne Asada fries so i added that onto my order at the end. Overall everything was good, the chimichanga was soggy. It wasn't "fried" at all. It almost looks as if someone thought it was a burrito and then quickly threw it on the flat-top at the very end for a few seconds to make up for the lost time. It made the shell gooey and fell apart all over the place. It was heavy on the tomatoes inside as well, which I didn't mind but some people might. As for the fries, they were the most expensive menu item out of my order which i thought was interesting. Don't get me wrong they were well worth it. I give a 4/5 because the soggy chimichanga was a disappointment. Overall this wouldn't be my first pick in Chico, but they are lightning fast if your in a hurry! Thanks guys read more
