TERRIBLE. My recent experiences at this location have been extremely disappointing. I alternate between this site and the Germantown location for VW service, but this visit left me completely frustrated and in distress. I brought my car in to diagnose a check engine light and a disabled SOS overhead console. On April 3, I dropped off my vehicle with a reservation first thing in the morning. Later, I called for an update and was told my car would need to be kept overnight. The check engine light was cleared, but the SOS system issue remained unresolved. My service provider, Jason, dismissed the SOS issue as merely cosmetic and quoted $1600 for repairs, despite the system displaying a dashboard warning. After my car spent three days at the center (with no loaner vehicle offered), I picked it up and immediately noticed the SOS system bezel was cracked. Within 30 minutes, it fully detached. Out of boredom, I began troubleshooting and cleared the SOS error message myself! It turned out to be a technical issue, which made it clear to me that the service team had attempted a physical repair in error. After waiting for a new SOS system to be delivered, I called to schedule the replacement and was told May 1 was the earliest guaranteed completion date. Remembering my prior experience, I dropped off my car on May 1 with natural hesitation. The staff appeared confused and seemed to expect me to know all the details of my reservation, even though everything was digitized and available on their system! When I asked about loaner vehicles, I was told it depended on the extent of the repairs. From my perspective, being without a vehicle due to a service provider's error is reason enough for a loaner, but I digress. That afternoon, I called for an update and was told that the SOS system had been replaced and that they were awaiting the check-engine light diagnosis. I was promised a follow-up call with more details, but I never received one that Friday. Saturday passed with no updates, and by the time I realized, the location had closed. The service center is closed on Sundays. On Monday morning, I called shortly after opening (7:12 am) and was on hold for 30 minutes, only to be told Jason was with another customer and would call me back soon. No one called. I called again at 11:30, was placed on hold, transferred to Jason, and then sent to voicemail. I called the front desk again, explaining my situation, and was assured my message would be relayed. It wasn't until 3:30 pm--after repeated efforts ONLY on my part--that I finally spoke with a Gossett VW service provider. Initially, I was told there was no update, but within ten minutes during the same call, there was suddenly a diagnosis, and they were ready to proceed with a $400 repair upon my authorization. The lack of transparency, delayed communication, and pure inconsistency made it impossible for me to trust the service department's process. So, of course, I declined the repair since my vehicle remained operable per their professional opinion, and I informed VW that I would retrieve my car. This level of poor customer service is unlike anything I have experienced at any other Gossett location. I had to continually reach out for updates, and each time, I received new information only because of my persistence, not because the service team kept me informed. The staff's demeanor ranged from indifferent to dismissive, and their lack of accountability was purely evident. Even after I picked up my car, there was no apology for the repeated inconvenience. Instead, I was met with a cheeky comment! "Oh, we were just talking about you" when I gave my name. As someone who works in a customer-service-heavy occupation, I recognize that mistakes happen and that we are just human at the end of the day, but the repeated errors, lack of proactive communication, and disregard for customer concerns displayed by the Gossett Volkswagen Covington Pike service department are inexcusable! read more

Received a call from Tim informing us that the maintenance department was significantly delayed, so they weren't honoring online appointments. Reached out to Tim multiple times over the past two weeks, but his attitude was consistently disrespectful. He dismissively mentioned the number of cars ahead of ours, with fluctuating figures that didn't add up logically. This isn't our first encounter with Tim or Gossett, and unfortunately, each time has been a frustrating experience. After my Jeep has been sitting for over two weeks, I've decided to take it elsewhere for service. Save yourself the hassle and avoid bringing your vehicle here for maintenance. read more

This dealer has being the worst experience I've ever had when it comes to looking into buying new cars, etc. The sales persons have the worst communication I've ever seen with a potential customer. They treat you like you are dumb and will try to bait and switch you. We asked for an inquiry for a specific model and they tried to sell us the more expensive one and lying in our face saying that was the model we asked. We asked for the OTD and they brought us the OTD of the higher model we asked for and they they had the audacity to lie in our face saying that's the OTD for the model we asked and we literally had to walk out and point out that it wasn't. The person even stutter cause the salesperson saying he/she was confused but when we went to see the SUV I made a "mistake" saying that was the model 5 times higher that the basic and he/she dint even stutter to correct me. Thank god she was confused!!! They made us waste 3 hours with this back and forth The person I've been in communication with gave the wrong information to the sales person giving them a higher price model and then try to shove it down our throat. Conclusion: I don't recommend doing business with them as they will try to bait and switch you. Plus their communication has been a 0/10 and they will lie in your face. read more

Several years after my first review, I was in the market to buy another car. I love VW's and it's all I've driven. My mother and I went to look at vehicles at this dealership- ONLY because Germantown did not have any of the specific model I was looking for. A sales associate talked to us about VW's that was a Porsche associate- he had no idea what he was talking about. He tried to tell me that my old car and the new one I was looking at had no difference in the appearance or anything else. He looked shocked when I had to correct him. Needless to say- I found my vehicle at Covington Pike and promptly had it sent to Germantown Gossett. The service leaves everything to be desired. read more

I brought my car here to be served almost a week ago and have yet to receive an update on when the service will be complete. I've tried to contact the dealership with no answer from the service department. The one time I did reach an operator, I was told she would look into and call me with an update within an hour. I never received that return call. I am extremely unsatisfied with the level of service and the lack of sense of urgency this business has. Not to mention the price they have quoted me is way overpriced compared to a comp I received for the same service. A family member referred a specific salesman at the Covington Pike location (who sold me the vehicle). This salesman informed me that this family member would receive a $50 gift card for the referral (which NEVER happened). I asked several times afterwards, but the salesman informed me that the person responsible for issuing the gift cards would contact me (THEY NEVER DID)! As of today, the salesman is no longer there, and I know they'll NEVER get the gift card. I have asked again (recently), but no one will give me an answer. The only answer I get is "We'll have the person that handles that contact you". A Joke! There's a thing called HONESTY & INTEGRITY that most people don't/won't practice. I visited your service department on Friday, September 30, 2022 regarding an oil leak on my 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan.  I was told that one of the Techs took a look at my car and was not able to find any leaks.   Later that afternoon when I got home looked under my car and saw oil on the bottom of my engine as well as oil near the left side of the engine (if you are viewing it from the top under the hood). I called Monday, October 3, 2022 and left a message for the Service Manager to call me back (but he never did).  I called back twice on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 and left a message for the Service Manager to call me, but he never called back.  I then called again and talked with a Service Rep on the phone, who advised me that he gave the Service Manager my number to call.  He asked me what did I need and I advised him of the problem from Friday when I'd come in on Friday.  He informed me that a Tech by the name of (Randy) took a look at my car and found no oil leaks. He went on to say that, "Randy is our best Techs!" Again I advised him that the oil is clearly visible. The Service Representative told me to bring my car back in and they will take another look at it. He asked when I could have it in and I told him Saturday, because it is the only day I'm available. The Service Representative said okay... we will see you then.  Now today Saturday, October 8, 2022 I arrive and now I'm told that there is nothing that can be done to correct my issue. I was told this is because there is no work done on the weekend other than Express.  The lady today said they can look at it for me and let me know where the oil is possibly coming from, but no work would be able to be completed.  I feel that this is something that could have been explained when I called earlier this week.  I also feel that there is no excuse not to clearly see oil on the bottom of a vehicle (I'm not a mechanic, but I can see an oil leak). read more

I took my 08 Passat in for an in-depth diagnosis on an engine knock sensor fault. The personal service was fantastic, everyone I spoke with was very friendly and pointed me in the right direction quickly. I communicated with both the service and parts departments. The communication and sense of urgency were lacking, however. My car was at Covington Pike from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a pre-scheduled 1-2 hour diagnostic. Tim gave the excuse of being packed and slightly understaffed before a holiday, which I completely understand. However, this MUST be communicated to the customer, especially if it effects when the customer can use their primary source of transportation again. I was told by Janne' when I dropped the car off that they would get started on it before noon and I would receive an update shortly after. I called the service department at exactly 1:41 p.m. asking for an update, and I was told they had not even started to look at it yet. I called again at 4:33 p.m. to find out they had finally finished looking at the car. They did not reach out to give me any updates, I had to call myself. The actual diagnosis of the vehicle was very in-depth, and Tim was able to give me a good amount of information to help me make my decision on what to do about the problems. From my experience at Covington Pike VW, I would say their team is very knowledgeable and good at what they do, but there are some communication issues and some lack of urgency. read more

Dont buy/service a vehicle here. They sold me a vehicle and not even 24 hours later, my tire pressure light came on so i took it in immediately to get looked at. The representative who "helped" me out stated that it was just my sensor that needed to be reset and there was nothing wrong with any of the tires. So i drove off and after a couple days, my tire pressure light came on again so i reset it myself. Then it came on once more a few days later so i went to check the pressure on it and it turns out my tire was on 20 psi instead of 50. So i take it in and come to find out...its not the sensor and my tire has a nail in it. Of course the dealership is claiming they are not liable since i drove it off the lot. Even though i came back the very next day and was lied to about the conditions of my tires. Instead of taking accountability, they tried to charge me almost $300 for a new tire. First let me start off by saying I am probably one of the most patient and understanding people out there. I am not being a Karen or some uppity rich person. I am just your average everyday customer with the worst experience of my life by a long shot an any dealership. So originally, I was having a misfire issue with my 2012 VW TDI but it was not throwing a light on the dash or indicating anything was wrong. This car has 10-year warranty or 120k miles, but of course if the light is not showing on the dash or their computer is not showing any issues there is nothing they can do. So, I scanned it myself with a third-party scanner and it showed a sporadic misfire at number 4 injector. So, I hand them this information even though their system was not showing anything. So instead of replacing the misfire injector / glow plug what do they do, replace the flywheel. I spoke to a lady that said your repair is covered under warranty and your car is ready to pick up. They kept the car for a month then try and stick me with the bill that I was never even told about until I show up to pick up the car! I'll Never understand that and believe it was just a way to make money off a customer. The company or service department doesn't make money or high numbers off warranty work so what do they do create a problem that is not even there! Nothing was even close to wrong with this car including the flywheel. Upon pick up the car still had the exact same issues as the day i brought it in. So, not only was my original problem not fixed, I now I have whole new set of problems. Now I have an oil leak and had to bring it back in a few weeks later. So, guess what in order to get to the flywheel you have to take of a variety of parts apart or off the car including oil pan, turbo, and break all those factory seals. So now we have an oil leak and I bring it back to them. First off, I ran into the service manager and said hey Tim do you have a minute. His exact words were "NOT REALLY" and proceeded to tell me how the service department had to eat all the cost of this stuff on my last service for the fly wheel. The whole experience was completely unprofessional. It took over a week just to get an answer on it as to what was wrong concerning the new oil leak and now they say it is the turbo seal. Well guess who took the turbo apart a few weeks before it started leaking! Here is the best part, the car is still is not fixed. To double check the issue was fixed I put a piece of cardboard under the car in the same spot it was leaking last time and guess what it is still leaking. Look, I get people are human and make mistakes it happens. When a customer basically gives you what's wrong with the car and you decide to go messing around creating problems with other parts and causing more issues be ready to accept that responsibility and fix the car right and in a timely manner. Your technicians are terrible, I have a mechanic that is "REAL MASTER TECH" that has worked for 25 years at dealership on Covington pike and he said this is unbelievable and unacceptable. I wish I would have never brought this car here, but having the factory dealer warranty did not have much of a choice. Yeah, I will never be back to this place until the service manager (Tim) and "MASTER" techs no longer work there. "Master" techs do not keep making rookie mistakes. They are not a good fit for your organization. I have had multiple friends and family have similar experiences. Also, you think it is acceptable to keep a customer's car for nearly a week, let alone a month and not communicate or let them know what is going on with it? You think it is acceptable to do work on a customer's car not tell them what you are doing to just stick them with the bill when they come to pick the car up? You think it is acceptable for the service manager to avoid calls because he does want to deal with an upset customer? You think it is acceptable to not have courtesy cars available to the customer and just let them be without a ride to work. This is poorly run service department and customer service is less than acceptable. Immediate changes need to be made at this franchise. read more

I left my Jetta for warranty repair that required removal of my car's subframe. When I picked it up, I realized after getting on I-40 that there was something seriously wrong with the suspension and/or steering. There was a loud clunking and ratchet response to moving the steering wheel. I got off the highway and drove slowly back to Gossett. I left the car and had to call the next day to find out what was wrong. I was told that they rushed and forgot to tighten the driver's side sway bar link on my suspension. After I picked up my car for the second time, I thought I'd inspect their work. Gossett was also supposed to have changed the engine oil. I even asked the service adviser when I picked up the car if the oil had been changed. He looked me in the eye and said, "yes". He lied. I pulled out the dipstick after having driven only 8 miles on this supposed oil change and the oil was charcoal sludge. I cleaned the dipstick and rechecked it numerous times with no evidence of fresh oil. Attached is a picture of what that oil looked like. The worst part of this whole drama is when I called to confront the service adviser about the oil change, he basically told me that I don't know what I'm talking about. He said charcoal colored sludge is normal in a diesel after 8 miles. I'll leave you to make your own conclusions. But can you imagine picking your car up from the dealer with loose suspension parts because they didn't finish the job? How about imagine that with your family in the car? That's scary, to say the least. And then what do you think about being told a service was done, you discover it wasn't, and then you're told lie after lie? read more

NEVER take your car here. I will drive my VW 100 miles away before VW Gossett ever touches it again! I've lived in 2 other states and the dealerships have been great. I took my CC here for a recall in February and ever since I've had extreme problems with my car- $4,200 worth! Most recently they were supposed to replace my compressor. We got a call that it was $2100 and we could pick it up that day. When I went to pick it up the price mysteriously jumped to $2860. I fought it and asked to speak to the manager- he was no where to be found and supposedly out of town. The advisor said he would take 20% off. Upon leaving I realized he only took 10% off. My car also began making a terrible squeaking sound upon turning it on and hitting the gas. I told the advisor before I left the parking lot it sounded terrible and he blamed it on it sitting for a few days and it had to be my breaks. I knew it was a lie, but I was rushing to the hospital for my father and needed to leave. I called several times and left messages for the service manager Shiloh- he's still not called me back regarding me being upset over the charge discrepancies and there being more issues. Within 9 days of the compressor being replaced, I had no air again. I continued calling and leaving messages and heard nothing. Finally, I called the general manager- Jason. Rather than him apologizing and feeling terrible that I just paid them thousands of dollars and my car still isn't repaired and telling me to bring my car in right away where he could fix the situation, he said he'd had to look into it and would give me a call back. He wouldn't give me a timeframe when my car would be repaired or if he would provide me with a loaner car free of charge. Since he acted as if he couldn't take care of it, I asked to speak to his boss, but he told me he doesn't answer to anyone. After contacting corporate I found that completely untrue! His regional manager must of called him because he eventually changed his tone and told me he'd have me a loaner car the following day and they'd look into it. The AC compressor had failed again (hmmm?) and so they replaced it free of charge due to the parts warranty. He said he would replace my belt for free since it was causing the squeaking, but I also needed a new belt tensioner because it was weak and he won't cover that. He said he was covering $300 in charges himself due to the lack of communication prior, but I would need to pay $204 for the tensioner. I expressed it wasn't fair to pay that due to my price increasing the first time without being aware, being scammed about a discount, it being on my invoice that I received a car wash and never did, and being miserable for days in 80+ degree weather without air when I paid thousands for it to be repaired. He refused to cover my belt tensioner so I refused for them to get another dime from me and I'll take it elsewhere for it to be repaired. Oh & when I picked up my car today, STILL no wash and I don't know where Jason got his $300 from what he was taking care of, but my invoice shows he wrote off only $60.77. With all of that being said, they are SCAMMERS!! Please trust me, learn from me, and do yourself a favor and NEVER trust these people! You'll regret it if you do! read more

Monopoly is a derogatory word for a reason. It is frustrating that the only VW outlets nearby are owned by the same group. They seem to feel justified to ask for sticker price for a two year old vehicle after claiming not to "play games." I don't need a new car. I saw one I liked that could have been a good deal for both the dealer and myself. However, they ruined it by wasting my time and by trying to pull the wool over my eyes rather than being straight-forward. When the time comes, I will probably use a service that pays a certain amount over invoice, rather than deal with the haggling and disrespect for my time and intelligence. read more

Friendliest sales staff that my wife and I encountered in our winding search for a new/used car. These guys bent WAY over backwards and stayed late to get us an amazing deal on our car. Michael was the best. We dealt with lots of different new and used dealerships in the surrounding greater Memphis area, and no one came close to the service we rec'd here. Super friendly, straight shooting, and a pleasure to deal with. Give these guys a chance. If you are looking for a used car and find one you are interested in at any of the Gossett dealerships on Covington Pike, go here first and let them take you around the different lots. On August 17 I taking my car in for a routine oil change as I am done 3 Times before with Gossett Volkswagen. I've never had an issue or problem. After my oil change I noticed that my car was leaking oil. I informed them of the leak and I brought it in exactly a week later. I was told over the phone is would be covered, I would get a loaner car, etc etc. when I got there that was not the case. They told me that the seal was faulty and that I would have to be out of pocket over $700. According to the print out that their Service manager gave me, it said that the seal was distorted and no longer sealing properly. It seems that one of their mechanics torqued the plug too hard and messed the seal up. The fact that it was a faulty part AND that The only way that seal could've been distorted is from one of their mechanics shows that they not only have poor workmanship, but they do not stand behind their work. The service manager would not even look me in my eyes, wouldn't give me options, would not stand behind what his associates had told me over the phone. Nothing...which shows his level of professionalism. I am a single woman and I am always leery of auto shops taking advantage of me and at this stage I feel that they are trying taking advantage of a situation caused by their mechanics. 1/10 do not recommend. read more

After a long and what appeared to be sincere promise that they do not play the typical car dealer games that's exactly what we got. The process was at best insulting and at worst was out right fraud. I am not a user of Yelp really. I re-opened my account so I could leave this review. I have been a big believer in taking my car to the dealership for anything that goes wrong. I always brought my Jetta in for regular service. I found out I needed a new power steering pump, line, and a vacuum pump. I was told it would cost $2,400.00. They would have to remove the transmission and it would take over 8 hours of labor. I have a manual Jetta. I looked it up and confirmed with VW certified mechanics that you do not have to remove the transmission and it really only takes a couple hours to repair. I got great service at a VW certified shop for less than $1,000.00 for all work. I have brought my vehicle to the gossett dealership for just about everything. There are always long wait times and they can't really do anything on the weekends besides changing oil. I love Volkswagens, but I'm never going back to this dealership and if I buy another Volkswagen, I will go to another dealership, even if it's over a 100 miles away. read more

We really had a great experience here just looking at cars. We constantly had people opening doors for us, getting us water, making sure we were comfortable. The ambience inside was really nice. Marvin went out of his way to make sure we looked at the cars we were interested in, including getting cars from other dealerships so we wouldn't have to drive over. Crooked liars. If you decide to buy from these cheats that were probably trained at buy here pay here dealerships and barely have high school diplomas, make sure you read every detail because they will shake your hand and tell you one thing and when you get ready to sign the paperwork, it will not match what they said. I have bought two vehicles from here and almost got screwed on a third one but walked out. I'm so glad I did. I will never set foot in this place ever again and will also never buy another Volkswagen. It's really too bad because they are good cars but these people will make you want to forget cars and buy a horse and buggy.
