We attended an amazing fundraising event at Gotham Hall in Manhattan. It is architecturally very beautiful and all areas are well maintained. It is a landmark building which used to house The Greenwich Savings Bank. The domed great room is beautiful and the center dome is a work of beauty. The upstairs balcony where we enjoyed the cocktail hour has a great view of the downstairs. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. read more

This is a pretty fantastic concert venue and one of the old style ones which is smaller and more intimate and also really impressive on many levels. Barbie and I came here recently. Restrooms are beautiful, well maintained and offer fist-class accoutrements (disposable dental picks, mouthwash, cologne, hand lotion, etc.). Food was OK. While my experience was limited to a continental breakfast, it was also unimpressive with some fruit selections as the only healthy/non-carb options. Staff was attentive, but not friendly. Visited Gotham hall for a family party earlier this month. This place is located right on Broadway. This is a nice location for events. The staff helping was courteous, helpful and professional. The only thing this place didn't had was a dedicated nursing station for a new mother and a baby. One of our family member had to do that in the restroom. But I truly thank that staff member who placed some chairs in the restroom to help that mother. He did go above and beyond and we are very grateful for that. read more

Recently attended an award show with my company at Gotham Hall. Overall, the event was great. There were two bars set up with two bartenders each. I frequented the one with Andy, he was great! For the reception hour, we were confined to the bar area and weren't allowed to walk around by the tables. The area that we were in, was quite small and everyone was constantly running into each other. It was great when they let us by the tables and we could sit down and still mingle. The food was perfect and everyone at my table enjoyed it. There were a lot of servers waiting on the tables so there was always someone near by to assist. At the end of the event, people left periodically so there wasn't a mad rush to get out, thankfully. I would say the only bad part was the packed reception hour with no where to sit. read more

I had the opportunity to attend the Watch Time show at the Gotham Hall venue. It is located in Manhattan, with easy access to buses, trains, parking garages and taxis. The building is older architecture and very grand. The high domed ceiling is breathtaking but unfortunately echoes sound which makes lots of talk in the room quite loud. There is a balcony which looks out over the auditorium floor. I have no idea how much it costs to rent this facility but if you want to make a high class impression, Gotham Hall is the place to do it. read more

Ah the glory of Gotham. There aren't too many places like this left. From the imposing entrance at the corner of the block to the stout, yet friendly security team that seamlessly lurk in the dark corners this place screams, in a muted whisper, the grandeur of all things vintage and charming. The mystique of watching this place transform for each event is a luxury afforded to it's employees only. Even if you happen to be hosting, they will allow you entry only after the basic accommodations have been met. Akin to an opera singer prior to a show, no secrets must be revealed. I love that they can do so based on their expert attention to detail and professional staff. The staff is both professional, yet approachable. Despite the large crowd that this venue can hold in the main room and in the multiple alcoves/rooms, there is never a worry as the space is ample (think fairytale ballroom). It goes without saying that the place is immaculate, carpets are rich and plush, and the floor is heel/stiletto friendly. Catering is also well executed. All of the items in the four course dinner were delectable and service was well timed. (Sadly, there are no food pictures because in this environment it is just uncouth). Bar service was efficient, quick and courteous. I can honestly say I enjoyed every aspect of the evening and if forced to sum it up in one word: superb. Old school charm that makes the hustle and bustle of the City disappear must be acknowledged. I would recommend for any special event/occasion and I cannot wait to return. read more

NYUCD held a Halloween Party here and it was JAW DROPPING amazing. This place is huge and so beautiful. I loved the high ceiling, tall columns and subtle lighting. The music was pumping. Spectacular venue. I keep hearing people say this place hosts some of the best parties, weddings, and events. Now I know why. The Romanesque style gives it an unforgettable tone. The backdrop looks regal. You can change the backdrop style to hide the columns or even play them up. When you come into the main room it feels like you stepped into another dimension. I came here for the Style Fashion Week. The set-up looks amazing. The large space allows people to move from one room to the next. In the foyer, you see people taking photo ops with models. Even though many people attended this fashion show, it never felt uncomfortable. If I decide to plan an event in New York, I would highly recommend this place. read more

Never knew that Gotham Hall was converted to a party facility in 2002 after the Greenwich Savings Bank met its demise after deregulation in 1980. Inside, plenty of reminders of being a glorious bank - tall cavernous ballroom / main room in the center, several smaller rooms to either side and a duo of balcony rooms that overlook the main ballroom. Had an event here, and they had wonderful sweeping photos and a good projector - audio suffered a bit, but I can't tell if that was just the speaker. Food was so-so. Appetizers all had cheese, so my fellow attendees that were vegan or couldn't consume cow's milk were all out of luck. Too salty beet salad, and a steak that was dry (not dry-rubbed but just too well-done was a gentler term). Service was okay - not overbearing but hovering in the background, plenty of waitstaff. Drink service was quick and simple, no long lines at all for the 100 attendees. Overall a nice, if expensive, venue - great for all the weddings and other fancier ball events and NYE that comes through, but for the group of ~100 people, it still felt a bit too big to fill in. But cocktail reception was crowded and no counters or tables to sit a drink down to enjoy a plate of food while holding a drink. Main event space had horrible acoustics. Music was not just loud but echo and head splitting. Gave up trying to chat even with guest sitting directly next to me after maybe 20 minutes. Beautiful space with a stellar in house staff to boot! Planned a celebrity charity gala here recently and it was a huge success. Guests loved the venue and every staff member at Gotham made our event memorable all in the best ways possible. They have a second level with a big balcony that overlooks the main ballroom and also smaller rooms that could be used for private green rooms and such. Using their exclusive in house vendors for AV and catering went without a hitch as well. Can't wait to plan another event here! read more

Our wedding at Gotham Hall was beyond our wildest dreams! The venue itself is spectacularly majestic with its sublime architecture, elegant interior design, and jaw dropping dome ceiling. The food, drinks, and service were outstanding from start to finish! The staff was the epitome of professionalism and delightful to work with along the entire journey from planning to even days after the event itself. Stephanie Black, Robert Fortunato, and Pejy Kash, in particular, managed our entire event flawlessly and were exceptionally talented and wonderful to work with. We had several dietary restrictions, requests for items not on the menu, and additional needs for help for some of our older guests and the team at Gotham Hall was quick to come up with solutions to make our wedding perfect! Weddings can be chaotic, and the Gotham Hall staff was attending to our every need throughout the whole night, making sure were calm prior to the ceremony and ensuring we were having a wonderful time at the reception. This team really knows what they're doing and coordinated with each other and all of our vendors flawlessly! It's been over a month since our wedding and our guests cannot stop talking about the beauty of the venue, the quality of food and beverages, the top-notch service and attentive staff. This is the second event I attend to at this location. I love old buildings that are preserve for our use now. This is a huge beautiful space with really high ceilings. I heard it used to be a bank that now is used for private events. It also has a balcony that over looks the whole space. I came here with a friend on 1/17 for the Benvenuto Brunello Wine Tasting. It was our first time here and we both loved the venue. -elegant & opulent interior -bluetiful glass ceiling with a big bright chandelier in the middle -friendly and professional staff -clean bathroom but a bit small We checked in our coats and we grabbed a wine glass before we went in to sample all the wine. I'd been to a lot of wine tasting events but this one was much bigger with tons of different wine to try. Most of them were red wine but there was a vendor carried both white and dessert wine. Besides wine, we also love nibbling on their snacks especially the goat cheese....so good (^^)ｂ There were some suit & tie bouncers around and they were very friendly. They would take pictures for you if you asked them. By the time we were about to head to the coat check to pick up our coats, I couldn't find my coat check ticket...I was so worried and afraid that they would tell me to stay until everybody picked up their coats. I told the attendant what my coat looked like and while she was looking for my coat I found the ticket stuck in one of my bag's pockets. We came for NYE bash. Spend good money, about 150x2 people. Aside from the venue itself which is nice everything else was very disappointing. To sum: I came at 9. Waited on line for 10 min. Then waiting for coat check for 15 min. Then waited on line 2.5 hours for food which I never even got because they ran out! The drinks were small and full of ice with low quality alcohol. The dance floor was overcrowded. The dj was not even that great. Overall I am greatly disgusted with this place. Wish I could have my money refunded because it was essentially wasted money. read more

My husband and I had the pleasure of getting married at Gotham Hall on July 26, 2014. We knew Gotham was the correct venue for us the minute we walked through the front doors. The hall is exquisite and the Haer Building is also a classic hallmark of traditional New York, simply unforgettable with a one of a kind glass dome ceiling. With the white-glove service, attention to detail, classic ambience, and award winning cuisine, we could not have asked for a more perfect day on our wedding! The chef also went to great lengths to make us a traditional Sri Lankan appetizer form scratch - just so we could include something from our heritage, and also served alcoholic cupcakes at the end of the night with dry ice! Allan Kurtz and the Gotham Hall crew were wonderful and a pleasure to work with - they went above and beyond to ensure that our wedding was everything that we asked for. Allan's oversight of the many vendors and details and the kindness and attentiveness he showed to us throughout the entire planning process to the days even after the wedding, were just priceless. 2012 company holiday party was hosted here. There was a coat check disaster. Turned in to 3 hour wait at the max for coats to be located. For a 4 hour block of time for the whole party, most of the party was spent by people on line to get their coats when word that the coat check was unorganized made its way through the party. While it was a beautiful location, the food was mediocre and the coat check fail ruined our company holiday party. Basing solely on my experience, it would be hard to recommend this place for large (500-1000+) occasions. 2 stars for coat check mayhem and very mediocre food. read more

This is the site of the best alum event I ever went to (last night). Rolled up (on foot), admired the huge school flag they hung out for the event, and took my place by the open bar on a plush balcony area overlooking the Grand Ballroom where perfect round tables were being laid out. Converted to a party facility in 2002 after the Greenwich Savings Bank met its demise after deregulation in 1980, the feeling of money and industry still hung nicely in the air. As the jazz band played, I gazed up at the bluish ellipical skylight embedded in the ornate, domed ceiling and quite expected Batman to come crashing through the cobweb patterned portal and the Penguin Man bursting up through the marble floor in a giant rubber duck and Michelle Pfeiffer slinking out from behind a wall. Hell, I felt like I WAS Michelle Pfeiffer in this place! The service was superb all night long. The hors d'oeuvres servers were attentive and diplomatic, popping up in regular intervals in all reaches of the room to offer miniature duck wraps, coconut shrimp, triangles of brie with grapes on top, and hot samosas. The bartenders were quick and skilled, and kept everyone liquored even as the space became a total mosh pit. Just as the balcony was probably on the brink of collapse from the weight of lushy and overenthusiastic alums, we were called down to our tables for the program and a delicious dinner to match. The server assigned to my table kept me happy as a clam in red wine, and kept up a good conversation as I got chattier. I liked that the servers were real, dimensional people who didn't shuffle or have inferiority complexes about their work. They were definitely professionals. A goat cheese quiche in a nest of baby greens was followed up by melt-in-your mouth roast beef (giant gnocchi for vegheads) and a dark chocolate tart. All the while, bigwigs, students, and performers stepped up to the stage and said their bit and played their instruments. The sound system was sublime. All in all, this hall is a holiday venue made in Gotham. It should be utilized by those who can bring an occasion that justifies and complements the extravagance of the space. For example, last night's dinner celebrating a ramp up in fund-raising efforts for need blind admissions at a blue blood prep school was just such an ocasion. Everyone felt good, and it wasn't just because of the Scotch and the wine. Speaking of which... the downside was that I accdientally (whooops) got Absolutely Shit Faced (we're talking misplacement of entire purse, trying to get into my house with my work keys, riding almost to the Bronx on the 6...I'll stop here), but even this was arguably glam rock. Anyway, the miscalculation of my limits thankfully played out after the event, in an inferior locale devoid of anyone of major consequence to my future. The venue is pretty and the planning staff is great. It reminds me slightly of Cipriani 42 or Capitale but not quite as beautiful. I like the old bank feel that it has and the upstairs is nice too. I actually had a 200 person presentation upstairs and then came downstairs for a reception. I had no idea i could really fit that many on the upstairs mezzanine - but the fact that it did helped us maximize the space downstairs. We had them set up a square central bar accessible from all four sides. The food was on the outside and we had set up the interior as a speed networking system. Overall the staff and space were quite adaptable and creative to our needs. The food was only ok- not spectacular but good enough and all of the vendors we used were their preferred. i think it is also a little overpriced - but if you are looking for the old school bank grandiose feel for less money than Cipriani Gotham Hall is the way to go. And like i said the planning staff was great - they really made us feel comfortable during the entire process. read more

The architecture is what's causing me to give them a solid 3-star rating. The space is ok. But, if you're there for an event, once the bars and tables and stage are set up, it's REALLY difficult to maneuver throughout the space. I also found a lot of the staff to be very indifferent and some to be downright obnoxious as they obviously gave preference to serving certain guests over others. The food options weren't that spectacular...though I'm not sure if that criticism goes to their in-house or an outside caterer. I did find the spacing of the stairs leading to and from the balcony to be very odd and difficult for various people to maneuver. You can't quite do one step at a time...but they're not big enough to warrant two full steps. Odd. I will say it's worth viewing and considering the venue for your event. Most people at large events here are so awed by the space they really don't look at the finer points. But the location is right and it is a visually appealing space. read more

Beautiful space. Came here for a work holiday party and the space is phenomenal. It helps that there was free food, open bar, and enough space for everyone. There's a 2nd level with a balcony to give you sweeping views of the floor below. The pillars and high ceiling really adds to the effect. The main doors are small so we ended up on a line waiting to get in (like I'm still in college and clubbing) which can be a bit disappointing but once inside, it's well worth the wait. read more
