I love this place! On the outskirts of town off 32 next to the almond orchards. Locally owned and very friendly. Cold beer and yummy Mexican fare. I recommend getting the bean & cheese burrito a la carte and the cheese and onion enchilada also a la carte -yummy and cheap! My partner swears by their pastor tacos -he says they're greasy in a sinfully delicious way and the way they cook their meat tastes different than anywhere else in town - i.e. It's worth the drive / bike ride! To get the full experience of this place order a cold beer with lime (I am partial to Sierra Nevada's Old Chico with this food, but they also offer traditional Mexican beers. Don't forget the lime!!) ,dine on the outdoor patio, and enjoy the complementary chips and homemade salsa with your meal. (mild in the dish, hot in the squeeze bottle) Relax and enjoy. This is an amazing taqueria that I never knew was there this whole time because I dont normally drive in that direction on Nord. It is a cozy and welcoming place with very friendly staff. They have outdoor and indoor seating. My kids ordered tacos and my son raved about it (he is a die hard taco fan). My husband and I tried different kinds of food and shared it together. We especially loved the al pastor super burrito, the refried beans (surprisingly, not a lot of places get the beans just right, but this one does), and the chicken enchiladas. The meat in all was very tender and the rice is very fluffy. I am used to seeing many restaurants smother everything in red sauce and cheese, but this place had more variety of flavors and spices. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we will be back! read more

This is my favorite place to eat in Chico! I've been coming here with my dad since I was a kid, and have always looked forward to it. We call it "Honk" because the sign along the highway next to it says, "If you can't stop, HONK!" There food is always amazing, and fairly priced. From enchiladas to Al Pastor burritos, to platters, it's all good. It may look like nothing from the outside, but this hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant should not be passed up. The staff is super friendly and are just down-home and wonderful. If you are looking for a place to eat in Chico, make the trip out here, you won't be disappointed. Yes!! I finally found a place with great refried beans! I grew up down the street from this place and never tried it. A few weeks ago I decided to pop in after my daughter had it at work and said it was so good. I usually judge a mexican place by their rice and beans. If those are good the rest is too. I love the rice and beans here!! I've had lots of beans with the consistancy that I like but have no flavor. They are perfect here. Best refried beans in town! The first time I went I had the burrito with chicken. The chicken was flavorful and tender, not dry. I went back again a week later and ordered the same thing. Still delicious. This week I had a chicken tostada. It had something spicy on top (maybe salsa or pico) but it was good! I love spicy. My daughter gets the tacos and raves about them. So far we haven't had anything here we don't like. It's definitely worth trying out. The man at the counter taking orders is the nicest person ever! I really love this place and we'll definitely be regulars. read more

I don't get out to that side of town too often, but I did the other day. It was worth the drive and I was so impressed. I ordered enchiladas and after a couple of bites, I had to look back in that kitchen to see if my mom was in there. They tasted like the good home-cooked ones that she used to make. I keep craving the rice and beans they prepared, too. I talked with the owner (a son and father) and they each learned to cook from their mothers. Don't let the plain outside fool you. This may not look like much from the outside as you whiz by, but this is some seriously good Mexican food. I stopped there on a whim one evening on the way home to Orland. They had a special of chili relleno and a taco. I got that and then some cheese enchiladas just to try them. Wow. My car was full of delicious aromas all the way home. Everything was EXCELLENT. The enchiladas--a real basic--were so good. They were full of cheese and small diced onion and the sauce was good without being overpowering. Even the rice and beans were delicious. The relleno was not too bready or too huge and had excellent flavor. Taco was good and all the ingredients tasted fresh. I liked this food so well that I went there again for lunch with some friends. We dined inside this time and I was pleased to see the interior of the restaurant, while small, was immaculate. All the booths were clean and the floor was swept. You can see in the kitchen when ordering and I was impressed with the tidy kitchen as well. The service was great and they were quite attentive and friendly. The salsa...YUM. I am accustomed to the usual red tomato salsa served everywhere else. Not here. You get a bowl of Verde salsa with onion, chili, and celery and whoa it is good. There's a hotter variety san veggies in a squeeze bottle available if you decide to go to the spicy side. My tongue was a bit burnt by the hot stuff but that didn't stop me from adding some to my taco. Lunch items were fantastic again. We all enjoyed our meal and made a pact to come back again and soon. This is a family restaurant and they really make you feel welcome and are appreciative of your business. I look forward to stopping here during the summer months, enjoying a taco or two and a cold beer at one of their outside tables. I hope this place is here for many more years to come. Traditional Mexican taqueria food with unique but traditional individuality. I had a two taco combination. The rice and refritos were excellent, the beans rich, flavorful and appropriately creamy. The rice was not overly oily, among the best you'll find. The salsa that came with the chips was a green salsa with tomatoes onions and then use a touch of celery. It had a touch of black pepper that was very pleasing. A squeeze bottle of green salsa also accompanied the meal, this was fairly unique as it had a pleasant bitter component to the taste which made it stand out from the usual sour flavored green salsa. The meat in the tacos was good not over the greasy but flavorful and not dry. Very worthwhile trying and I would certainly come back again. The service is friendly, the restaurant is clean and the overall feel it's simple comfortable and friendly. read more

Stopped here the other day. Everything on the menu looked delicious so I asked for a recommendation from the cashier. He said the carne asada super burrito was very popular so I tried that. It was so delicious. They also sell Jarritos there (YAY) so I got a tamarind one. Mmmmm. Best carne asada burrito in Butte County I have eaten, hands down. Very clean place. And it's air conditioned so nice place to stop after a long days work in the sun. I will be back. read more
