About two weeks ago, my husband and I stopped by Gorman McCracken at lunchtime drawn in mostly by the 0, 0, 0 promotion and the fact that we always see such great used cars at your lot. Marco was our first point of contact. My plan was to tell him, no, I don't need any help, just leave us alone and let us look. But, Marco was so kind and we automatically felt at ease asking him about half a dozen used cars. Then, we mentioned the VW promotion and told him we were interested in the details of leasing a VW and he introduced us to Angie. Angie was awesome, a more professional salesperson I have yet to meet. We discussed several options and she was pretty honest with us about what we could do with leases and our credit and the prices of the Jetta vs Passat. After several visits to the dealership, many calls to and from Angie, a couple of test drives, and my husband trying to back out several times, we are now leasing a VW Jetta in moondust (I think that's the color) and are extremely happy!!! Angie helped us stay within our budget and helped us get a good price for our trade-in. We have already given her name out to two friends interested in our same successful experience! Also, every person with whom we came into contact at the dealership was extremely professional. My parents were good friends with the Russell's who owned the dealership prior and we always felt like we were given a good deal, plus excellent customer service. I told Angie & Marco this, but when my father bought a Mazda protege from Rusty Russell in 1992, Rusty taught me how to drive it (5-speed) in the Movies 9 parking lot! So, we were so glad to see the dealership rebuilt and bought again after his death. More importantly, we are thrilled to see that the same spirit of fairness and quality customer service survived the transition. We will be back! read more

A generally poor experience across the board. My wife leased a '24 Taos that has had multiple faulty sensors, a complete gas tank replacement, and now needs a new a/c line, all in just under 2.5 years. A salesman contacted her and offered to get her out of lease, only to spend nearly two weeks playing phone tag before telling her she would have to pay at least 11,000 for the dealership to take the car back. At the time of sale I was promised they would ship in another vehicle from a sister dealership which also never showed. Guess I dodged a bullet there. The service department wanted the vehicle left for two days to diagnose the ac issue, our local Toyota dealer did in under 3 hours. Would not recommend this VW dealer for anything. read more

Paid $122 for a very basic oil change with tire rotation. Was told it included car wash. Nothing special about any of the services. The staff was pleasant and only reason I didn't go with a one star. Beware of pricing practices. The bill sent to me via automated system was approximately $100 more. The button is there to approve it. I didn't. When asked the service manager said there is a glitch between pricing. Hmm? What would the charge been if I agreed to automated bill? I did like the service tech online video showing work done. For what I paid, could have had vehicle professionally detailed and oil change at the big box store. read more

My 2021 Mazda CX-9 low oil level warning light came on. I took it to Gorman McCracken to have it checked. Ty, the Service Advisor, checked me in. Bryan, the Mechanic, checked it out and texted a video to me to explain what the problem was and how to repair it. It was defective Exhaust Valve Stem Seals causing my engine to use oil. Ty told me that Bryan ordered the parts and that the whole repair was covered under warranty. Ty and Bryan worked together to complete the work and keep me posted. Bryan did an excellent job on the repair. read more

I read the reviews and saw the low rating of 2.3 out of 5. They had a car I liked and decided to go ahead and get a drive out price. The ratings were right. Their base price ended up being $750 more than advertised with an additional $2,294 for Gorman adds, whatever that is. That's $3,044 over what they advertised on their site. Too bad, my credit score is 836 and was interested in buying it. read more

I've never experienced a "car deal" like the one I had here. And I've bought dozens throughout my life. Just the most bizarre and poor service I've ever had. I'm from another state and saw a vehicle online I was interested in at their dealership. Contacted them on a Wednesday evening. Told them I wanted an "out the door price". They said they would get back to me the next day. They didn't. After having to contact them the next 2 days (Thursday and Friday), I finally received a quote on Saturday at 10:00. They did not come down a cent from their advertised price and the manager had the nerve to call the 2 year depreciation on the car I was looking at (it was 2 years old) a "discount". His "discount" was the 2 year depreciation of the car and that price was about $2k higher than the Kelly Blue Book used car value. I made a counteroffer and he told me that another person from out of state was accepting the offer he made me. Remember, this quote he gave me was the first quote I got and it was 3 days after I asked for one. I have never dealt with people who genuinely acted like they didn't care I bought a car from them or not. Terrible customer service. Strange people. Update: I'd like to add that the dealership didn't have someone from out of state to take the offer I was given. The car was reduced to the price I offered 2 days later. Our car required a software update. We scheduled the appointment. The lady at the service department was not aware of our appointment. Noah finally got us checked in. We waited in the waiting area for an hour and fifteen minutes. Noah returned and explained they would not be performing the update and we would need to reschedule.I declined and I found Patterson Volkswagen in Tyler. They will get our business now. read more

Wish I could leave a negative star review. Worst Service department and mechanics I've ever encountered. I've had two separate experiences with two VW products and they have been incompetent at best. Parts left loose, hardware and bolts missing, underpinning on bottom side not secured after repairs. Multiple return trips were needed to remedy the issues and that was only after I made them put it on the lift so I could point out the missing parts to their "mechanic". I'm an experienced heavy equipment Technician, an ABS offshore crane inspector and a US Navy veteran Electronics Tech. If you have another option go elsewhere! read more

This dealership lied on pricing, reneged on trade-in offer and tried to force a $3000 warranty and then refused to sell it without the warranty. they refused to disclose any of this until we spoke to financing. The financing department would only offer a 9% interest rate for a 720+ credit score... ridiculous! Update: Told my father about 3 days to diagnosis his 2016 Mazda. Not only did they try to take my 95 year-old father's car for $500. When we ask for the car back they tried to charge him $199 for a diagnosis they never did, because we came for the car the next day. We took the car and had it repaired for $200 in which they told him was gonna cost $4000. read more

This wad a very big surprise for me cause wasn't expecting to be approved for a brand new car. I traded in a 2007 mazda and no cash down. The trade in helped with that. My sales man and his team where very courteous. I did research before I went there to. Was going to go to a buy here pay here but the reviews got me to go to this dealership. And my payments are reasonable compared to a buy here pay here. Instead of paying $99 a week I have a monthly payment of $406. With extended warranty. DO NOT BUY HERE! ! If I could give them zero stars, I would have. I was pre-approved for a used vehicle at a set price. Had been working with them for 4 days before I could get there. When I did arrive, the price had jumped 4000 dollars. Said it was a market adjustment. Then said they would honor the original price. When it came down to price, they would not negotiate price of car, only the monthly payment. I asked the sales rep earlier in the week what the APR would be, and she wouldn't give it to me. Then the finance director told me what it was, and when my wife asked if that was what the bank said or was it his, he got up and walked out of the meeting, and said have a nice day. He said nothing to me when he left. No thank you, no hand shake, nothing. I confronted him about his behavior in his office (finance director) and he said he felt offended by my wife asking "all those questions". And said that our questions about the numbers were offensive and that we were being difficult to the sales reps. A verbal confrontation ensued, when he sarcastically apologized. Went to the new car side, after speaking with another sales man, he informed me that the finance director told him that they would no longer do business me me, and would not longer purchase my trade in, because I was being difficult. So not only did I not buy the car I traveled 2.5 hours to buy, but he black listed me at the new car side, because he was "offended" So, at Gorman McCraken, you better not ask any questions! Just take what they give you, be a happy ignorant person, and take the car salesman at their word. And remember, whatever your APR they give you, it's be jacked up atleast 4 or 5 points. read more

I cannot even give them a star, but I must, to finish the review!! The service department is a joke! If a customer comes in and says I need my Air Conditioner fixed you would think they would analyze everything that was wrong with the system, call the customer tell them what was wrong and let them know how much that was going to cost. They did not even do that. They put a new compressor on an 18-year old system and called the customer up and said it was ready. Now, you know if there are any mechanics out there reading this that you CAN NOT do this!! Everything must be checked out. Dryer, condenser, hoses...etc. To make sure the system is going to work properly. Well apparently, they really do not give a Rats Ass about all that because that did not happen!! The customer was charged $1200.00 dollars for a new compressor and sent on. Without writing a book about everything that happened after that I will make it a little short. The customer ends up taking Jetta over to another vehicle repair place that works on Air Conditioning systems. Now, because Gorman McCracken did not replace everything that needed to be done. The NEW compressor that cost $1200.00 is now worthless because it has metal fragments in it for the other parts that were bad. Oh! NOOOO the air conditioner does not work!!! Gorman McCracken does not care! I put a review on their Facebook page, and they took it down and blocked me!! I told nothing but the truth! They have no honor, respect, concern for the customer, and they do not feel bad at all for the $1200.00 that they STOLE from the customer! Took my 2017 Passat into the service department because it had a massive oil leak. It needed a rear main seal. I was notified by the service manager "nick" that they had tried to fix my car, but were unable because the crankshaft was scored. He was very adamant that i needed a $10,000 dollar new engine because mine was "unfixable" and would not even entertain the idea that the technician had not performed the repair correctly. I only paid them so I could pick up my car and take it elsewhere. When i picked up my car, the transmission was slipping badly!! There was NO transmission issue when the car was dropped at Gorman McCracken. It was driven into the shop. The transmission had to be removed to attempt the engine repair. I ended up trailering my car to a shop in Dallas, who not only fixed my "unfixable" engine, but found almost no fluid in my transmission. This whole debacle ended up costing me the $1200 i paid Gorman McCracken to NOT fix my car, $200 to trailer my car to another shop, $1300 to actually fix the original problem, and $1500 to fix the transmission problem that magically appeared when i picked up my car from Gorman McCracken. Do yourself a favor and skip these folks. If they will do this to me, they will do this to you! read more

They diligently answered al my questions and went above and beyond to make everything seem less for me. I took my car in for a recall and when it was returned to me the moonroof shade was stained. The shade was spotless before I handed it over to Gorman McCracken. They offered to have it cleaned for me and I returned to have that done. When the cleaning was finished it looked worse than it had before. I was told that was all they could do. My question is how can a dealership take your vehicle for a recall and mess it up and then expect you to just live with it??? If I could give this dealership less than 1 star I would. Do not trust them for any maintenance or recall repair because if they mess up they will not honor their mistake and fix it. Poor management and poor workmanship. My car is still under warranty and was in pristine condition before it was placed in the hands of Gorman McCracken!!! read more

My wife and I recently stopped in to look at some SUVs. We were helped by our salesperson, Ruben. He was excellent. We had an enjoyable and smooth transaction throughout our purchase. The finance manager was also great. A few months after our purchase, the Cadillac Vue unit malfunctioned. My wife spoke with Ruben, and he called GM on her behalf. After they told him the new unit would be over 3K, he continued to work for us. Long story short, he ended up speaking with the prior owner, who had a warranty on the part (it had been replaced already). I cannot recommend Ruben highly enough. It seems like poor service is the norm in most transactions these days, but his attentiveness, demeanor, and ethics made this one of the most outstanding experiences I've a consumer. read more

Service, in service. Please be sure to repeat back what you're requesting. I tried to bring my Audi there for an oil change. I called ahead, knowing that they might not have the filter. She first said she needed the VIN. I said I'd have to call back. She talked to someone in the background, and then asked for the year, and said they'd have to order the filter. And, it normally takes 2 days to get here. She said, they'd call me when it arrived. Three days later, I called in to schedule (because they hadn't called back yet), and she said, "no, ma'am. It's not ordered." Ugh. So, while I cannot rate the quality of their work, I can rate the quality of the customer service experience. I'll try again for my next oil change. read more

I will never go to this place again. I went in for an oil change and was told my oil pan was stripped and it would cost me $1400. They blamed the previous dealership. I refused to pay because I didn't do anything to cause the damage. After contacting the previous dealership they decided to charge me $250 for parts only. I paid it just to get the hell away from that place as the general manager even asked the service manager to patch up my car enough to drive to Dallas. He then offered to cut the price in half and I would pay $700, again for something I didn't cause. After getting my car home I found scratches on my front light panel. They changed a bulb and looks like the idiot tech tried to make a drawing on the cover with a screwdriver. Scratches everywhere. Then my side panel is sticking out because of screws not being replaced. They should be stripped of the Volkswagen name. Now I don't know if the repairs were made and if they screwed something else up. It's sad when you can't trust a dealership. They never have to worry about me going there ever ever again. In meantime, making a car payment this week on my new car that is sitting at gorman mccracken. Today, at 4:30 had to call them!! Had to call and see if mazda had okayed to drop a new engine in car. But, ohhh, we just called them! I was told they were going to call this am! If I had money; it is time to hire an attorney. How long do we let them push us around? Really, yelpers, how long??? Got car back this am. Still rattles and they forwarded date my car was dropped off for August 18th. My car was dropped off August 3rd. They backdated! They have no copies or any notation of me dropping off July 15th! They have falsified all information and I have no copies or proof!! Beware everyone! Get a copy of hand written repair order always!! Copies Copies Copies, I could just cry. Gorman McCracken are a bunch of liars. Moving to Kemah and will have to let another Mazda. Dealer deal with the mess of Gorman McCracken techs created. I took my car in for the routine oil change and the next morning I walked out to oil all over my garage. This happened on a Sunday, so of course they are closed. I had to call for help to get my front end jacked up enough to get under the car and find out that 1. they lost a screw to my protective cover and 2. they did not tighten the oil plug screw. I had to get a ride to O'Riely's to buy oil to put back into my car. The next day I went up there and they apologized and offered me a free oil change on my next visit, but no reimbursement for the oil change or the oil I had to buy to replace what leaked all over my garage. It was one or the other, in my opinion it should have been both. They offered to detail the car for free, which I accepted. I arrived at the dealership at 3:30pm and by 6pm I'm still waiting on my car. A man comes around the corner with a surprised look on his face and states he did not know I was still here. Long story short, the lady had left and failed to tell him I was waiting on my car. I really do not want to go back because I'm scared this will happen again. Poor Service Department - I won't return. 1. I called for an appointment stating I needed a recall item repair, oil change and state inspection. After driving 1:20 minutes from Nacogoches I found out they didn't have the part for the recall...why didn't they check it when I called? 2. On arrival I went to the Mazda service side and was told to turn around and go to the Volkswagen side. The customer lounge is much smaller and kinda dirty, Mazda side was huge, clean and more comfortable. 3. Service technician came to me once in the lounge but then called me over twice for information...why didn't she come to me? 4. Was shown, at least what I was told, was my dirty air and cabin filters and they should be replaced, which I agreed. However I was never told there was a labor charge for each, $55 total JUST FOR LABOR, you've got to be kidding, this has never happened at any other dealership or oil change location. I complained about the labor charge but was answered with "sign here and pay there". 5. Observation: poor customer service, low work energy, little to no positive interaction with customers...in my world this would call for a sit down with the service manager then the employees and an improvement plan. read more

A week ago, I went BUY a vehicle from Gorman McCracken Longview dearership, and I specifically told them I didn't want a lease! They rushed through the paperwork not explaining any details and I check my credit report and it shows a lease account. I also, told them I didn't want my payment over 600 dollars a month. This agreement was for purchase, and I find out that its 606 dollars a month for a lease. This agreement was for a purschase, as I told them I did not want a lease! I went up to the dealership today and the sales manager stated, "it's not a lease, they just process it on a lease form." They stated they didn't understand why I didn't want to lease, because the salesperson Kris and the sales manager both do it, and 50% of buyers do it. I told them I was not in that 50%, I wanted to buy the car. The sale manager stated that if the lease was funded he couldn't rewrite the lease to a sale. I called VW finance and asked if that was correct and they stated, "No that's not correct, all the dealer has to do is rewrite the contact and submit it, but they could force them to do so." Yet another lie! The bottom line is they stood to make more profit off a lease than a sale. Do not trust these people. I spent 4 hours with them and having VW Finance, as well as VW Corporate America filing complaints against the dearlership. read more

I had some problems with a recent visit and I left dissatisfied. Perhaps it was a lack of communication between us. However, when the service department heard of my complaints, they stepped in to correct the issues and the service they provided to make me more satisfied was way over the top. I can honestly say I have never experienced a company doing more to make me a happy customer. I will never again doubt their commitment to excellent customer service. My husband purchased a pre-owned car for me here. After getting a recall from the dealer (BMW), we found out that we were sold a car with tremendous issues. Of course, it was not notated by Gorman, so they are refusing to do anything to fix this car. We have only had the car for a couple of months and we thought that they would honor the warranty that we paid for, since the finance manager made that promise while he was "selling" the warranty to us. It is my opinion that if you are looking for a good, honest car dealership...this is NOT the place to go. The service manager is rude and yelled at my husband and the finance manager will promise you the moon, if you will just sign the paperwork and get out of his office...but the promises he makes during the signing mean absolutely nothing when it comes time to own up to them. So, my thoughts are this...I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM THIS PLACE, EVEN IF THIS IS THE LAST PLACE TO BUY WITHIN 1000 MILES. Honesty should be prevalent even when selling a car...since car sales people get a bad rap about being dishonest...just tell the truth! read more

I never bought a vehicle here, but my parents bought two Mazdas and one Volkswagen and they loved this place. I was traveling up to Northeast Texas, when I was due for service. So, I knew my parents had good luck with this place, so I decided to get my service done here. I got there about lunch time and they got me in right away. They quoted me about an hour and a half and were done in about an hour. Not only did they give me very nice spread sheet on every thing they did, but they gave me a list of other things that will probably need done at certain mileages. After they were through, not only did they wash the outside, but they vacuumed the inside. Unlike Peter's Chevrolet (who I bought three vehicles from, when it was Bass Chevrolet), they didn't try find any issues that weren't there and didn't try to get me to do anything that wasn't needed on my car. Their staff is very attentive and helpful and I was very pleased with my service. I do not miss living in Longview or Northeast Texas at all. However, I do miss this dealership and if I did live there, I guarantee I would be buying my vehicles from them. read more

Love the car, it's great, extreamely dissatified with the dealership. Bought brand new Jetta 5 months ago, from there let me start my list. 1. Took 5 months of putting me off to get a scratch fixed that was done before delivery. When finally was told to bring car & get it fixed, they would have a loaner to give me so I could get home, I live more than an hour from dealership, after being there 5 hrs, there was no loaner and they couldn't get me in to fix for another 2 days, that made for 6 trips to drop car off for 10 minute fix. 2. Took 4 hrs to get a key made (was only given one at delivery) then key still didn't work when car was given back to me so had to get me back into shop, 20 min later, we left with a working key. 3. No wheel lock in car, could not even rotate tires. The sales manager made all kinds of promises for days, had all kinds of people he needed to talk to to find another one but there again we would have to bring the car there so they could match it up. After 4 days, we talked to a couple of people that the sales manager supposedly talked to to get me another one, they all said that was the first they had heard of it, he had not talked to them at all. The gentleman in the parts department was very helpful to get this matter done so we could get out of there. We even told the sales manager that if he would just get this done, he would never have to deal with us again, we would NEVER step foot on that property again. I will drive all the way to Houston or Ft. Worth before I will go back there again. read more

CAVEAT: If you purchase a used vehicle at this dealership, have your mechanic to inspect it thoroughly. Had tune-up done not long after purchasing car and service technician points out I had a damaged transmission pan. It was damaged prior to purchase of vehicle. I've made several attempts to contact dealership to have issue rectified but they're very evasive. You're the best customer until you sign the dotted line and call them out on issues. I would NEVER purchase a vehicle from this dealership EVER again nor would want them to service my vehicle! BUYERS BEWARE! read more

Bought a 2014 Mazda CX 5 new. Service department has been great. Larry the service rep is the best service rep I have ever dealt with. When new the CX 5 had a rattle in the rear hatch. Service dept. worked with me until the problem was fixed. (Loose spoiler mount) Have had minor problems since then. All were fixed promptly. Will buy from this dealer again. read more

My 2011 CX7 has only been in the shop for oil changes and tire rotations since I purchased it in 2011 as I have had no issues at all. When I take my car in for an oil change, it is done quickly. I always wait and I am in and out in about 45 minutes and they wash my car for free. I love free!! My only complaint is that a couple of times, they could have done a better job on the car wash as they missed some spots but I wiped it down when I got home and all was good. I took in Jan 27 for oil change and it was quickly done and the car washed but someone left what looked like black greasy grime on the runner by the drivers seat and a black spot in the seat (I have grey cloth upholstery). I pointed it out and someone came and cleaned it up. The runner was clean and at first glance the seat looked clean so I headed to the grocery store. When I returned to my car after shopping and opened the door, I saw that, although not as dark, the spots on the seat were still there. Since I was headed out of town, I will have to take it back later to get the spots removed. But the personnel at Gorman McCracken are always nice and helpful and in almost 6 yrs, this is my only complaint. Not bad!! read more

This is the worst possible place to buy a car. After taking the car home, two weeks later they wanted more money down because the loan was not approved, even though we signed papers. After working that out with more money down they wanted another 1,700 for a loan origination fee, plus they bumped the price of the car up. Upon asking for the down payment back, they wanted to charge us for driving the car the whole time we thought it was our car. If you know what is good for you, don't buy a car from this dealer, they are double talking con artist. I just can't stress this enough. It was not a good experience at all! read more
