A working farm and store, open to public tours and events. We attended a wedding reception at Gorman Heritage Farm just north of Cincinnati, and we loved the farm! There are animals to visit and a small store with eggs, honey, produce, pasture-raised chicken, other local foods, fresh-cut flowers, and various books, clothing, and merchandise. For our event, they put up a huge tent, so we had breezy shaded dining. This was next to another covered structure, for a breezy shaded dance-floor. And there was a food-truck bar as well. In all, a clever use of their space for a fun comfortable event. We had access to their farm for self-tours, and i think there were guided tours and feedings, too, but we walked ourselves among and petted and brushed and fed the humped mini "zebu" steer, non-wooly Katahdin sheep, goats, mini horses, a mini donkey, mules, about six of rabbits of different kinds, and chickens. Cute farm, has a ton of plants, veggies, and land to see and explore! We had a good time walking around and seeing the farm. I just don't recommend *during the week*. I am sure the weekend has a different experience but there weren't many animals to see besides chickens, no snacks or drinks (from what I saw) and just not a lot to do! We went to Gorman Farm for the Sunflower Festival and it was so much fun! We went with our granddaughter (and her parents). Buying the tix online ahead of time saves you some money, and free parking in nearby lots was available. There were food trucks and craft vendors which made it fun to roam around and look at their wonderful wares. You wander through along the paths and get to look at their beautiful gardens while heading to the sunflower field and maze. There were animals to learn about and pet, and we could cut sunflowers for $1 per stem. We didn't do the maze or wagon ride, but everything that we did do was great! It made for a wonderful Sunday afternoon!! read more

Wonderful little hidden gem! The land is beautiful and the gardens are immaculate! We started our journey at the welcome center. This is where you pay admission, grab a map, and they even have a cute little store. Admission is very reasonably priced at only $8 and children 3 and under are free. The gentleman who helped us was very helpful on telling us paths to take and showing us the map. They have a huge map in the center and also smaller maps you can take. Our first stop was the children's garden and it's probably one of the pretty gardens I've ever seen! It's very whimsical almost something out of a fairytale. There are beautiful floral archways, areas representing the 5 senses and so much more! You can tell the garden is flourishing by the way wildlife just flocks to it! There were so many butterflies, birds, and bees just enjoying the garden. The bees weren't even bothersome, just really beautiful! The best part was seeing so many hummingbirds flutter through! From there we journeyed about the rest of the farm! We saw chickens, a donkey, mules, mini horses, and a barn cat! There were more animals but we didn't see the entire farm since our littles started to get tired. We enjoyed seeing the Mike's get new shoes and loved how the farmers were so talkative and very interactive with our kiddos; even letting them pet the mules! Went there recently for a school field trip and was very disappointed with the staff. 2 out of the 4 guides were on a power trip and seemed to not like children. Yelling at them for every little thing they did or standing there refusing to talk when kids were just being kids. Only letting them touch the chickens and rabbits with two fingers and one stoke. I mean it's a chicken not a bald eagle for goodness sakes. A couple mothers and I were talking that they could have made it a lot more fun and showed some kindness towards the kids. Would not recommend and will not be going back. read more

I found this place because of Facebook and I have been wanting to go to a Sunflower Field since I was little girl so when this popped up and I was only going to be 8 mins away from Gormans I asked my sister to come with my two nieces. Well the website keeps giving me an error and telling me I have to see someone at Gormans. The young man at the front desk was so nice and he couldn't figure out what was going on and said they was having issues with it because of the over load so because of this issue I had to pay more to go in than what I would have if their website wasn't having issues. I thought okay this isn't a bad price but wants getting inside I can now say it actually is way over priced for what is included. A few animals, a mule ride (THE LADIES IN CHARGE OF DRIVING AND STANDING BY THE MULES HAD HORRIBLE ATTITUDES) it also was a 2 min ride through a neighborhood not nothing to do with the farm itself which we had to stand in line for a couple minutes which was fine but if I would have waited in line more than 10 minutes to take this mule ride I would have been more upset than I already was if you go please understand you see absolutely nothing but a bunch of houses, then after the mule we went for hayride or so I call it a drop off and pick up tractor. We had to wait about 20 minutes so here we think o man it's going to be better than the Mule ride well the two men up at the top of the hill to get on the tractor ride was Phenomenal I know Bob was one of their names and the other man was from India. We had a little one who was upset she didn't get on first and we had to wait so Bob decided to do the Chicken Dance with her and he just all around was so friendly. Well anyways on to this hayride we got on and here I'm thinking we are about to see some more animals, other things at the farm and nope the hay ride is actually just to pick you up from the bottom of the hill to the top or top to the bottom. You again don't see anything but the sunflowers and the man driving the tractor I would have thought he would have said welcome to Gormans but nope not one word and the lady helping get others off at the bottom of the hill also had a horrible attitude. So here we are done the 2 second Mule ride, the pickup and drop off ride and seeing the Very small amount of animals. We go to the sunflower field to see which ones we want to pick it was a $1 for 1 which I feel everyone who pays $15 to get into this place should be able to cut one flower for free and then after that one then charge a $1 a stem. The field had so many pretty sunflowers but so many that looked like they was dying so am I happy I got to see my first sunflower field absolutely but really upset I went with this place. The food trucks the prices were insane $14 for two small pieces of fish and a small fries from hooks (man and female working Hooks food truck thank you for being so nice) , $16 for a pull pork sandwich, overly priced roasted nuts but man working was very nice and knowledgeable, and the line for the mini donuts was crazy long because there was only one man working it and he wasn't friendly and hate that I even gave him money because how nasty he was. He shouldn't have been running that food truck only and if you can't pick donuts that you want put up a sign saying that. So overall 90% of the workers (including the police officers) which mostly was an older staff aren't friendly and seemed to not want to be there. The advertising that this is a family fun farm with lots to do is not at all true. This farm is a Money grabber and I don't recommend it for anyone looking for a family fun day. Gormans your farm has a lot of potential but first you need to get workers that actually want to work with the public because again the staff besides a few didn't want to be there. The young man at the front taking money to get in, the lady in the restroom building, Bob and the man from India, the employees at Hooks and The roasted nuts thank you all for your kindness. If you need a farm where it truly is a family farm go to Blooms and Berries or Shaw farm. read more

We went to a fall wedding here and it was just lovely. The couple got married in a field not far from the parking lot, but it felt like we were out in the country. Beautiful field of wild flowers behind them. The reception was held in their outdoor shelter right off the parking lot, with an added tent, it was perfect. There are bathrooms in the shelter as well. This is a great location for a wedding, now we have to come back and explore the actual "farm" part. read more

I really enjoyed going out to Gorman Heritage Farm the other day. It was perfect for spending a part of a gorgeous day here. There is easy parking when you get here, and make sure you walk into the visitor center and pay the admission price. Admission is $5 for Adults. $3 for Seniors (60+) and $3 for Children (3-17). If you check in on Yelp! you'll get a $1 off your admission price, BTW. When you go to the visitors center you will get a map and someone will tell you about the farm and the different things to do. If you have questions while you're walking around the farm they encourage you to talk to the volunteers that are working all over the farm. They have hiking trails, gardens, and animals. We only checked out the animals and gardens while we were here because of it raining the previous day and the whole mud factor of trails. This farm is gorgeous and I loved walking around it. I was so excited to see all the animals. I'm 27 acting like a 5-year-old, type of excited. They have pigs right now, baby pigs at that. They were the cutest things I have ever seen in my life. They have horses, mini horses, mules, chickens, goats, and sheep. They even had a cat that holds down the barn and puts mice in their place. The cat isn't supposed to be friendly but he was following us around the rest of the time we were there. They have rabbits too but I didn't get to see them because they weren't out. It made me sad. But maybe I'll get to see them someday. All the animals are super friendly and basically, come up to you when they see you. Even though we had a map the most helpful thing was that they had arrows on the ground wrote with chalk on where things were. I don't know if they have that all of the time, but they should. Some things are kind of hidden. If you have kids this is a great place to take them. They even have picnic tables so you can have lunch out there as well. Gorman Heritage Farm is a gem inside the city. I was so surprised when I first heard about the farm that it was located literally steps away from where I live. Workers from the farm often attend local events that promote local foods or farm-to-fork kind of festivals, so I was fortunate enough to hear one of their honey bee spiels and how important pollinators are to, well, everything! They seem to have a rolling registry of regular volunteers and they seem to hold weekly farm visits. I had a quick tour of the farm (for a special occasion) and it's absolutely a farm like any farm you have been to. The only difference is you see houses of Blue Ash in the background! (must be nice to live in one of those, especially during the sunflower festival!!) What's great about this farm is their dedication to promoting education of all things farm related like honey bee keeping, gardening, and raising livestock. I personally have never been to one of their real tours or camps or any of their other events, but after hearing that they do sell meats... Oh my gosh! Their chicken is absolutely amazing! It costs approximately $3 per pound and chickens are generally roughly 3 pounds, so we end up paying about 10 to 12 bucks for a whole chicken. However, what you pay for in price, you make up for in quality, taste, and overall healthy-ness. Their livestock are free range and I was told that their cows live a happy, grass-grazing lifestyle. I haven't yet tried their beef, but I will be ordering some come December. I have a pork order that should be coming in soon, but I will definitely update this once I actually get it in! Gorman Heritage Farm also hosted the Edible Ohio Valley Green Market fair this past summer, which was a blast as well. Originally established in 1835, by the Brown family. The Brown family emigrated from Scotland. It was on approximately 120 Acres, in Evendale Ohio that they created their dream. One of the reasons they settled the area was the natural spring on the property. Water from the spring house was used for drinking and bathing until the 1980's! Eventually one of the Brown descendants married a man by the name of Gorman. It was at that point that the name was changed to Gorman Heritage Farm. When the final descendants were offered one million dollars to sell their farm they decided against it. All the farms in the area were being purchased by developers. The surviving Gorman's, a brother and sister who had no children of their own, decided to gift their family's legacy to the Cincinnati Nature Center. Such a gift would allow future generations of people, from all around the Cincinnati area, to learn about small farms. Gorman Heritage Farm was later turned over to the City of Evendale. Non-profit organizations and community support help allow the farm to continue to thrive. We had a lovely morning on the farm. One of the first gardens we came across was the children's garden. It is whimsical, with several fun themed areas. Areas include a pizza garden, Mexican garden, and herb spiral. Like much of the farm, this garden is maintained by volunteers. Volunteers are a vital part of Gorman's daily operation. The grounds themselves were lush. Nicole, who guided us around the farm, explained once the leaves fall, the surviving communities are may be seen from many areas. She also taught us about the bee, bluebird and butterfly conservation efforts on the farm. Most of the animals were extremely friendly. Some enjoyed being pet. That is always a plus with children. Being able to pet some of the animals thrilled my children. While a teaching farm, the animals are not pets. Some live out their lives on the farm. Others are raised to one day be food. Numerous programs are offered throughout the year. Some include yoga on the farm, cooking classes and dinners. Even summer camp for children. Approximately 8,000 school children visit the farm every year. The farm may also be rented out for private events. In the fall, pumpkins are available for purchase near the entrance. There is also an annual sunflower festival. There is an admission fee. This may be paid on a case by case basis, or membership is available. Lovely farm, practically in the city. I had a pleasure of joining a tour during Yelp's Farm fresh series of events. Very educational, especially for children. We had the chance to explore not only the vegetable patches, but also hanging out with the animals! Goats, rabbits, chickens, pigs, donkey (what a sound! :D), you name it! This farm has it all! A gem in the Evendale area. My employer has had a picnic here for the past few years. If you're looking for an outdoor event space for about 100 attendees, with a shelter area and activities for everyone. Hayrides up to the farm, walking trails and experience center with the history of the farm. How have we never heard about this before??? There is a farm in Cincinnati. It's across Reading Rd from the Menards in Evendale. The farm is over 100 acres. When the neighboring land was developed, the Gorman family refused to sell and maintained their farm and the farming heritage of their community. Today there are extensive gardens. They sell some of the produce in their visitor center. The rest is available as part of their CSA which I think runs from late spring to early fall. Besides the gardens there are barns and fields with horses, miniature donkeys, mules, goats, sheep, rabbits, pigs, and chickens. From late spring until Thanksgiving they have Turkeys. You can guess what happens to the turkeys at Thanksgiving. If you live in Evendale, admission is free. For everyone else kids 3 and under are free. I think kids are $3 and adults are $5. You can get an annual family membership for $75, but if you visit and check in on Yelp, you get a $20 off coupon for the membership through the Yelp app. Glad we found this farm. Big disappointment. I was lured in by the pictures and description saying there were all kinds of animals, vendors, and children's activities. None of this was here. I brought some out of state friends for a fun day on the farm. We asked about the animals when we arrived and they directed us to the barnyard...after they had us pay the admission fee. When we got there, we saw 2 goats (one with a large infected gash on his leg and limping), a pen of turkeys and a couple of horses who didn't want to be bothered. No kids area, pumpkins, hay rides or vendors. Such a let down. I expected much much more. Not at all worth paying for. Do yourself and your guests a favor and go 20 minutes further to Shaw Farms in Milford. October is full of life there with so much for everyone to see and do including lots of interactive animals, rides, corn maze, pumpkins, life size play sculptures, food and music...and you don't have to pay to just walk around. read more

I was up at Gorman this past weekend for the first time in nearly a decade, and I am so impressed at how much it's evolved! The space is the same, but happily, they've gotten better with programming and offerings of actual produce from the farm. I took a cooking class in their cooking space, and it was awesome! The instructors knew what they were doing, constantly were walking around to check on folks and even made sure to start off the class with a tour of where items are grown, even allowing us to pick some of the produce we'd end up using! They have a cooking class there about 1x/mo and on top of their spring/fall festivals, they now have a farm to table dinner at least once a summer that is a bit too expensive for me, but from what I've heard, has been really nicely executed. I also was elated to know that they now have a "cut flower program" where you can either pay a flat fee for bouquets that you cut yourself from their extensive flower garden, or a per stem price. I only wish I still worked up that way! I'd be there all the time. As it stands, I will definitely be back to buy some of their "ugly tomatoes" to put to use in some of the new tomato recipes I got in class this weekend! read more

We went randomly on a Monday and walked around the farm, looking at animals, eating an impromtu picnic lunch on a park bench, and playing in the children's garden. I paid $5 for myself and my little guy was free (under 3). I think we will need to come back when there is an activity going on, like this sunflower festival everyone else is talking about (just missed it). Things were set up, clearly, for a pumpkin festival, but there didn't seem to be anyone manning any of the stations, which may because it could be a weekend only thing, which is totally understandable considering not many people were there on a Monday. But my son enjoyed seeing all the animals and picking cherry tomatoes and walking around the grounds. It was a lovely, different way to spend the afternoon. Just went to Gorman Farm recently to take a cooking class. Apparently, they do this at different times of the year. I was pleased because the chef teaching the class has taught some other classes at another establishment AND the prices were less expensive here. They don't have all the bells and whistles, but it was fun, you made all the dishes yourself and got to eat at a communal table lit by candlelight with the other students. It's BYOB, which also saves you money. It was right before The Sunflower Festival that week-end which sounds absolutely amazing! Also, they were raffling off a gorgeous quilt as a fundraiser. The group making/donating it meets at the farm everything week so it's a win/win situation. Since then, we went to the farm to cut sunflowers from their huge sunflower garden, toured the rest of the farm with all kinds of animals, vegetable gardens, children's garden, flower garden, etc . Nice farm, I'm here for the Sunflower festival and it's $8 for adults and $5 for kids. There is a stand with pumpkins but no patch, everything costs extra except the hayride and mule ride. They didn't even have animals in the barn really. The Sunflowers were small and in rough shape so we didn't even pick any. Overall disappointed. Not any bang for your buck by any means. Pumpkins were $3 for a small, $5 for a medium, $7 for a large. No large pumpkins I guess this year read more
