My friend and I did the sculpture without sight class and it was so interesting. I wasn't sure what to expect but it wasn't that. Despite the blindfolds, it's easy to feel and sculpt (albeit not great). The music and the incense help eat the mood and ambiance. The woman who was our "guide" was super great and funny. This was a really fun experience and would do it again. Would recommend to others.

What an experience! Decided to do a date night with my husband and we both really enjoyed ourselves. Loved the letter to yourself when we were welcomed in. Great way to kick off the evening. Also appreciated that they offered wine and Prosecco! I really enjoyed being able to slow down, connect to myself and use my sense of touch to create art without sight. I would do this again and again and again as there are so many possibilities.

I had a super fun experience painting on the weekend with my friend at unarthodox. Highly recommend for those looking for unique things to do in nyc.

My husband brought me here as a surprise for my birthday last year, and what a surprise it was! We came for the sculpt-without-sight class. You're in for an exceptional, emotional, enjoyable and all around unique experience at Unarthodox. I had no idea what to expect when we walked in - it was a bunch of bald clay heads, folding chairs, smocks and dim lights. They have beer and wine for purchase, or you can stick with water or soda - it's all available. The music was probably the most moving, especially being blindfolded. I went in with a certain vision before putting on my blindfold, but as the music continued and I had to rely solely on my senses, it took me down memory lane and I ended up sculpting something entirely different. I am pretty sure I even cried at some point. I highly recommend this for everyone! It's definitely something worth experiencing at least once. I know I am definitely looking forward to going back again.

This was a fresh and fun thing to do for date night! We took a "sculpting without sight" class and Sarah was the best & funniest instructor. I love the background music and aroma therapy smells while doing the sculpting. They had beer and wine available to purchase as well!

I celebrated my birthday at Unarthodox as a private event. It was a very fun night! My guests loved it. We did blindfold sculpting and it was a very relaxing and almost therapeutic. Our hosts, Alex and Sara, were friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this experience. I also liked that it was personalized for me. I think there were some miscommunication in booking the private event, booking online would be easier (not private) and you have the open bar to drink before the event. As a private event, and having some guests who don't drink, the open bar option was too expensive for me to consider.

What an amazing experience I surprise my fiancé on date night Art without sight, it's located in an area that have enough parking. A building in the 3floor When we arrived there was a very friendly host, she guided us to our seat. The host Jake and Alex was so amazing The entire experience technically last for 1 hour You don't get to take your sculpture home During the experience, you have to be blindfolded And they play relaxing music through the entire experience. I highly recommend it for anyone who trying to experience something new and different

Drinks, laughs, intimate lighting and...mud? Count me in! It's wintertime in NYC and safe entertainment feels hard to come by as we all go through the latest COVID wave with Omicron. Thankfully, Unarthodox offers a great opportunity for folks to have a unique immersive blindfolded sculpting experience during these challenges times, and it's much appreciated. From the check-in to leaving the door, everything about the experience was welcoming and fun. When you get in, they check your vaccination card and let you place your coats on hangers. They bring you to a table and then the person taking your orders happens to also be the lead for the experience, Nick. The drink selection is very limited (wine, sodas, and maybe three beers). You only get one opportunity to get a drink, so order two if that's your jam. The actual sculpting bits were really fun. I usually feel uncomfortable doing anything blindfolded. But after a few minutes, I got really into it and had a great laugh during the 'peek a boo' moment. Another great aspect of the experience is that they take care of the photo taking for you. I was really happy with the photos they took. Highly recommend folks check this place out!

Had a great time Sculpting Without Sight. I arrived about 15 mins late and was worried I would have to reschedule but they still let me in. The sculpting time went by quicker than I expected. We started blindfolded then took our blindfolds down about half way through to access then continued blindfolded. The staff took plenty of great photos which we were able to download through Google photos the next day. 10/10!

My husband and I have attended two sessions at Unarthodox and really enjoyed both. One class was a night with Picasso and the other was blindfolded sculpting. The location is on the 3rd floor of a building. It's a nice size with good lighting, music and a clean bathroom. There are non-alcoholic drinks available for purchase and some events are BYOB. You are provided all art materials, in addition to an apron. There are also photo opportunities, and the studio will provide you with a link sent to your email with photos they take throughout your session. A Night with Picasso: It felt really intimate and I enjoyed having a theme to keep us inspired. We were there with two other couples. The person leading the session was a lot of fun and very encouraging. The painting experience was low pressure and the music helped with keeping flow/relaxation. The other painters were fun spirited and good companions, throughout the experience. Sculpture without Sight: This was my favorite of the two activities. The class was fully packed and the energy was great! The teachers leading the session were awesome and encouraging. I loved trying a new activity in an environment that felt safe from judgment and had good vibes. Despite being a guided and structured activity, there was room for creativity. Important to note: you will NOT be taking your sculpture home after the class is finished. Overall, I would love to take another class at Unarthodox. **The elevator on one of our visits didn't work. If you are someone who cannot take the stairs, this location may be inaccessible to you, since the elevator is not reliable. **If you are a larger person, the chairs are VERY flimsy. You can ask for a sturdier chair, but keep in mind that option isn't great either.

Such a fun experience! I went with one of my friends, and we both thoroughly enjoyed our time. They have an array of beverages you can choose from to purchase, and walk through the basic steps of sculpting. The experience was truly immersive, as once you're blindfolded music begins to play and scenes are released into the air. I would highly recommend this fun experience for any occasion!

    - staff was personable - instructor was clear and helpful - came for sculpting without sight ($68pp) - wine by the glass or bottle available for purchase as well as beer and prosecco - planned the evening for my friends birthday and he loved it - I have sensory issues so it was a little overwhelming for me but still an enjoyable experience that I would recommend for anyone looking to do something a bit outside of the box - they play music throughout the experience (you're blindfolded while sculpting) and the staff walk around with various scents to accompany your artistic journey - I was fine with most of the smells except the incense which was very strong but passed relatively quickly - the music though pleasant was extremely loud. Like I could feel the base in my chest loud, my experience wouldve been a lot better had it been at a more reasonable listening volume - they also take photos for you and email them to whoever made the reservation

Such an amazing experience. Being blindfolded really allowed me to immurse myself into sculpting. It was so much fun and time flew by so quickly. I loved the extra touch with the different aromas and the music. All my sense were heightened and I enjoyed every minute if it. I will be recommending this place to everyone I know

We booked a premium, full-service package for a team-building afternoon, but instead of relaxing, my team spent the entire time stressing, moving boxes, and cleaning up after the staff we hired. We aren't trying to be difficult clients; we simply wanted the service we paid for. Instead, we faced a massive burden: The setup was chaotic and late: For a group our size, the policy is a 40-80 minute setup window. The facilitator didn't show up until 1:33 PM for a 2:00 PM start. Her assistant didn't arrive until after the event started. We were left watching the clock, wondering if our event was even going to happen. We had to manage their logistics: The assistant arrived late and without ID. Since we are in a secure office building, she couldn't get in. Instead of the vendor handling this, my team had to stop what they were doing, leave the event space, and go down to the lobby to retrieve her and haul up the supplies she was carrying. Dismissive attitude: Mistakes happen, but the facilitator's attitude made it worse. She was dismissive about being late and shockingly unhelpful regarding her own assistant's supplies. At one point, when asked about the materials her assistant brought, she refused to help, telling us she "couldn't hang onto that." It felt like we were imposing on her, rather than the other way around. My team did the physical labor: Because they were so behind, the setup wasn't done until 2:30 PM--30 minutes into our paid time. To save the event, my colleagues and I had to step in and physically unpack boxes, set up stations, and distribute materials. We paid for a full-service event but ended up doing the heavy lifting ourselves. Contract issues: We paid extra for the "all new supplies" option so our team could keep their materials. Despite this, the facilitator packed up and took many of the paints and brushes back with her. They walked out on the mess: Despite the event starting late due to their tardiness, the facilitator refused to stay a minute past 4:00 PM. She started aggressively cleaning up while people were still painting, then bolted out the door right at 4:00, leaving us to finish the cleanup and break down the boxes. I cannot recommend this vendor. We paid for a fun, stress-free afternoon and instead received a chaotic experience where we had to work as the setup and cleanup crew.

There were only 10 participants (including ourselves), so it was not too rowdy at all. You're expected to bring your own wine and snacks for the event because it will last up to four hours (6-9pm) but time goes by quickly when you're having fun. There will be music playing while you paint and you're free to talk, so don't stress about this being taking super seriously. The painting is taken step-by-step and the instructor was a very patient young woman. She encouraged us to ask questions and request help if needed. She who knew her craft, but never looked down on us if we weren't painting exactly to the original material. After all, art is subjective. By the end of the event, you'll be able to take your painting home so it's encouraged to leave your signature. I felt incredibly proud of my work and it's a great conversation topic to go on about for the rest of the night. I would come back over and over again, as long as I have a partner with me. It's more fun with someone you know.

However, the way the billing was handled was extremely disappointing and honestly very misleading. I was told that adding two additional guests would not be a problem, and at no point was I informed there would be an extra $150 charge. To only bring this up after the event is unacceptable. That kind of information should be clearly communicated at the time the request is made so customers can make an informed decision. What made matters worse was receiving a final email stating that my deposit would be kept because of those additional guests. That is completely unprofessional. I paid $2,772.20 for a pizza-making class for 17 kids and 16 adults, and in reality, only 15 kids and 15 adults attended--and only about 8 adults even participated in making pizza. While the event itself was a success, the lack of transparency and the decision to keep the deposit left a very bad impression. The format is basically like the show Chopped - two chefs (with the help of a sous chef) must prepare 3 different courses (app/entrée/dessert) using the ingredients from a mystery basket and are judged by the group. They have a certain amount of time for each round/course, and each mystery basket ingredient must only be used once over the 3 dishes. Each event is capped at 20 people - 12 seats at the counter and 8 seated at two tables behind the counter. Counter seats are only $10 more, however if the counter is sold out, it's totally fine to have a table seat. They encourage you to stand up and walk around, engaging with the chefs as they are preparing each dish. They have tasting sticks and allow you to taste sauces as they are being prepared. It's an intimate setting and it's a great way to learn about their techniques and the various ingredients. Watching them plate 20 dishes is incredible. All the food they prepared was delicious - there wasn't a bad dish. It's basically like having two full 3-course meals however you can take home any leftovers if you can't finish it all. You don't know the mystery ingredients ahead of time and they can't accommodate any allergies/preferences so that's something to keep in mind if you have allergies or are a picky eater. Our main proteins were chicken and steak so no issues there. At the end of each course, you have a score card where you rate each dish on presentation, creativity, and taste. At the end of the final round, we went around the room and told the chefs who we think should be crowned the night's winner. No getting out of telling them to their faces who was your favorite! It was a really fun night. The hostess was great and kept everyone pumped up and made sure our carafe of water was full. Both chef Ed and Guillermo were really cool and friendly - it was great to chat with them. They are amazing chefs. Some tips: don't be late! Don't dress too warmly especially if you are seated at the counter - it gets warm if you are near the stove burners. Bring wine - they have ice buckets for white/rosé. Book as soon as the calendar goes live if you want a counter seat. You are going to smell like oil/fried food when you leave... so ladies, don't get a fresh blowout ahead of time!
